I came across your tiny fish tank the other day, it looked really neat! If I were to make one slightly larger, would I need s filter for fish? Or just have to change out the water every week or so? Also, about how much did it cost you? Thanks! :)

HI! if you mean my super super super tiny lil round one, it literally cost me nothing, it's made from a water-tight paint container and a few bits and pieces from my other tanks. but it is NOT a fishtank!

Please dont put any fish into something that size, twice that size, even a hundred times that size. I ummed and ahhed abut putting even a teeny itty bitty snail in mine because in all likelihood it would die in there (in fact I think it did, i dismantled that tiny thing a long time ago, i felt pretty bad tbh). There is an image online of a similar tiny tank with some fish in it, but they are very baby fish and were only in the tank for the duration of the photoshoot (i hope).

Also, if you are going to have any kind of fish in any kind of container, you DO ABSOLUTELY need a filter. Fish cant survive in their own waste, any more than you can.

That said, there are a lot of options for keeping nano or pico aquariums with live fish! All of my tanks are nano aquariums. Just check out whats on offer at a proper fish store. If they tell you that you can keep a fish without a filter, they are NOT a proper fish store and you should get the hell out of there.

found this very sad, lethargic gannet on the beach today :( on closer inspection it had a severe tick infestation so we took it (after a frustrating misdirection from google maps and some helpful advice from some lovely veterinary nurses) to the bird lady, who runs a little bird hospital right here on the shore. then I went home and scrubbed myself silly because tickksssssss uuughhhhghhhhggghggh

thanks for the interesting information guys! it's doing surprisingly well considering it must have had a difficult upbringing. hopefully it will feel more settled in its new home :)

and speaking of ramshorns, let’s go from spots to STRIPES. I found this curly wurly in a blue ram tank at my local chain pet store and asked if it was for sale, and it turns out they were happy to give it for free :D it’s much bigger than any of my other ramshorns, being 2cm long. chocolate brown, blue and white stripes. ahhhhh it’s so gorgeous I LOVE IT

#the blue tint is very interesting though and can be seen in the more delicate inner shell too which is cool #idk I love this snail a lot but then I sort of love all snails a lot #my snails

I found this curly wurly in a blue ram tank at my local chain pet store and asked if it was for sale, and it turns out they were happy to give it for free :D it's much bigger than any of my other ramshorns, being 2cm long. chocolate brown, blue and white stripes. ahhhhh it's so gorgeous I LOVE IT

Ramshorn Round Up just a few of the lovely spotted baby ramshorn growing up in my tanks, none of the adults I have are spotted so I must be seeing a recessive gene or a cool mutation :) I love these lil guys and when they are a bit bigger i will pull out the best couple and get some fab selectively bred leopards!

Biotop update: Garden of Eden my biotop is now STUFFED full of thriving plants and delicate baby ramshorn snails who keep the glass crystal clear ahaha. due to someone unknown coming in and manually unplugging all my tanks during the move, the cardinal tetra didn't survive the winter temperatures :( currently the tank is looking after a pair of baby sisters from the platy tank, so that they can get big without competing with the adult platies. I don't know what the huge purple veined plant is because I got it for $3 at a pet store, but I am literally in love with it :D

Also I guess I should mention that he riparium dream is no more :( it was just too much hard work while I've been sick. Now there are a few cardinals in there and it's v serene and peaceful :)

i guess this is just a general tank update seeing a as it's been a while. I've been struggling with anxiety an depression so I've not even able to keep these as nice as I'd like, but it's been all change this week and I wanted to show off my results :)
