The Stages of Fake Dating

23-year-old Chloe's about to launch a new make-up collection in 3 months, but a certain incident begins to put a dent in her reputation so her PR manager decides that dating Paris' golden boy would help boost up her image. Meanwhile, Adrien's getting sick of being forced by his father to go on blind dates so he does the only thing he thinks would put a stop to it...agree to fake date his childhood friend (who he hasn't spoken with since high school).

1. The Plan

"Hey, that guy was practically harassing me for a stupid selfie!" Chloe defended as they got out of the elevator.

"Even so, the public seems to think otherwise." Julia, her PR manager, hands her a tablet showing a bunch of tweets calling her names she's heard a lot back in high school.

She sighs. "And you actually think dating someone is the best way to fix this?"

"Not just someone," Julia says, leading her into one of the meeting rooms.

Her eyes instantly land on a familiar face she wasn't expecting to see in person ever again.

"Adrien?" She lifts her sunglasses up to do a double-take and looks back and forth between him and Julia until realization dawned on her. "Oh, for fuck's sake."

2. The Act

"Is that gonna be alright with you?" Adrien, being the gentleman he is, needed her permission.

"Jesus, Adrien, we're not fourteen. Yes, you can hold my hand for this," Chloe assures him, putting her hand out.

"Hey, just want to make sure my girlfriend's comfortable." He teases before taking her hand in his.

"Still Paris' golden boy, huh?" She snorts, trying to mask the fact that something in her stirred when he called her his girlfriend and held her hand. She doesn't exactly know what those feelings are, but resolves not to dwell on it.

"I really missed you, Chlo," he says, smiling genuinely at her.

"I missed you too," she replies, returning the smile.

They continue walking along the sidewalk, pretending not to notice the paparazzi across the street.

3. Getting Closer

"Is it just me or did my father seem too happy when he found out we were 'together'?" Adrien asks, making the other blonde laugh.

After getting suffocated with questions about their 'relationship', they decided to get some fresh air on the balcony.

"He's probably relieved he doesn't have to annoy all his rich friends to set you up with their daughters anymore," she says.

As the laughter dies down, hints of tention and awkwardness fill the air; both having so much to say, but not knowing where to start.

Five years worth of events probably couldn't be covered properly in one night.

"Why'd you stop talking to me?" he blurts out, keeping his eyes on anywhere but her.

"I just wanted to forget high school," she explains. "Fresh start, you know?"

"You could've confided in me, I always got your back," he says, finally looking back at her.

"I'm sorry." It's the only response that seemed right. She doesn't notice that she mindlessly starts playing with one of the many bracelets on her wrists, but he does.

"Is that the one me and my mother gave you for one of your birthdays?" He gently pulls her arm close to inspect it.

"Yeah..."

"You kept it all this time?"

"Of course I did."

For two people who haven't spoken in years, the following conversations certainly didn't make it feel that way any longer.

4. Falling for Each Other

"So, you're buying her this ridiculously overpriced teddy bear because..?" Nino asked, eyeing said stuffed animal that Adrien just picked up from the shelf.

"Because she lost her old one and I'm a good friend," Adrien says matter-of-factly.

"In secret? With no cameras to capture the romantic gesture?"

"It's...personal." Adrien adjusts his hood and shades, looking around to make sure no one noticed him.

"Now, if this was a romcom, remind me again how two people fake dating figure out they caught feelings?" Nino smirks and crosses his arms.

"Well..." Adrien tries listing things in his mind, "They can't stop thinking about the person, they're excited to spend time with them, they do a lot of nice things for them even when it has nothing to do with their fake..."

"Mhmm."

"Shit."

"Yep."

"You're awfully happy to see your phone," Julia says as she enters Chloe's office.

"Shut up, Adrien just texted me something funny," Chloe defends before another giggle escapes her.

"Ah, makes sense." Julia smirks.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Chloe looks at her suspiciously.

"You like him."

"I don't." Her denial only makes the other woman grin.

"I've witnessed the entire disaster that was your love life." Chloe shoots her a glare. "And not once have I seen you smile like that."

"Fuck."

"Yep."

5. Making it Real

"Before this all ends, I just needed you to know that eventually..." He pauses out of fear that she may not want anything to do with him afterwards. "It became real for me."

She takes a step closer to him.

"It was real for me too."

Bonus:

Everyone in the office erupted in cheers after they kiss because they totally knew Chlodrien would end up together after the first month of fake dating.

Eren figuring out about Petra and Levi’s relationship and feeling all betrayed bc Petra is like a mother figure/older sister to him and he can’t believe a nice ray of sunshine girl like her would be with a cynical jerk like levi

When Eren first saw them kiss, he thought he must’ve hit his head after the strain he had put on his body that day. Surely, it must have been a trick of the light, some apparition, because the way Petra of all people raised herself on her tip toes and brought the Captain in for a kiss was not the Petra he knew. 

Even more horrifyingly, the Captain returned her kiss in heated fervor, ducking behind a corner and pressing her against the wall where they thought they wouldn’t be seen. Eren was gathering extra cleaning supplies and took a detour to the kitchen before he returned to the rest of the squad, when he heard Petra’s bell like laughter followed by the Captain muttering about training tomorrow. 

Then there was a moan that Eren was sure would haunt him because he saw Petra as a mother figure, and he quickly scurried out from the back door, not even looking where he was going as he bumped into Eld. 

“Mr. Eld, sir, sorry!” He sputtered, unraveling the cleaning cloth he held in his hand. Eld gave him a curious look from his red face. 

“You okay, Eren?”

Eren held a breath, not wanting to possibly out his friend and superior officer, but surely Squad Levi knew about them, they all seemed close. 

“Are Miss Petra and the Captain....uh....a couple?” He asked quietly, moving them away from the castle and into the grassy field where Gunther and Oluo were polishing their equipment. 

Eld chuckled and wrapped his arm around Eren. “Did you catch them? They’re not as sneaky as they think they are, believe me, we’ve all had an awkward encounter since we came back from our cut off expedition. Something about nearly dying gets them going.”

Eren gulped, not wanting to hear more and was taken off guard from Eld’s lackadaisical manner. “But...She’s so nice. And he’s....”

“A monster?” Eld finished, still cracking a grin. “He’s really not, I know he gave you a hard time at your hearing, but he knows what he’s doing. For Petra on the other hand, well, we’ve all got a weak spot.” 

Eren gave a weak nod, not being able to put down the feeling of betrayal, but before he could respond, he heard an, “Oi. Why are you all standing around, I thought we’d have the equipment cleaned off by now.” 

Petra walked next to him with a smile on her face and an obvious red mark between the collar of her shirt. Eren averted his eyes, looking skyward as he tried erase any thought of them together.

"Where the fuck is Petra?" Levi walked into the small room which contained 4 members of his squad, not the usual 5 that should be there.

"We haven't seen her this morning, knocked on her door but she didn't reply, she was pretty shattered last night, could've overslept." Gunther replied, rubbing the back of his neck at the scary look the Captain was giving them.

Levi turned without saying anything and walked out of the room and down the hall towards Petra's room.

The Captain knocked on her door. "Oi, Petra." He said a little louder than usual, who knows how much it would take to wake her up.

The only reply was a groan from inside the room, making him fetch the keys that Erwin had which unlocked each door, he stuck the key into the key hole and twisted it before opening the oak door, wondering what he would actually find, it was very unlike Petra to not be the first person in the squad room, unheard of for her not to show up at all.

On the bed was a wrapped up Petra who was sweating and shivering, her eyes closed and her eyebrows furrowed.

"Petra." He walked over to the bed and put his hand on her head before sighing.

"Mm..Captain?" Petra slowly opened her eyes and then immediately shut them after the harsh sunlight came in through the window.

"Tch..You've caught something." He held his hand to her forehead, she was hot to the touch.

"I overslept didn't I..? Sorry Captain, won't happen again." She rubbed her tired eyes and began to sit up, looking a little wobbly.

"Lie down." He gently pushed her back down and got a washcloth, drenching it in cold water and then ringing it out before putting it on Petra's sweat covered forehead, hoping it would bring her body temperature down a bit.

"Eld, go and get one of the doctors from medical." Levi said, turning towards the man to speak before quickly tending to the shivering Petra.

"It's cold.. " She muttered, pulling the blankets around herself more and coughing against them.

"You might feel cold but you're on fire." Levi looked at her with sympathy, being ill was the worst thing, he was obsessed with cleanliness and whenever he got ill it would be difficult to think about anything other than the germs all around him, inside of him, it made him shiver just thinking about that shit. That reminded him, he should probably get one of his makeshift cleaning masks.

When the doctor got there Levi was kitted out, he wasn't planning on getting ill along with Petra, it would be a disaster. The doctor put her bag down, getting her thermometer, checking what Petra's temperature was, feeling around Petra's chest with the stethoscope, all of the nessacery things for a checkup.

"Seems that Petra has a case of the flu, it's been going around recently." She explained while searching through the bag for medicine to treat Petra.

"She'll be fine again soon, right?" Levi asked, earning a nod from the woman.

"Give it a few days, make sure she takes this, drinks enough water and gets a lot of rest, she'll need it all to fight off the virus - though try not to worry, she's healthy and this isn't too severe, it'll clear up." She smiled warmly at him, putting the bottle into his hands."

"She needs to have 2 spoonfuls of this a day."

"Of course, thanks for the help."

The doctor left the room and the special operations squad all flew to the door.

"How is she-?"

"Captain one of us can look after her."

"Will she get better soon?"

Levi put his hand up and shook his head. "Eld, take over training today, I'll look after her, and she'll be fine in a few days."

"Yes sir." Eld replied and then looked at Petra with pity who looked uncomfortable, fussing because of the way her temperature kept changing.

"It's a case of the flu, though luckily Petra is healthy and will be able to pull through it with the medicine from the doctor."

"Yes, if you need any help sir just come get us!" Eren hit his hand against his chest, saluting with a determined expression.

"Tch, go on you lot, I know how to take care of someone." Levi waved his hand and got a glass of water for her to take the tablet with.

Once the squad were gone, Levi handed her the spoon that had the medicine on.

"Take this, then another dose later, I'll remind you."

Petra hummed tiredly, doing what he said and gulping down the not so nice tasting medicine.

"Now..Captain..I really..need to get up." She said while attempting to get up again, every few momemts a cough racking from her body.

"I need to..make yours, and the other guys tea..I always do it." She ran a hand through her messy hair and went to hold onto Levi to try to get up.

"Don't get up, I'll do it, the tea might help your throat and cough."

It seemed Petra was too tired to argue, she simply slipped back down into the covers, holding her hand against the cloth that was keeping her forehead cold.

...

After around 10 minutes Levi returned with 2 cups of tea, he carefully put them both down and then dunked the cloth back in the water to keep Petra cool.

He had made himself his usual black tea, but had made some ginger tea for Petra which should help soothe her throat and make her feel better in general.

"Here, drink some of this, just be careful, it's still hot." He motioned to the cup on the bedside table and watched as she took a few sips of the hot liquid before sighing contentedly, the drink making her agitated throat feel better.

"Now get some sleep alright? We need you to get better soon.. And..I hate seeing you ill." He put his hand on her head and ruffled her already messy hair, only getting a tired nod and smile from her. While Petra began drifting off, Levi decided to put himself to good use and quietly clean her room, knowing she wouldn't be able to do it while she was in this state, and he was not going to let her room become a pigsty.

Levi knew it probably seemed strange to the squad that he jumped at the opportunity to look after her, yet there was just a little feeling in his chest whenever he looked at her, he felt like he had to do this, he actually wanted to, and he knew the spiral he was falling down into. The promise he made himself to not get close to someone again was broken, but.. was that such a bad thing?

Rivetra hairpins/bobby pins headcanon

Okay so not sure if this is what you had in mind but I hope you still enjoy!! @amalprefs​

Petra did cut her hair short so it won’t be a distraction during missions. However, her bangs sometimes also get in the way

That’s why she has a set of bobby pins and hair clips always with her! 

Most are in all black but sometimes, when she feels like being cute and pretty for the day, she’d use this hair clip with a small bow on it

The guys, especially Oluo, would tease her about it and tell her how she looks more like a child with it on

They all shut up when Captain Levi complimented her

And then Levi proceeds to tell the guys: “If only you three pigs can be as neat and well put-together as Ral over here.” 

Okay so one time, the five of them were in the market shopping for captain’s cleaning supplies and some groceries when someone was stupid enough to actually try and steal from Levi

Before Levi could put the thief in his place, Petra already poked the man hard in the eye with one of her bobby pins

A big problem with DT17 Scrooge is that he has no real consequences for his actions.

It takes a lot from Don Rosa’s work for his characterization but ignores some things that do make that Scrooge and his tragedy work.

Don Rosa took advantage of some peculiarities of the duck comics, mostly how Hortense and Matilda are just missing. In Life and Times we see them as characters and their relationship with Scrooge, and how Scrooge’s greed destroys his relationship with them. And it is a relationship he can never get back, because Hortense and Matilda are missing in the present.

His parents are dead, he ruined his chances with Goldie (even tho there is some chance of reconciliation with that in Don Rosa’s take on the characters) but now he can have an another chance with Donald and the boys. An another chance of family.

In DT17 he has not lost anything really.

Angones said Scrooge’s big flaw was that he always believed he could ‘roll his sleeves and work to get everything back’ because ‘he is Scrooge McDuck!’ and the thing is, he is right!

The world he lives in, the world of Ducktales 2017 supports Scrooge.

He CAN always just get everything he lost due to being reckless back!

No one dies, no one even ages, so nothing is lost. He can just go back home to his parents, he isn’t even really missing his youth or the chances with Goldie because they are eternally young in any practical sense.

Sure, Della was lost on the moon for a few years but even the effects of that are downplayed.

And I get why it’d tempting to ignore the downsides of ADVENTURE and be always capable of bringing side characters back to play with and that’s valid for a funny adventure show, but it’s in direct conflict with this supposed tragedy of Scrooge they borrowed from a very different medium.

They didn’t have to take this part from Don Rosa but they did while removing the impact and why it worked.

Is Louie’s fixation with money/get-rich-quick schemes in any way related to him growing up in a lower income household and/or watching Donald struggle to keep down a job?

That was the initial idea in terms of his (and the other boys’) characterization.  Louie became fixated on money and luxury because they were always broke, Huey became hyper-responsible because Donald was so frequently overwhelmed and needed the help, and Dewey acted out because Donald put so much emphasis on trying to protect them and achieving some form of normalcy that Dewey wanted to stand out any way he could.
