"The Unicorn" from the upcoming Everyday Witch's Familiars Oracle deck I created with Deborah Blake, coming from Llewellyn Worldwide this May (preorder now)! Like the Phoenix I shared previously, this is one of the four 'Spirit' cards which feature mythological creatures. I've loved unicorns since I was a child, so was especially thrilled I got to paint one for this deck! This card represents purity and innocence.

When I was sketching ideas for this card, I imagined this wondrous, glowing unicorn, delicately walking atop water in a dark (but still enchanting!) forest. I was kind of going for the "Passing of the Elves" vibe in Fellowship of the Ring, quiet and mysterious solemn beauty. The image was created with ink, watercolor, and acryla gouache.
