It's been awhile since I've touched my doc, but here was the seven sentences I wrote!

“You’re going out again? You just saw your girlfriend,” her words poured out like a trickling venom from a cobra bite. “Well, Ma said it was fine,” Kaya said nonchalantly. “You got to hang out with your boyfriend after all.” “He’s not my…” Jackie gave a groan. Jackie had been friends with a lot of guys since she was a kid, but for some reason after she had dated Princeton, everyone in her life assumed that any man in her life was her significant other. “I was worried okay? He did something very impulsive, and I had to go check on it myself.”

Hi there! I’m A. Lawrence but you can call me Aki! I’m a disabled nonbinary author (and artist). I write supernatural horror comedy, dark fantasy, and cozy fantasy!

Ghost Punch is my main wip. A fun night of ghost hunting turns deadly when Shay discovers that not only are ghosts very real, she has the power to touch them. She’ll have to face deadly supernatural threats with the help of her annoying brother, best friend, an anxious witch, and an amnesiac ghost with a hole in his chest. The first two books are out!

Ghost Punch: That’s the Spirit

Last Light is a dark fantasy sapphic romance about a witch, a vampire, and a werewolf walking into a living library. Featuring a very small toad. (Coming June 2024)

Shadowcast is a gaslamp fantasy book about a young man named Emery living in a town besieged by shadow monsters. But not everything is as it seems, and shadows are always darkest when the light is brightest.

Summoning Trouble is a cozy fantasy series about a team that solves magical mysteries. Hiring a third person seems simple enough, but their first case as a trio ends up being a lot more than they bargained for. Features a cute moth dragon.

I have various other wips I poke at like Bury You Twice (horror comedy with zombies and shovels), Strange Paths (a creature feature horror), Thief and Guard (high fantasy comedy with a side of romance), and a fantasy series currently called Forest Books. Feel free to ask about any of them!

Past Present Future WIPS

Past: Forest books. Ohhhh forest books. You were my first published books. Your first two books just need some tweaks but the third is a DUMPSTER FIRE. You need all new names and better world building. I’ll come back to you. I swear it. It’s a book series about a handful of people (teenagers) trying to bring a dead deity back to life to save a dying land. It needs a lot of work. Mostly the names. Anyone good at names?

Present: I mean y’all know I’m going to pick Ghost Punch, right? I have a lot on my plate with a few other wips, but Ghost Punch is my favorite thing I’ve ever written and I love working on it so so much. It’s about a college dropout that finds out she can touch ghosts…so she can punch them. It follows her and her friends as they try to keep their small town from falling victim to supernatural threats. And it’s funny! And a lil scary! I’ll be going back to Thanks for the Memories VERY soon. It needs some patch edits on the 30k or so I’ve already written cause I wanna take it in a slightly different direction but it’s gonna be a fun ride

Future: Thief and Guard. I want to write you so bad. It’s been ten years. It’s a fantasy book about a thief who steals the wrong thing, the guard trying to bring him to justice, and the powerful magic that is threatening to sweep across the land. It’ll be so fun and eventually I’ll be able to write it (but I got to Shadowcast this year! I’m like 65k in and I love it a lot I’m very proud I’m finally writing it)

Past/Present/Future WIP Game

Past: Some of you might remember my #storgewip tag and to the old guard, I salute you. Storge is my old high school WIP which is a prequel to my old middle-school epic fantasy series, the Laoche Chronicles, and when I first made this blog, I'd just finished the first draft of the manuscript which took me 6 years to complete. It follows the Laine family as they try to keep their city-state from descending into civil war and anarchy as multiple political factions clash and the magical nature of their world is upended. I love it, but it's a disaster, so I've shelved it until I've developed the skills to do it justice.

Present: Y'all are sick to death of hearing me talk about Runaways

Future: End of the Road! It's a new adult coming of age story about road trips and ghosts! I've got a rough outline for it and I'm going to work on it over the summer.

you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!

unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!

tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.

bonus rules:

you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny

take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)

jurassic park has a good philosophical message but unfortunately the only thing i ever take away from watching jurassic park is "god i wish i could go to jurassic park." like yeah it's a blatantly obvious don't create the torment nexus scenario, but this torment nexus has DINOSAURS.

Happy STS! What book are your characters getting emotionally attached to?

I’m going to answer for Ghost Punch!

Duncan is a librarian, and therefore does a lot of reading.

But his favorite guilty pleasure read is cozy mysteries.

He will devour them in an evening and have a very nice time. He kinda feels like a middle aged mom when he reads them, thus the guilty pleasure, but he enjoys them, and lately has been getting really into cozy fantasy

I brought this unused Loki concept to life!!

I’d been eyeing this stunning design by @aleksibriclot for years, and a little while ago (after two years of working on it) I finally finished it! It has all the dark norse fantasy vibes that I wanted Ragnarok to be, and I figured hey, I can make it myself!

I had to up a lot of my leatherworking skills for this one, and I dove into a lot of new skills as well to try to make all the pieces a cohesive whole. It uses lambskin leather, suede cowhide, and veg tan, as well as an entire sheepskin for the cape!

This whole costume has truly been a labour of Loki love and I’m so glad I was able to share all the madness (process) and the finished look!
