I'm missing him again

It feels like a piece of me has gone away. I don't think it'll ever get better. I'll always tell the world the story of how my very best friend was a rat. I can't believe that I'll go home and he won't be waiting for me. I wish I had been a better mom. I know I was a good one, but I failed when he needed me most. I failed the purest soul of them all. I miss you. I'm so sorry, baby. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, my baby. I'm so sorry.

Oz is dead

Oz died. I found him last night. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I took him to be cremated today. I didn't check up on my rats when I got home Monday from Wisconsin. I asked my sister to feed them. I was on the couch sick with mono. Yesterday was Wednesday. I finally had the energy to come see my boys. The tray had been chewed through, Remus was running loose, and Oz was in the middle of the bottom floor, dead. I don't know what happened. I feel like such a terrible mom. I should've checked on them straight when I got home, but I didn't feel well. That's a terrible excuse. My heart rat is dead. Nothing can bring him back. My poor baby.... my poor baby....

Put a mite treatment on Cena and he is just laying around, not knowing what to do. He's also pouting because he's out here alone and wants to be in the cage. What a cutie.

I would purchase them from thepackrat, seeing as she gave me Cena and I’m going to be pretty loyal to her shop once I can, but she’s on hiatus T.T So I’m looking for another shop for the time being!

So, I'm having an issue with Link. None of the other boys have it, so I don't think it's mites. Honestly, he fights the most out of all of my boys and loses. Oz agressive grooms him and I think his nails were too sharp. Either way, he's gaining wounds and I'm having a few issues making them go away. It's obviously itchy, he keeps scratching at them. I may have to isolate the poor guy and keep a constant watch on him to help him heal easier. It's just frustrating, it's like his entire torso. And face. He's losing fur. Definitely not affecting his attitude, though, he's still a huge love.

Okay, a quick update

I haven’t been a big part of Tumblr lately. Life is getting hectic- I’m back in school, have been working my butt off, and have had a lots of bridesmaidly duties. Which will hopefully be finished for a little while at least here soon. (The wedding is October 1st but then I have two weddings I’m in next year... I guess I can’t complain that I am apparently liked but, geez... this takes a toll on my spirit and my wallet.)

This doesn’t stop me from hanging out with my boys every night, though! I still let them out on my bed and hang out with them. Lately I’ve been putting on Sword Art Online and watching it as we hang out.

My two youngest, Remus and Link, are getting so big! But they have the cute baby faces still x.x Both are getting braver and braver. Remus still hesitates a little bit unless Link does things first. It’s like a challenge. Link is a kisser. And a troublemaker. He has so many wounds on his back and I swear his fur will be stained pink from the bloody wounds. He starts fights, mainly with Cena, and of course loses them. Cena is a big ol’ guy.

Talking about Cena, I’m just overall happy with him. Bringing two young ones into the cage really brought them all together. It used to be that Cena would like being off and alone while Oz would chill in the hammock, they would never hang out together and Cena would never really come out of the cage. Despite them being annoying, I’m sure Cena loves his little brothers. Oz still stays in the hammock but the other three all cuddle in the house a lot. I put in a bird cuddle hammock thing that Link seems to have claimed, and also a Snack Shack log that Cena absolutely loves.

Oz gave me a scare. A little while a huge lump formed on his throat. I was unable to take him to the vet immediately, but that’s probably a good thing. His personality wasn’t really affected by it and, after researching and such, I figured out it was just an abscess. Which is still a bit scary, since abscesses near the lymph glands can apparently mean cancer. But I think it was just a result from a wound. Still, I’ll be taking him to a vet here soon, but his personality hasn’t changed. He’s still spunky as ever. It just scared me, I didn’t understand how I didn’t see a lump growing- it appeared overnight. I’m just glad I have a lot of good resources on the internet about rats. It’s already almost fully healed, which is great news. 

On that note, too, I found myself a new vet! A small animal vet in Granger. They said they’d look at three of my rats for just under $60, which is fantastic. And they’re very knowledgeable. I believe I’ll take the two younglings and Oz to get looked at. The younger two have always had a slight respiratory issue, Oz had that abscess. But Cena has always been in perfect health! I do need to find a solution to his deadly claws, though. No matter how much I try, I can’t get them to sit still for nail trimming alone. At times like those I kind of miss having a boyfriend so that we could work on it together. My sister is too afraid to do anything with nail cutting x.x

Oz may have a tumor on his neck. I'm pretty upset. If it is he'll be my first rat I'll lose. I'll write more later, I'm too sad to write and I want to spend time with him
