(This is for fun and character design practice, if you disagree with elements of the design you’re free to do so but please keep it to yourself, it’s a bit rude and I’ll be honest I’m kinda tired of people telling me I made batman too skinny)
writing lessons i learned from tolkien that go against conventional wisdom
- you can make up as much lore as you want
- characters can have like five different names if you darn well please Just finished the silmarillion. it’s not five names it’s more like fifty names
- characters can sit around at home not starting the story for as long as you want
- you can spend huge blocks of text describing events that happened in the past without dialog and can in fact write a whole book like that
- you can make viewpoint characters just not be there for giant important events and hear about it later and go ‘oh’
- after setting a standard for everything having an in-depth lore explanation, sometimes a giant spider or a weird dude in the woods can just kind of show up and you don’t have to explain it
One day in the year 2007, twenty-two teenagers from different backgrounds had gone to participate in what was supposed to be a reality show called Total Drama Island hosted by Chris McLean.
Isolated in a land surrounded by waters of sharks, made to be far from society, stuck to live in an old camp site, amidst people who are very different from you. Could it get any worse? Unfortunately for the campers, it sure did.
Because of the poor inspections meant to torment the participants, they did not know of the man in the woods. It hasn’t even been two days when the killings began to occur. All twenty-two campers were left behind in the island with a murderer on the loose. No hope. No help. Nothing. The self-centered host together with his crew immediately fled from the island when the first kill was discovered, and he remained missing from the public after.
Reports have been made from the family of the missing teenagers, but not much was done since the location of the island was never mentioned to anyone. What happened to the campers remains a mystery.
A month later, Chris arrives back on the island. He brought two people with him for help.
“It’s been a while, McLean. You left them there to rot. Why are you here again? Because of guilt? Because of sympathy? Or is it because you can’t stand the blames being sent to you for something you did? You’re just doing this because you miss being the good guy in the eyes of others. Who cares anyway? Just find them. Hope you find good news. And pray you don’t end up the same way you think they did.”
