First impressions matter
"No" "Your god has ordered you!" they scream, "you can't say no!" "Yes I can, he is your god too. if you are to learn under my wings," I unfurl them to add epithets, "then you will respect him." They act like a child, screaming and throwing things at me. It's very tempting to light them on fire. I don't really care if they have potential- they're too damn annoying. I sigh, pulling my wings back to me, then hear skittering feet from behind. "Storm's sending a message?" I ponder, seeing Nova my suspicions are confirmed. I happily ignore the woman in front of me to read the letter. "I am fine, no need to keep traveling to check on me, or sending raccoons to spy on me either. I assure you I'm working hard, and won't die on my own! Please just relax, I'll make sure to write to you weekly, and Nova will carry the messages for me." I smile softly, "I suppose I shouldn't baby him... he isn't even my child..." "STOP READING THAT AND TEACH ME" She screams at me, then attempts to steal the letter from my hands.
"No killing possible students because they attempted to steal a letter from your child." A raccoon angrily chatters at me, with an Australian accent. I simply grumble that Storm isn't my child and she deserved it.

The Storm begins
"Go ahead." He just looks scared, an emotion he doesn't show much. I look at him confused, unsure of the reason for it. The raccoon was in front of him, waiting to see if they should run or stay. It's the ideal situation, especially with two beings and many ways to run. Yet Stormheart hesitates. "I-" he looks terrified, "I- what if- I don't-" his breath is shaky, his eyes wild. "When- if-" I step forward, his eyes dart to me. I kneel down next to him and place a hand on his shoulder. "It's ok. If you're not ready that's fine. You're worried you'll mess up, that you'll hurt them?" I sit down, hand still on their shoulder, "I won't hurt you for a mistake. You don't want to hurt them." He starts crying, the tears streaming down his face, nose getting runny. "I'm not scared of getting hurt. I'm scared of the raccoons getting hurt." He sniffles, "I don't want to hurt them, I- I- I can-can't hurt the-em" So we sit there, as I cast protective spells, and spells to allow the raccoon to understand us. I use a wing as a blanket, and he snuggles into it. The raccoon's name is Nova, they carry a axe made by Storm. They likely will always be nearby to him.

UNFINISHED (In progress!!!) The Second Student.
"Storm, you should know by now you must wear the amulet." He turns sharply to me, as I stand in the doorway to his room. We're currently traveling. This is to teach him many things, like how to find and help raccoons- and magic. "This doesn't help me at all! It just makes my neck itchy! The raccoons don't recognize it at all!" He stomps his foot at the end, like an angry rabbit. I sigh in response then reply, "That's not what it does. That is a teleportation device for raccoons. Once you get their trust, then you can use it to get them home to the raccoon god. You were trusted with it for a reason, both your long lifespan and the fact you made Tug's item." "Speaking of, why can't I get the hammer back? You've told me never to take a raccoon's item, but never why not to."
I turn away, "otherwise they will die. Either naturally or not, take that item away and you take their immortality. I've already made the mistake of making a psychopath my student. Take a raccoon's item and I'll turn you into a new piece of furniture." I turn back, a mad glee in my eyes, "or maybe I'll sell you into the slave trade. Who are they going to believe?" I laugh, as his eyes show fear for the first time, "rather who will they want to! Dwarfs are perfect workers!" I control myself again before stating, "I've killed hundreds because they touched one of the raccoons. I control more power than you can imagine, and you will not escape my notice- let alone the anger of the raccoon god."
He nods, and in the movement and his eyes, I don't see fear. He has taken this as a mission. I now know he will never harm a raccoon on purpose, and would rather kill himself than ever take their item.
I haven't felt pride like this for a very long time.

UNFINISHED (In progress/ not OC lore currently)
"Hm..." "Stop going HMMM and decide if you'll follow orders or not." "This is a lot to think about!" I say, dramatically throwing my arms around, "Plus, so far you've seemed so grumpy." He looked annoyed at that, and I had to hide a smile... which only angered him more. "Why did THEY want YOU to teach me anyways? You clearly are too young, you look like you're a teenager!" "Thanks for the compliment, but I'm nearly 60 now." "I'm a dwarf! That's still pretty young." I glare in return, "60 thousand. I'm half dragon. I'm sure I can't die of old age now. I've also worked for the raccoon god since I was 36, so I'm plenty old enough." I grin at his astonishment, "Now what is your name?" "Stormheart, and this is Tug"
I look to the raccoon and cast tounges. "He any good?"
"Yeah, but please teach him that this is my hammer now."

A quiet night
The fire crackled, and raccoons dozed. I played with a bit of mana, and watched the stars. One of the newer raccoons wasn’t sleeping, calmly watching me instead.
Fair enough, I wouldn’t trust me either.
They guarded their friends (the others they had been with when found) with the knife I gave them. They had been on edge the whole day, so I handed it to them. They seem calmer with it- more in control of their situation.
I went back to playing with magic, changing to fire this time. The light from the flames was fun to watch, and my eyes weren’t bothered by it. The flames licked over my battle hardened fingers.
The raccoon eventually got up and walked over to me. I looked at them as they started moving, and I saw something like comfort in their eyes… they were comforted? Oh, I’ll see anyone who means harm. That makes sense.
They sat down beside me, leaning against my arm as if to sleep. Then I realized they were WEAK. Clearly they hadn’t slept in a long time.
So that night they did, as I watched over them. Others moved closer, looking for my familiar heat.
I just wrapped them all in a wing, like you would a child in a blanket.
I wouldn’t mind staying like this for a while.

Students
I've taught many now. The amulet they hold shows the trust placed in them. They travel as I do, just on one world alone, thus I now have time to myself.
I made sure my first apprentice was shown every time, a warning before I started teaching. I still carry the mask with me, it's with Chegg usually. I won't let such a mistake happen again. I'm careful who I choose, they are to learn and continue to work.
Their needs will be taken care of.
They will still not see eternity, only I shall continue that long. Never would I place such a burden on them.

An unforgivable act
"You seem confused." Their breath was short, fear was the only thing I saw in their eyes. I'd taken them in as an apprentice, as instructed. THEY had told me to teach others.
"What... what did I do wrong!?" He yelled back, his voice cracking.
"What did I tell you. What was the FIRST," I pause, controlling my anger as flames circled me. It was a force of habit. "What did I tell you first? What was the first lesson?"
He didn't reply. He didn't have to. That look in his eyes was the answer. Understanding filled them as he looked at the raccoon.
They had the mask in their hands.
And it was torn in half, with their body.

THEY summoned me.
They pointed to my wings, and that’s when I realized they had grown. I can now fly with them.
Then they pointed to the raccoon amulet. In my mindless travels I’ve found millions of raccoons.
Then they through me a party. It took until the cake came out for me to realize it was my birthday. I hadn’t paid attention to that for centuries now.
I’m now 50 thousand years old, and THEY gave me a book with pictures.
Those pictures are of everyone I’ve lost. All my companions are in there.
The book is a photographic record of whose died and whose alive. If they’re in the book, it’s too late.
I don’t want eternity anymore…

It’s been a long time. I got attached again… I regret it.
They passed. They ALL do.
I’m just moving mindlessly for the most part. I think others are scared of me. One saw me and called me “the crazy raccoon lady” under their breath. When I turned to look at them, my eyes sharp for the first time in days… I recognize some of their features.
Could some of my companions survived? They look so alike…
My eyes must be playing tricks on me.

It’s been a while. THEY have been moving me around pretty rapidly.
I don’t mind, keeps my mind busy. Can’t think when working, and I don’t have time to sleep.
Yesterday THEY summoned me, with that horrible look in their eyes.
I’m scared, they haven’t moved me yet. Where am I going? Who will be dead this time?
Why is my life so god damn long…

I now know why they looked at me so. This world? It’s familiar. It’s where my companions decided I wasn’t worthy of their company.
I know this isn’t real to them, this is a copy of that world- where they died right after I left.
I hate this world.
I’m so sorry… I should have helped you more…

The raccoon lord summoned me. I recognize them right away, but they looked at me with concern in their eyes.
I was uncomfortable with such a look. “Why look at me so?” I asked them.
They didn’t answer. I was placed on another world.

I’ve learned why some raccoons die. The items that they carry is the key to their immortality too. I now need to make sure none lose theirs. I can’t afford to fail.
I’m starting to see why my companions moved so quickly.

This world is in war. I’ve been here for a few years now, and there is so much bloodshed.
The raccoons are fine for the most part… but I didn’t get to all of them in time.
I thought they lived forever? Why have some died to old age?
Will they leave me too?

I wake up in a new place. Seems like I need to find more raccoons then.
I spent a few centuries in the summoners world, as I’ve come to call it. It was somewhat casual, with my study’s and new companions. I learned demons had lifespans… I eventually gave up on having any as companions.
Why does everyone die before me?

There are demons that are… companions in this world. It’s quite nice actually. I’ve gotten quite a few now.
Turns out that you have a “summoning level” or something like that. It controls the amount of demons you can control. They reside in your mind, so it can be confusing at first. They also have spells here, ones I hadn’t seen before.
THEY have chosen to let me stay here, I’m not sure why though. I haven’t seen any raccoons, or anything similar to them.
In the meantime, I will learn these spells.

Today I was teleported. I know because I wasn’t lying in the same area anymore. I sigh, the sinking pain spiking through my core. Back to work, THEY have spoken. I must move on now.
Jhimn attempts to cheer me up, I’m sorry I couldn’t smile back to you.
