If you go to the pool this summer, watch out for False Caustics. They look like the dancing lights at the bottom of the pool, but they stay mostly still.

False Caustics (Praya dulcis) are in fact siphonophores that colonize pools with poor filtration systems. If you swim through them, they will burn your skin. Their sting is rarely fatal, but it causes excruciating pain that can last several years.

These siphonophores are colonies of tiny organisms related to jellyfish. They are the only known species in their group to live in fresh water, and likely imitate caustics as a form of camouflage.

Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

My room is finally back in a state where I can resume work! Also got to sleep in my own bed the past 2 nights for the first time in 2 weeks, it's been so nice! And better yet, no bed bug bites, so I'm in the clear! I have 4 paintings in the works and I am so excited to start back on those again, it's been killing me not being able to work on them ;;

Music talk, I guess

I watched the entirety of Metalocalypse with my partner (thank you for giving me the opportunity to finally watch it, my love 💙) and it unlocked something in my brain.

I've been interested in music stuff for a good bit but haven't fully felt like pursuing it just yet, it's been a little something between art.

Idk what it is, but something about the show has motivated me further.

And an even stranger thing about all this is that I'm interested in death metal now, which was a genre I used to not even like. I'm actually interested in doing those kinds of vocals.

I was doing singing practice on and off and I still have a ways to go but this would be a fun project to figure out. And I know for those types of vocals I need to do some training and do it in moderation so I don't destroy my cords.

The thought excites me greatly though! Maybe I should get back in touch with my brother (he's the musically inclined one out of the two of us) and talk to him about it, although that's not a genre he likes. He might appreciate the instrumental side of it though, he is a drummer. My partner is also into music stuff, they play guitar a little with a lovely axe and used to be in a band as a vocalist, so I could work with them too.

We shall see what becomes of all this but it's definitely gonna be a slow start. Hopefully within the next few months I'll get the ball rolling, especially since my room will be in better condition as a workspace.
