Hello! Zenon is both adorable and an excellent name! I just wanted to ask, and forgive me if you've answered this before but, is the discoloration on Zenon's shell just something that happens naturally with age or they retaining scutes or is it previous damage/shell rot/infection that hasn't been shed yet?
Hi, thank you for asking about Zenon! Zenon is an active and curious boy who keeps exploring and doing unexpected things, we would say the ‘uneven’ pattern on its carapace is formed partly as a natural result of its character. It’s living in an indoor aquarium close to the window (we prefer to let it enjoy natural sunlight in addition to the extra UV lamp), that’s also why the shell has developed additional colours. We clean the aquarium weekly and take it to the vet for regular check, so it’s a healthy turtle :) And it’s still growing fast and shedding all the time. By the way, I use filter for some of the posts, maybe that can explain the discolouration as well. Thanks for asking!
