To talk more about the Mortal Kombat RE AU (Mortal Evil for short) my twin and I are working on, here's the basics I got down. (This is infecting my brain dude).

It will sort of be Johnshi centered as they're the catalyst of the story, but it's not the only ship. Taleena will be included as a parallel to them, which @yxnswife came up with. They both will meet tragic ends.

The OIA will be an umbrella rebrand, which Kenshi used to work for. This is inspired by Amara's idea for Kenshi to be a Mia parallel cause of both of them working for corrupt groups and my idea for Johnny to be kidnapped like Mia.

The OIA would've messed with tarkat and created what I call moldy tarkat in replacement of the mold from RE7

Cassie, Takeda, and Jacqui do exist here, with Cassie and Takeda being twins. Thank Amara for that, their brain in amazing. Also Johnny, Kenshi, Sonya, and Jax are a power polycule. Also Amara's idea.

Shang Tsung is the big bad, having been behind the moldy tarkat. It is created after he takes over the OIA

Kenshi, taking after Ethan, is infected. But unlike him, Kenshi dies as a mercy kill after he kills Johnny.

The characters that aren't the important characters and big bad of this AU are part of a small apocalypse commune group.

That's pretty much all the important basic info. If you want to know more, feel free to send a question. This AU is so exciting.

Little Railao + Tomas bc the brain rot was hitting crazy

“Do you think he's dead?”

A soft smack stirs Tomas from his sleep before another voice pipes up, this one softer than the first.

“Don't be stupid, Lao. He's sleeping,” a pause, “and rather uncomfortably by the looks of it.”

That fully rouses Tomas from his slumber, hazy awareness creeping in with the addition of a chill that pulls shivers from his body.

“M’ cold,” he slurs, hand weakly fumbling around for a blanket.

A warm hand comes to rest against his forehead, and with a pleased hum, Tomas leans into it. The quest for a blanket is forgotten.

Above him, unbeknownst, Raiden frowns. He shares a look with Kung Lao, who sports a matching expression, tinged with concern.

“He's burning up,” Raiden says, still whispering despite being sure that Tomas isn't fully present at the moment. He tosses a pleading look to Kung Lao, heart aching in sympathy.

Kung Lao's eyes flick to Tomas’ face. He seems to have fallen back asleep, features slack and flushed slightly red. Kung Lao tries to think back, and see if there was any sign of this sudden sickness. The other man had gone to bed fine enough, claiming exhaustion after their usual date at the teahouse.

He had a slight flush then too, if Kung Lao thinks harder about it. He supposes he can be forgiven for not noticing sooner, too distracted by the curve of Tomas’ lips and the flutter of Raiden’s lashes.

“Let's get something to help him cool down.” Kung Lao moves before Raiden can respond, hoping that if he moves fast enough he can stave off this cold before it gets any worse.

Moments later, when he returns, Kung Lao is greeted with the sight of a flustered Raiden, now sprawled out across the bed with an armful of their boyfriend. It seems that even in this state, Tomas had his strength. As soon as Raiden sees his other partner, he sends another pleading look, though definitely more desperate.

Kung Lao holds back a laugh, stopping for a moment to bask in the sight before him.

Tomas doesn't seem to know (or care, for that matter) of the current predicament, content to lazily encircle Raiden’s waist and bury his head into his chest. Raiden wasn't doing himself any favors, rubbing circles into Tomas's shoulder.

With a shake of his head and a smile, Kung Lao goes to rescue his boyfriend from their boyfriend. He can't have Raiden also getting sick.

It takes some shuffling, lots of rearranging, and many grumbled promises for kisses to get Tomas to let go of Raiden so they can settle him in properly. Once Tomas is tucked in, Raiden places the cool rag against his forehead. The relief is immediate and, despite his complaints of the cold, Tomas relaxes easily. Both Raiden and Kung Lao let out breaths of relief.

“Come, let's make some soup. It will be good for all of us,” Raiden says. He tosses another look at Tomas, who doesn't so much as twitch. “He should be fine, for now.”

Kung Lao hums his agreement, already heading towards the kitchen. The faster they get the soup prepared the faster he could return to Tomas’ side.

Catching on to his eagerness, Raiden laughs quietly as he follows Kung Lao out of the room. They set to work, dancing and looping around the kitchen like twin snakes. In just an hour, there's a simple stock boiling, filled with vegetables.

Proud of their handiwork, Kung Lao and Raiden prepare themselves to spend the next day or so nursing Tomas back to health. It's not so bad, especially knowing that Tomas would do the same for them.

In the end, despite his taunts and teases, it's Kung Lao who catches the mini cold. Tomas ends up primarily taking care of him, happy to laze about in the bed with his newfound immunity.
