𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 fire lord! zuko x fire lady! reader
Tumblr media
authors note: Firstly I just want to apologize for the hiatus, I want to be more active from now on! I’m starting finals next week so I’ll thankfully be done with this semester soon and will also have more time to write. Anyways I hope you enjoy!! I also want to apologize if Zuko is ooc here.
requests:
First of all, your tumblr looks sooooo cool! I’m looking forward to reading all of your future work! Imagine this: Zuko is annoyed by people constantly asking him about a future heir, but when one day his friends also start to ask, and even his uncle and his own mother join the baby fever train, it’s too much for him so he complains about it to his wife who only reassures him with her lovely self and her understanding smiles, not telling him yet that she is in fact pregnant. What do you think ?
Can you write an imagine with zuko who is clearly, utterly and soooo obviously in love with the reader (outgoing, courageous, loving) and maybe with the prompt “So you...well...I mean...I could give you a massage?” Thank you a lot! ^^
Tumblr media
As the current Fire Lord and Lady, it wasn’t uncommon for the citizens of the Fire Nation to be deeply invested in your relationship - it was to be expected especially due to the uncommon nature of your union. What you weren’t expecting were Zuko’s close friends and relatives being wrapped up in your business as well. Being outside of team avatar, you were naturally more welcoming to his friend's constant questioning, but Zuko on the other hand was not. He couldn’t understand why they cared so much all of the sudden. They hadn’t been as interested when he was in a relationship with Mai - so why did they care so much now?
It wasn’t as if you weren’t getting along with his friends or family - you got along with them quite well and were very loved by them in fact. Outside of them though, you weren’t always as welcomed, unfortunately, the Fire Nation was still coming to terms with having the daughter of an Earth Kingdom General as their Fire Lady. The arranged marriage was put in place to solve several different ‘problems’. After Zuko broke up with Mai several years ago, he hadn’t begun dating anyone else due to being so busy but he’d eventually be expected to have an heir in the next coming years.
Although they had gotten better, tensions among the Earth Kingdom Colonies were still high and both sides were having difficulty keeping them under control. Eventually, an agreement was made for the daughter of a high-ranking Earth Kingdom General to marry Zuko - that daughter being yourself. Arranged marriages certainly weren’t unheard of in either nation - but a union of this sort was definitely unique.
Though he certainly wasn’t thrilled about it, Zuko understood that it was for the good of the people - and it wasn’t like there was anything he could do about it anyway. Even with his position as the recently crowned Fire Lord there still wasn’t much he could do.
On the other hand, you understandably had some issues coming to terms with your new situation at first. Despite being known by those around you as friendly and just a joy, in general, to be around - the woman Zuko had first met was quite the opposite. He could recall it like it was yesterday. Though it was awkward and stressful at the time, he now considered it to be the best day of his life.
“She’s in there.” A female servant whispered to the young man quietly, as if she didn’t want to speak loud enough for you to hear from your place at the balcony.
“Thanks,” he replied with a soft smile, bidding the elderly woman goodbye as she shuffled down the hallway. Turning towards you he was faced with a warm tropical breeze. His advisors had arranged for the two of you to meet a couple of weeks before that dreaded day, and for some reason, they thought Ember Island was the appropriate place. A combination of anxiety and general distaste for being on the island was causing him to be quite stressed - which led him to be more awkward than usual.
“Um, hello?” he spoke up faintly, as if not to startle you. He was sure you heard him come in, but you hadn’t turned around since he entered the small room. You stood several feet away with your hands placed on the railing, your [hair-texture] locks sifting gently with each gust of wind along with your predominantly red clothing. It was against what you had wanted to wear that day but it didn’t seem as if you had much a say in anything going on in your life recently.
You understood that doing this would be for the greater good of the Earth Kingdom and that your situation could technically be worse. You could have been married off to some old creep - but if you were being honest with yourself being married to the Fire Lord sounded just as bad. As you turned around though, you were surprised at the face you were met with.
He had a much younger face than you had expected, but the slight hollowness of his cheeks and the worry lines on his forehead told you that he had experienced things beyond his years. He also happened to be quite handsome - not that you wanted to admit it though. You had been bent on hating him ever since your father told you who you’d be wedding.
He was the leader of the Fire Nation, of course, you would hate him! The country that has had a century-long reign of terror on the world - and now you found yourself engaged to their leader. What had you done so wrong in your life to deserve this?
As much as you wanted to plan on running away the first chance you got, you knew deep inside that it would only cause tensions to increase and more issues to arise. You wanted the best for the residents of the Earth Kingdom, so you agreed to go through with it, but did so resentfully - which you had every right to feel that way.
But as you glared up at the young male next to you and tried to keep your attention off of the scar over his left eye - you couldn’t help but wonder what if this was the man who joined the avatar in defeating the Fire Lord? He wasn’t what you expected at all. Standing in full armor with his hair holding the fire nation insignia in a top knot - he looked awkward and out of place. You almost felt bad for him - keyword is almost.
“What do you need Fire Lord?” you questioned him, turning your gaze back to the rushing waters of the ocean.
“Um,” he faltered slightly, probably not anticipating your response. “I just wanted to introduce myself-“
“I know who you are.” you brushed him off, turning around and walking towards him - grabbing his collar and pulling him to your height. “We might be getting married but if you think for a second I will ever be nice to you, you are sadly mistaken.” you hissed at him before letting him go and walking out of the door.
Zuko couldn’t recall how long he stood there watching your form leave, all he remembered was standing there like an idiot with a red face. He hadn’t expected you to like him of course but he surely wasn’t expecting that.
As he reminisced on memories long ago while sipping his Uncle’s tea, he couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his features. As stated earlier, It may have been an unpleasant memory back then but now he considered the day he met you to be the best day of his life. Though your relationship had surely faired through many complications for a while in the beginning - surprisingly, you became fond of Zuko over the years.
It was certainly a long time coming but that strange friendship you two shared eventually evolved into love against all odds. That didn’t mean you weren’t constantly giving him an ear full (as you should tbh) your first months together. But as time progressed and you learned that he may not have been the evil prince that you had heard so much about, at least not anymore.
He wasn’t that same angsty teenager he had been years ago looking for the avatar, he was now a young adult growing quite well into the position of the Fire Lord - which was no easy feat. Taking another sip of tea, he watched his Uncle and Mother come to take a seat with him.
“How is it, Nephew?” His Uncle asked with a mischievous grin and a raise of two bushy eyebrows - albeit already knowing the answer.
“It’s great as always Uncle,” Zuko responded with a small smile, his Uncle's expression making him just a bit concerned, causing his Mother to chuckle. Though she had gained a few wrinkles over the past couple of years, she was still as radiant as she had been in her youth. She was also much happier being able to live with the family she had been apart from for many years without fearing Ozai’s intervention. It came with a price though - it seemed as if her relationship with her estranged daughter who was now on the run would never be resolved. She never lost hope though.
“Zuko,” his mother began speaking, catching the young Fire Lord’s attention with a raise of his eyebrows. “When are you going to give me a grandchild?” She asked teasingly, eager to see his reaction. In turn, her son had barely kept himself from spitting out the mouthful of tea.
“Why do you ask that?” He choked out in between a series of coughs with Iroh patting his back gently.
“You haven’t?” She asked in between chuckles, noticing how her son got bewildered at the mention of having children of his own. “You know you’ll eventually have to have an heir at some point right?”
“It’s not that I haven’t thought about it... but Y/N and I are just really busy.” He thought aloud, wishing he could run a hand through his hair - but was unable to since it was pinned in a top knot.
“Zuko, you never know when you’ll get this time of peace again. What better time to raise a child?” Iroh reassured, wiggling his eyebrows. Letting out a groan, the young Fire Lord attempted to mentally prepare himself to go through this same conversation every time he visited his family.
Over the next couple of weeks, the constant badgering he received from his friends and close relatives started to frustrate him further, so who could he turn to? You of course.
Being married for several years now, you were more than used to Zuko’s rants, so you simply just reclined on the bed with an eyebrow raised as he paced back and forth.
“I don’t get it! Why is everyone so concerned about when we’re going to have a child or not?” He questioned seemingly no one as you attempted to keep your face from contorting into a smile. It wasn’t as if you didn’t understand his frustrations, it was just funny to watch, especially since you were already pregnant.
You were surprised that he hadn’t noticed honestly, with you staying in for the past few days due to feeling sick. Who could blame him though? It wasn’t as if he wasn’t attentive and loving as a husband, he was extremely busy as of recent-and also just dense at times. After noticing his silence for a few moments as he looked over the balcony, you decided that maybe this could be the perfect time to tell him.
Getting up and sneaking behind him, you snaked your arms around his waist and turned so you could see his face. He let out an audible sigh of what sounded like relief before returning your smile and your hug.
“You want a head massage?” You questioned pulling away, wiggling your fingers playfully.
“Please.”
For the past couple of years, Zuko had been letting his hair grow out so now it rested around his shoulders.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” You started tentatively, but as usual, he was too caught up in the sensation of your fingers raking across his scalp to entirely understand what you were saying, so he just nodded in response. “I’m pregnant.” You stated plainly, ceasing your scratching. Not getting a response for a few moments, you turned to face him with a worried expression.
Much to your surprise he was grinning up at you and placed a warm hand on your cheek. “Really?”
“Yes. I’m sorry it took me so long to tell y-“ you were abruptly cut off by him pulling you into another hug and placing a kiss on the crown of your head. “So you’re happy about it?”
“Couldn’t be happier.” He responded sincerely, leaning into your shoulder so you couldn’t see the redness on his cheeks.
Maybe your family and friends would finally leave the two of you alone now?

I have suddenly gained the inspiration to write again

Bryke is back at Nickelodeon in a big way.
⚡️💙⬇️💙⚡️
Mike and I are heading up a new studio dedicated to expanding the Avatarverse. Here’s our quote from EW.com (link for the full article):
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 19 years since we created Avatar: The Last Airbender. But even after all that time, there are still many stories and time periods in Aang’s world that we are eager to bring to life. We are fortunate to have an ever-growing community of passionate fans that enjoys exploring the Avatarverse as much as we do. And with this new Avatar Studios venture we have an unparalleled opportunity to develop our franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale, in myriad exciting ways and mediums. We are exceedingly grateful to Brian Robbins and Ramsey Naito for their enthusiasm and respect for the Avatar property and us as its stewards. From the start, they’ve supported our ambitious plans and created a positive, proactive environment for us. We’re excited to be back at Nickelodeon where Avatar began, doing what we do best in the biggest way possible. We can’t wait to build the great teams and productions to make all of this fantasy a reality.” – Bryan Konietzko & Michael DiMartino

request: what would you think about an Iroh II imagine with the reader being involved in politics as well and since he is her supervisor, she wants to prove herself to him but he just never seems to be satisfied with the job she does.. so one day she gathers all her confidence and confronts him about his cold behavior towards her and finds out that he is actually trying to distance himself from her to forget his feelings towards her? :) genre and ending is up to you, could be angst, could be happy
author’s note: thank y’all for 71 followers🥰, I love each and everyone of you so much! also I hope you don’t mind anon but I went with a fluffier route with this one - angst isn’t exactly my forte and also I was struggling so I had to deviate from the request a lil bit - I hope that is okay! also to be clear this is about iroh 2 (zuko’s grandson) not his uncle😂.

Approaching the podium with a serious expression, you tapped the microphone several times to ensure it was working correctly. Most people would be frightened addressing a crowd of people this large, especially since said crowd included important figures in society such as the president of republic city and councilman Tenzin - but you weren’t most people.
Being a high ranking officer in the United Forces, you were at times required to give your opinion on certain matters going on around the world. Today’s matter involved Kuvira, who was currently attempting to take over the entire Earth Kingdom. In the past, others had been careful of what they said about her - seeing as what she did to punish those her were in opposition of her ideologies. You couldn’t care less.
You weren’t a resident of the Earth Kingdom - so you had no reason to fear her, but it wasn’t like you exactly feared anyone else for that matter. There wasn’t a person on the planet who intimidated you in any way, shape or form. You weren’t going to hold back your honest opinion because certain people were present or because it may make her followers upset.
“My opinion of Kuvira is that she’s a domineering power tripping dictator and will eventually have to be taken out by force.” (if you know where I got that from ily) There was a meager moment of silence before the people in the audience began to erupt in both fits of rage and confusion. You opened your mouth to speak again but were silenced by a hand gently pulling your arm backwards. Knowing immediately who it was you just allowed yourself to be pulled out of sight and into the corridor as President Raiko attempted to calm the crowd down.
“You think you could’ve it given it to them easier than that?” the crown prince of the Fire Nation joked with you, the only person you had allowed to do so. You lean against the wall next to him and began to absentmindedly play with a piece of your {hair-texture} hair.
“I don’t really see an issue with my opinion, they asked for my honest thoughts and I gave that to them.” you responded, bringing your eyes to meet his own - causing his breath to hitch in his throat for a moment. Despite knowing you since your early days in the military you never ceased to fluster him with one glance.
At the time of your first meeting he was dating someone else, and while you definitely weren’t the cause of it’s end, his growing crush on you wasn’t exactly helping either.
“That’ll never last.” he recalled you saying, reapplying the bandages around his wounds.
“What do you mean?” he asked nervously, confused why as to why you were bringing up his girlfriend who had visited several hours ago.
“She’s only with you because you’re going to be Fire Lord one day.” you admitted in a somewhat frigid tone that he’d already gotten used to in the few weeks he had known you. Being blunt was apart of your personality, but it was also apparent that you were maybe the teensiest bit jealous. But that wasn’t the reason why you were telling him this, she really was only with him because of his status. You could see right through her facade - all of those flirtatious looks and fawning. They barely had anything in common anyways.
Besides being jealous, you didn’t want to see your new friend getting hurt. Since joining the United Forces, he was the only one who wasn’t thrown off by your icy exterior and acerbic personality. A surprise to those around you, Iroh wasn’t miffed by you at all, maybe slightly intimidated - but you were still someone he wanted to be around.
“What do you mean she only wants to be with me because I’m going to be Fire Lord one day? I-I think she actually loves me!” At 18 years old, the much younger Iroh lacked the confidence he held as General and held the awkwardness that his grandfather had at his age. In return, you flipped your hair over your shoulder and got up to exit the room without sparing him another glance.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
They ended up breaking up about a week later. He learned that even though your words may hurt at times, you only wanted what was best for him as his closest friend. He never doubted you again after that day.
Years into the future, you both rose in the ranks of the United Forces to become both its General and Admiral. Your friendship had surpassed twenty years (y’all old asf💀) at this point, and you both were closer than ever. Your fellow crew mates would often tease and prod at your friendship, but you never paid them much mind. You had insisted that you didn’t have the time to date with your occupation, and Iroh himself had actually seriously dated another woman during that time period. You had met her several times and gave her your seal of approval of sorts, much to his pleasure.
Unfortunately, his relationship with her didn’t last either. Sure, she was nice and attractive but if he was being completely honest with himself he didn’t really love her - at all. He loved you. He thought dating someone for over ten years would aid him in ridding him of his feelings but they did nothing but strengthen him. It didn’t help that his mother and grandfather were constantly in his ear about what a great Fire Lady you’d make and how he was getting old and how they would eventually need an another heir to rule the Fire Nation some day. At this point his only choice was to try and create some distance between you both as a last resort - but it would be difficult with how intertwined your lives had become due to the nature of you occupations.
You on the other hand were in a somewhat similar position, but dealing with your feelings in your own way - which pretty much meant not dealing with them at all. You had rationalized your emotions to the point of convincing yourself that nothing was ever going to happen between you both. Sure, he had made it known that you were his most trusted friend - but he would never see you in a romantic light. You had been friends for around twenty years, if he was actually interested he would’ve most likely made a move by now. It was a foolish thought to ever think you could become the Fire Lady - surely your younger self must’ve been daydreaming.
Regardless of your nationality you had no noble ancestry - and the majority of those who were married into the royal family had some form of dignified background, which you lacked. Even with your high ranking status in the military, your family paled in comparison to that of his own. It was out of the question - even if there was a slim chance that he did have some inkling of a thing for you, it would never work in the long run. But fortunate for you a particularly dangerous assignment would change all of that.
Although it was commonplace to have to deal with groups of rebels attempting to disrupt peace in one of the nations, this group was particularly vicious. Having already caused a disturbingly large amount of deaths, it was beyond time for the United Forces to step in instead of whatever those in the area were trying to do because they were clearly struggling. Normally only being called in for matters that involved issues over the water, you were called in as backup due to the severity of this situation. You hadn’t spoken to Iroh in weeks, or seen him for that matter. It almost seemed as if he was avoiding you. You would have brought it up to him but you were never given the chance.
Though the battle itself was already hectic and strenuous as is, your emotions weren’t helping you any. Normally you had no issue with keeping your feelings at bay, but it seems as if everything had come to a boiling point. There were countless questions running rampant through your mind as you dodged flying shards of ice and stone. Normally being a formidable bender, you were definitely off your game. That was what led to you making an uncharacteristically reckless decision.
Although he hadn’t acknowledged you in any way, you still stayed close to him during the skirmish. You did your best to deter any element that was bended at him away, not that he needed the help. But when you noticed the crackle of lightning coming near him from behind, your body moved on it’s own as your ran in front of it.
You were granted medical leave for three weeks, leaving the fight with a rather large gash in your left leg. You spent your newly given free time mull over the stupidity of your actions. Did you think that was going to make him notice you or something - and what were you thinking attempting to stop lightning from striking him? He’s a lightning bender for spirits sake, he could’ve just redirected it! You had never been more embarrassed in your life. Out of all of the mistakes you’d made over the course of your career this was by far the worse one.
Iroh on the other hand was wrecked with guilt. The love of his life (that sounds so cheesy ew) just risked her safety for him and he didn’t even have the confidence to confess to you. He feared your response most of all, but maybe that was what he needed at this point. Maybe all this time he just needed to hear your verbal rejection to get over you. So he decided the next time he would finally confess to what he had been denying for over twenty years now.
That next time ended up being a formal event in republic city, being the soon to be Fire Lord and Admiral of the United Forces, you were of course required to come. Although you were used to the stuffiness of these prestigious occasions, you were seriously considering opting out of it - but you were more mature than that. Now that your leg was fully healed, you had no excuse to get out of this. Even after the strike left you with a rather gnarly scar, your disdain towards facing Iroh was worse. You didn’t even know how to approach him. Staying near his mother and grandfather for the majority of the evening, he seemed pretty out of it.
He had never been much of a socialite but he normally would atleast greet some of the other guests who had been invited that evening. He wouldn’t even laugh at any of the retired Commander Bumi’s jokes - which was definitely new. Watching you sulking in a corner, your old Conrad approaches you with a smile.
“Everything okay?” he questioned, genuinely concerned.
“Yes.”
“Oh come on {nick-name} I know you. What’s wrong?” you childishly huffed and turned your head in response - he was right. Despite being closed off most of the time, with your emotions running wild you were all but an open book. Realizing you weren’t going to fess up how you actually felt - Bumi laughed heartedly and turned around, but not before whispering some advice over his shoulder. “He’s outside, you should go talk to him.”
Setting your untouched drink down, you picked up the hem of your robes and shuffled outside. You shivered as the crisp night air slipped right in between the expensive dress you were wearing, and mentally cursed yourself for not bringing a shawl. After wandering around for about ten minutes, you finally found him seated on a bench underneath a large tree - a pond with spirits and turtle ducks alike swimming around in the moonlight.
Approaching him with an irritated expression, you decided to get straight to the point. “What’s your problem? Why have you been avoiding me?” He didn’t even bother to look you in the eye, continuing to watch the small creatures float around in the pond.
“Nothings wrong.”
“I’m not stupid Iroh just tell me what I did.” He was already feeling awful for not visiting you after you got injured, and the slightest in killing of sadness in your voice was killing him.
“You didn’t do anything. It’s my fault.” You weren’t even annoyed anymore - just confused.
“What did you do?”
“It’s what I didn’t do.”
“What did you not do?” you asked incredulously, your impatience causing you to grow frustrated again. Before you could utter out another word, you felt an arm gently pull you downwards so you were almost at eye level with him.
“Im sorry you got hurt and I-I love you.” he stated matter of factly, eyes searching your face to gage your reaction. “I understand if you don’t fe-” before he could complete his sentence he was startled by you taking a sideways seat on his lap.
“You’re an idiot.” you replied, taking one of his hands to hold in your own. “I love you too.” Despite feeling as if your entire body was on fire, you leaned in to press a kiss against his lips, your heart speeding up when you felt him kiss back and and wrap a free arm around your waist. When you pulled apart he sported a bashful grin while you looked away to avoid the awkwardness.
“I feel stupid because we wasted away our youth skirting around our feelings.” you said somewhat dejectedly, wondering why you both waited to confess so long. He turned your hand around and placed a chaste kiss to it, causing you to get even more flustered.
“I can make up for that time if you’ll let me.” you rolled your eyes at his cheesiness, giggling softly.
“How exactly do you plan on doing that?”
“You want to ditch this party?” he asked, his eyes sparkling at the thought of leaving.
“That’s pretty unprofessional don’t you think.”
Chuckling in response he took his other hand and placed it beneath your knees and stood up, causing you to be at a loss for words yet again. “I think the soon to be Fire Lord and Fire Lady can afford to skip out on one party, it’s not like we’d enjoy it anyway.
“You aren’t wrong.” you said and snuggled into his chest a bit, making him blush a bit for once. Setting you back on your feet, he took your hand and led you away from the venue. The rest of your night was spent exploring republic city, aimlessly walking around and making conversation. It might sound boring to others your age, but with Iroh by your side you wouldn’t want it any other way.

request: Hello, if you're talking requests for atla. May I request a sokka x reader in which she works under Piandao and during Sokka's Master episode they meet and become close? Maybe they meet again during the finale or the Gaang asks her to accompany them on the rest of their journey?
author’s note: I am so sorry for taking forever to post something! I rewrote this and like 2 other fics almost 3 different times because I didn’t like how they were turning out so I hope this was okay🥺. thank u for requesting and I hope y’all enjoy!
Tumblr media
“You want me to do what now?” you asked the boy in front of you incredulously, attempting to wiggle your shoulders out of his hands’ grip. He straight up lied to your face and expected you to just get over that? It had nothing to do with his water tribe heritage of course - being that you hated the fire nation’s outlook on the other countries and this pointless war as much as Piandao did. You just didn’t understand why he felt the need to lie to you about it!
During the meager amount of time you had to spend with him, you two had an immediate - albeit odd connection. He was able to get you out of your shell of composure in a way that Piandao and Fat were never successful in. On the contrary you aided him heavily in training and kept him motivated - although it often sounded more like insults.
“I know you’re upset but I promise I can explain everything later. But I really think you should join us in defeating the fire lord!” he reassured, his blue eyes seemingly sparkling in excitement. Shrugging out of his grasp and turning towards Piandao, you hoped that he would add in some useful input.
“But what use will I be if Master Piandao hasn’t even finished training me yet?” you asked, balling your fists in frustration. Your master simply shook his head and gave you a smile.
“{First-Name},” he spoke gently as to not further anger you, and leaned down to your height. “You are beyond my training at this point. Your destiny now lies in helping the avatar defeat the fire lord and besides - it’s what he would have wanted.” you couldn’t argue with that. Having trained you since around the age of twelve, he hadn’t heard you talk this much in all of the three years he had known you. Even after only knowing Sokka for about two days - he trusted you with him. He could see the positive effect you had on eacho other just from observing your interactions.
He’d be lying if he said that he hadn’t been worried about you ever since your father and his closest friends’ passing. You had went from a bubbly and joyous child to emotionally repressed and largely untalkative. Although he had still not seen you smile since before your fathers death - the outwardly expressed anger and frustration at Sokka’s idiocy was atleast something.
“I trust that you’ll be in good hands.” he said sternly, giving Sokka a pointed look.
“It’s settled then! You’re joining team avatar!”
While you weren’t quite sure why Sokka was so adamant on you joining him and his friends, you were somewhat happy to be leaving Shu Jing - which was new. Other than the weather being insufferably humid the majority of the year, your home in Piandao’s castle was bearable. In the past you hadn’t minded the repetitive nature of your days - but things were different now. You felt that you owed it to your father to join the fight against the country that took his life. And if this was the route you were forced to take, then so be it.
Surprisingly, as annoying as he was Sokka was the one you remained closest with in the group - but Toph was a close second. Though you didn’t talk with him that often, Aang was always kind and making sure that you felt included in the group - which wasn’t exactly necessary but appreciated none the less. Katara on the other hand was having some difficulty warming up to you - which you understood, so you didn’t speak to her unless necessary, which wasn’t often.
Although you had indeed become slightly more emotive and open, it was normally limited to sarcastic quips when Sokka said something stupid or asking Katara if she needed any help with groceries or cooking dinner - which she actually appreciated. Overall though, you still spent the majority of your time with Sokka. While he was still annoying and enjoyed teasing flirting with you every chance he could get, you’d be lying to yourself if you said you weren’t somewhat enjoying it - you’d never admit to that though.
One of the first times you got to be alone together was when you both were trying to escape Toph and Katara’s arguing.
“I’m going to head back out to the market,” he said, getting up off of the ground. “I’ll see you guys later.”
“Wait, can I go with you?” you questioned somewhat awkwardly, getting out of your seat and sprinting some to catch up with him.
“Of course!” he grinned in return, slowing down some so you could walk at the same pace. His smile made your chest feel warm, slightly catching you off guard.
“So, is Piandao your dad or something?” he asked gently, trying not to press too much. Though it was a sensitive topic, you felt oddly comfortable with Sokka - even though you had only known him for several weeks. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” he responded to your silence, ceasing walking and looking at you sincerely. You shook your head in return and kept walking.
“No, it’s fine.” he nodded and followed apprehensively. “Piandao is kind of like my uncle I guess? He and my Dad were friends when they were both in the fire nation army. And you know how Piandao eventually deserted the army?”
“Yeah, I recall him saying that.” he gave you a concerned glance, but you kept your gaze trained on the ground in front of you. While your expression was obviously pained, it still seemed restrained in a way as if you had practiced holding back your feelings for years. It was at this point he realized he’d never seen you smile, not even when when you were making fun of him.
“Well, my Dad also attempted to leave - but he wasn’t as skilled as Piandao was.” there was a beat of silence before you felt his hand envelope your own, rubbing the back of it with his thumb. Normally if someone did this you would’ve snatched your hand away - but you didn’t want to. His hand felt nice, warm and comforting.
“I’m really sorry about your Dad, and it was really brave of him to try and leave the army.” he gave you a look of concern and understanding, leading you to remember him mentioning
“Um, thanks.”
The rest of your afternoon at the market was spent making conversation about your childhoods and the messenger hawk he had just bought. The entire time he never let go of your hand. You assumed he was just doing it out of friendly comfort - but then again who platonically holds hands? You only stopped when you both returned to the small campsite and greeted the others.
You didn’t mean to snatch your hand away, but at the same time you thought your heart was going to jump out of your chest if you didn’t let go. But it didn’t seem to bother Sokka though, not at all. So maybe it was just platonic? But this wasn’t the only situation in where he left you utterly flustered and confused.
When the five of you were seated around the campfire listening to Katara’s story, you could see Sokka inching towards you out of the corner of your eye. Everyone else seemed rather uncomfortable, and while it was a quite unnerving story if you were scared you weren’t showing it. As the story went on, he would jump closer which each detail - until he was eventually leaning on your shoulder with his arms wrapped around your waist, shaking in fear like a small child.
When she finished her story, Katara and Aang just stared in awe as you didn’t shove him off. You just rolled your eyes and mumbled something about him being an idiot. They noticed a change between you both after that day. You almost seemed closer in a sort of way? You still scolded him for saying and doing stupid things - but you no longer pushed him away. He was quite touchy and handsy with you, never in a disrespectful way though. It’s just when he got excited he’d sometimes pick up you up for a few seconds before placing you back on the ground. Whilst you didn’t really return his affections, you weren’t rejecting him either. But the two of you were forced to confront this rising attraction all to soon, the day of the invasion.
You had a moment alone before you had to go your separate ways. After staring down at your feet for what seemed like a few minutes, you gained the courage to speak.
“Don’t, uh die.” you finally said aloud, meeting his gaze. Before you could say anything else he doubled over in laughter, clutching his stomach to get a hold of himself. “Sokka I’m being serious!” you said in frustration, seconds away from turning around and getting back into the submarine. Once he calmed down, he placed both of his hands on your shoulders and gained a serious expression.
“I’m sorry for laughing. But we’re gonna get out of this alive. Okay?” he finished his sentence with a smirk, tilting his head to the side. You nodded, feeling somewhat disappointed for some reason. But what were you expecting? You were just friends, and you didn’t like him like that anyway... right? Your thoughts cut off when you felt a pair of lips peck your cheek and his hands leave your shoulder to interlock with one of your own. “Come back to me okay?” he said sincerely, his eyes filled with worry.
“I promise.”
After the failure at the fire nation capitol, the few weeks before the arrival of Sozin’s comet blurred by far too quickly for your liking. The anxiety concerning Aang’s final battle with the fire lord was a top concern on everyone’s mind, including your own. Things were a bit stagnant between you and Sokka. You couldn’t ignore your feelings but at the same time you were fighting a war - there wasn’t any time to put energy into a relationship.
However after you, Toph and Sokka took down the airships, you were forced to confront these feelings yet again.
After riding with Appa over Ba Sing Se to look at the fireworks, you two were aimlessly roaming around the upper ring - watching the festivities of those celebrating the end of the hundred year war.
“So,” he asked suddenly, looking at you with a smile and nudging your arm jokingly. Normally you would have shoved him back, but all you could do was look down at your fidgeting hands and hope he couldn’t hear how fast your heart was beating. “What do you plan on doing now?”
“Um, I’m honestly not sure.” you responded, looking up at him. “I guess I’ll go back to the fire nation? I still want to help, I just don’t really know where I guess.”
“I get what you mean. I mean you could always stay with me...”
“With you?” Sokka began sputtering and waving his hands around after realizing what he just insinuated.
“I mean not with me per say.” he rephrased, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. You actually felt a tinge of disappointment at his words. “I mean with team avatar, we aren’t exactly finished saving the world - and you’re a vital member of our team.” Instead of calling him an idiot like you would have in the past, you gave him a small smile - catching him completely off guard and causing him to blush.
“I’d like that.” He intertwined you’re fingers and ran his thumb over the back of your hand. Before you could speak again you were interrupted by the rest of your friends running towards you.
“We were wondering where the two of you ran off to!” Katara said slightly out of breath, leaning over.
“We were having a moment and you ruined it!” Sokka shouted at his sister, causing her to start complaining about how he shouldn’t have broken off from the group without telling them if he didn’t want to be followed. As they continued to bicker, you felt Toph shove your shoulder.
“It’s about time you two got together.”
“Shut up Toph.”
Several years into the future, you continued to aid team avatar in helping the the different nations recover from the wars aftermath. Surprisingly, you and Sokka’s relationship still had no title and stayed undefined. To everyone else’s was clear you were together - but you still hadn’t kissed or showed in public displays of affection as of late. To on onlooker it just looked like you both could’ve been close friends. But that would finally change when you and Toph went to visit Katara and Sokka in the southern water tribe.
After greeting Katara, you were almost knocked off of your feet by the force of Sokka hugging you and eventually picking you up so you were about a foot off the ground.
“I missed you so much!” he borderline squealed, rocking you back and forth a bit.
“I missed you too, but can you set me down for a minute? I have something to give you.”
“You do?” he asked, his eyes sparkling in excitement. Reaching behind you, you handed him a sword with slightly shaky hands. “Is this, for me?”
“Yes.” you replied quietly, looking down at your fidgeting hands - still not rid of the habit even at 17. “I felt really bad after you lost your space sword and I couldn’t find another meteor but I wanted to make you a new one to replace it anyways...” you continued to ramble on before you heard the sword drop onto the snow covered ground with a quiet *crunch*. “Hey! I get that it’s not your old one but that doesn’t mean I didn’t spend a lot of timmmph!” you were cut off when you felt his lips cover your own, his arms wrapping around your waist.
You didn’t kiss back at first out of shock, but eventually did so and cupped his cheeks with your gloved hands. Once you broke apart, he leaned his forehead on yours. “I love it.”
Later on that evening when everyone had turned in for the night, you found yourself tucked into Sokka’s chest as he snored softly - his head resting on top of yours and his arms protectively encircled around your waist. Though the journey had been long and exhausting, you were greatful for it. Maybe joining team avatar hadn’t been such a bad idea after all?

how are you? :) hoping you’re taking a good rest and not getting too stressed because of school or anything. I just wanted to say it’s completely fine that the schedule isn’t up anymore and that we will wait for you here. so don’t put any pressure on yourself ❤️
hello! and if I’m being completely honest life is kicking my butt right now, but thank you so much for asking🥰🥺🥺. I hope you are doing well! at this point it’s not even just school, it’s family as well but other than that I am okay? I have learned that quality is better than quantity - meaning that even though it may take me longer to produce work, I’d rather have it be long and well thought out! also, like I said in another ask writing has been a bit of a safe space for me lately and I actually enjoy doing it - but I still promise to not put to much pressure on myself!!🤍 (I will have something out this week!) another reason some of these take so long is because I have to rewatch like 10 episodes (which I don’t mind doing at all tbh) so I can get information right😅.

honey just read one of your anon talks and just wanted to say that there is no pressure at all. just write and update at the pace you want to, there’s no reason to feel bad, especially not for changing the posting schedule! love you lots and looking forward to reading your work! <3 p.s. hahaha btw love reading "ridiculously long" imagines when it comes to daddy zuko lmao why did our generation make it so hard to say/write daddy without it sounding needy (sigmund freud would be proud lol not)
thanks fam, I really do appreciate that🤍. and honestly writing lately has been a bit of a stress reliever for me? I have a lot going on with school and relatives so it’s been a creative outlet of sorts. Once I get into the rhythm of the semster I’ll put the posting schedule back up, but I promise to not put too much pressure on myself. also I want to apologize for the links on the masterlist and navigation not working - tumblr mobile hates me. and about the daddy thing I agree😅.

★ 𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐮’𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 - being apart of the gaang headcanons
word count: 791
request: being a waterbender and pakkus’s granddaughter and being part of the gaang would include? thanks!
a/n: I’ve never really written anything like this before so I hope it turned out okay😖.
Tumblr media
★ - 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝
Once the siege of the North had ended, you learned your grandfather was going to the South to help build up the sister tribe. In the past couple of days, you had learned more about water bending from Katara and Aang than you ever could’ve imagined in your fourteen years of living. Additionally, while the battle was surely terrifying - it was also quite exhilarating. It ignited your thirst for adventure and justice for the Fire Nations actions. So when Katara invited you to join them on their journey to end the 100 year war, you had never agreed to something faster in your life. Even though your grandfather was concerned for your well being, he knew that it was your destiny to do something great. And if that was assisting the avatar - then so be it.
★ - 𝐬𝐨𝐤𝐤𝐚
Your first meeting with Sokka consisted of him stealing Yue away from you while you both were hanging out. While you may have at first resented him for stealing your best friend away from you - all of that dissolved after her transformation into the moon spirit. Both being very close to the former princess, you sort of ‘bonded?’ or over her death and eventually became close friends. He could be annoying and over protective at times, but overall he was like the older brother you always wanted. brotp goals
★ - 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚
After you watched her do something that you’ve been afraid to do for years - which was standing up to your sexist grandfather - you immediately had a connection with her. Other than sharing an interest in water bending, you bond over other things as well. While you might see Sokka as an older brother, Katara is your closest or best friend. Sometimes you might butt heads and get into disagreements, but they never last for very long. Y’all both end up being lifelong friends, well into adulthood and your older years.
★ - 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡
I’m not gonna lie, whil Katara knew she was still your closest friend - she’s going to be a bit jealous of you and Toph’s friendship at first, especially since they didn’t get along when they first met. Even though you shared more similar interests with Katara, you still liked goofing around with Toph. When she gets into disagreements with the rest of the Gaang you’re usually there to back her up, which she really appreciates. *small comic spoiler* Once the war had ended, you spent a lot of your time helping her with her metal bending school and students.
★ - 𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐠
Wisest lil dude you have ever met in your life. When you first joined the gaang, he always made sure that you were included in everything especially if you felt kinda left out at times. If Sokka is your older brother, then Aang would be your younger one. He’s a very perceptive friend, and will always be there to ask if you’re doing alright and there to lend an ear if you need to vent - and vice versa. Also, he goes to you for advice about his crush on Katara, which you do your very best to help him with. 10/10 friend tbh.
★ - 𝐳𝐮𝐤𝐨
Okay, so now for prince pouty. Of course, the majority of your first interactions weren’t pleasant by any means - with him coonstantly trying to capture Aang. Fast forwarding to when he attempts to join the Gaang, other than toph you were one of the only people who atleast tried to hear him out. Don’t get me wrong, you still deemed him as untrustworthy and were wary around him - but you technically became his first friend. When he would go off by himself and sulk or be grumpy, you’d eventually join him and he honestly didn’t mind your company. Sokka would tease y’all about being a couple which you would both constantly deny. I still ship y’all tho
𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝒂𝒈
Like I said earlier, one of the first major things you did once the war had finally ended was to help Toph with her metal bending school. You journey around the world with the rest of the gaang for a couple of more years until everyone eventually settles down and starts their own families - or is just off doing their own thing. Still wanting to continue making a change in the world for the better, you return to the Northern Water Tribe and get involved as much as you can. Your main goal ends up being to ensure that the North does what it can to help the South but doesn’t get too involved in their matters. By the time Korra is avatar, I’m sad to say you’ve probably passed on - but hey atleast you have a statue honoring all of the hard work you’ve done!

(lol I mean of course you KNOW haha but are you willing to tell us or would you like to keep it as a surprise?) have an amazing day/night ✌🏼😊 and wish you lots of fun while writing!
omg thanks so much for asking🥺🥺!! honestly I’ve been better. I’m a bit behind on school work and I’ve got some family problems going on but other than that I’m generally okay. I also want to apologize for changing around my posting schedule so much - I changed it to works in progress because I had to keep pushing things off😅. soo for the next post I was probably thinking the general iroh one since I have it planned out in my head? I also planned out the zuko one about how he told izumi how y’all fell in love - but it’s getting ridiculously long. either way, I will have something out tomorrow, and I plan on reopening requests after I get the majority of the ones in my inbox done. anyways thanks so much for checking up on me! you are truly too sweet anon🥰. I hope you have a blessed day as well!!

★ 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐨 - every kind of way
song: h.e.r.: every kind of way - slowed
word count: 1283
request: Hey! Can I request something for Mako xwaterbender!reader? Maybe a proposal where he wants to respect her culture so he makes a betrothal necklace. Maybe during Book 4 before Kuvira attacks and he wanted the proposal to be perfect, but then he just kind of does it because the city is about to be attacked? I’m kind of new on tumblr, so I hope I did this right 😊
Tumblr media
“hey [first-name].”
“yes Mako?” you answered, turning away from chief Beifong and Wu after he delivered his speech over the intercom.
“can I talk to you for a minute.” he asked, eyes downcast and looking uncharacteristically uneasy.
“sure.” you responded curtly, following him out of the room and into the hallway. “where are those two off to?” Beifong asked wu, raising an eyebrow to which he only shrugged in return.
“dunno - probably to make out or something.”
“they’re dating?” she questioned again, her eyes widening slightly as she awaited his response concerning two of her emotionally constipated best officers. she knew the two of you had grown closer during the past 3 years but she never would have guessed that you were actually dating.
Wu simply chuckled in return. “see, that's what they want you to think.” waving his arms around as if he were setting the scene for the chief of police to visualize (to which she rolled her eyes). “Mako might be all angsty and hot-headed and [first-name] might be all cold and quiet but I bet (he lowered his voice to be just above a whisper as if your co-workers cared about the status of your relationship) they’ve got the hots for each other!”
once you both had reached a portion of the hall that was out of hearing range from everyone else, he spoke. “you’re going with Pema and Wu to evacuate the remaining citizens.”
“excuse me?” you queried in confusion, a mixture of animosity and disbelief bubbling up in the pit of your stomach. “you think I can’t take care of myself or something?” he knew that you were beyond capable of taking care of yourself and more than a decent fighter with your bending - he just didn’t want to see you getting hurt.
“I understand that, I- I just want you to be safe.” he countered dejectedly, shoving his hands in his pockets and refusing to look you in the eye.
“I understand, but I’m going whether you like it or not.” you stated in an icy tone, still slightly miffed at what he said earlier.
“I never said that you couldn’t handle yourself. believe me, I know that better than anyone.” he said sincerely, taking your hand and interlacing your fingers with his own. “you’re just really important to me, and I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“I care about you too, I’m going with you so I can make sure you won’t do anything stupid.” you said in an attempt to lighten the mood - but his expression remained unreadable. ever since you met him you had never known him to be someone to be good with expressing his feelings - something you both had in common.
even though your relationship had been slightly rocky in the beginning when you had initially joined the police force, it eventually bloomed into a beautiful - albeit slightly awkward relationship. it wasn’t as if you were hiding from anyone else either, mako just decided to approach this in a different way than he had in the past. he wasn’t going to rush headfirst into love as he did with Korra and Asami - he knew better now.
you weren’t necessarily enemies at first, it’s just your differing opinions caused you to but heads at times. eventually, after working together on several assignments and stakeouts - you became friends. he tried to ignore his feelings for as long as possible, not wanting it to interfere with your work. but once he found out that he’d be leaving for the earth kingdom to bodyguard for the prince for an indefinite amount of time - he owed it to himself to at least mention it to you.
“hey”
“hi.” you responded almost a bit shakily, a small bittersweet smile playing on your lips. “heard you're going to the earth kingdom soon.”
“yea.” he laughed lightly, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly before deciding that he should just get it over with.
“mako-”
“[first-name]-”
“you first.” he stated, allowing you to go ahead and speak.
“um-” you struggled to keep your normal deadpan composure as it dawned on you the man you’d had a crush on for the past two years was leaving, it wasn’t an easy concept to grasp. blinking back a few tears threatening to fall, you continued. “you know, I’m not the best with expressing my feelings - so I’m sorry if this sounds weird, but I’m going to miss you.”
he seemed disappointed at your response, shuffling a bit and looking off to the side. “oh, I’m gonna miss you too.” ‘why was this so hard’
you thought rolling your eyes.“you know that's not what I mea-” before you could finish your sentence, his hands grabbed your waist and pulled you flush towards him. examining his slightly reddened features, you felt like your heart was going to leap out of your chest. ‘what is he doing?’
“yea, I’m gonna miss you too.” he asserted, tilting his head and letting his eyes close - placing his lips on your own.
since then you two were dating somewhat privately, although it wasn’t intentional. chief Beifong wouldn’t care as long as it wasn’t messing with work, and though he mentioned you in his letters to his brother and Korra - it never came to him to mention how far your relationship had gotten. which leads us to your current situation.
“we’re going to be fine Mako, now let's get going before the others start wondering where we are.”
“wait.” turning back on your heal to face your suspiciously acting boyfriend - you were met with a navy ribbon with an engraved cerulean charm hanging off of it.
“Spirits.” you whispered walking towards him and gently taking the necklace from his hands. “it’s so pretty, thank you.”
“you do know what that is right?” he asked, worry lacing his voice.
“of course,” you responded sweetly. “you bought me a necklace and it’s beautiful.” there was no way he knew what this necklace meant. they hadn’t even been in wide use since the war. he’d just found a nice necklace from your home and bought it for you - right?
“no.” he stepped even closer and placed his hands around your own. “I’m asking you to marry me.”
you couldn’t do anything but stare into his tangerine eyes (that’s the color they had on wikia I know it sounds cheesy), not knowing exactly what to say.
“I know we haven’t been dating for all that long but I’m in love with you, and I can’t imagine my life without you. would you do me the honor of marrying me?”
“yes.” after a beat of awkward silence, you broke it by asking “mind helping me put it on?” while turning around and moving your hair to the side, unable to keep the smile off your face as he tied the choker around your neck.
“I love you.” he whispered as you turned to face him again, reaching out and grabbing your hand.
“I love you too Mako.” you answered as he leaned down and pressed his forehead on your own - before your moment was rudely interrupted.
“see Beifong!” Wu shouted, sprinting down the hallway towards you two. “I told you they were together!”
“go away Wu!”
chuckling quietly at their antics, you felt a wave of slight uneasiness in the pit of your stomach for the events to come. that went away almost entirely when he ran his thumb over the back of your hand, reassuring you that he was there. the battle ahead wasn’t easy - at least you would be together.
Tumblr media
𝐚/𝐧: well anon, I hope I did you request justice! I spent all morning researching about betrothal necklaces on the wiki but unfortunately there wasn’t much information so I did my best! also, I’m sorry if you wanted the reader to be more extroverted - I’m a bit quiet myself so I tend to write like that too. anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Oh I just googled and you could be right... apparently it makes a big difference whether the blog is new or not... also according to tumblr staff only the first five tags will be indexed in public Tumblr searches, and the first 20 tags on your post will be indexed on your own blog’s tag pages. Oof I hope this gets fixed soon because I don’t want anyone to miss out on your amazing blog
thank you for letting me know! I’ve had to deal with that issue in the past with my other blogs and unfortunately I don’t think there’s really anyway around it😖 but thanks anyway!♥️ I really appreciate you going out of your way to look that up!

tumblr really acts weird today... when I search “desna imagine” which is clearly one of your hashtags from your post before, I can’t find anything at all... like I can’t see ANY posts (maybe because desna imagines aren’t as popular as mako ones for example)... nevertheless, even if there’s only one desna post in whole tumblr, I should’ve seen at least your post right?? It’s so weird...
I see, I’m having the same issue lol. this blog is new though so maybe that’s why? tumblr is indeed very weird.
