More Tailwind characters and details
@yugonora-comic @cruisingheightswithdragons Wanted to give some of the other/minor characters a few details that add to the Tailwind community. I'd also like to add that when I visualize Tailwind, and Lough together, I'm picturing a version of Napa Valley. Beautiful sprawling vineyards with a whole community built around it. Yellow City being a little more developed like the neighboring San Francisco.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lord Noah Blodogtårer: Tailwind's leader. Inspired alot by General Ironwood fro. RWBY. Third generation leader of Tailwind, he has seen the village become stagnant. After his father passed and he ascended, Lord Blodogtårer made it his mission to make Tailwind a formidable economic source. Has been in communication with the leaders from Lough and Yellow City and is a great negotiator. So motivated to improve his village that he looses sight of the world around him. Can lead to more environmental and socio-politcal issues. But at his core, he cares so deeply for people. Has a wife and two children, a boy and a girl. It is not known his stance on monsters.
Alice Ahlman: Export coordinator and representative. Close in age to Vivi, early to mid 30s. Well traveled and brings back souvenirs for the Skarsgårds. Carries a knife on her at all times, a habit she picked up in her travels. Friendly but will be cautious with new people. Great saleswoman when it comes to selling Tailwind's wares. Knows how to read people and choose words wisely. Great storyteller to locals and will visit the healer's hut to tell stories to those too sick or injured to travel. Does not hate monsters but will sometimes stare.
Stefan Sjögren: Internal economy coordinator and representative. A young man, more than ten years younger than Vivi and Alice. Born and raised in Tailwind and is beloved by the locals. Knows everyone, makes it a point. Wants everyone to love him so he will do whatever the community asks. Which means fortifying their desires to not modernize. Feels bad for halting the process and making things difficult but hates the thought of Tailwind despising him. Tailwind is his world so he doesnt quite understand current affairs. Absolutely hates monsters and has rumored to have killed one or two.

Vivi Skarsgård in the Yugo Nora universe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I saw the call by @cruisingheightswithdragons and @yugonora-comic and decided to recycle my baby girl, Vivi, for this world. She is repurposed from the Metalocalypse Siren!AU in which she was a siren hiding among humans as a land barmaid. I'll be taking some parts of her lore in that AU and bring it over to the world of Milo. The above pictures are some references for Vivi's human form because I got zero art skills. Anyways, let's go!
Vivi is a human who runs a tavern on the coast of Tailwind and also makes their own wine. Specializing in dry wines, both red and white, she is a motivated business woman determined to celebrate the fruits of her hometown's labor. Her tavern, Mardör, is an odd establishment being that most of the grapes that come in from Lough are meant to be processed and exported to Yellow City. Thanks to some personal investments and proper saving, Vivi was able to secure a supply line from an independent vineyard. The citizens of Tailwind enjoy her products, but they still treat her as a bit of an outlaw.
Along with a lorekeeper, Tailwind has other forms of bookkeeping. This is to keep record of imports, exports, wine manufacturing and overall inventory. Not only does Vivi maintain her own records, she has also been appointed to monitor and document the incoming grapes. Making sure they get to their right locations, the correct amount has been shipped and quality control before manufacturing begins. Her attention to detail has kept that part of Tailwind's business fluid and functional.
In the past, Vivi would be more hands on with the process. There was an incident on the beach where a sea monster breached the surface and attacked her. She survived, but injured her leg badly. Because of the nerve damage and muscle atrophy, Vivi requires the use of a cane to keep stable. She will have days where her leg causes too much pain and she wouldn't be able to get much done. Although her life has been altered, she does not have any hate toward monsters. Instead choosing to focus on her work and her community.
That's what I got so far. More might come later on, but this seems like a good base.

A study of Elves on Milo by Mani and The Nightewe
While humans and dwarves have habited Milo since the dawn of their respective races, elves have only relatively recently begun to make their homes on the continent, having originated from the island civilization of Merith. Originally a kingdom, having since moved to mainland Milo has granted them the title of Empire.
Given their history as a forest nation, elves do not commit to large scale farms, instead opting for gardens scattered throughout their lands intertwined with the trees. They believe that it is important to preserve as much nature as possible, and that trips to their yields give them a chance to express gratitude for what the gods have given them. They are also not shy to sharing these yields with the creatures that pass by, which is another reason their farming methods are more closely related to foraging.
According to human traders, when horses when extinct, it was the elves that started the practice of using moas as transport, although given how recent this had first appeared, it has yet to wield results worth celebrating.
Magic is scarcely understood, and use of it is limited with what knowledge the denizens of Milo have obtained, however it appears that elves are much more attuned with this aspect of the world. When a potion needs to be made, or an item needs a charm, it is usually done so by an elf.

What is a monster? An essay written by Mani and The Nightewe
Distinguishing a monster from an animal or person is quite simple. While people and animals are made of blood, bones, and other physical properties, monsters are made primarily of magic and light. Monsters still have physical weight and form, but when they die they decompose much quicker and leave absolutely nothing behind, so studying their evolutionary history and taxonomy is all but impossible at this point, relying mostly on theory.
One thing that is certain in the classification of monsters is what type of light they are made of. Thus far, only three types have been confirmed: sunlight, moonlight, and starlight. Whether this influences their magical properties is still unknown, but whatever magical anomaly is corrupting them seems to affect them regardless of their class.
They don’t have reproductive systems, and instead reproduce by combining manifestations of their souls into a new being. The light they share forms a smaller version of typically the monster that initiates the creation, however there are times when that light shifts, mutating the created monster into something completely new. One thing that is certain, is that if two monsters have different lights, they are unable to produce offspring. For example, a starlight monster cannot create offspring with a moonlight monster, and so on.
A question that arises however. Could a monster and a physical being create offspring together? How would that work? Alas, there have been no documented cases, however the land of Milo is vast, and perhaps a discovery such as that is just waiting to be seen.

Meet Mani and The Nightewe! They’re scholars from the distant land of Atsea, a continent far to the east of Milo. So far, they’ve eluded discussion of their homeland, instead opting to study the varieties of creatures and cultures that Milo supplies.
Living in the city of Astral, these two tend to stick to themselves as they study, writing essays as memoirs to fill their ever expanding library.
Allow them to pop in every now and then to discuss their findings, won’t you? They love to share what they’ve learned!

Little worldbuilding notes
• Currency is the Shell, though real shells fell out of fashion centuries ago. Now they’re made of bronze and silver in the shape of a shell. One silver is worth 10 bronze shells.
• Horses have gone extinct only fifty years ago. Now, transportation is done by giant moa, though domestication is a long process that has yet to wield fruitful results.
• Dragons have been extinct for over a century, as have the people that worshipped them. The evolutionary cousins of dragons, Pterodraconids, are still around.
• Milk is harvested mainly from goats, as aurochs have not been domesticated. Instead, wild cows are seen as spiritual wanderers, and are revered.
• Getting a cat to follow you is a sign of good luck. They are fairly tame, but still wild animals. Having one choose to stay in your home is seen as a blessing.
• Clovers are associated with birth, and weaving them into the hair of those that have just given birth is traditional in elven culture.
• Magic exists, though it is not entirely understood. Practice of it is very limited.
• There are many villages and hamlets that dot the land, though the continental map does not usually mark them. It is customary for each city-state to have local maps that supply their locations. Each town has at least one Lorekeeper.

The four humanoid races that populate the land of Milo!
Humans
They need no explanation, they’re human, you’re human, you know what they’re like. Regardless, they’re an old species that originated in the plains of Milo, having had a long history of separate kingdoms that have since unified into city-states that now work in tandem. Humans are of medium stature, with various builds in body. They have small ears, and thick skin. Humans have virtually no connection to magic, often relying on elves to charm their items.
Elves
Originating from the island empire of Merith, elves have recently taken to mainland Milo. Elves generally keep to themselves, often staying within their forest borders. These people are more attuned to the magic of the world, and as such have a more understanding relationship with monsters. Elves tend to be tall and lanky, with long pointed ears and long fingered hands. Their limited use of magic gives them a very high metabolism.
Dunesettlers
An offshoot of mainland elves, Dunesettlers have adapted to a desert environment. They’ve adopted sand colored skin and hair, with their ears fanning out to regulate heat. Their hands are smaller, but their feet have grown and splayed out to better walk on sand, and have a covering of hair to protect the skin. Little is known of this race, as they stick to the desert region that no man dares to tread.
Dwarves
Dwarves are ancient, known to be the oldest sentient race on Milo. Their very thick skin allows them to adapt to the heat of the volcanic mountains they call home, typically living in underground dwellings by sources of magma. They are short and stout, with hair covering their entire body, though it’s thickest on the face. Odd for humanoids, they have rabbit-like ears and a long, tufted tail. They also have cloven hooves for feet. They’re unrelated to humans and elves. Dwarves also serve a single king.
