No, we are not a perfect family

Shocker.

I’ve always been proud of my family for being like the most chill and *almost* ideal type of family compared to some of the other families my friends have to go home to.

It’s always a cause of sadness for me when I have friends and co-workers who would purposely stay late at work because their home is a toxic space for them and they’d rather go home when everybody else is already asleep.

So, today, on the 21st day of June, in the year of our Lord 2016, that feeling of not wanting to go home because home doesn’t really evoke it’s usual safe and warm space for me has finally happened.

I’M VERY SURE that when I look back to maybe a few months from now, the reason for this will seem petty but right now, my dad has done fucked up. haha. No, he didn’t cheat. No, it’s not his fault entirely. Yes, OTHER PEOPLE ARE THE REASON why the shit he has done fucked up on has blown out of proportion. But, the feeling of betrayal still lingers. My mother is hurt and my mother can damn well affect the entire emotional atmosphere of the house. Like, HOLY SHIT, if she’s not happy, YOU’LL KNOW she’s not happy. And right now, my 24 year old self is too chicken shit to handle that tension inside the house so I’m doing what I’m good at in the face of trouble: I run away. 

I tell my mother I have a work emergency, and then spend about an hour just walking around the city, taking random public transport vehicles without a particular destination, and then camping in a coffee shop; all in an attempt to go home to an already sleeping household because I CAN’T HANDLE SHIT. I’m not really good at this adulting thing, if you haven’t noticed.

Also, I just realized that I have effectively left my sister alone to deal with the really thick tension inside the house. I’M SO SORRY BABY SIS.

My depressive mood is back again in full force. FML

In aid of Asexual Awareness Week, I’ve decided to make a post about autochorissexuality and just what it is.

The term ‘autochoris’ was coined by Anthony Bogaert, and essentially translates to ‘identity-less sexuality’. It is a sub-section of asexuality, which he describes as:

A disconnection between oneself and the object of arousal; may involve sexual fantasies or arousal in response to erotica or pornography, but lacking any desire to be a participant in the activities therein.

Essentially, we like the idea of sex, and/or enjoy reading/writing/watching sexual content, but don’t actually experience attraction or want to have sex with anybody.

You might be autochorissexual if:

You get aroused by sexual content but don’t actually want to engage in any sexual activities yourself.

You masturbate, but are neutral or repulsed by the idea of having sex with another person.

When you fantasize about sex, you envision people other than yourself, and/or you view it in third person, as though you’re watching it on TV, rather than imagining it in first person, through your own eyes.

You predominantly or entirely fantasize about fictional characters or celebrities, rather than people you actually know.

You identify as asexual and feel no sexual attraction to people, but enjoy masturbating, are aroused by sexually explicit content, and/or have sexual fantasies.

This isn’t an exhaustive checklist, and ultimately nobody can give you a label but yourself. But hopefully this post has brought you a little closer to understanding autochorissexuality, whether you are asexual, grey/demi, questioning, confused, or just wanting to raise awareness.
