BBC Ghosts theory:

Has anyone talked about the fact that (as sad as it is) the Captain may have offed himself. Like he took some sort of pill or something and that’s how he died. Because like as far as we can tell he has no external injuries and none of the other ghosts have offed themselves so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the captain to have die in that way. It would work really well with his character I think like he’s this brave WWII captain the best of the best and in the end he did something as cowardly (not my opinion but would have been the opinion of the time) as killing himself and that’s something he has to work through in order to move on.

I’ve seen someone mention about the mirror having something to do with his death as well because of the credits, maybe he stood in front of that mirror in his final moments in reflection of his life. Another little side note to this I saw someone say his badges are on backwards don’t know how true that is but if it is maybe it’s because he put them on in the mirror or summit like that. Even sadder if he never actually earned them but really wished he had so stole some from somewhere (idk) and was trying them on in the mirror.

But could you just imagine all the ghosts stood around him in silence as they realise what he just did. I’m tearing up man I swear. Like he got all dressed up made sure his uniform was perfect and he had his baton stick thing in hand to at least have some dignity in his mind.
