January 4th, 2023 'The Peach Episode'

Another day, another diary.

Can you believe it's been 4 days since 2023? I sure can't.

School started for me today, so posts may become rather rough on schedule. I'll still try and keep my daily streak, but who knows when it'll break?

Let's get started!

My character awoke today rather late, but with a surprise!

We got our first letters today, one from Mom, and one from the Happy Room Academy (otherwise known as HRA).

Let's see what our Mom had to say:

Attached was 1,000 bells! My first instinct was to use all of this towards our debt...but I literally have no money...meaning no tools. If I really want to start raking in the money to pay off our debt, I'm going to need to spend some of this towards tools. If I remember correctly, the average price of tools in this game is 200 bells? I'm not sure if I'm right, but if I am, this could help immensely!

Now, let's open the letter from the HRA:

Woah. This letter. Totally awesome. Me? Impressed. Lyle? Totally will visit soon.

In all seriousness...I'm not sure when is the right time to visit the city? That's something I should probably think about later. If I remember correctly, the city plaza is FILLED with shops, and I'm a little strapped for cash right now. I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to put me (someone with little impulse control) in a shopping center (a place literally meant for shopping).

Maybe we should visit the plaza when we start making a steady inflow of income? Agree? Agree.

Okay, so now that we have 1,000 bells, it's probably time to pocket it and see what tools Nook has to offer. Walker informed me that the items in Nook's Cranny changes everyday meaning that all of our tools we need probably won't be there right now. This sadly isn't like New Horizons where I can craft what I need to. No, if the only tool in there is a shovel, I'll only have a shovel until Nook's Cranny stocks something else.

Let's hope it isn't a shovel.

This also reminded me that I never placed in Walker's fancy carpet or Mitzi's shower.

Look at my new room! The shower is a bit concerned being placed on carpet but hey uh...nothing I can really do about that right now.

Walking to Nook's Cranny, look at all these tools! This is PERFECT to help us start making bells! Oh, please be cheap, please be-

...Well, I may have been a bit off...but that's okay! We can still afford it. Just, can't get as many tools as I thought.

Upon making my first purchase, Tom informs me of his shopping program. Whenever I buy something, I collect points. Collect enough points, I can redeem them for things. Sounds cool.

Spending all of the bells my mom sent me, I now have a net, and a fishing rod. The two basic tools of Animal Crossing.

My first plan of attack: Collect as much fruit as I can (before my neighbors do, per Rolf's advice) and sell it. I also know I can collect shells off the beach and sell them as well. We should be raking in the bells that way. We need to make enough money to pay off an 18,400 bell loan. I don't know if we can achieve it today, but we can certainly try.

Clearing out my inventory, I can collect a full inventory of peaches from 5 trees.

While clearing out trees of peaches, Walker reminds me the urgency of checking my mail.

Once I filled up my inventory with peaches, I walked to Nook's Cranny to see how much an entire inventory of them would sell for.

1,500 bells? That's quite a lot. Maybe reaching our goal would be easier today then I thought. To achieve my goals, I'd really only need to do this 13 times, and I'd have more then enough money. Of course, I don't think I have enough fruit bearing trees to do that, but, this number isn't as daunting as it feels.

I watched my first balloon fly away. I have no slingshot.

We have a new villager!

Hi Tutu! Welcome to Wormvill! I forgot to check if anyone moved in today. Looking at my map, we also have another newbie. Mathilda. Let's go take a break from selling fruits and say hi!

Oh my goodness! Mathilda has a little baby! Or, I guess, a wee baby! How cute!

Walker gives me steel flooring for no other reason then it 'came to him in a dream.' I hope he isn't offended that I'm going to sell it.

Pippy talks to me about how Wormvill has many different festivals, then talks about how her family back home celebrated.

I'll be honest, as I do this, I wonder where Nook has all this room for these peaches? These are...a lot of peaches, so many peaches. I am flooding Nook's Cranny with peaches.

While on my walk back and forth, selling all of the peaches I can, Pippy approaches me.

Pippy says she wants a more lady-like greeting, and wants people to see a little more 'her.' Hmm, what 'feminine' sounding greeting can I make a bunny pun with?

Upon taking the Google for 'lady-like' greetings (and getting nothing but birthday cards), I decided on 'hi, honny bunny.' Hopefully it's 'lady-like' enough to her (though I don't know what that really means?)

I also went down to the beach to collect shells, and got 2,240 bells! This definitly sets us forward a bunch. It set us forward to 12,210, meaning we have only 6,190 left!

I fell in my first hole! :(

Walker comes up to me, and confides in me that Pippy has been bullying him about how he always says wuh! How rude!

Of course not Walker! I love how you say wuh!

Well, I am pretty sure I have gotten every tree with peaches...now it is on to phase 2.

Fishing!

There isn't a lot of bugs right now, seeming as it is January, and winter, but it is time to fish!

This also means we'll be making some of our first donations to Blathers, who we must speak to.

Woah! Our very first catch and look at this cool looking fish...

We also caught a dab, and we are feeling fab!

And a crucian carp!

Tutu sees the bitterling we caught and asks for it...oopsies. I'm gonna have to let her down! :(

I was starting to get tired...time to donate our fish and head to bed!

Nothing to sell sadly, but that's okay! We are quite close to our goal!

We went to bed with 15,810 bells! Meaning we only need 2,590 bells. That's super close! We can definitly get those bells tomorrow. For now, I'm tired, and it's time to close the game.

Sorry guys, I am away from the computer hosting the rom for my town :(

...I know, I know, I'm sorry Eunice. I still wanted to write a blog post, even if it isn't about my village. Keep reading for some Animal Crossing nerd rambles.

Today, I thought I'd post some facts about the starter villagers currently residing in my town. I don't know everything about them yet, and I'd like to study them and share the information with you. That way, we all can leave with a better understanding of who they are. Also, it'd be fun and give me an excuse to write a blog post.

All of the information is probably from the Animal Crossing Wiki, so thanks to the people over there. Also, most of the info is in relation to their versions from City Folk, as this blog is centered around my City Folk town.

We are going to start with...

1. Pippy

Pippy in English, or ロッタ in Japanese (meaning Lotta), is a peppy rabbit. Pippy, who is peppy!

She's been in the series since どうぶつの森 (Dōbutsu no Mori, or Animal Forest) so she's an OG! She was born June 14th, and her phrase is 'li'l hare.'

Some trivia from the wiki states that her birthday coincided with the European release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which I think is pretty cool.

Also, she wants to be a superhero! How cute :)

2. Bud

Bud in English or グラさん in Japanese (meaning Gura-san, or Gra) has been around since どうぶつの森＋(Dōbutsu no Mori+, or Animal Forest+). He was born August 8th, and his phrase (in City Folk) is "maaan."

He's a little lion guy, with the personality trait of a jock, whose appearance and catchphrase give that of a surfer dude. The interior of his house in City Folk (and several games) is even a beach.

I'm not personally that much of a surfer guy vibe, but he's been pretty nice to me so far, so I do not dislike him. Though, he does need to get rid of the goatee.

3. Rolf

"I could eat you for lunch, you know" - Rolf

Oh Rolf, what is there to say about Rolf? I think that quote says everything there is to say about him. Suffice to say, we have not gotten along very well (even for the two days I've known him.)

Rolf in English or チョモラン in Japanese (Chomoran), is a cranky tiger evil man who was born August 22nd, and has the very fitting catchphrase of "grrrolf." He's been haunting our worlds since どうぶつの森 (Dōbutsu no Mori, or Animal Forest).

This tiger man threatened to beat me up the first time I met him, so I very much do not like him. But hey, maybe (if he's nicer) I'll come around.

4. Tipper

Tipper in English or まきば in Japanese (Makiba) is a snooty cow. She was born on August 25th, and came around in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Her phrase is 'pushy.'

I shockingly do not know a lot about her. I'm not always a fan of snooty villagers, though so far she's been super nice and adorable to me in my town, I hope we get to know each other more. :)

5. Mitzi

Mitzi in English, or マール in Japanese (Māru) is a normal cat who's been around since どうぶつの森 (Dōbutsu no Mori, or Animal Forest).

When I say Mitzi is an OG, I mean she's an OG. She has been on the cover of Animal Crossing...

...she was in an icon for Pocket Camp...

...and was on a screenshot on the back of the City Folk case (which is in relation to the game we are playing!)

Mitzi is so much of an og, she even appears on the cover of K.K Parade, and is in the Animal Crossing themed track for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Suffice it to say, Mitzi has been around the block, and I don't blame Nintendo! She seems to be a bit of a fan favorite. She's been really friendly to me, so I'm a bit of a fan too. :)

Some cool trivia, is that she was also the first girl villager. Amazing!

6. Walker

Walker in English or ベン in Japanese (Ben) is a lazy dog. He first appeared in どうぶつの森ｅ＋(Dōbutsu no Mori e+ or Animal Forest e+). His catchphrase is wuh.

Walker first appeared upon the release of どうぶつの森ｅ＋as an e-Card, which came with the game. Which is pretty cool.

His birthday is June 10th, and he has this really funny quote on his wiki page.

“The dog wags his tail, not for you, but for your bread.” - Walker

Those are all of my starter villagers. Hopefully, this infodump can replace the lack of update today. And, hopefully getting to know my starters can help me get to know them better (and maybe like them more...maybe not with Rolf.)

New day! ... Well, technically afternoon. It's 12pm as I begin writing this (haven't even bothered to open the game)... Tom Nook is probably going to be very angry.

Let's get started with our second day on Wormvill!

Also, thanks to my wonderful girlfriend, who happened to be my first follower, let's go!

Opening up the game (2 hours after writing this because I happened to get a little busy) we see our friendly neighbor Tipper walking around with a net, hoping to catch some bugs this snowy afternoon.

Adjusting the clock (it was 2 hours ahead), and saying hello to Rover (who joked about forgetting me after one day) we exit our house.

Rolf was walking around and despite our cranky attitudes toward each other so far, I'm still willing to say hello. We ARE neighbors after all!

...Well, what a good start. What advice does Rolf have for us today?

"As short as you are, you must have some trouble picking fruit off trees, right grrrolf?"

Uhm... I assume he's talking about my in-game character, but Woah. Didn't expect to have my height attacked, which it always is in real life. I wouldn't say I hate Rolf, but man is he not making me like him any more than I do when we first met.

Rolf gives me advice on getting fruit (walking up to a tree and pressing A, or X on my keyboard), and tells me about how to make bells with them.

"Just remember, the fruits are your neighbors too, so make sure to get to them before we do, grrrolf!"

What a friendly guy.

We make our way back to Nook's Cranny, just for Tom Nook to give us another job.

Oh, so he wants us to make a post about his shop? Well, I don't know if he needs to do that...seeming as if he is the only convenience store in town, but I guess why not.

Darn, can't write any bad words on the board. :(

Simple but sweet!

Walking back to Nook's Cranny with my new board message to advertise his shop, I walk inside tired...expecting a new job...

But then...

(animal crossing bumpbumpbumpbump! noise)

I'm free! Let's goooo!!!

Deducting what I worked for, as I'm being unemployed again, I now have a loan of 18,400 bells.

Still a lot of money, but nonetheless, I at least worked some of it off!

And now that that's over with, we can start working off my loan tomorrow. As for now, I'm tired.

Sorry for the short blog post today. I know it isn't as big as yesterday's, but I've been incredibly busy today! Hopefully, we can at least get some of our loans down tomorrow. As for now, it's time to eep!

Animal Crossing Nintendo Player’s Guide 2002

A new year, and a new animal crossing (semi)daily diary blog!

Welcome to Wormvill! (Supposed to be Wormville, however, it had character limits!)

Woah! Look at the crunch. I guess it wasn't THAT crunchy on TVs that used to run Animal Crossing: City Folk (It DOES output at 720p) but on my 1080p monitor, it looks a little polygonal-like. Oh well.

Wormvill lives on my computer's hard drive, running off of Dolphin Emulator. As much as I would love to play on my Wii, there would simply be no way to get any images for me. And it would be a little anti-climatic to have a faraway shot of a tv, wouldn't it? (Though some of the images you see today will be pictures of my monitor, how hypocritical of me).

I guess we should get into the rundown of how today went, shouldn't we? Let's begin!

We start our game by talking to Rover. Rover is a face you'll probably recognize if you have played any Animal Crossing game (before New Horizons). His primary role is to set us up, and make fun of us for our poor planning skills.

Did I mention poor planning? Yes, we are moving to Wormvill with 0 money, 0 housing, and 0 friends!

Dreamer? Why yes they do Rover, and what would a dream be if it did not include poor life decisions?

We answer Rover's questions and get an avatar featured above. Though with a yellow pawprint t-shirt. Leo is all ready to move to Wormvill!

Walking to town hall, we meet Pelly!

She welcomes us, and directs us to choose one of four houses scattered across town,

and as seen by the orange one, we picked that one! It has a green roof and beautiful wallpaper.

Upon buying it, Tom Nook, our friendly neighborhood con artist, greets us and berates us for having no money. Then, he directs us to say hi to everybody in town (including the mayor he pushes!). When done, he wants us to meet him back at his shop to work for some pocket money to pay off some of our loans...

We meet the following villagers:

Pippy

Bud

Rolf

Tipper

Mitzi

and Walker

Awesome! Some favorites in there (Pippy, Mitzi, and Tipper) and some cool ones I've never met before. :)

After meeting all of them, we then go and meet our favorite tortoise mayor, Tortimer.

(while the above gif chooses Pelican, I actually am quite fond of cats.)

The old man berates me for being a 'kid these days' and choosing cats and not turtles, and after a fond greeting, I am directed back to Tom Nook.

...

OOPS!

I must have forgotten!

Upon saving to go eat dinner for a bit and come back to speak with Tom Nook, Resetti pops in to say hi. However, instead of yelling at me per usual, Resetti praises me for saving properly, instating the importance of saving my game before quitting, and not resetting.

Solid advice, from a cranky old guy!

Now it's time to go speak with Tom Nook!

He gives me a uniform...time to get to work!

Handing me a few flowers and tree saplings, my first task is to decorate the front of the shop.

Task handled! I love decorating!

My, look at the pretty flowers.

However, this work uniform is getting quite itchy... I'm sure Tom won't mind if I take it off...will he-?

Oopsies again...

Why are all the old guys in this game against the 'kids these days'? I wonder if one of the writers of the dialogue is a parent or a cranky old man?

Oh well, he forgives me as long as I don't wear anything inappropriate and then gives me a new task.

We are to deliver a piece of furniture to Mitzi, and to be quick about it too! His customers expect high-quality customer service, and to be late would it put another strike against our old man here...

Upon delivering it to Mitzi, she goes into the pain of working, but how wonderful it is I have a job, due to my new house...

Speaking of my new house!

OMG! How nice of her! I wonder what it is?

Well, this can mean one of two things:

I stink really badly, or she noticed the lack of plumbing in my new quarters. Either way, it is highly appreciated!

Upon explaining the ins-and-outs of interior decorating, and asking me to reflect my true personality in my home design (like the sweet girl she is) Mitzi proceeds to ask me a question:

Thank you very much Mitzi!

Indeed I am!

Mitzi is such a sweetheart, proceeding to tell me about how she'll write this down in her planner, and talks about getting me a present on my birthday. Then, she apologizes for distracting me from my work, promises to talk later, and leaves.

Tom Nook compliments me on my speedy delivery when I come back, and asks me to then send a letter to Rolf, thanking him for his patronage. He directs me to the post office window in the town hall, and tells me to hop to it!

Welp, I don't know much about Rolf, besides the fact that he's cranky, and threatened to beat me up for scaring him at our first meeting. I guess I should write him a cranky letter threatening to beat him up if he doesn't continue supporting the shop?

Ah yes, the old days, when cards were formatted weirdly for some reason.

Either way, I hope this encapsulates the threatening aura Rolf likes to put out, and I hope it encourages him to continue his patronage.

Time to go send my first letter!

Pelly thanks us for the letter, and we make our way back to Tom Nook, who berates me for dilly-dallying.

He then directs us to give a carpet to Walker. I hope this is my last one, I'm so tired!

'That's weird!' Walker says, as he questions why Leo is delivering his carpet from Tom Nook.

Well, aren't the people of this town nice? First the shower from Mitzi, and now the carpet from Walker! How fantastic!

And now Walker gives me advice on how Nook's Cranny works. And then it's time to go back. This job is so tiring!

Ugh! Not Rolf of all people! Oh well.

Might I mention that I just now noticed Rolf lives right next to me? Talk about horrible neighbors! Well, I hope he's as grateful as Mitzi and Walker were:

Great start :(

We give the Rolf, and I am shocked at his use of the word 'thank you.' Then he shows me the letter I had sent him and laughed saying he liked it.

He then gives me advice on letter sharing. Much appreciated, he seems to be in a good mood.

Noticing how close my house is to Rolf's, to Nook's dismay, it is time to go to sleep and continue tomorrow!

I have run out of images, and am a little tired. I hope Nook doesn't mind!
