Why do we refer to some things with the Poké-prefix? It feels a little redundant, like it implies that there is a non-pokédollar for example and signifying ours is special……. what does the government know that we dont?

yeah, I don't really hold it against anyone for just not knowing. their PR propaganda was SO thorough, and there still wasn't a ton of inter-region communication at the time outside of like news broadcasts, so even people in more remote areas of Unova tend to have not heard what Plasma was really like. it sucks.

that's cool that you have some ex-Plasma staff though! for the most part they tend to be good folks. there are a few who turn up to the local Pokemon Fan Club's rec league battle nights, I think they're also involved with the ex-Plasma network still trying to match up stolen pokemon with their old partners. I don't know any of them that well but they seem really passionate about pokemon!

yk it's entirely expected and unsurprising that the secret leader of Team Plasma was very anti pokemon rights but on the whole its kind of interesting that unova got maybe the ONLY criminal team to actually. be kind of right. im not saying I'd do it now but if I had been roped into the propaganda sessions back when team Plasma started up I probably woupd have joined bc I'm gullible and already believe half that shit

I'm sorry, I don't usually get into stuff like this online, but this is something that pisses me off without fail - not pissed off at you specifically, OP, just at the misconception.

Why is it that everyone thinks that Team Plasma EVER had pokemon's best interests at heart?? I'm talking about the grunts, not just the leadership. That group was made up of 90% pokemon abusers from the very start! Why does nobody know this!!

I know several people who had pokemon stolen by Team Plasma back when that whole thing was going on (everybody knows someone who knows someone - the bastards were everywhere), and out of the ones who actually managed to get their pokemon back, I know one whose partner doesn't still have signs of trauma from that time. Almost every former Plasma abductee I've met has either physical or emotional scars from the experience. I have a friend who had to give their Sandile an everstone because of how much the guy who stole it made it faint, trying to force it to evolve. It straight up panics at the mention of evolution now, it freaks out without its everstone. And that's only the most dramatic example I know.

Team Plasma did not care about pokemon welfare. They got in a few true believers with their propaganda, and sent those poor schmucks out to do public outreach while the rest of them went right on stealing and hurting pokemon just like every other evil team in the past few decades. They're no different, and it drives me insane that their PR was apparently so good the people STILL believe the lies, even years after they were disbanded!

There were a few members who actually cared about pokemon, and they dropped the team like a hot tuber after that whole thing with the League building getting destroyed, and a lot of them are actually out there now doing a lot of good in the world - all my respect to them! But the rest of the team were just power hungry scumbags, which is why Neo Plasma had no trouble filling the ranks. It was all just the same people from old Plasma. The fuckers.
