I'm gonna need everyone to apologize to anime fangirls for everything you've ever said about them because I made so many people in Japan happy by saying their pet or tricked out pink motorcycle top box with stuffed animals on it was "kawaii!!!" I wouldn't have known that shit without them yelling that. so everyone who said they were annoying weebs was a fucking liar. they taught me a useful Japanese word and I made people with cute shit as happy as they made me. leave teen girls alone forever.

you know I'm back in new york because I shoved someone on the plane who was taking ten minutes to move his bag back and forth between bins and holding up everyone else, and said "really??" out loud to someone on the subway platform who saw me charging down trying to get to another car and couldn't move his ass back two inches so I didn't have to go around him. good to be back.

globalization should be like. you take everything good from every culture and you can get it anywhere. every convenience store has Japan-level konbini and you have a Finnish style dish drying cabinet over your sink and you can go to a Finnish sauna or Korea spa and you can get a Norwegian bed anywhere and everywhere has efficient and easy to use public transportation. and you can get really cool art & food from all over the world from really cool artists & chefs.
but it's not like that. instead every mall in every country had a L'Occitane, a Dolce & Gabbana, and a Starbucks. and I just. I know why & where we went wrong. you don't have to tell me. but every time I travel I can see the world we should have. and I hate it here in the real world so much.

On instinct, he put his head on Gimli’s shoulder, and felt him drop off almost immediately. (...) Before he did fall into Elvish sleep, he heard Gandalf say, very quietly (but not quietly enough for his sharp ears to miss it), to Aragorn: “How long?” “Since Lothlórien,” Aragorn said, equally quiet. “Not long, then,” said Gandalf. “Long enough,” said Aragorn. He sounded weary; this made sense, as nothing else in their conversation did. He had been riding long and was tired.
So last year I binge-read @windandwater Lord of the Rings fanfiction “Where you go, I will go” several times and reaaaaally enjoyed it! I got trapped by the great storytelling, Gimli/Legolas, and the found family trope (my biggest weakness!), and if that’s your jam I recommend you go have a look at it, it’s awesome.
I was very much influenced by a picture called “Couch cuddle” from @adorkastock ( Adorkastock ) I stumbled over once and haven't been able to get out of my head since.
I'd been thinking of doing an entirely separate post for the colored version of the lineart for a while, and seeing a bunch of people in my notes recently remotivated me, so here it is (but still with the lineart, because I like it). Cheers everyone, may spring be gentle.

London, Richmond Park: Mountain Laurel
These are the last pictures I took in England in 2022. It did take me 2 years to go through them for a reason (the first year was its own thing, but that second year was tough), and I won't lie that this last batch was very emotional for me. These were all flowers my dad loved, especially the rhododendrons. He would hike to specific places to see them and to get photos of in specific lighting. I felt him over my shoulder looking at these pictures with me the whole time.
I will always regret that he never got to see these. But I am very, very proud of them and I can see my growth as a photographer in every single one.
And to close, and to show you where I started, here is the first ever picture I took of mountain laurel, in my backyard (in a state where it grows native). I thought I'd lost this picture but it turns out he recovered it from my hard drive and apparently forgot to tell me--I only found it after his death.

I wouldn't say this is a terrible photo, but what I mostly see in it is potential. I see an 18 year old full of creativity waiting to burst out of her chest, who just needed a chance. And I see the person who encouraged her to take that and run with it and turn it into a passion.

This is another flower native to the northeastern US that you should be very careful about growing anywhere else, though I can't find any info on whether it's invasive in the UK. Still, it's one of my absolute favorite flowers and it always feels like a treasure trove when I find it growing somewhere.

people don't even ask if you need help they just butt in and start helping you and if you do say oh no I'm fine they drag you into being helped anyway. there's help desks everywhere and they never act like your question is silly. it can be confusing but it's a good place to be confused tbh
