YOU KNOW WHAT. On the subject of 10.06, let me read way, way (wayyy) between the lines for a little bit and talk about how Steve tells Danny “human to human interaction” is the whole point of being alive and then GLANCES DOWN. Like, at, say, Danny’s mouth? Checking Danny out generally?

Let me just. Repeat. “If you’re not gonna do that”, Steve says, while looking at Danny’s lips and talking about human connections and how that’s the thing that makes life worth living.

Ugh.

And if you really want to get your shipping Sherlock on, let’s also consider that Danny replies this:

So, “since when do you like people?”, Danny asks, in response, which in context is supposed to mean “since when do you enjoy socializing with other humans” (to be fair, he adds “are you social now, or what?” right after, to clarify this) but could also be interpreted as “since when do you like people”, as in, like-like, and also as in, not just women.

In other words, if you wanted, you could read this as Steve going, between the lines, “I think human interaction is really important and you should kiss me” and Danny picking up on it and covertly responding “right, so since when is that an option?” and meanwhile neither of them actually says anything outright and they’re never quite sure they’re both on the same page because it’s all hidden away in double meanings and so they keep endlessly circling each other like two moths who are both convinced the other is the sun.

(Am I saying this is subtext we’re meant to be reading here? Oh lord, no. Am I saying we can read it anyway if we decide to because there’s nobody to stop us? *maniacal laughter*)
