Diet and exercise are essential to a healthy start in weight loss and fitness.  It is very difficult for many people who want to lose weight but just don’t know how.  Taking baby steps in trying to accomplish your goals may just be as small as to not only changing your diet but changing the portion sizes of what you eat.  It is a well known fact that fruits and vegetables are the main focus to any meal all times of the day.  Those are the jumpstart to healthier eating and traditionally a healthier lifestyle.
Consuming dairy, whole grains, and lean proteins are all part of a nutritious eating plan that will surely help you to shed faster than just exercising.  Continue to drink plenty of water throughout the day and vary your food choices to make sure you get a wide variety of vitamins and other nutrients.  It is important to know your daily calorie intake for your age, weight, height, activity level and gender.  Every person is different and what works for you does not alway work for someone else.  Take it slow and come up with a plan for healthy living as a family.  Nothing is easier than losing weight when we do it together.

The idea of opening a mixed martial arts gym is just like opening most other facilities in the fact that it takes a dedicated person who believes in the power of helping others.  In the process of running a successful martial arts business there are some guidelines that you should follow in order to keep memberships and of course revenue within your gym.
Setting a price point based off of your competition is the wrong way to go.  Set your price based off of how much you want to make.  $100 - $125 per month is the average for mix martial arts gyms in Waukesha and the occasional monthly discounts also help in the recruitment of monthly memberships.  Just be sure to keep up with your membership totals and do not slack on collecting your membership fees every month.  Once you began slipping and allowing “I owe you” from your members it is hard to gain profits.
While others may be an expert in training in combat sports they may not always be business savvy.  Do not let anyone tell you how to run your business.  Run your gym on your terms.  The goals you set for yourself and your MMA gym should be to benefit you and your family.  What makes you happy will essentially make your members happy.
And most importantly don’t be afraid to put yourself out there for the sake of the business.  Promoting your gym through marketing and advertising is what every business needs to gain members.  Build a website, create flyers and banners to promote activities and if you can afford it create video content so that others can get a general sense of what your gym is made of.  Visuals alone will generate family memberships and showcase a great facility that all individuals can come and get martial arts training.

There is a lot of practical real world use for the skills found in martial arts and learned at Waukesha MMA. We’ve covered that martial arts can help relieve stress, improve focus and confidence and build strong body health; but is that it?
Naturally, it’s good to prepared for things we aren’t generally thinking of. We need to think outside of the box for all the true benefits that martial arts can provide us. While the above comic strip showcases a scenario that while unlikely, still could happen. Probably. Possibly. ...Maybe. It’s at a time like that that your martial arts training will truly ‘kick’ in and you will undoubtedly be able to save the world from strange aliens.
Here are a couple occasions that your martial arts and body combat training could come in handy that you probably haven’t considered yet.
A rogue group of disgruntled ninjas wreak havoc on an elderly care center in Brookfield. The ninjas are very skilled in many facets; but they have one weakness. One flaw. They are terrible at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Just awful. Will you be able to stand up to the ninjas and help the elderly citizens of Brookfield through your martial arts skills?
Or consider this, you are shopping with your family in Downtown Mukwonago. When all of a sudden Godzilla appears at the end of Main Street. He challenges you to a one on one round of kickboxing. If you win, he leaves. If not… certain destruction. Well, in this scenario, it does seem pretty hopeless. Godzilla is in a weight class all of his own, BUT it definitely wouldn't hurt to have some world class kickboxing training under your belt anyways. Just in case.
Do you want to start engaging some real world practice from your martial arts training and save the world from ninjas and potentially Godzilla? You’ll be one step closer by coming to the best MMA gym in Waukesha County: Waukesha MMA.

Bruce Lee is probably one of the most famous martial artists of all time. He competed in several competitions and appeared in many films, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest action stars of all time. He received many of martial arts highest awards and honors and was named one of Time Magazine’s ‘Most Influential People Of All Time.’
He likely didn't become the master of his skill the way that he was overnight. He stuck to rigorous training schedules and meditation. Just as Lee practiced and trained continuously we see in this quote that he still would fear that person who trained just as ceaselessly. Why do you think he would say that? Certainly, Bruce Lee of all people could take on any opponent who would present himself. Lee is saying anyone who practices is a worthy match and something that should be feared. We all know the saying ‘Practice Makes Perfect’. That is truth. Bruce Lee likely was not a martial arts master on day one, but he was much closer on day ten thousand.
While his wise words apply specifically to martial arts, these are certainly words to motivate us in every aspect of our lives. If we feel we are not up to par on something, we just have to keep trying at it. Whether its striving to reach a weight loss goal, or building up strength physically and mentally, or whatever is challenging you in your life right now. Just keep practicing. There will be improvement.
When it comes to martial arts practice, the best gym in Wisconsin that you could practice at is Waukesha MMA. Build up your body strength through kickboxing, or grappling. If weight loss is your challenge, try out the cardio boot camp offered at WMMA. Whatever it may be stick to your schedules and be inspired by the words of Bruce Lee.

When it comes to training and fighting, every MMA fighter needs to have certain kind of gear and equipment in order to be comfortable for combat.  As a basic guide, there are some MMA gear must haves that include rash guards that control moisture and sweat while grappling, jiu jitsu and wrestling.  They do everything a t-shirt cannot do in the event of training and that is keep you dryer and free of transferable diseases and skin conditions that you are liable to get from a sweat soaked t-shirt.  Along with that is grappling shorts, that are made out of lightweight and quick drying material.  Nylon or polyester are a must and it is best to have them cut slightly looser in the leg.  In addition to the top and bottom half, every mma gym will include or suggest that each participate own a pair of sparring gloves.  To keep gloves dry so that they last longer, glove dogs are useful because they soak up the moisture and dry quickly.  Velcro gloves about 14 to 16 ounces are recommended.  In order to protect your hands, you will need hand wraps.  Investing in more than one pair is advantageous as it will aid in you having to wash them more frequently.  As a side note, be careful when washing them in your washing machine as they can get wrapped around the center of your washing agitator.  Among other items needed in MMA when grappling are shin guards, mouth guards, groin protector and knee pads.

The common misconception is that if you join a MMA gym is that you are signing your life way to compete in matches.  That is hardly the case in any MMA gym.  Anybody that is signing up to join a MMA gym is signing up for the benefits of a good workout and what the facility has to offer such as kickboxing and cardio fitness classes.
Some of the advantages to Mix Martial Arts is that it teaches individuals to be more fit, healthy, flexible and balanced.  MMA gyms also engage their participants in enhancing their strength through self defense and self discipline.  And most importantly is that MMA is a great way to relieve stress and build confidence.  Once you join a MMA gym and become committed to a routine of fitness you forget about the troubles of the world and become more focused on feeling good about yourself.  Contrary to popular belief, MMA gyms can be fun for the whole family.  So join one today.

What does every parent want for their child?  To be happy, healthy, disciplined and smart.  One of the ways parents can assure their child is getting the best values of life long learning is to enroll them into a martial arts program.  Martial arts provides children with the discipline and life long learning experience that will aid them in the real world.
Now, not every child wants to participate in martial arts or understands the dynamic of the sport, so there are other activities that can give your child strengthening skills while they learn discipline and self respect.
Some of those exercises can include playing sports like soccer, basketball, baseball or football.  Home exercises like jumping jacks, stair climbing, squats, alternate toe touches, trunk rotations, or ski jumps.  Outdoor activities like kickball, rock climbing or running track.
No matter what, you want your child to incorporate both cardiovascular (aerobic) and strength (anaerobic) workouts which involves whole body exercises that encourages kids to train their sense of balance and coordination.  The benefits of exercise comes from being more confident, healthy, and essentially happy.  But the greatest benefit comes from exercising and training in a family oriented martial arts facility.

Whenever students come into my gym, quite early on they will hear something very important from me; that is that whatever training they receive at Waukesha Mixed Martial Arts is not to be used to start fights.  With that said, you can't really predict when you are going to need to rely on the skills learned when training in the martial arts.
This is a compilation video of a bunch of various street fights.  Take a look at most of these.  People almost NEVER use kicks when defending themselves.  Learning how to use well placed kicks in the event you are ever attacked is a crucial part of defending yourself effectively.
Warning: This video shows violence and has some profanity in it.

AM 1250's MMA Guru Tony Kamps Guest Post: Crossroads
In life we all will come to the proverbial crossroad. Which way do we go? Not every crossroad will have the same life altering effect as the one female MMA fighter Cat Zingano faces today.
Tragically Zingano’s husband passed away on Moday night. The circumstances of the death have not been released, but there are rumors Mauricio Zingano, who was only 37 years-old, took his own life. What Cat does next will ultimately determine her place in female MMA history.
Cat experienced a triumphant 2013 by earning a shot at the women’s UFC bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, by beating Miesha Tate in one of the most entertaining fights of the year. She was all set to coach opposite Rousey in the first all-fmale cast in season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, until she tore her ACL in the weeks leading up to the tapings. In a bizarre turn of events the woman Cat beat, Tate, took her place.
Her coach and trainer leading up to this has always been her husband, Mauricio. And now he is gone. We have seen fighters take a step backwards when changing coaches or teams, but this is different.
Losing a loved one at such a young age is going to be difficult to deal with by any standard, but add in the fact he was also her trainer and coach, makes this not only a family loss but a career loss as well.
Every fighter at some point will come to a crossroad and the question is simply; do I want to be a fighter? The answer to this question will send them down the path, whether they ever make it or have a quality career will be determined by many more crossroads. Cat it is at a crossroads now. She has already decided she wants to be a fighter, but now the question is can she go on being a top-level fighter without Mauricio in her corner?
