so i've been working hard to learn not to discredit what someone is saying just because they're saying it in a way i don't like.

i think this is especially a problem in liberal and leftist spaces. we tend to ignore someone's helpful worldview because they're not phrasing it in the exact right way (which they wouldn't know if they weren't in the same circles) and instead value someone's unhelpful worldview because we like their phrasing. but anyways i'm thinking about this because i'm reading an article from the 50's about how ableism and racism are two sides of the same prejudiced coin, and i'm imagining how tiktok leftists would cancel this guy immediately for using language that has since been abandoned, despite agreeing wholeheartedly with his message
