Something about how right after Buffy was resurrected Dawn & Spike were the only ones who knew how to treat her gently and calmly while the Scoobies were too loud and crowding her and making all these demands and then in Once More with Feeling, Spike and Dawn were the ones to break Buffy out of her song spiral at the end while the Scoobies just stood there and watched.

it drives me insane when people say season six is bad because it’s too much about real world problems and the early years weren’t like that. seasons 1-3 are about buffy struggling with wanting to be a normal girl with a successful high school career and a boyfriend who’s good to her and a parent who understands her. that’s as “real world problems” as it gets when you’re sixteen. it’s just kid problems.

pretending the high school years weren’t about buffy struggling with real life as well as monsters manages to invalidate the unique experiences of both teenagers and adults.

the only difference is in s6 buffy is smacked with the reality that now shes an adult, she has to do these things on her own (because giles can force her to and she isn’t guaranteed a legal guardian) and if it gets fucked up the consequences are much more long term and devastating. she can be over not being crowded homecoming queen even though that was very upsetting at the time, because now she has to grapple with maybe losing her house and custody of her sister if she can’t pay bills and that will affect her deeply and forever.

that’s by design. that’s growing up. life was always the big bad. life just isn’t that big when you’re a teenager.

Cuddle sessions with Astarion would be ELITE. He would savour every moment of non sexual intimacy like it was his last. You could place your head on his chest and listen to the low rumbles of his voice while he speaks to you. He would probably stroke your hair or cheek absent-mindedly while recalling the days events. He would trace the curves of your body lightly with his fingertips. Enjoying how nice it feels to touch someone without having to perform.

It would be such a lovely moment that you would definately fall asleep in his arms. Since he doesn't need sleep, he would just sit there enjoying the feeling of each breath you take, every heartbeat, the warmth of your skin on his. It's almost enough to make him feel alive again.

The ONLY good thing about Gingerbread. Gahhh I have like this PET PEEVE against trash talk and catty threats but Buffy does neither in these situations. She shows up and does her little smile and stalker walk and the jocks know not to mess with her and I want to cry, I love the reputation she has in this school that will one day get her a Class Protector award

It is DEFINITELY NOT from being the Slayer. In fact I think it's mostly for that reason that she was Called in the first place.

I love it so much when we see Buffy standing up for random other students in the school... like yeah sacred duty forced on her yada yada but she just is a hero she cannot bear to see others hurt when she can do something to stop it and I don't think that's just from being the slayer

I have solved the mystery of why Spike feels so off in AtS Season 5. Because I'm rewatching Buffy's cameos in S1 of Angel and she feels the same way, in that she just doesn't feel like Buffy, at all. She's bitchier, whinier, way more self-absorbed, which was kinda the problem with Spike in AtS S5 as well.

And I can't help but wonder if that's because it's how Angel secretly sees them, so that's how they're portrayed on his show. It explains why he's such a dull hunk of wood and Spike is just charisma and sexiness and love and devotion and danger and pain on BtVS. Because that's how Buffy subconsciously sees them. Of course the actions are still the actions, obviously, however they're perceived, but that's not what I'm talking about. I mean that the characters were written and created from the POV of the protagonist, and even the actions we're not fond of just came along because the protagonist expected nothing less of them.

Would have been interesting to have a Spike series and see how he views these two lol. I'm guessing Angel as one of those French aristrocrats in a powdered wig and Buffy as a sword-wielding queen of the fairies.

Editing to add that I actually think there is a very clear divide on who belongs on which show. Angel, Cordy, Wesley, Faith, Harmony, Dru, and Darla THRIVED on AtS character-wise, and I actually liked every single one of them so much better on that show than I did on Buffy.

Spike and Buffy belong on the original. I'm a strong believer in crossovers, but only in micro doses, haha, and not destroying the stories that BtVS had been so carefully building.

Andrew can bop around on whatever show he wants, he's good at picking up the flavor of whoever he gets close to, like a mushroom.
