Sometimes I can't sleep and get super creative. While there are so many other amazing Paradise Fears songs, these are the most meaningful to me. 6 months ago today, I was still in Walden (ED treatment center) and I didn't know if I'd be allowed to go back to school after break. I did end up going back, and sometime during the first few weeks, my best friend made me a kick ass CD, which introduced me to Paradise Fears. This entire last semester has been really hard for me and I am so grateful to have the support of my best friend. I don't think I would've made it without her. One of my favorite things about our friendship is how we can truly be ourselves without the worry that we have to always act happy or always be in a good mood. If we were having a bad day or struggling with something, we would play gin rummy and listen to Paradise Fears for hours on end, which was unexplainably comforting. I recently discovered the Battle Scars acoustic album and I've listened to it on repeat mercilessly. Battle Scars and What Are You Waiting For are easily two of the most beautiful, meaningful songs I've ever heard and will forever be special to me and my best friend. I've been having a hard time lately, and while I'm doing better than 6 months ago, I know I have a long way to go. Their music reminds me that it'll all end up okay, and that it does get better. I can only hope that Paradise Fears will tour in Boston again soon, since we missed them this year. Until then, listening to their songs on repeat will have to do! You are worth fighting for, you know we've all got battle scars. I found a book called 642 Things to Write About the other day, and it's basically a bunch of writing prompts. They're all really creative. Some are deep and some are silly, but it's like a fun little journal. I love when people tell me random facts about themselves or memories, so I thought it'd be fun if me and my best friend filled these out and traded when we're done. We just started these a few days ago and I love it 😊
