It's always so disappointing when sci fi and fantasy books call their languages "Basic" or "Common". No language is apolitical or universal if they're all calling one language Basic, who made it that way? Why is THIS dialect "Common" and all the others are Special/Magical/Incomprehensible??? Show me even a hint of the politics, or give your language a real name

I saw a post once debating if Aragorn really should have taken Gondor’s crown after all and I’m not getting into that discussion, but I did take the moment to appreciate a post-War of the Ring Boromir and I love

There are various moments in LOTR (book) where the Fellowship of the Ring ends up defending Galadriel from the accusations of being a man-eating witch, and ok, but I feel like it would be funnier if she was really a man-eating witch. Because I'm a feminist!

4:00 am thought: it's never actually canonically established that Elros married a mortal woman

December; the 22
Yule day 2:
Where can Luthien´s sigil be found?
Happy winter solstice day!
Okay so I kinda forgot what day it is so there´s a unicorn version as well as a bonfire version
Mistletoe; Mistletoe represents romance, fertility, and vitality, and let´s not forget it´s a poisoned plant, although Celtic druids did use it for healing properties and decorations
Holly; Hollies were also used by druids as a symbol for fertility and eternal life and thought of to have magical powers - whereas when Christianity adopted the tree the leaves symbolised Christ's thorn crown and the berries his blood
Bonfire version;

I’ve said this before, but I always found stories that frame heaven as “evil” and hell as “good” (or less bad) to be genuinely boring. I like more nuanced approaches to each realm.
I understand that for a lot of people, Christianity is a religion they like to criticize and mock, but I feel like if you don’t even understand the fundamentals of the religion, why even attempt to critique it?

Flammifer. 2016, Digital.
“But on him mighty doom was laid,
till Moon should fade, an orbéd star
to pass, and tarry never more
on Hither Shores where Mortals are;
for ever still a herald on
an errand that should never rest
to bear his shining lamp afar,
the Flammifer of Westernesse.“
Amongst all the characters in the Middle-Earth canon, Eärendil has always been my favorite.
