So thoughts on Bakugou’s development: the boy’s made some excellent progress over the course of the series. Starting out as a cocky kid who put down nearly everyone he knew, including some downright cruel treatment to childhood friend Izuku, to boost his ego and focus on becoming the best; he’s since let his ego fall by the wayside and started showing much more care and respect to those around him, Izuku most prominently.

But that really makes me wonder…what’s next for him? Or rather, what’s left for him? Because really, a lot of his main flaws have been addressed and resolved, with this latest chapter kind of feeling like it put a nice bow on his biggest issues.

And what’s really weird about it is: that’s not true for many, if any, other major players. Deku’s seemingly overcome one of his personal major issues but still has at least 2 I can name off the top of my head, Shoto’s resolved next to nothing since the Licence Exam & has actually only gotten more dropped on his plate lately, All Might’s gotten a few new plots for himself since Kamino, and even Uraraka has a few things going on with her character. To say nothing of the major villains because we’d be here forever otherwise. The only major character I can think of with as much of a grip of his issues as Bakugou now has is probably Iida…Oh God, is Bakugou going to become the next Iida?

Probably not, but that leaves us pondering what’s next for his character. I genuinely can’t think of any existing character beats for him left (though in fairness I’m far from a major Bakugou fan), so perhaps it’ll be something new? Like All Might’s post-retirement plot lines? Perhaps bouncing of his recent development, he could end up becoming increasingly protective of his classmates; which would lead to him bumping heads with them over regular hero work, never mind guys like Midoriya or Shoto who want to save their villain foils. Or maybe he could get his own rival villain and see if anything comes of that. I mean what’s Geten done lately besides annoy Dabi and sit in jail? He’s probably available.

Or I suppose some unforeseen plot twist could shift his character in a new direction we can’t predict; again, like All Might with the Shimura twist or his doom prediction. That’s never off the table.

Those are my ideas anyway. But again, I’m no big Bakugou fan, so I lack the insights into his character. Which is to say, if any true Bakugou stans see this; feel free to share your own ideas on where his character might go or what personal plots of his I’m overlooking. I’m eager to know what others think of his future.
