Does 6118 have a birthday?

That's a good question. I think technically yes.

Obviously, in a meta context, his Article was posted Nov 8 2021, but I guess that's more like an anniversary than a birthday?

(I never understood the word "anniversary" because every time I hear it I think joyeux anniversaire, joyeux anniversaire, joooyeuuux aaaaniiiversaaaaiiire, joyeux anniversaire, quelle âge achoo, quelle âge achoo, queelle aaaaâge aaaaaachoooooo, quelle âge achoo?)

But in-universe, I think you could define his birthday as being the day he woke up for the first time (how it works for humans and other animals). Which doesn't have a canon date, so it could be whenever you want, really. It could even be the 13 September 2000. Sixth/seventh children?!

(They already have enough emotionless alien clones. Did you know that Hideaki Anno wanted to make Ayanami schizophrenia-esque? That's right, she's debatably schizoid, especially in the manga.)

TL;DR: A concrete one in meta and an undefined one in-universe.

Two questions:

•Do any of your characters(I’m also including 049 in here) have any kind of sensory issues?

•Is 049 the only one of his kind in your series?

This is actually a really interesting one for me to think about. I have severe sensory issues (FM+ME+ possibly ASD, currently "dxed" with Asperger's) but never thought too hard about writing it in.

It's less of a sensory issue, and more of a nervous system issue, but early on in his life, 6118 develops basically the alien equivalent to myalgic encephalomyelitis. (That word literally means muscle pain, brain and spine inflammation.) Briefly, it's a "my nervous system hates me" disorder. Part of that is sensory issues as well.

I never thought of 049 as having much sensory issues, since his clothes are basically a thick hide. It would be hard to feel a lot of stuff outside of his face and hands. Though, hyposensitivity is also technically a "sensory issue". I have a friend with autism who can eat anything, has extreme tolerance to cold, etc. because she has very little sensory feeling, part of her neurodivergency.

In my writing, at least so far, no other being like 049 appears, but in all of Altitudes, the Anaesthesiologist-- 049's brother-- does make an appearance, and is in fact a deuteragonist in Alzin Cdag's series "All That Copper, Glowing Fine".

Implying that the rest of the Children of the Barrow exist (or at least have existed), so there would be at least 4 total 049-like beings (including 049).

If nobody has told you yet, or this year, or even this day, I want you to know that what you can do is enough.

If all you can do is an hour or two of school/work, that's enough. If all you can do is go to medical appointments, that's enough. If all you can do is tidy up your room, that's enough. If all you can do is take a shower, that's enough. If all you can do is your hobbies/things that make you happy, that's enough.

If you can't do any of that, and have to lie in bed most days, or every day, and other people take care of you, you're living despite a world that is so hostile, you are suffering so much and still living. You are doing enough.

You don't owe anyone productivity. You don't need to have a job, go to school, or write or draw, or do anything else in order to have inherent worth and value. You deserve to be taken care of. You deserve to be loved. No matter what you can or can't do.

I've been thinking of doing shorter-form Tales. I have a lot of ideas, but don't want to spend another year trying to figure out how to fill them in with fluffy scenes. Plus, the largest negative feedback I've heard was that my stuff was too long and people didn't have time/attention to read it.

Most of the drafts I have are 1-2 thousand words, and while I thought I was going to add scenes before and after, it might be for the best if I posted them as one Tale and just had my series be a lot longer. (Like, instead of 5 ~4k word Tales, be 10 ~2k word Tales.)

I think this would also be beneficial since a lot of the stuff in writing is dark, from chronic illness to abuse to automutilation to worse. That way people can avoid the darkest of the dark, if they really need to, and still get the gist of the story.

Have to remind myself that not everyone wants to read about alien scurvy causing replantation scars to reopen as a metaphor for unhealed trauma... (Yes he's fine, benefits of living with a surgeon)

Crypticrisps (SCP art legend) casually posting the coolest realistic art of 6118 I ever saw?! For not reading much stuff with him, I'm very impressed, it's more accurate to my mental image than some things I've seen from people who read everything with him :0

And don't worry about not reading any Tales, I'm actually rewriting a lot of my stuff stuff right now, so it would be old lore anyways. But do read the Tales written by Alzin Cdag and @fiercefauna if you get a chance, they're really good. (I'm just fixing my own many errors I made since I'd never done creative writing before then, as well as working on characterisation, also known as heading straight to dysfunction junction. I don't know why my stuff is even semi-popular, even though I appreciate everyone who looks at my works.)
