Hmm let me get a poll for something real quick

I want to see how many people have easy access to nature, as I assume most of tumblr lives in urban areas such as cities or large suburbs, and a lot of people seem to not know much about the native species of plants and animals in their area. “Hello, coffee, I’d like a small bagel, with two sugars, and a cream cheese Rose, please.”

The new barista glances down at her nametag, raising her eyebrows, and tucks her tongue between the teeth of her slow smile. Blimey, she’s beautiful. “I’m afraid we’ve only got one size of bagel. Is a small coffee with two sugars and a cream cheese bagel all right instead?”

“Yes, isn’t that what I — oh! Oh, I’m sorry! I meant, hello, Rose, and I haven’t had my coffee yet —" He runs his hand through his hair, hoping his face isn’t bright red. If anything, her grin widens. “—and, erm, yes, small coffee, cream cheese bagel, please. I’m so sorry.”

Thank goodness she seems amused and not offended. “’S all right. Most people who come here haven’t had their coffee yet. Who’s it for?”

“Just the Doctor,” is automatic, but that’s probably not helpful. “Smith. John Smith. Doctor Smith, but I’ve always hated the sound of that…” He’s babbling, just like Donna said he would, and he abruptly shuts his mouth and gets out of the way. “…sorry.”

“You can stop apologizing.” She shoots him a last smiling glance before moving on to the next person in line.

When he gets his coffee, it is for “the Doctor.” There’s a number scribbled on the cup, too, and underneath it Afraid I don’t come in cream cheese, but if you’d like…

He immediately pulls his phone out, fumbling, Oh, I’d definitely like on the tip of his tongue, or rather, his thumb, and nearly walks into the glass door.

EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLESS YOU, FIC FAIRY!!!!! BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!! This is a delight!! Thank you so much!! 

I love a smitten Doctor. :D

Happy International Museums Day to the following people:

The guy who called me the Whore of Babylon for teaching kids about Ancient Egypt as I stood there and nodded.

The woman who was deeply incensed that staff wouldn't open the cases so she could touch the organic objects.

The one guy who made me translate hieroglyphs on a stele for him, then was mad because it didn't say what he wanted it to say, and reported me for 'lying' to the public.

The parents who objected to the taxidermied animals having taxidermied genitalia because it was unseemly.

Those kids on a school trip who got on the floor in front of a mummy and started chanting 'we worship Ra' as their teacher desperately tried to get them to leave.

That one guy who...uh...really liked geodes. No, they were not a special interest. He really, really liked geodes.
