Tea. The final frontier. These are my stories and photos of tea, and articles I find and reblog.
Everyone deserves to drink real tea. Seek loose leaf.

What remains after we drink tea? Since 2014 I have been drying and saving tea leaves brewed at home. I discovered a beauty in these used tea leaves.
It is also satisfying to know that a waste product I generate can go back into the planet.
This tea was featured in the exhibition "This is Tea" in Berlin, 2015.
The 4kg of tea leaves will be on display at the Berlin Tea Festival during my Interactive Session, giving attendees the opportunity to touch and see the beauty in this waste too. These leaves were also used to make a series of unique prints on paper, also on display.
The Berlin Tea Festival takes place 23 November 2019. My interactive session is at 13:45.
What remains after we drink tea? My Interactive Session at the Berlin Tea Festival features two answers: 1. pigment to make unique prints, and 2. a certain beauty in saved leaves…coming soon. Festival Date 23. Nov, my Interactive Session at 13:45.
Wet tea leaves pressed onto paper. This year at the Berlin Tea Festival I’m delighted to host an Interactive Session that poses the question “what remains after we drink tea?” This series of 15 unique prints provide an answer to that question, and will be on display at the festival. Details via Berlin Tea Festival. Date: 23. Nov, Session at 13:45.
Let’s have tea at the Berlin Tea Festival! Saturday 23. November at Heilig Kreuz-Kirche. I’m volunteering and will host an Interactive Session. Details soon.
This is a Chinese Puerh tea stuffed into a pomelo (You Zi Cha), c. 1990s, and allowed to age. I purchased it from David Lee Hoffman of “The Phoenix Collection” in Laguinitas, California, in 2017. Since then I’ve been chipping away at it. It brews very clear and aromatic infusions, both earthy and yes, citrusy. I brewed it a few times one morning, then again later that day, then again the next morning. By then it still had such nice flavor. A sign of a good tea. See the original post on this tea.
Delighted to receive teas from Renegade Tea Estate, and the great team of people working to restore tea cultivation and production in Georgia. So far the teas are very nice and have certain familiar qualities of twisted black teas, as well as a special character for each. Keep an eye on their site for their upcoming webshop.
I’m delighted to be giving a talk at the Berlin Travel Night, Tuesday 17 November at The Reed, Berlin-Mitte.
I’ll present my experience leaving my job in 2013 to follow my passion for tea, deciding to visit the Makaibari Tea Estate. This event is open and free.
