The Sunday Morning Post

October 29, 2017

It is with regret that the Sunday Morning Post will no longer be posting editions of it’s blog.

It was the intention of the SMP to promote and boost the stories, and artwork of the authors and artists who their piers felt deserved some recognition. However the lively hood of the blog depended on the interactions and submission from the community in order to survive. Which were very far and in between.

Until future notice the SMP will be deactivated.

Thank you for the time we had. It is greatly appreciated.

National Novel Writing Month | @nanowrimo is fast approaching, and if you haven’t started already, now would be a great time to get ready for a month’s worth of writing.

On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.

In 1999, NaNoWriMo started with only 21 people from the San Francisco Bay Area with a desire to write novels in a short period of time. Their goal was to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Since then it has blown up into a huge organization where thousands of people come together all over the world to help each other write their stories, though encouragement and swapping ideas.

October 8, 2017 15th Edition

Current News:

Yuri on Ice One Year Anniversary.

One year ago on October 5th, 2016, Yuri on Ice aired which resulted with one of the largest fandoms for Japanese animations. The show ran from October 5th to December 22 with a total of 12 episodes. The sports anime features male figure skating, produced by MAPPA and directed by Sayo Yamamoto. The series was created and written by Mitsurō Kubo, with character design by Tadashi Hiramatsu, and music composed by Taro Umebayashi and Taku Matsushiba.

The story follows Katsuki Yuuri, a 23 year old skater, after his fall from grace at the 2015 Grand Prix Final. It’s a story of how his long time idol, and 5 time world record holder, Victor Nikiforov, follows him back to Japan, declaring to be his coach. From there the story unfolds about their skating and their journey to meet each other halfway in both life and love.

The story is compliment with a cast of unique characters that bring charm and wit to the series.

Yuuri tries to be unobtrusive with supporting Yuri during skating; it's hard to judge how friendship works.

W.I.P. Motivation:

Ebb and Floe by Artdefines06 | @adrianasbusybrain (Click title to read story)

Yuuri and Phichit have always joked around about being contestants on the hit fashion design reality TV show, Ebb and Floe. When they get the chance to achieve that goal, Yuuri's anxiety holds him back from being able to audition. It only takes one night of drunken shenanigans to get Yuuri on the show despite his lack of audition, because who could say no to drunk Yuuri? Now he is in for a wild time while he tries to appease the judges, fans, and celebrity host, who is none other than Yuuri's long time crush and international supermodel, Victor Nikiforov. Can Yuuri win the rights to have his designs featured as a centerfold in Floe magazine? More importantly, can he win the heart of the man on the cover?

Ebb & Floe is a Project Runway AU that was originally published as part of the Victuuri Big Bang with beautiful art created by haru-tori.

Victor is a model who has lost his motivation and Yuuri is a shy designer who ends up as a last minute contestant on the show. This AU includes nods to canon occurrences, but also builds a world that makes the reader fall in love with the characters in a whole new way. The author has a talent with words that makes the story and the characters feel real and exciting. It is currently at four chapters, but will conclude with the publishing of the fifth. - @n3rdlif343va

ArtPrize is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place for 19 days each fall in Grand Rapids, Michigan. More than five hundred thousand dollars in prizes are awarded each year, which include a $200,000 prize awarded entirely by public vote and another $200,000 prize awarded by a jury of art experts.

Any artist working in any medium from anywhere in the world can participate. Art is exhibited throughout downtown Grand Rapids—museums, bars, public parks, restaurants, theaters, hotels, bridges, laundromats, auto body shops, vacant storefronts and office spaces. Artists and venues register for the competition then find each other through an online connections process in late spring. No one at ArtPrize selects a single artist or artwork, directs an artist where to show work or directs a venue what to show. In 2016, 1,453 works created by artists from 40 states and 44 countries were exhibited in 170 venues.

ArtPrize is free and open to the public and now attracts over 500,000 visitors, making it the most attended public art event in the world in 2014 and 2015, according the The Art Newspaper’s annual “Big Ticket List.”

Okay! So, I'm not a marvel fan, I'm more of a DC kind of person. And I was scrolling through the past abuse tag and I found this fic. I loved the film and while it had some of the film's aspects to it, it remained its own story. Its so heartwarming and beautiful and when Steve and Bucky had sex for the first time, it was the most beautiful sex scene ever written in my opinion. - @aeeimr

Welcome to this new YoI Zine project!

In this issue, the focus will be on our favourite heart-mouthed champion: Viktor Nikiforov!

The main theme of this Viktor centered zine is, in case the url haven’t given it away: softness.

Behind the persona that Viktor has built around himself as a god-like, star athlete, lies the personality he has kept hidden. The personality of a dorky, cheerful man who finds happiness in things such as spending time with his beloved puppy and having good soaks in the onsen.

So we expect all works on this zine to focus on exploring different kinds of softness which can be totally up to your interpretation. This can range from a younger Viktor playing with little Makka or enjoying a day off and indulging with chocolates, to current Viktor enjoying Mama Katsuki’s delicious katsudon or looking at Yuuri like he holds the world on his hands; to even future Viktor, all happy and teary eyed on his wedding day. Even just plain Viktor surrounded by flowers or having cotton candy. I’m sure you’ll come up with some amazing and cute ideas!

Also, this zine will be accepting both artists and writers! We want all written stories to have an accompanying piece of art. You can find more detailed info about this on our FAQ section!

While we love and support all canon and fan-interpretations and headcanons of our beloved Viktor’s personality and traits, we decided to narrow down the options to this wholesome theme ♥

The team consists of experienced online sellers and zine organizers, so all knowledge combined will help us bring a high quality final product to you!

Keith gets sick and tests the bonds of love.

“Keith, you’re sick. You are sick.” It’s like talking to a brick wall. Keith doesn’t even acknowledge he’s spoken. It’s late, he wants to go bed, and the only thing keeping the both of them here is the fact that Keith can’t make it more than a few steps without falling over.

“I can sleep here.”

"No, you can’t. Keith, this is ridiculous. You're—“ Shiro scrubs a hand through his hair. God, he's worse than Slav. He almost says that—almost means it. Keith gives him a doleful glare and doesn't move. They're at an impasse, and Shiro is a breath and a heartbeat from leaving him right where he is.

But then Keith sniffles, and wipes his nose with the back of his hand. It's gross, objectively, which doesn't explain why Shiro’s heart stutters for a beat.

I never thought I needed sick!Keith. This fic is cute domestic fluff with a bit of space family fun and I loved it to bits. 300/10 would read again. - @word-spielen

What is the Shit Bang you ask? It is an amazing event for writers and artists to come together and write and draw about the amazing anime we all love: Yuri!!! On Ice! After an academic career at MIT and Oxford, Yuuri Katsuki eschews job offers at places like NASA and CERN to go work at the Very Large Array in what Phichit Chulanont lovingly calls The Actual Middle of Nowhere, New Mexico, monitoring radio frequencies from light-years away. He's loved the stars for as long as he can remember, and the universe feels so big sometimes that Yuuri is sure it would be a cruel mistake for humans to be all alone.

Enter the latest scientist to join the staff of the VLA, enigmatic Russian genius Victor Nikiforov, around whom Yuuri’s entire universe seems to bend to make room, and the strange, recurring dreams Yuuri keeps having, where something like love carries him across the stars.

10 Questions Every Fic Writer Secretly Wants to be Asked by @wyseink (Click Title to reblog)

There are a lot of fic questions that float around online, but rarely do they ever ask specific questions about the fics themselves. Ask any writer one or more of these ten questions to learn more about the fic and show support.

1. Of the fics you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

2. Which scene was your favorite to write in [title of fic]?

3. Which part of [title] was hardest to write?

4. If you could change anything in [title], what would it be?

5. Did you make an outline for [title]? Did you stick to it?

6. Which scenes did you cut, and which were added in [title]?

Story Prompt:

Monochrome by @diamondwinters An AU where people who are sad, down, depressed cannot hide it. Whenever you get sad, you start to loose your color. Your skin turns pale, your eyes loose their color, and turn gray or white, and your hair turns gray. Like an old black and white tv show, you loose all your color when you’re very sad. A little bit of sadness might dim your natural colors, but you wouldn’t loose them. It’s during a time when you feel heart broken, or very depressed that you go Monochrome. Such as a big break up, a death of a loved one, deep depression, etc. Monochrome is the medical term used by the doctors in this AU to describe turning gray in a world of color.

Some people who are unable to get happy, may use make-up, contacts, and hair color to hide the fact that they’re depressed, but eventually even those things will loose their color and will need to be replaced.

The best thing to do is to find your happiness. Be with friends, and family who can help you bring your color back. The brighter you are, the more vivid your colors are, the happier you are.

When the full realization hit him, Yuri felt as though he couldn’t breathe. Detached and fleeting thoughts that had passed through his mind finally took shape in these three words at that exact moment. The I being himself, Yuri Plisetsky, age 17, a Russian figure skater with a list of impressive accomplishments to his name that seemed pretty pointless right now given the context. The want being desire, the need to bury himself, the thought to consume, but never actually act out except behind locked doors in empty beds or shower stalls. The him being the person standing across from Yuri sipping coffee from a take-away cup with creased brows, the low sunlight hitting his face just so to light up his otherwise dark eyes. Someone he considered to be his best friend, who came all the way from Almaty just to spend a week with him and who was blissfully unaware of the fucking turmoil Yuri was feeling in the pit of his stomach. Or at least, Yuri hoped he was unaware.

In which Yuri Plisetsky invites Otabek Altin over to stay with him in Saint Petersburg, freaks out over his feelings and delves into Lilia's liquor stash.

Olympic Figure Skater Johnny Weir spoke at the Crunchyroll Expo about Yuri!!! On ICE! Yuri!!! On ICE the global sensation that is both broadening the anime community and exposing a host of anime fans to the world of figure skating.

A phenomenon Olympic figure skater, who is so enamored with the show that he even recorded a video talking about why he loves it.

And for Crunchyroll’s first ever convention, they invited Johnny Weir as a guest!

He was there for two days, both Friday, August 25, and Saturday August 26, signing autographs, and speaking on stage. Part of which was about his thoughts on his favorite and not so favorite characters from the very popular anime Yuri!!! On ICE.

In a time when homosexuality was considered a disease, and illegal in many places, Yuuri and Viktor fall in love. It doesn’t help that Viktor is from Soviet Russia, with their communist regime, and Yuuri is from a society where old traditions must find a way to thrive in the modern world.

Story Prompt: Write a story where one of your characters keeps breaking the 4th wall. Art Prompt: Otabek learns how to ‘Boop’ by @gurlnextd00r Yuri and Otabek are chilling domestically in the kitchen, Otabek is leaning against the counter with a cup of tea in his hand and is staring down at his blonde who is very animatedly telling a story of a time JJ fell in the parking lot. He is fixated on the blonde’s cute little button nose, and then.. "So he’s literally on the ground and his coffee, like, every where" Yuri states when he turns to face Otabek again and suddenly a long finger is lightly pressed onto the tip of his nose. There is silence, Yuri stares at Otabek, Otabek staring at his finger and Potya stares at the twos interaction. Then suddenly a sound breaks the cold silence “boop” says Otabek.
