Last night, we decided to go to One Tree Grill for dinner. We all had three different main menu plates, in addition to half a dozen oysters and some vegetables on the side (not pictured). We also shared a glass of red wine (not pictured also).
For my part, the main I had a seared duck breast, which came with cranberries, red cabbage gnocchi, kohlrabi and dolce forte sauce.
I loved the duck as it was nice, fresh and tender and everything on the plate complimented it as well. The sauce and cranberries complimented the duck very nicely. What I loved about the cabbage is that it doesn't have a "cabbage" taste, something I don't like. The gnocchi was also really nice.
I loved the oysters to, they were creamy and nice. It was a little pricey, but was still pretty good.
Although the menu is pretty pricey, the food is worth it. Definitely recommended for special occasions, or if you are looking for a great place to eat out with friends or family in the Royal Oak/One Tree hill area in Auckland.

When we arrived in Rotorua nearly a week ago for a short trip, we went to a restaurant in our hotel that we had stayed at - at Princes Gate Hotel - for dinner. We ordered three things - grilled bruschetta, soup of the day (we had creamy tomato soup) and fish of the day.
I loved the bruschetta, it was delicious and crunchy, with cheese on top. The tomato soup was really nice and smooth, warm and creamy. I loved the fish of the day, the fish and prawns was nice and fresh and the sauce and potatoes was delicious.
It was a pricey meal compared to much of Rotorua, but the food was worth it. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Rotorua.

On the morning of the first full day in Melbourne, we decided to have breakfast at @collinscoffeehouse - which was not too far from our hotel from which we were staying at. We had breakfast before making our way down to Federation Square to catch a shuttle to Chadstone, which is a really big shopping centre in Melbourne.
I had scrambled eggs with toast and butter, which was also served with bacon and came with some vegetables and garnished with dill (which I ate also). I also had a cup of hot chocolate, which is what I typically have in the morning on cold days, and in Melboune it is very cold during the colder months.
The scrambled eggs were so delicious, creamy and smooth, and the bacon was done just right - crispy yet not too salty (just the right amount of salt). I also loved the fact they served a large portion of butter for me to butter the toasted bread with, and also the fact that it did not come in plastic wrapping (plastic packaging contributes to environmental pollution).
The hot chocolate was also delicious, and nice, warm, sweet and creamy. I loved how it came in nice historical style tea cups, it is very pretty, as is the cafe itself with beautiful furniture and settings - interestingly enough, it is located in the Bank of New Zealand building.
I definitely recommend this place for breakfast, as it is not too far from the main street (Flinders Street) and the CBD itself, where you can catch trams to get to places of interest, or spend time in the city itself exploring and go shopping if you are a visitor.

A few days ago in Melbourne, we decided to have lunch at The Breslin Bar and Grill, along the waterfront, facing towards the Yarra River.
We ordered four things in total. We got Waygu beef tartare with confit egg yolk and pork crackling, yellow fin tuna sashimi, prawn and clams linguine (it normally is served with mussels but they ran out of it that day) with preserved lemon, capers and garlic crumb, and a banoffee cheesecake cocktail as a drink.
Food was delicious and as someone who love to eat very rare or raw beef, this was nice and tender and fresh. The pasta was great too, although sadly we didn't have the mussels that we wanted as they ran out of them.
The cocktail was absolutely delicious, which contained vanilla vodka, banana liquor, fresh banana, butterscotch and cream. It also came with edible - and delicious - garnishes too which I liked as it complimented the drink.
Side note, Melbourne can get very cold during late autumn and in winter, so be sure to ask for a heater, or be seated inside. Or wear a jacket when dining at this restaurant, or anywhere along the river.
Highly recommend this place if you are in Melbourne at present.

Last night, we went out for dinner at The Good Luck Coconut, and we ordered a few things.
We had the Ika Mata (raw market fish with coconut, lime and mint), crispy chicken karage with coconut sambol, chilli and lime, rum glazed pork belly with pineapple and green chilli salsa and savory coconut rice (not pictured). I also had the Last Resort cocktail, which composed of white rum, yuzu, blue curacao, lemon and soda.
The Ika Mata was really nice, the fish was fresh and did not have a fishy taste, which I liked, and another bonus is that I like raw fish too. I liked the chicken and the coconut sambol sauce that accompanied it - it was delicious. The pork belly was also really good, it was easy to eat and not tough and chewy (unlike those you would find at a cheap take away place that sells roasted meat) and the presentation was really well presented and in an artsy way too. The drink was really nice and refreshing, and the colour and the garnish actually makes the cocktail look really appealing to drink.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good place to go for dinner.
Be careful though, some nights are really busy and so you will want to book in advance - others may be closed for private events and the best time to go would be on a night that is not so busy, unless you have an occasion on OR you are organizing a dinner with your friends or colleagues.

Two days ago, we had dinner at The Oyster Inn at Waiheke Island, just before we returned home. We ordered four dishes, in addition to half a dozen oysters (not pictured) and a negroni (not pictured here also).
We ordered chicken karaage, market fish crudo, pan fried market fish and choux buns.
Every dish was really good, with the dessert and both the crudo and the pan fried market fish being the highlight. I loved that the chicken was boneless and it was easy to eat, in addition to the delicious soy and chilli caramel sauce added to the chicken. The pan fried market fish was fresh and the skin was nice and crunchy. Also the sauce was really good and I enjoyed drinking down the sauce! The crudo was absolutely delicious and also, the fish was fresh, and I loved the cream, the taste and the texture of the dish - it was crunchy and the sauce was also really good. The dessert was just so delicious, I loved it as it came with lots of caramel at the bottom, and the choux buns was nice and soft, and the ice cream perfectly complimented the nice, hot gooey caramel sauce that we poured over it (sauce not pictured here, it came seperately in a pouring cup). The hot caramel sauce was just so good and it melted the ice cream which is what I really liked.
It was an expensive meal, given the amount of dishes we had - and also the price of each one. But it was definitely well worth it, and will definitely come back again, and I recommend this restaurant to those visiting Waiheke Island or are living there.

Two days ago, we went to The Heke for lunch at Waiheke Island, Auckland. We ordered 3 food dishes, and a glass of wine (not pictured).
We had Southern fried chicken, Charcuterie (which is a cured meat) and Marinated Grilled Eggplant.
My favorite dish was the Charcuterie, as not only was it very nicely sliced and prepared, but the meat tasted just so good. I also liked the eggplant as it had chilli, which spiced up things a lot - and it also had a lot of crispy shallots, which I loved because it added crunch and texture to the dish. I also liked the fried boneless chicken, and the dill and buttermilk sauce that came with it, it was delicious as well and easy to eat.
Adding up, it was also not that bad in price, given the food we had was really good with a good glass of wine also.
Definitely recommend this place for anyone who comes to the island, it not only has good food, but the vibes and scenery around are amazing with lots of insta worthy spots at this precint for some photos and selfies also!

Two days ago, we went to Frasers cafe in the Mt Eden village for lunch, and we had a cheese scone, a decadent chocolate cake, a filo wrap and a quiche (not pictured in this post). Given the recent storm and the rain, it was a good day to have lunch indoors and the settings, beside the point, were very nice too, with a classical setting and a lot of vibe!
I loved the scone as it was nice and moist, not dry, and it came with butter which was good, as I like my scones buttered. The hot chocolate was really good - it was absolutely delicious and sweet. The filo parcel was good to eat and it did not have a vegetable taste to it, which is what I loved about it. The chocolate cake was delicious, pretty rich and sweet, but decadent - I have a sweet tooth so I am good with really sweet cakes.
I highly recommend this cafe to anyone passing by Mt Eden as the food here is really good considering the price, which can get a little pricey.

Yesterday, for lunch at Azabu in Mission Bay, Auckland, New Zealand, we had black tiger prawn dumplings, grilled octopus, tuna sashimi tostada and nikkei steak (not pictured). I also had a Havana Upper Class cocktail, which is also not pictured here. The tostada had fresh tuna and was very tasty, as was the grilled octopus, which was easy to eat (unlike street food prepared octopus). The black tiger prawn dumplings were just as yummy and tender - and were also neatly presented. It was a pretty expensive lunch, with all (including the cocktail and sparkling water) totaling around $140 in total. However, it was worth the price given the quality of the food and service.
I highly recommend coming to this restaurant if you reside in or are visiting Mission Bay and are there for an occasion or just a catch up with friends or family.

Third out-of-region post on this page, and the first one since the four lockdowns that Auckland went through. Today, we went to Cookie Time in Queenstown, we got a double chocolate fudge brownie shake as shown here. It was incredibly delicious - the cookie on the shake is very freshly baked, as is the ice cream, which had a nice chocolatey taste made using fresh milk. It was $12 as it is a freakshake. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who goes to Queenstown as the cookies and drinks are freshly baked and taste absolutely delicious. (We also had a freshly baked cookie - but not pictured here.)

UPDATE:  As another reviewer who I have worked with decided to leave and quit the Envia brand entirely, I have taken the time to update this page to make it about my own food and drink experience. Unless people want their reviews posted to this page, this page will be based on my own reviews of food and drinks from now on.
Currently, we are still in alert level 3, which remains until this coming Friday. Until Friday, I won’t be able to review food and drinks at restaurants.

Two nights ago, I went out for dinner and a drink with a friend at Zool Zool, a Japanese restaurant in Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand. And we had a dessert each. I chose to order a cream caramel, which is a form of pudding, and this one came served in a sealed jar, which I had to open the lid in order to scoop the dessert out to eat. The pudding is wonderfully sweet, with a very nice, smooth texture and a slight crunch-like texture. The bottom bit is caramel, which has a bitter taste and a burnt like flavor, in a really pleasant way. The bitter taste and the burnt like flavor of the caramel complimented the smooth texture and the sweetness of the cream (the top part). It was served cold as well. It was a fairly decent price for the dessert, which was $6.00 NZD. Overall, the dessert was absolutely delicious, although, admittedly, I wish the serving was bigger. I would definitely order this dessert when I go back to this restaurant again.

Venturing out yet again, this time up north (to a restaurant known as Schnapper Rock) , I went out to a restaurant for dinner (3 nights ago), and decided to order free range jerk chicken, with mango jalapeno salsa, garlic yogurt and Jamaican rice. It was a reasonable portion size, and the salsa was very refreshing with the right amount of sweetness not to mention that the meat was nice and tender and easy to eat, and tasty as well. The salsa was also spicy, but not too hot, allowing other flavors to come through. The sauce and the rice was also delicious. I don’t know how the rice was yellowed, but it was very appetizing and it was delicious and well cooked. The only down side about this dish was that it was a little expensive (pricey), with this dish amounting to $31.50 in total. Overall, I recommend trying this dish if you’re headed to this particular restaurant (name is located at the very top above) at least once.

This is my first time on Envia Taster venturing out of the Auckland Region (I have reviewed restaurants and their foods on my own profiles like Foursquare and Yelp) and trying out a completely different restaurant. Tonight, I went to Smoky Pallet Freehouse, which is a restaurant located in Whangamata, in the Corommandel Peninsula, Waikato region. Last night I ordered a Crispy Pork Belly dish, which obviously features pork, which was tender, crispy and easy to eat with it not being overcooked - it was perfection. The other components of the dish were rice, which was very nice and fragrant, with a fragrant spicy undertone to it, and a salad, which had spring onion, mung beans, shallots, coriander and another vegetable (greens). The salad was nice and refreshing, and did not have too much of a vegetable taste. The sauce that came with the dish was good, did not taste too sweet, and complimented the pork. I also love the presentation of the dish, as it made the whole thing appetizing and appealing. This dish amounted to $19.50. Definitely recommend this place if you are headed up to this part of the Corommandel.

As a fan of alcohol and ice-cream (or rather sorbet in this case), I decided to pay a visit to giapo and order an aperol spritz ice-cream. The Aperol spritz ice-cream is made out of two alcoholic ingredients - Chinzano Prosecco (a sparkling wine), Aperol (which is a liqueur), licorice root, orange juice and also is mixed with sugar, according to the Urban List NZ. Taste wise, it is truly refreshing, although not very sweet, you can still have that hint of sweetness and it's very nice and tangy and has the right amount of tartness. The ice cream is also quite bitter, just a word of warning to those who expect it to be sweet - it is not that sweet. It is also icy cold which is fitting as it is a sorbet based ice cream after all. It was pretty pricey for what it was, $17 for the ice cream- but it was worth it, especially given the cone was covered in chocolate and sprinkled and dipped with nuts at the top of the cone and the ice cream itself had lots of components, including three olives (which are hidden behind stuck to the ice cream on a stick and not pictured) as well as an aperol spritz logo in white chocolate (which is pictured) and ingredients. Also Giapo is well known for exotic and artistic creations with ice cream. If you like a really sweet ice cream, and find aperol spritz too bitter, or don't drink alcohol, this is not the ice cream for you, otherwise, if you, like me, like to try something different, this ice cream is well worth the money and taste. Please note this Aperol Spritz Ice Cream is available until the end of February 2020, if you live in Auckland or are visiting Auckland, New Zealand. You still have time, if you want to try, do so before the end of February.
