Some of my ideas finally congealed into a solid form, banged this out in like 2 days. Mind the tags! There's nothing that's SUPER bad, but the focus IS someone who's been imprisoned and tortured, and isn't in a sound state of mine.

Not me making myself sad thinking about Ruin qq

Im just! He never got a chance! He spent 50 years in his own dimension just trying to survive, not draw attention to himself while he worked on his plans to not just get rid of his Creator, but all Creators that were going to be problems.

And then he gets to 'our' dimension, and while this can't be the ONLY time he's ever had the chance to have allies, it's certainly his Best chance. Especially when they don't kill him! They 'cure' him instead! Surely there's hope!

And then it doesn't

Go

Anywhere

He lived as an ally for 3 months before anyone bothered getting him repaired. He was an afterthought, an awkward annoyance.

And everyone puts such great emphasis on how they didn't trust Ruin-- but I don't think he ever was given a reason to trust THEM. And whatever tolerance or hope he had for finding allies, maybe even friends, went out the window when Moon demanded to pick through his head.

How fucked up is it, knowing you have to corrupt most of your own mind to hide your tracks, because this person for sure will never be an ally? That any hope of being able to get their help in your plan, an effective yet terrible plan, has been completely dashed?

That you're as alone now as you have been for your entire life?

There had to have been alternatives. Maybe if the home crew had been more accepting, if Ruin had gotten access to different perspectives and resources and ideas, maybe an alternative could have been found.

But those things were never an option for him. And of course he stuck with the plan even if it meant Solar would die too-- sacrificing all dimensions for the sake of one person who was only kind of nice to you is a stupid thing to do if you've gotten this far.

(Man it must have hurt to hear Solar's last comment about him be "I guess we should have killed him". Like Ruin was an afterthought of some kind, not even worth addressing directly. Solar might as well have said "I guess I shouldn't have ordered the sushi".)

And yeah i know I'm just a major sucker for accepting punishment gracefully, of the fact that he knows his actions are unforgivable and hasn't tried to argue for any reasons why he shouldn't die-- the most he's said is a small plea that his death is painless, but even then he's resigned himself to suffering. He just wants to help. He's Moon's savior complex and Sun's unshakeable focus smashed together into one.

I know in the show either he's going to sacrifice himself to help, or someone like a Creator will kill him. I don't see him acting as a direct enough threat to justify letting the good guys kill him (congrats Eclipse you graduated to good guy for this).

But man.... I just really want to see someone have been nice to him. For Moon to forgive him somehow, maybe after Solar is back? I wish he could be pulled out of the pit he's in, because there's no light at all for him right now 8(

But I guess that comes with being an Eclipse. There's no hope for you, you're just.... screwed on whatever path you end up on.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Aaa i already covered hol hands so... oh! Little acts of... kindness? Acknowledgement? Things that aren't remarked on or asked for, but show that one of them knows what the other needs or likes and anticipating it. In 'Little Birds', it's Eclipse not closing the drawer all the way because Sun is scared of the dark. In 'Charade', it's Sun hugging Eclipse after seeing how bad his mental state is.

💞 Who's your comfort character?

jhdfjg I. Actually got into a discussion once about what the fuck a 'comfort character' is, because I've got that word autism and the specificity of 'comfort' throws me off. Google says it's a 'what character do you relate to' kind of thing, I've seen it defined as 'thoughts of this character comfort me'-- all over the board.

So I'll give you an answer to 'Who's your blorbo?' which somehow is an easier term for my brain to wrap around.

Sun.

XD Definitely Sun for SB in general, and Eclipse with a not insignificant amount of Sun for TSAMS. I like them anxious and barely holding it together.

I mean, Permission Slip by far, but it's also cheating a little by just being a much longer narrative than any of the others XD. But tbh, I do think it's a wild ride regardless.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Ouugh everyone gets metaphors. They're not always the same between fics, but they're consistent within the story.

Like... 'Settling In' has a reoccuring metaphor based around the phrase 'all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players', which is then expanded to Eclipse considering himself to be in the 'nosebleed' seats-- that is, removed from the stage of life, only able to observe others, and resenting it.

I'll also frequently mix the senses. A particular favorite is to describe a certain stressed tone of voice as "words shaped from shards of glass", to give the reader the sense of how painful and brittle the emotions are.

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

jndfjgn How about one of the like, four Ruin-centric ones? Because there's Beggars, of course, but I've also got something on the burner of like, after Ruin's motor control and voice have both been deactivated and he's imprisoned. Really him just sitting there and Thinking about things, the stress of the situation, how he feels about it. The good stuff.

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

jdfg all the time! >u< my chapter ends are chosen p much by 'what will make the best cliffhanger', and some of those can get pretty mean. There is also a plot point for PS that deliberately uses fanon assumptions against the readers-- here is the implication of a common trope, and I know folks will go along with it without stopping to go 'wait we were never actually told this".

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

I don't, actually! I have in the past, but I can't listen to words while trying to write words, so I just don't now. Even instrumental stuff can get too distracting if my brain is being real fussy.

I do listen to music while doing art, though! My current looped song is, uh. This one. >>;;; It slaps, okay?

✍ Do you have a beta reader?

The beta reader job of proofreading what I've written goes to future me 8'D Pretty much the first thing I do in a session is to read back over what I wrote last time to see how well it fits, check for typos, etc. I got that ADHD memory thing, so like, give me a week and it'll almost be completely new to me.

The beta reader job of offering feedback and ideas goes to a handful of trusted folks who love me and let me babble at them! For PS, its my sibling and a couple of close buddies who aren't reading the fic, and for SAMS stuff it's a handful of cool folks in a server.

Permission Slip's sequel! Pre-sequel? It's one of those things where the main story is all a flashback bookended by the present. Set six to two months prior to PS, it covers the DCA's friendship with a member of the security staff, and the incident that put the DCA on bad terms with security + got Moon marked out of order.

Permission Slip's file is called "Permission Slip (FNAF Security Breach)" because when I started it I was like 'oh boy I better mark what fandom this is for in case I forget in the future'.

I. Do not think I will be forgetting in the future.

Most of the other WIPS are saved either under the fic title or the series name, but my document where I start all my SAMS ideas before they get moved is called "SAMS Brainrot"

8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP

ndfg honestly I'm able to use most of my ideas, but THIS bit from Permission Slip's notes just didn't manage to find a place:

Knocking over something as a distraction for whoever is chasing them, have to grab Sun and drag him away from the distraction too.

Which is a damn shame, cos it would have been funny!

Oh, you have my curiosity peaked for the Eclipse chasing Ruin one! Is that something canon from SAMS? (I don't follow that show, but I do your writings, which I consume religiously, so just curious lol)

Yep! Specifically it's me rewriting the episode "Eclipse CONFRONTS Ruin in VRChat", which indeed had Eclipse chasing Ruin around the Arcade with the intent to kill him until Moon intervenes. That ep came out in the middle of me writing Beggars and I was like "....well this is awkward", but decided it would be a lot of fun to incorporate those events into Beggars anyway.

Naturally I'm gonna be ending that chapter differently from what the show did, since Beggars is my excuse to write characters hugging jnkdfgk

At that moment he hears a voice, too far away to make out the words, but the tone and pitch were probably seared into his skull by now. There was an answering growl from Moon’s chest, the animatronic’s grip tightening on Gregory and his gaze fixed back the way they’d come.

Vanny was on the hunt again.

Beggars:

A hand slams into the side of an arcade machine, splintering the wood cabinet. The screen flickers before going dark, cyan sparks dancing over its surface, drawn to Eclipse by the magic writhing under his casing. It burns, and he revels in the burn.  “I don’t care about Moon! You cheated somehow, didn’t you?! Ran a magnet over your head just in time to avoid any messy consequences."

9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

So you guys know the DCA visual novel made by @/snowyrey, right? After Hours? Ever since I've watched my buddy play it I've been toying with an idea very loosely based on it. Most of the time the story goes either that the reader/main character gets hired some length of time after the weirdness starts, OR they get hired and then the weirdness starts happening weeks/months later. Right?

But what if the weirdness starts on the same night they got hired? And both the main character and the DCA are like "??!?!?!? Do you know what that was? No? Neither do I!" and they team up to figure out the mystery as the only folks they feel are 'safe' from the weirdness.

Anyway I think it'd be a lot of fun!

Uuuh so for active WIPS we got: Permission Slip (priority on chapter 18, but any of it is fair game), the next 3 installments for Beggars (covering Eclipse chasing Ruin around the Arcade, the aftermath, and then Eclipse coming back), and then something with Ruin meditating on his imprisonment

There's a couple other WIPS (cos you know, there's ALWAYS more WIPS) but those are the ones that are getting pecked at
