I've been listening to this group of DJ's for the past couple of days, PELIGROSA. They're amazing.. here's a little backstory to them that I pulled off their website, you're welcome...
Peligrosa Established December 2007, PELIGROSA is a collective of DJs, producers and visual artists reenergizing the sights and sounds of Latin Americas past, present and future. We promulgate the antiquity of our deeply rooted sounds, cherishing it’s beauty, sheading light on it’s uniqueness while making it relevant to today’s audience. We play a wide variety of styles and enjoy music from the continents of South America, Africa and parts of Europe. We are dangerous music!

The Ultimate Gym Bag
Every one of you should have a dedicated gym bag. It shouldn't double as a weekend bag, or a carry on. This bag's sole purpose should be to store the grossness that is your workout attire. A few weeks ago while shopping with friends we found the perfect duffel at Forever 21. You won't see us endorsing Forever that often but dammit if this isn't an attractive, affordable bag. It's simple, surprisingly well-made, and at $25 we just couldn't resist. Order yours here.

Raf Simons for Christian Dior
One of the hardest things to realize in fashion is that the future lies in the past. I mean we always hear it, these “retro” looks making “comebacks”, but wait until someone does it in a couture show, people want to crucify the designer right away. Why is that?  Before watching this show today I told a good friend of mine “Dior can never do anything wrong. Remember a few years ago when they had Justice as DJ’S?!” she said to me “ I never followed it that closely because I was never a fan of the exuberant style”. The point I’m trying to make is that not everyone enjoyed the overly loud, melodramatic, totally impractical gowns customary of Christian Dior Haute Couture runways.  Dior existed long before John Galliano and it will continue to exist and evolve after him. Get over it. You miss the sky-high headpieces, the over-the-top theatrics of those shows? Go YouTube them (I watch the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2009 show at least once a month).  There’s a reason why Pierre Cardin, and Marc Jacobs were both at his show (amongst a half dozen or so other designers), and why A$AP Rocky mentions him in his rap songs. Raf Simons’ minimalistic style is genius and the future of Dior. He was able to entwine his trademark clean, minimalistic aesthetic on classic Dior silhouettes. The flower embroidered dresses were a thing out unimaginable beauty. I for one am pleased. And though this show wasn’t perfect and may have left something to be desired by most, it’s only his first collection for Dior. We still have an entire era of Raf Simons at Christian Dior to look forward to. Some of my favorites from tonight:

uniform experiment x Carhartt 2012 Spring/Summer Polo
uniform experiment meets American label Carhartt this Spring/Summer 2012 in yet another installment of their collaborative heritage workwear. The two new polo shirts from the collection come in somber black and blue and feature variations of both brand logos as well as the five star detailing now common to the collaboration. Contrasting collar and sleeve trimmings add detail to the otherwise classic navy. These pieces will be released on July 14 and cost ¥17,850 JPY (approximately $225 USD) and ¥16,800 JPY (approximately $211 USD) for the black and blue respectively.

SSDD 2012 Fall/Winter “Marfa” Lookbook
This maybe our favorite lookbook of all time here at "The Boy in the Coat". We are, after all, from Texas. SSDD drops its 2012 fall/winter lookbook, presenting a series of tasteful Western-inspired looks captured on location in Marfa, Texas (Previously known to the fashion world only because of its solitary Prada Store). The picturesque and highly cinematic lookbook stars some authentic cowboy types clad in rugged pieces including an array of denim, cowboy shirts, vests, jackets, hats and boots for the colder months. The collection is a triumph of design combining workwear, Western and military aesthetics, and Rick Rodney‘s photography does it justice in a way Tarantino would be proud of.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low 2012
After taking a glimpse at the upcoming collaboration between Supreme and Nike SB, the New York staple today releases further imagery to the special release. Treated in a customary cement/elephant print upper the pair pays homage to the 10-year anniversary of the Supreme Dunk Low. Featuring a tumbled full grain red leather upper and elements of black that trace their origins to the black Swoosh as well as the laces, interior lining, and the undersole, this release is certainly one of the most anticipated of the Supreme drops thus far this year. The pair is slated to arrive on July 19 through the New York, Los Angeles, London and online store chapters while Japan will see a release on July 21.

Air Jordan VII “Olympic” Retro
Marking 20 years since Michael Jordan and his fellow compatriots on the Dream Team dazzled on and off the courts in Barcelona, Nike presents a re-release of the Air Jordan VII with Olympic flare. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan VII was released in early 1992 in white/metallic gold-obsidian-true red and saw His Airness take home the gold while sporting the number “9″ – as referenced on the back of the sneaker. The Air Jordan VII Retro will release on Saturday, July 21 for $160 USD. So we gotta ask... Will you be getting them?

Jay-Z vs. Lana Del Rey – National Empire (Carlos Serrano Mix)
San Diego producer and DJ Carlos Serrano is back at it, but this time with an ambitious mash-up of Jay-Z’s “Empire State” with “National Anthem” from Lana Del Rey. The remix takes the Jay-Z edge and blends it with the key and darkened, beats of “National Anthem” for a unique track that Serrano is calling “National Empire.”

To all of my followers, this past semester was one of the hardest ones since I've been in college. I took a full class load and was working a lot so I failed to keep up and maintain this blog. I apologize. After the Spring semester I took two more classes in the first session of summer, then, as my closest friends already know, my car broke down and was in the shop for about a month and a half. I'm happy to say i got 3 A's and 1 B in the spring semester and 2 A's in the summer session. That being said I'm back and ready to start posting again. I did go through a lot this Spring and even my style evolved a little bit. Fair warning: you may see more street wear influence here than before but the original taste in fashion and style is not lost. Even though I like to dress down in Jordan's and a V-neck from time to time I can still show up in a J. Crew sailor shirt and a Brooks Brothers pull over from. Don't get it twisted. Thanks for all of your support.

Rumor: Tom Ford for H&M
The upcoming release between worldwide retailer H&M and fashion house Versace has stirred a lot of interest, which is expected considering previous collaborative efforts from Swedish H&M have been alongside the likes of COMME des GARCONS and Jimmy Choo. Now speculation is being raised about the collection to follow – reportedly, creative director of H&M Margareta van den Bosch stated “I can say, I wouldn’t mind” when asked on working with Tom Ford.
