So I finished Dead Boy Detectives a few days ago and I desperately need a season two and Netflix is completely fucked and probably won’t renew it (viewership is apparently very low) so I’m just here to say hey, please watch this show! It’s so good! It’s fun and weird and funny and queer and kind of shockingly violent and gory, and all of the characters are absolutely delightful. I don’t normally go for supernatural stuff, but knowing it was in the Sandman universe (also, I highly recommend watching The Sandman first if you haven’t, it’s even better, but also we’re on a time crunch here because again, Netflix is fucked, so if you don’t have the time you should go straight to DBD) made me want to watch it. I watched most of it in one sitting and I’m absolutely obsessed now.
So please watch it! Watch it twice, watch it three times, tell your friends and family to watch it! Honestly even if it’s not your thing and you’re not interested but you would still like to help, you could just mute it and have it on and not even watch. I might do that myself because I have other things to watch (and also I don’t want to get sick of it by watching so many times).
Anyway. Bottom line, please watch Dead Boy Detectives! Because Netflix is a fucked up company that cancels everything if the viewership isn’t super high and I need a second season so badly.

if you’re wondering if the dead boy detectives are platonic, romantic, queer platonic or familial the answer is yes 👍

I don't watch 911 but I am Catholic, so I'm curious, what's the Catholic
storyline?
One of the MCs (Eddie) has just had his girlfriend move in, and it was revealed that she planned to take the nun oath earlier in her life, but decided not to for some reason. Eddie grew up Catholic and went to a Catholic school, so it’s weird for him to be intimate with her because he imagines his teachers, I guess.
Kind of a weird storyline imo, but idk, that might be a legitimate thing for people haha. I grew up Christian though 🤷‍♀️

I dunno! I saw some people say it was racist and stereotypical… 🤷‍♀️
So.. why is the Catholic storyline racist?

well well
i’ve never seen anyone talk about erik probably having similar traits to august, and i get it because erik is dead and wilhelm looks up to him and we don’t want to taint the pristine reputation of the late crown prince… but i fully believe his hands aren’t as clean as we were led to believe.
and although it’s fun to sit around and theorize his presence at hillerska, i hope wilhelm’s perfect image of him is never altered too much. he doesn’t need to lose his brother a second time, after all.

i thought my dislike toward season 3 of young royals was due to my burnout and depression, but after careful consideration, i have realized that it's not! It's actually just not great! :))

i actually do kinda like delivering groceries on the side because it gives me such a unique cross-section of the community. i never know whose groceries im shopping for until i finish the delivery and see them/their home and it's like it adds more detail to the picture of who they are. the baby supplies going to the apartment that i know for a fact is one bedroom (they'll be moving soon - i bet they're apartment hunting, i hope they find a place). the new cat litter box, bowl, and kitten food going to the house covered in "i <3 my dog" paraphernalia (a kitten definitely showed up on the porch recently and made itself at home). the fairly healthy boring grocery order that includes an incongruous tub of candy-filled ice cream going to the home of an elderly woman with toddler toys in the yard (it's clearly for her grandkids, whom she sees often).
shopping for someone else's groceries is a fairly intimate thing. i've bought condoms and pregnancy tests, allergy medicine and nyquil, baby benadryl and teething gel, a huge pile of veggies paired with an equally huge pile of junk food, tampons and shampoo and closet organizers and ant traps and deodorizing shoe inserts and a million other little things that tell a million different stories in their endless combinations. one time someone had me buy one single green bean. i messaged them to confirm that's actually what they wanted, and they said yes - neither of them liked green beans very much, but they had a baby they were introducing to solid foods, and they wanted to let him try one to see if he liked them. another time i had someone request 50 fresh roma tomatoes - not for a restaurant, but for a person in an apartment. the kitchen behind them smelled like basil and garlic when they opened the door. another time i brought groceries to three elderly blind women who share a house. that was one of the few times i have ever broken my rule and gone inside a place i've delivered to, because they asked if i could place the grocery bags in a specific location in the kitchen for them to work on unloading and there was no way i was going to refuse helping.
i gripe about the poor tippers, but people can also be incredibly kind. one time i took shelter from a sudden vicious hailstorm inside an older lady's home in a trailer park, while i was in the middle of delivering her groceries. we both huddled just inside the door, watching in shock as golf-ball-sized hail swept through for about five minutes and then disappeared. she handed me an extra $10 bill on my way out the door.
when covid was at its deadliest, people would leave extra (often lysol-scented) cash tips and thank-you notes for me taped to the door or partially under the mat. i especially loved the clearly kid-drawn thank you notes with marker renderings of blobby people in masks, or trees, or rainbows. in summer of 2020 i delivered to a nice older couple who lived outside of town in the hills, and they insisted i take a huge double handful of extra disposable gloves and masks to wear while shopping - those were hard to find in stores at the time, but they wanted me to have some of their supply and wouldn't take no for an answer.
anyway. all this to say people are mostly good, or at least trying to be, despite my complaints.

i want to talk about august because i looked in the tag and i didn’t see much so lmk if i’m way off with this. YR S3 SPOILERS AHEAD
i can’t comprehend august actually “loving” erik when erik was one of his and his friends’ abusers. like what these boys, at fucking 16, went through, is insane. and i know the characters, like felice, tried to console wille saying he might have been pressured into it but WHAT THESE BOYS WENT THROUGH…
also. did august do what he did to wille and simon to get back at erik in some weird way? he has to have deep rooted hatred for what was done to him. idk. the way he talked about what happened these two times he did, it was so obvious he has a lot of trauma from it.
i didn’t think i could feel for august but i do, so much now. god he needs serious help. he for sure has mental health issues and definitely an eating disorder, his dad is gone, he is so alone tbfh. he’s like trying to crawl out of a black hole he is in but he has no support system nor anyone grown to lean on, on top of self esteem that is at zero, trying so hard to be this and do that.
idk! talk to me what do you guys feel

i only have one thought and it’s WOW yr needs more episodes. i don’t even mean this in an “omg-i-need-more-wilmon” kinda way. it’s just that lisa introduces a lot of topics and issues each season that (imo) ARE interesting and/or relevant but they’re not given the screen time needed to fully flesh them out.
as a result, viewers dismiss a lot of yr’s plot lines as rushed, underdeveloped and unnecessary when i would argue a good 95% of what lisa has written was needed in the show. (yes, even the damn horse)
imo lisa succeeded in the first season because it was mainly wilmon-centric. but, with s2, we were introduced to other stories as well. which isn’t a bad thing! it was just difficult to see other characters get the screen time viewers believed wilmon should’ve gotten, especially considering this was the point their characters/relationship needed the most development.
s3 (so far) is an example of what an amazing show yr could be with multiple characters/stories while still being wilmon-centric. but, yet again, time is not in the writing’s favour as wilmon, once again, does not get the time they deserve.
idk, a good 10-12 episodes each season would’ve been amazing. but that’s just me.

something I haven't seen people talking about is how wille and simon don't know each other that much.
when simon was talking with his friends about wille's birthday present and he didn't know anything personal to think of anything .
i think that perfectly showcased the fact that they really haven't been together for so long. before the video got leaked they just started to getting to know each other and after that they barely had any time where they could just exist together. so it makes sense that they have such a hard time communicating together because they never really had an opportunity to learn how to.
idk it's just something that stood out to me and what makes me really sad

I could be completely stupid, but if the court chef didn’t make the cake….. where did it come from? Was this event catered? Why would they have catering that the crown prince couldn’t eat at his own birthday?

ok wrong scenario, but SAME CRIME
i'm sure this has been said before, but whatever. i'm rewatching season 2 of young royals, and i have a theory that one of the guys who were whipping a first-year was erik, and the "paying damages" part was the royal family paying off the boy's family with hush money

Wille's red lights are shaped like a crown this season. The monarchy, the royal institution and his own family are massive red flags - right here.
