Coming here to rant because this is generally the place to do it.
I'm enjoying Strange New Worlds, I really am! It's got a lot of things going for it and is by far the best of the new Treks.
Here's my problem: the whole Spock/Chapel thing.
First, she's engaged. I know the writers have said they haven't forgot about Roger Corby. I have trouble wondering why she was so upset about Andrea, feels like a double standard.
Second, Spock was always portrayed as having no real interest in her. She was in love with him but it was unrequited. Even under the effect of an alien virus he showed no interest ("The Naked Time"), even under extreme duress there was nothing ("Plato's Stepchildren"). If there was anyone on that crew you could believe he was romantically attracted to, it's Uhura. Which brings me to my third point...
What happened to Spock/Uhura??? They absolutely had a spark in TOS (see "The Man Trap" and "Charlie X" for starters), I mean, the first time Spock saw Uhura after sharing his mind with a Medusan he started quoting love poetry! And besides all that there's the matter of the Kelvin-verse. Y'all, they were together for around 10 years in the Kelvin-verse. This is an alternate reality, you say? Was it really that alternate when they first got together at the Academy before they met Kirk? Aren't they basically the same characters up to that point? If two people work really, really well in one universe doesn't that technically mean they would in at least the majority of universes?
What I would have preferred SNW to do is to dig into Chapel's search for Corby, show her journey to such an extent that "What Are Little Girls Made Of" feels like a payoff, a completion to her arc.
And explore Spock/Uhura! I always thought it would be hilarious if her flirting in "The Man Trap" was echoing earlier conversations. "Why don't you tell me I'm an attractive young lady?"Sounds like a Spock pick-up line to me! "Or ask me if I've ever been in love", he already knows she has. It's just... right there. It's completely beyond me why it's ignored. If Spock is going to have a love interest make it make sense!

That Matt Murdock scene in NWH is actually hilarious. Because right after everyone had to be freaking out and just so confused. But Matt is just trying to act like that did not just happen. He's just trying to bury the moment in legal jargon, hoping they'll just forget. His departure was probably way more awkward than anyone had planned. If he told Foggy the two likely engaged in a debate about the ethics of risking a superhuman getting hit in the face with a brick if said superhuman is only a kid.
Also, the fact that Peter didn't pursue this because this actually wasn't the weirdest thing to happen to him that week.

But how amazing would Sophie/Eliot be in Redemption season 2? Having it start out with them finally acknowledging their attraction to one another (100% canon thanks to “The Rashomon Job”!),and speculate how differently things might’ve turned out if Nate wasn’t there. Then it grows.
But they keep it secret, at least at first. (although I do like to think that Harry finds out somehow is all like “oh hey, I didn’t know you two were a thing, that’s great!” and Eliot threatens to do something very unpleasant to him if he tells anyone). Parker and Hardison wouldn't understand. Sophie and Eliot are both on board with keeping the relationship to themselves for a while until Sophie finally tries to convince Eliot that the rest of the team has to find out some time. It takes him quite a while to relent.
Eliot’s whole problem with Parker and Hardison knowing is that they’ll make it weird, and that’s exactly what they do. Hardison is thoroughly grossed out, he sees Sophie as a mother figure and Eliot as a brother so... that’s a no for him. Meanwhile Parker hates change so much and this, this is a lot to take in. Sophie and Eliot are exasperated by their initial reactions. (I don’t feel like Breanna has any strong feelings on the subject, she mostly just sits back and watches the fireworks while Harry looks over at her and says “yeah, I already knew”, all proud like).
So it’s a weird and uncomfortable transition but they agree to take it slow. Sophie and Eliot limit the PDA and pet names at first to give Parker and Hardison time to get used to the idea. Which they do eventually. They’re not blind, they can see how much Sophie and Eliot care for and love each other and they love them enough to want to see them happy with each other.
And they are. After everything both of them have been through and everything they’ve lost... they deserve to have a mature, stable relationship with someone who understands them, accepts them, and will always be there for them.
I don’t know if this relationship is even on the writers’ radar, I doubt it, but one can dream...

Okay, so Eliot really wants to find someone who he can trust and accepts him as he is while knowing and being cool with everything about him and Sophie is finally ready to move past Nate... Y’all, you’re standing right in front of each other. Make this happen!

Okay, there should really be more hype for Spuhura right now. They cast Cadet Nyota Uhura alongside Lt. Spock in Strange New Worlds! And, in case anyone missed it, one of the producers began talking about “exploring certain relationships that we thought we got a preview of but they never followed through with”. Probably talking about how “The Man Trap” hinted at Spock/Uhura but nothing happened because the ‘60s were stupid. In response to this Ethan Peck said “Spock’s feelings of love and affection”.
Y’all. I think we’re getting Spuhura. Canon, prime Spuhura. I’m so excited!!
I’m a little nervous because Christine Chapel is also there, but at this point in the timeline she should be involved with Roger Corby and shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, with everything that happened in the movies, and in TOS, they can’t not address this. It’s gonna happen.

Absolutely never getting over the fact that “The Rashomon Job” made it 100% canon that Sophie and Eliot are both very attracted to each other.
In her version she sees this “Dr. Abernathy” as a very handsome, articulate man. I definitely think that Eliot actually used that line “I like to look at beautiful things...” line because for one, he really is that smooth, and second, Sophie would remember a line like that. And that look she gives him... She's definitely wondering what he’s doing after the party.
And his version, what’s the first thing she says? “Well, you’re a bit of alright, ain’t you!”. Sophie was free to talk about how attracted they were to each other because the rest of the crew didn't know she was talking about Eliot, but now he’s telling it like “yeah, she was attracted to me, but I thought she was weird, man”. probably for Nate’s sake.
Then there’s Hardison’s version... So he probably exaggerated, but he could definitely see the heat coming off of the two of them. “I remember y’all, y’all were nasty”. Sophie and Eliot immediately looked called out and start denying it. Eliot tries to tell Nate “he’s lyin’, man”. Mmmhmm. We know Sophie doesn’t shy away from men she finds handsome, and Eliot is always up to flirting with a beautiful woman. These two meet up before the team is formed, what do you think is gonna happen? The actual version is likely a combination of the three (note how in Nate’s version he doesn’t even touch on it because he is NOT going there).
I especially love this because their chemistry in general is just so good. It’s beyond me why more people don’t ship them. Because it’s not just “The Rashomon Job”, it’s those scenes in “The Tap-out Job”, the whole “that’s my girl!” thing, a whole bunch of other little things.
I would bet that if Sophie hadn’t been in love with Nate Eliot would be knocking at her door. Because he did know that she was and no matter how much he may have wanted to see where it go, he would respect her and Nate and be contented just to be her friend. Of course, now that Nate is gone, who knows... The way they spoke to each other in the warehouse in “The Too Many Rembrandts Job” was so soft, so understanding, like there was just so much emotion underneath... I would love to see Eliot become a source of comfort for Sophie that grows into something more.

The A-Team/Leverage Crossover Ideas
The crossover we all needed but time robbed us of. They’re very, very similar shows. Me and my brother love both and talk about this way too much. Here’s what we’ve come up with:
We like the idea of these two crews running into each other and then trying to outdo one another, think “The Two Live Crew Job”. That’s never gonna work though. They’re both so good that they would stalemate each other forever. At some point Nate and Hannibal just keep coming up with more and more elaborate and impossible plans until the rest of their crews just stop and sit around thinking “this is ridiculous”. Sophie and Face have go to them and convince them that it would be much better to work together.
Of course, when they do combine forces they are unstoppable. I don’t know who they’re taking down, but it’d have to massive. What’s really fun to think about though is each member with their counterpart, like so:
Hitter: B.A. Baracus and Eliot Spencer. There’s an episode of The A-Team where B.A. keeps trying to beat up this one guy while the others are off doing something else but he just won’t go down. This is what fighting Eliot Spencer is like. In the initial encounter when they’re rivals these two fight but can’t beat each other. After a while they agree to take a breather and sit down and start talking all casual about mundane stuff.  When there’s a lull in the conversation Eliot asks “you ready to go again?” and B.A. is just like “yeah, I guess we should” and proceed to beat the living daylights out of each other (it’s not personal, just business)… Until Nate and Hannibal call a truce to which Eliot and B.A. get very annoyed and are like “you couldn’t have said that an hour ago?!”. They both sit through the first joint team meeting seething while icing various body parts. After the team-up they take on a small army, and each keeps score to see who can knock-out the most bad guys.
Hacker: Alec Hardison and Frankie Santana. So, the A-Team didn’t have a hacker, but Santana (go watch season 5 if you don’t remember him) is closest thing, and will fill that role for the purpose of this crossover. Unfortunately, this means we can’t really compare their skills, but I can say that they’d get along great, which is wonderful because Hardison needs a hacker friend.
Grifter: Faceman Peck and Sophie Devereaux. This has to be my favorite pairing. They figure out the other is a grifter in like 0.0004 seconds but keep playing the game anyway. And when they join forces... I have a clear image of Face in a white 3-piece suit with a black bowtie and Sophie in a beautiful white dress with gold jewelry walking into a fancy gala being like Sophie: “you take the women,  I’ll take the men.” Face: “Let’s do it.” By the time they’re done every millionaire in the place has been picked clean. They’re having a lot of fun seeing who got the biggest haul “I got $20 million!” “I got a yacht!” “They’re naming a building after me!” Until Nate and Hannibal tell them to give it back and come on. There is much sighing, groaning, and rolling of eyes.
Wildcard: Parker and H.M. Murdock. Yeah, so Murdock is not a thief and Parker is not a pilot, but I think “wildcard” sums them up nicely. To be honest, I don’t have the imagination to figure out what these two would get up to. I know that Parker would 100% go along with whatever Murdock has going on whether it be one of his weird organizations or his French documentary (Parker: “you’re ruining the shot, Hardison!” Hardison: “what? Babe, the man doesn’t even have a camera!” Parker: “ugh, now we have to do it all over again!”). At some point Parker definitely repels off of Murdock’s helicopter.
Mastermind: Nate Ford and Hannibal Smith. They get on each other’s nerves at first, both very competitive but equally matched. Thank goodness for grifters who can talk some sense into them. Once they start to work together they actually find they enjoy it and are impressed by the other. This episode ends with Hannibal lighting a cigar and Nate pouring a drink, Hannibal delivers his famous line “I love it when a plan comes together”, then Hannibal gives Nate the cigar at the same time Nate slides the drink over to Hannibal. Fade to black.
Thing is, other combinations are fun, too.
Sophie and Hannibal would discuss acting and argue about whether theater or movies are better.
Hardison and B.A. would start talking about the cool things they’ve invented for their teams but then it just becomes a deep discussion about the love they have for their vans. B.A. is secretly inspired to name his van ala Lucille, he tells no one. Murdock somehow knows anyway.
Eliot and Face would talk pick-up lines and sports cars and the like.
Santana thinks Murdock is a lot of fun and Parker would be no different. He’d enjoy learning thieving and Parker loves to teach it.
This leaves Murdock and Nate... While these two have next to nothing in common there are few things more funny than a confused/annoyed Nate and Murdock is definitely the person to provoke such a response.
Seriously though, have you ever just watched The A-Team and saw a scene and was like “if you put Leverage characters here instead nothing would change”? If I had a time machine I would be wildly irresponsible and make this happen, which is probably why I don’t have one...

Stargate/Leverage Crossover Ideas
I’m surprised I never see more fics/ficlets/prompts/just plain posts about these two universes. They’re canonically connected! (There are Stargate symbols on the wall in Lattimer’s vault in “The Last Dam Job”, the producers confirm it too). It’s actually the main reason I started watching Leverage and my need for a crossover has only grown since. Here’s a few thoughts I’ve had:
I 100% believe that Eliot was a member of an SG team. When Aimee said “it’s like you dropped off the face of the earth”, well, he did. They only take the best of the best and that’s Eliot. He’s fully aware of the existence of the Stargate program and aliens, etc.
While serving there he got involved with Maybourne’s team, he thought it was in the best interest of his country. He was one of the very few who didn’t get caught. I like to think he still has a few souvenirs from his time off-world, several highly classified things he really shouldn’t have. I don’t believe he left the base empty-handed. It’d make sense if he had a Goa’uld healing device, but that would mean at some point he ended up with naquadah in his blood, which given all the crazy things that have happened to him in his life wouldn’t be too surprising, but that’s a whole different story...
Eliot never mentions any of this to the rest of the team, not only would this put them in danger but earth being at war with ancient, parasitical aliens is pretty heavy knowledge. This is a lot of fun when SG-1 shows up...
In a crossover with SG-1 and the OG Leverage for me it would have to consist of Cameron Mitchell (the timeline puts it after O’Neill was promoted), Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson, and Teal’c. I can’t figure out a scenario where Vala is included and doesn’t let it slip to the Leverage crew that aliens and spae travel are a thing.
There are two scenarios in which I can think of where these two would meet: First, the Leverage crew uncover something in a job that Eliot recognizes as alien (either an artifact, or maybe even a Goa’uld, that’d be fascinating if he did have naquadah and was able to spot the Goa’uld), he tries to deal with it without letting the team know but finally has to tell Nate they need to call the Air Force, it takes a lot of convincing especially since he can’t actually say why. Second, SG-1 shows up to a job the Leverage crew is already doing. Eliot recognizes them, they recognize him. Sam might even pull her gun. He gets them away from the Leverage crew to see what’s going on, meanwhile Hardison is running their faces through one of his ID programs and now everyone is wondering why Eliot is talking to “two USAF colonels, some loser who should be on Ancient Aliens, and some guy who... doesn’t exist?”.
Whatever the case, it’s inevitable that these two have to work together. Only thing is, the Leverage crew can’t know SG-1 is here because aliens and SG-1 can't know that the Leverage crew is here because crime. The only one who can and does know everything is Eliot, who is the constant go-between for both of these teams, and also very tired. He definitely knows the Goa’uld language and uses it to talk to Daniel and Teal’c about the more... classified details of the job when the others are around. Yet again Hardison is confused when he tries to figure out what they’re speaking only to find out that it doesn’t exist.
Parker is strangely good at guessing things. She immediately 100% believes that Teal’c is an alien. Nate, Sophie, and Hardison assure her he can’t be, even though they’re not completely sure themselves, this whole thing is too weird.
I can’t really figure out the rest of it, which is why I’m writing it this way instead of in an actual fic, but this is... something. Not sure what. This is really the most realistic version I’ve thought up. Headcannon where the Leverage crew actually do find out include (this is not any specific sequence or headcannon, just ideas):
The crew ends up on a small ship (maybe Eliot used rings to get them out of a dangerous situation or something) and Hardison and Sophie are visibly and audibly freaking out. Nate is trying to remain calm and failing, it’s not as intense as Hardison and Sophie, but he’s definitely freaked out. Eliot, of course, just rolls his eyes and yells at them to calm down as he goes to figure out the controls. Space ain’t nothing when you’ve been there hundreds of times. Then there’s Parker... Her reaction is basically to look out a window, smile, and call it “Cool!”. Everyone is a little taken aback by how she can just be okay with this?
Upon finding out about aliens and space travel Hardison is excited, terrified, and absolutely furious at Eliot for never telling him about it. There’s a headcannon I have of those two somehow getting transported to another planet and not knowing it at first and trying to figure out where they are. It takes Eliot a while to convince Hardison that they’re on another planet, because “yeah, it looks like Canada, that’s just what alien planets look like!”.
Sophie trying to grift aliens... The game has changed and she is loving it! A whole new universe of challenges. Seeing that would be a thing of beauty.
All of it just causes Nate to drink more, unfortunately. It’s a lot to take in. But if Eliot had to tell just one member of the team about it (both to stop them from asking him to explain what’s going on and why can’t he tell them? and to convince them of the amount of danger they’re all in) it’d be Nate. He’d come away from that conversation very visibly shaken and tell the crew that Eliot’s right, they don’t need to know, at which point they accept it and back off.
Parker handles any strange situation well, so aliens are no big deal. I bet at one point someone (not Eliot) brings up Atlantis and she theorizes that “it’s probably actually a spaceship that flew off to another galaxy!”. Nate, Sophie, and Hardison just rolls their eyes or shoot her a weird look or something because what a stretch! But Eliot nearly chokes on his drink! He has to regain his cool really quickly because now everyone is looking at him, but how can she possibly know that?? He wonders if she ever stole classified material, but nope, Parker just made the most random guess possible and nailed it because Parker.
OH! And one more thing! One night in Nate’s apartment when they’re all getting ready for dinner Hardison has it on this weird cheesy scifi show and  is all like “look at this garbage!”, Eliot takes a look and is like “wait, what??” and sits down and starts watching. Dinner is now going to be late because this is hilarious! It gets canceled after one episode but he makes sure to catch the TV movie as soon as it airs. This is how Eliot Spencer became a “Wormhole X-Treme” fan and no one has a clue why.
If anyone else has a Stargate/Leverage headcannon, please, please, please share it!! Charater interactions, different senarios, ANYTHING! And let’s all hope that, even though Stargate hasn’t been around for a while, Leverage Redemption will throw us fathful fans a bone with some kind of reference!

Some Janeway & Tuvok Headcanons
Because they are one of my favorite Trek friendships.
While it’s stated that Janeway has rarely visited Tuvok’s quarters, the same cannot be said for his house on Vulcan. She visited many times and hung around with his family. She even stayed for several days at a time before. She woke up before sunrise and prepared breakfast, as is the Vulcan custom, only once. Because of her lack of cooking abilities, she was asked politely to never do so again.
Janeway definitely took T’Pel and Asil on a girl’s day out.
Despite the fact that Tuvok’s children are either as old or older than Janeway she still tries to get them to call her “Aunt Kathryn”. They refuse as it would be illogical since she is not, in fact, their father’s sister.
When Janeway was first asked to dinner by Mark she was so nervous about it that she begged Tuvok and T’Pel to make it a double date. they agreed. After the two were engaged Janeway decided another double date was in order to celebrate. This kind of thing sort of became a tradition because after Voyager’s return to the Alpha Quadrant  Tuvok suggested that they do same, only this Janeway’s date would be Chakotay.
When Janeway found out about Tom and Harry messing with Tuvok’s holoprograms she immediately got on to them. It wasn’t pretty. And though Tuvok found it unnecessary he received two very sincere apologies from Mr. Paris and Mr. Kim.
Tuvok used to call Janeway by her first name, right up until she became captain, he then deemed it inappropriate. The exception was not long after Voyager’s return when he was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchild that he said to her “thank you, Kathryn, for keeping your promise”.

What I Wanted from Disco S2
Two words: Prank. War.
It starts out as some harmless fun between two crew members (whoever you like, but one was probably Tilly) and escalated until the whole bridge crew has formed two teams.
Stamets doesn’t join in because it’s childish and there is actual work to do. But then he comes across one team trying to pull off a prank and he keeps telling them that the way they’re doing it is never going to work and eventually gets annoyed and just fixes it himself. It works perfectly. When someone asks “what do we do next?” it's Stamets that says “I have an idea...”
The biggest problem is Michael. She is very hard to fool. She can usually sense when someone is about to pull something. They try for days until finally someone gets her with an elaborate and technical prank (not really sure what kind of prank you could even pull on a starship, honestly, so just go with me here). Both teams ask each other who did it and no one can claim it. But Michael knows. Spock. While he had not been asked to join the game he had heard of the plan to get Michael and being a sibling knew exactly what to do. After this Michael declares “it’s on”. No sister in history has been pranked by her little brother and not tried to get him back.
Pike is fine with all this, he even laughs at a few of the gags, but then enough is enough. He calls them all to the ready room and informs them of how disappointed he is in them, how he plans to leave a formal reprimand in each of their files, some of them may even be demoted. Everyone just stands in stunned silence until he smiles and says “the captains gotta have the last laugh. But seriously, lay off the practical jokes.” There’s a collective sigh of relief.
The clear winner was whichever team ended up with Reno.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some NON-ROMANTIC Star Trek fics. I enjoy a good romance story but I’m wanting something different. Whether it be the crew/family having fun or an individual character piece. This is an extremely broad request. I’ll take recommendations from any series, I love them all.
Thanks, y’all.

Oh, but there was a very clever, and rather tragic, direct reference to that book from “A Piece of the Action”.
If you recall it was the starship Horizon that crashed on Sigma Iotia II and the crew was responsible for the cultural contamination over 100 years earlier. Well, when ensign Travis Mayweather goes home to his family’s ship, the ECS Horizon, in the episode by the same name, “Chicago Mobs of the Twenties” is seen sitting on the bookshelf in his quarters.

(the screencap is a bit blurry, but I promise it’s the same one)
They had the perfect opportunity and they took it.
*DS9 crew enters Vic’s Lounge to find Vic relaxing and reading the book Hotel Royale*
Vic: “Any of you guys ever read this garbage?”
Worf: *Having horrible flashbacks* “…yes.” *O’Brien laughs in the background*

Rewatching DS9 season 7 makes me realize just how much happier Kira is when she’s with Odo. I think she smiles more in this season than any other. It’s adorable.
“I’m glad to see you can still smile.” “Only when I’m with you.”
(from season 6, right before they were together but still relevant)

It’s just as well that the DS9 crew was the main one fighting the Dominion War. They are the ultimate Crew-You-Do-Not-Want-To-Mess-With. You have:
Sisko: Former captain of the academy wrestling team, and I mean, he’s Benjamin Sisko.
Kira: Former resistance fighter, resourceful and merciless, with a legendary temper.
O’Brien: Has been in 235+ combat encounters during his 20+ years of service.
Dax: A Klingon martial artist with lifetimes of combat experience.
Worf: A Klingon warrior with at least a decade of Starfleet combat training.
Bashir: A human with genetically enhanced reflexes, hand/eye coordination, and strength and speed comparable to that of a Vulcan along with incredible intelligence.
Odo: A Changeling who doesn’t even need a phaser because he can shapeshift into literally anything, also best detective in the quadrant.
Quark: Has killed 3 Jem’Hadar and 1 Klingon warrior, also apparently fended off an entire ship of Ferengi food critics.

Watching “Spectre of the Gun” and while Spock claims to “pride himself on his knowledge of earth history” I’m not convinced he just read a history book. I prefer to believe that whenever Sarek was away Amanda had movie nights with Spock and Michael. She can claim it’s for “historical research” to appease their logic, but really it’s just fun. Spock always really liked the westerns, not that he’d ever admit it. His great knowledge doesn’t come from a history professor, it comes from Clint Eastwood and the like.

Kirk: “I just can’t believe that Spock had a brother...” Uhura: “You mean you didn’t know, sir?” Kirk: “You mean you did?” Uhura: “Of course!” Scotty: “Aye, me too.” Sulu: “So did I.” Kirk: “And how exactly did all of you come by this information?” Chekov: “Simple. We asked him.” Uhura: “He has a sister, too.” Kirk: “A what?”
A conversation I imagine took place not long after Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
