Ash!! How do you go about drawing scars?? Your characters always look so nice when they have scars and wounds. I've been struggling with making my characters' scars 'blend in' and look natural. I've been looking at scar reference but it always looks off. I'm not sure what to be mindful of. Even my little scars (like tribal marking and scar patterns) looks weird and I was wondering what your secret is ;-; you're like the marking goddess.
Scars are tricky to explain but i’ll try my best. Not sure if i’ll be helpful though.
Easiest way to go about it is have a dark line of you want your scar to go or whatever.
From there you are going dark to light and blend to the skin tone. I try to make the dark not so strong and blend it so you just see it at the edges. Enough so it looks like a indent on the skin.
on the light side i like to put a very subtle lighter color at the edges just to help it stand out more or give some depth to the scar.
Naturally if your wanting to make the scar look more severe i would make the dark more stronger and spread further to the skin tone and little sharper at the edge. Here are a few other examples with lasses like erus and dahlia
I honestly dont know if this was helpful cause im not sure how to properly explain how to paint scars. Hell there probably much better examples out there too…its just how i do it i guess.

Would you have any recommendations for combining non-human facial features with a human/sapian skull shape like especially the facial features of fish
i think the simplest way to go about it is to make the skeletal structure to be more amphibian based, they provide sort of midpoint between mammalian and piscine feathers, and then just add anatomy thats more superficially fishlike on the surface. slapping fish lips and eyes onto an almost entirely human face is guaranteed to look very silly imo so there has to be some adjustmnt to the skeletal structure . also when somethng gets more of a snout, it usually looks better with the spinal attachment moved back a bit imo
so like heres some shity midpoint that superficially resembles these structures just a bit more
and on the left is a fish dude i made from it
and like if you really mean you want its skull to look very human id just suggest broadening the facial features, slit nostrils, and still giving the face a bit of a slope and small snout to accommodate the fishier features. so like yeah thats my opinion on that

A tip for blending when painting digitally: use a transition color! I quickly made this when my brother asked for art advice while I was working on a painting for my best friend. (I was watching a lot of makeup videos to pick out her gifts).
