Padmé Amidala | Refugee Disguise | Attack of the Clones
Historic inspiration
During the design process for the prequel trilogy, both the concept artists and the costume department drew heavily on historic influences. This particular gown was inspired by Russian ball gowns from around the turn of the century. The image to the far left shows Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna wearing one such dress at a ball in 1903.

Duel of the Fates - Star Wars Episode I : The Phantom Menace (1999)
Composed by John Williams
The lyrics that the choir are singing are a medieval Welsh poem called “Cad Goddeu” or “Battle of the Trees.” What they’re saying in English translates to “Under the tongue root a fight most dread, and another raging, behind, in the head.” Williams then decided to translate the words into different languages to hear which he liked best. He settled on Sanskrit. (x)
it has to be said, john williams is a big part of why star wars is so amazing. the soundtrack is so vital to the emotional reactions in the audience. kudos man.

the performance looks strangely like the meeting of sperm and egg... maybe a reminder to anakin of the family he stands to lose as he takes one of his first steps toward the dark side?
