❝ GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN … ❞ she repeated the name & she could not recall ever hearing it before . It was not a name that rung a bell … her arms crossed over her chest , head tilted to the side ever so slightly . ❝ information about WHAT ? ❞
ahsoka tries to maintain a look of neutrality. the gaze of a jedi shouldn’t betray their emotions, and yet she is no jedi. there’s a spark in deepest blue that hints at the sadness and guilt that lies within. ❝ a friend of mine. ❞ a beat passes, it feels like a lifetime. ❝ ezra bridger. he’s been missing for quite some time. ❞

SHE WAS CURIOUS , SHE REALLY WAS . She heard about her by now , Din told her about the JEDI they encountered , but in all honesty , Cara never thought that SHE would meet said Jedi too . ❝ and you’re looking for WHO again ? ❞
*:・゚✧ @tahnos liked .
she’d heard about the shock trooper from alderaan, an ally to the child she had helped on corvus. following a lead that had ultimately lead her nowhere. whether elsbeth’s information was merely outdated or false, ahsoka still hadn’t figured out. ❝ grand admiral thrawn. ❞ the name is like poison, it’s almost painful to speak. ❝ he has information i need. ❞

peacesought, satine kryze.
𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏 𝐈𝐓, a glimmer of a grin briefly flashing over her at the promise offered. satine makes a mental note to speak to obi-wan about ahsoka, to voice the recognition that even amongst the most talented padawans she’s met, ahsoka is special, wise beyond her years in a way rarely seen. (he should proud of anakin and ahsoka, satine thinks, and briefly she finds herself wishing for the same, for someone to tutor, someone to mentor.)
satine blinks in surprise and the smile that settles on her lips is very nearly shy. “you’re very kind to say so, ahsoka,” she replies softly in response, “i’ll admit, i’m not used to hearing such even from amongst my own people, much less the jedi. i…,” she exhales, brow furrowing as she struggles to choose the right words, “change frightens people, makes them cling to whatever is familiar, whatever makes them feel secure, even if it comes at great cost to others or themselves.”
gaze lifts to the city once more, teeming with life, and she finds herself reminded how fragile this peace is, that its cost was so great as to make her heart ache all these years later. “war is a terrible thing, ahsoka,” gaze drifts back to the padawan once more, eyes soft, “i am sorry that and your peers should have to come of age in it.” something in her expression shifts then, a sudden realization, and she gives a quick shake of her head, “but i apologize, this wasn’t meant to be such a somber evening, was it? i suspect you get enough lessons on morality back at the temple.” observation is punctuated by a quick week, smile turning easy once more. “even the jedi deserve a night off, now and then.”
ahsoka finds her own laugh mixing with satine’s, her mirth almost contagious. though the laugh soon dies, her smile remains. somewhat bashful, a feeling not common for the young padawan. she won’t pretend to be overly versed in the history of mandalore, but she knows enough. both learned during her lessons at the temple and taught by masters skywalker and kenobi. the latter of whose invested interest suddenly makes a lot more sense.
❝ the jedi aren’t an army -- well, they’re not supposed to be. ❞ the war has changed so much. she was always taught that the jedi were people of peace. yes, they had weapons, but they weren’t soldiers. they were only to fight when the balance of the universe was in danger. which it is, she supposes. truly, she doesn’t know much about the war. still a youngling when it broke out, and sent straight into battle. she never questioned her orders, only tried to prove she was capable of them. lips part to speak, but for once she finds she doesn’t really know what to say.
❝ don’t let master windu hear you say that. ❞ but she’s right, a break would be nice. to get her mind away from war and protocols and lessons. tonight wasn’t a night to think about her future. gaze flickers around their surroundings excitedly. luckily no one pays them any mind, for a togruta would surly stick out. suddenly her stomach rumbles, hands flying to it on instinct. wide eyes turn their gaze to the floor, a light laugh falling from her lips. ❝ sorry -- it’s been a while since i last ate. ❞

moltolavoro, anakin skywalker.
if anakin was unsure of the nature of the force here before, his padawan’s words confirm that it isn’t friendly. ❛ i’m not sure, ahsoka, but i promise you it’s not real. ❜ ahsoka is strong ; stronger that most people anakin has met. for the presence here to work against her so quickly, twist so deeply…it must be something old. very old.
ahsoka is smart, as well. anakin can tell that closing her eyes lends her something close to control ; it’s good. ❛ stay there, ahsoka. breathe. i’m going to see if i can find a way out. ❜
he moves to the right, towards the wall. he reaches out to feel along it, but stops with his hand a few centimetres away, hovering. it feels cooler, here, which seems impossible. they’re underground now, sure, but it shouldn’t be cold. and yet it is, unnervingly so. enough that anakin hisses, pulls his hand away again after only a few seconds. but if the manipulation is strong enough here…
anakin reaches out again, and doesn’t hesitate this time. instead. he pushes his hand forwards fast, closed into a fist. he doesn’t hit the wall. instead, his hand passes through. it’s freezing. he cries out, caught off-guard, and falls back, staring. ❛ ahsoka, keep your guard up. this place is wrong. ❜
it’s not real. she focuses on his words. anakin’s voice echoing over and over in her mind as eyes close. ahsoka’s essence reaching out for the force. she pictures anakin how he actually is. smooth skin marred by a scar across his eye, brown hair, and blue eyes. it helps to banish the nightmare from her eyes. though, she’s not sure she’ll ever really forget it. the sight of her master burned almost beyond recognition.
the force relinquishes it’s grip on ahsoka, and she’s pulled back to her present. when she opens her eyes again her master looks like himself again and a sigh of relief passes her lips. she watches from a distance as he investigates the cave, gaze watching him carefully. reflexes on edge, waiting for any sign of trouble.
❝ master! ❞ he cries out and she acts on instinct. hands grab the hilts of her lightsabers, but don’t ignite the blade just yet. feet carry her forward, but just as she’s about to reach her master the ground starts to shake, sending her off balance. ❝ can you feel that too? it kinda feels like -- ❞ she doesn’t get to finish, instead the ground opens up. she falls, desperately trying to maintain the grip on her sabers. not again.

rebelwove, kanan jarrus.
HE MAKES NO ATTEMPTS TO HIDE how he found out the coveted information. little did he know that disclosing the fact he was a jedi to his carer would unlock a chatty medic. and someone who seemed very willing to share stories about his favorite ‘ex’-jedi. though the smugness quickly drains from the younger man and softness takes over. she doesn’t need to finish her sentence. while alone in every sense of the word, it seemed they all lived the same lives while on the run. it would be hard enough to form bonds after being raised to do the opposite, but after knowing their people were dead? it took a long time for them to get passed that hurdle. maybe they never fully will ❝ if it makes you feel any better the first time I met hera I didn’t even see her and all I could manage was a ‘huh’ and then the second time I was still completely speechless. so I think you’ve one up me there ❞
for seventeen years she was told to focus. don’t get attached to anyone or anything. it was a hard practice to master. going against everything that was in her nature. ahsoka wanted to care. she built up connections in spite of herself. and maybe that’s what kept her grounded, compassionate, being able to put herself in others shoes. over the years she couldn’t help but wonder, had the jedis got it wrong all along? attachments weren’t bad. maybe they could have helped the order survive. but there’s no time for such what ifs. a small laugh, almost like a hum, escapes her lips at kanan’s story. ❝ if it was anyone but hera i wouldn’t believe it. ❞ to leave kanan speechless? she might have thought such a thing was impossible, if she hadn’t already met hera. ❝ you two are lucky, you know. ❞

peacesought, satine kryze.
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐅𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒, gaze lowering to her hands as a torrent of memories floods through her mind. it’d been so difficult those first few years, perhaps even more so than now, and the loss of qui-gon had shattered her. mourning, however, had been forced to be private, kept away from distrustful eyes and rumors. it would not do, after all, even for a new mandalorian at so precarious time, when so much hung in the balance, to be seen mourning a jedi. “i suspect it was not easy for master kenobi,” she finally states softly, “to lose his master so suddenly and to find himself mentoring a padawan all but immediately? a padawan he’d not chosen, no less?” gentle gaze slides to ahsoka. “he is a good man, master kenobi, even if perhaps he and i don’t always see eye to eye.”
a contented, almost dreamy hum escapes her lips at mention of peace. “yes, peace. it’s a shame, i think, that those of us that so desire it often find ourselves accused of naivete, but with time that will change.” she has to believe that, satine reminds herself, that all this chaos must eventually end. “yes, i would not be here were it not for the jedi’s commitment to peace, just as i’m sure there are many who live still thanks to your actions, ahsoka.”
satine pauses for a moment, turns and allows herself the brief thrill of tilting her hood back, even if only a few inches to see the city unobstructed. “you’re right, you know,” she inhale slowly, thoughtfully, “thank you, ahsoka, for reminding me of that. i needed to hear it. i fear i veer towards pessimism far too often lately.”
❝ i know he is. ❞ her voice is soft, thoughtful. maybe she sometimes takes master kenobi for granted. after all, she isn’t his padawan and yet he treats her almost as such. gladly letting her tag along with him and anakin, imparting his own knowledge when the situation arises. as much as she has learnt from anakin, and perhaps picked up on bad habits, she’s learnt almost as much from obi-wan too. views him not only as a friend, but a member of her family. and what a strange little family it is, too. two jedi, a clone trooper, and a padawan. yet, she wouldn’t have it any other way. ❝ don’t worry, i won’t tell him you said that. ❞
a smile blooms across ahsoka’s lips. she’s still young, relatively naive compared to the likes of her masters, but she’s learning quickly. this war is forcing her to. she’s not used to praise. at least, not without a but at the end of it. she shouldn’t let it go to her head, but she can’t help the surge of pride that rises within her. ❝ i think what you’re doing is really admirable. ❞ though maybe she doesn’t quite understand it, peace without war. maybe that’s because she’s never known anything else. trying to achieve peace without violence -- if such a thing is possible, then she knows without a doubt it’s satine who will achieve it. ❝ well, i guess it’s easy to do in times like this. everyone is scared. ❞ and not that she would admit it to anakin, but sometimes ahsoka is scared too. ❝ mandalore is lucky they have you to lead them. ❞

❝ need to . . . ❞ a garbled series of words , barely coherent . ❝ get off world . ❞ din huffs agony verging on blinding , leaving colorful spots dancing behind his eyelids . ❝ hurt - everywhere . ❞ again , helmet falls against the floor , growing still , though his breathing remains , shallow and uninterrupted . alive .
don’t panic! she’s screaming to herself. ahsoka needs to keep level head, like she was always taught. but it’s hard. hearing the pain in his voice without knowing what’s wrong -- it’s unlike anything she’s ever felt. and she needs to do something, fast, before he slips into a state that she can’t pull him back from. but she can’t do anything here. they’re too vulnerable to attack. gaze darts to the open mouth of the ship, trying to calculate how the hell to get him inside. there’s no stretcher, and dragging him up the ramp might worsen any injuries. ahsoka takes a deep breath, pulling away to stand by his side. i can do this. hands stretch out, feeling the force flowing through her. her body becoming a vessel. his body lifts, only inches, off the ground. it should be enough to get him to the ship safely.
the door closes with a third behind them, and ahsoka’s on her knees. ❝ din -- ❞ please still be with me. her hands are shaking, not just from her use of the force. it’s the helmet. the armour. she can’t do anything with the beskar steel blocking him from her. another steeling breath, shakily falling from her lips. her head ducks, closer to his helmet. the pads of her fingers trail the side of the steel, leaving a path of red in their wake. ❝ i need to take it off. ❞ her voice shakes in a way it’s never done before. ❝ it’s the only way i can help. ❞

aldereign, leia organa.
❝ they were your family too , weren’t they? ❞ voice is barely a whisper, her mind too engrossed in everything she’s just learned. she remembers her own childhood, the lies. ❝ i understand why you didn’t tell me, it’s not like this is easy for any of us. ❞ her words are meant to comfort ahsoka, but they are more for the princess than she lets on. on the death star, the presence of vader — she knew the feeling & leia is sure that he knew it too. did he know that she was his daughter as he held her back ? : as alderaan vanished before her eyes? luke can forgive him, luke can remember anakin skywalker but leia cannot. [ 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙿𝙴𝚁𝚂𝙾𝙽 𝙰𝙷𝚂𝙾𝙺𝙰 𝙺𝙽𝙴𝚆 𝙷𝙰𝚂 𝙱𝙴𝙴𝙽 𝙻𝙾𝙽𝙶 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙶𝙾𝚃𝚃𝙴𝙽, 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝚆𝙸𝚃𝙷 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙴𝙼𝙿𝙸𝚁𝙴 𝙵𝙰𝙻𝙻𝙴𝙽 𝙵𝚁𝙾𝙼 𝙼𝚈 𝙿𝙾𝚆𝙴𝚁, 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚈 𝙷𝙰𝚅𝙴 𝙰 𝙵𝚄𝚃𝚄𝚁𝙴 𝚃𝙾 𝙻𝙾𝙾𝙺 𝚃𝙾𝚆𝙰𝚁𝙳. it’s always a surprise how perceptive her niece has become. almost like she can read ahsoka’s mind. she thinks of all the times anakin was there for her, by her side with a comforting hand on her shoulder. he was truly like a brother to her. teaching her the way of the word in such a way that only a brother could. and she was lucky, not many of her fellow padawans had such good relationships with their masters. she thinks of barriss offee. once a good friend, who had turned against the order in their last years. maybe ahsoka would have ended up like her, if it wasn’t for anakin. ❝ they were. anakin, obi-wan -- even your mother. they were the only family i had. ❞ until leia came along. reminded her what family felt like. eyes blink, batting away the tears that dare to pool along her waterline. it’s been so long since she’s lingered on such thoughts, having been so focused on the rebellion and her mission. in truth, it was easier to forget. or, at least, pretend to. ❝ padme would be so proud of you. ❞ one day she’ll tell leia the full story. of how padme was her guiding light in a time when ahsoka thought there was no one left. how she was the only one who fought for her and believed in her. but as always, it isn’t the time. after all, she can see the hurt she’s already caused in leia’s eyes. she reaches out as her niece turns to leave, but her hand lamely falls back to her side. ❝ i’m sure they’re missing you. ❞
