You may notice the the characters are colored slightly different. That's because while I was setting up a color set to help me pick character faster I notices the color scheme was off Is I went back to get as close as I can to the correct colors.

Yeah I try to blur the background a bit.

Every time I look at this one panel  where Zantafio is using one of Zorgulb's devices to hypnotize the 3 it makes me think of how truly scary and dangerous  Zantafio is as a villain and the implications of this moment and a scary what-if.  

Now we see from the beginning when Zanta turned to bad (Le dictateur et le champignon) he was going to shoot Spirou and Seccotine but instead he just starts monologuing classic villain mess up, but what if Zantafio intentionally just want to monologue and not shoot (yet) otherwise he would have killed them the moment he found them.

In "L'ombre du Z" he zapped Spirou but when that didn't work he shoves Spirou into a pool of piranhas after getting a punch in the face and went back to wanting to zap them again. ZANTA! it never work that fist time what made you think it would be different?!

In other albums to follow "Tora Torapa" we do see him using a gun but missing his target or maybe he did that on purpose to intimidate.  

In "Spirou et Fantasio à Moscou" Zantafio did this wild shot most likely to scare Spirou and Fantasio to stop and surrender which they did, so he can blow them up with a bomb instead rather than just taking them out and be done with them. Note how dangerously close he got to hitting them with those shots.

And no he's not terrible at shooting a gun "L'homme qui ne voulait pas mourir" shown how good he is with a gun at.  He even shot a person the moment they cut his face, a minor cut but still, the dude got mad when that happened.

Any time he uses a gun so he's kind of choosey about who he will shoot to kill or who he wants to threaten for his own means. which brings me back to this panel.

If Zantafio didn't need those Spirou and Fantasio to locate the Marsupilami and if he was a point blank true deadly no morals villain he would not hesitate to just run in there with the gun and take them all out within seconds, my god look how fast he ran into that room just to zap them and given what we've seen how good of a shot he is in the previous albums he is just downright terrifying and interesting.  

He has some morals when it comes to deadly force but maybe I'm seeing this wrong but hay any excuse to talk about Zanta is a good excuse

Did this when I was working on the Zorgulb and Zantafio scene of Zorgman- Zanta. This was used as a warm up art dump any time I open up CSP to work on the pages, but I end up finishing it.

And here it is! Hope I did ok with the translating.

Now José Luis Munuera may be joking, but last time he talked about a Zorgulb comic and I never took that seriously, and now we got three albums of Zorglub.

So it could be possible we may finally get a comic focusing on Zantafio so keep your fingers crossed. Also reading some backward is a thing.

Now we have two official Spirou artists talking about something in such depth. Yoann and now Munuera.

Based on another Idea I had for a Spirou 06 special. This takes place after the last episode of Spirou & Fantaso: Two of a Kind ”The Invisible Woman.” Fantasio visits Zantafio at the police station before he's carted off the prison. Fanta trying to reason with him to quit his life of crime and hopefully connect like cousins. But their talk is cut short by a Zorgbot barging in, zapping everyone and kidnaping Zantafio. Zantafio becomes the unlucky guest to Zorgulb. Zorglub has created a machine "Zorglhomize" it turns regular people into an army of Zorgmen but he decided to use his new invention to rehabilitated criminals and his first test subject is Zantafio. He chooses Zanta for this mostly cause wanted to see how well it works on a strong mind and to get back at Zanta for tampering with his inventions and endangering his daughter Zaoki. The way the machine works in this is the same as the book only a bit more excruciating. Ultimately it worked but later we find out it works too well a "rehabilitated" Zantafio is more dangerous than the normal Zantafio. ------------------------------------- This idea cam to me after re reading Album #15 Z comme Zorglub. And the uniform Zantafio is the very same wearing is from Album #16 L'ombre du Z.
