The Assassin and the Knight

Welp. It’s officially June 8th, so happy one year to this post and my sad, very first attempt at fanart ;-;

Now that it’s been a year of weekly practice, I am honestly so happy to see the progress I’ve made! No, it’s not crazy dramatic or anything, but it’s something, and for someone that never thought they’d get far, started pretty late in life, and was fairly overwhelmed, I feel satisfied with the development I’ve made.

I can see the progression when looking at the different things I have drawn over the past year…

It’s subtle, but my lighting and shading has improved, as well as my anatomy. I still need so much practice with backgrounds, perspective rendering, etc.., but hopefully I’ll keep learning at a steady pace. (Yes, I have drawn Bloody Crow a LOT jsknjsk).

Anyway, I made this post for Ciaran and Artorias, because it started with them. Last year, Lyilenor’s fic about them was being updated regularly, and while I’ve said it many times, it was one of the best fics I had read. The writing was so good that it inspired me to improve my own, and actually treat writing fanfiction like writing a book. Some will say you don’t need to do that, but I actually enjoy it so much that I don’t think I’ll ever go back to how I used to write.

Amazingly, Lyilenor’s fic also inspired me to finally try fan-art, so I drew a little scene from the last chapter that was posted before she disappeared without a trace. Ever since then I have been thriving off of that inspiration and drawing as much as I could. So, today I finally “redrew” my original doodle but with more of an intimate feel. It’s obviously a bit different, but hey, it’s still ✨them✨and even though I’m not a very loud shipper, I still love this pairing so much. They’re my favorite Dark Souls characters <3

So, here’s to more years of practice and hopefully more vivid improvement 🥂

An update

A few things I want to say about the project cartastenoch on IG

I'm trying to keep it to 10 letters per day, so I'm not flagged as a spam account and I can send more notifications to Tenoch so he'll hopefully see it. So if your letter isn't uploaded yet, don't worry.

From now on, any message that contains any mention at *her* will be edited. I really debated on this one, because I felt like I was censoring people, hence the reason why some of the published letters mention her, but I've realized that it can be damaging. Good thing is those letters are the less! So I'm glad I was approached at the beginning of this (thank you! @cutelatinagirl) to fix this issue.

If your letter just talks about her, I won't publish it. I'll reach out to you so you can send a new letter, though. I have to say, it hasn't happened, but just in case it happens.

A big THANK YOU. You guys have been really vulnerable and open and I really appreciate it. I really hope he does see these letters because he truly is a light in a lot of people's lives.

And thank you again! For sending your letters, spreading the word... As I'm writing this, I have 60 letters (20 of them have been published) to go. This fandom is probably the loveliest one I have been in, I've never seen people unite like this. You guys are great.

Keep spreading the word. Send your letters. Tag Tenoch as much as you can. Let's fight all the hate with some love and positivity.
