The drama that straight up will confuse the heck out of you. Really. Especially the ending that that will make you search the internet to see if you interpreted it right. It’s hilarious, yes. The acting is so well done, beyond perfect, but the storyline is a bit all over the place. Now if you can handle all that it really does have a lot of silly cute moments making the drama easy to get through. Gong Yoo is 👌 Just don’t take anything seriously, as it is a fantasy loosely base off of the movie Big I guess you could. After awhile I found myself enjoying it.

Snowdrop

"Come ho fatto a diventare qualcuno che non può stare al tuo fianco?"

Le note di pianoforte di Snowdrop mi rimarranno in testa per un po' di tempo.

Sono molto grata nei confronti di questo drama, perché ha spezzato la mia crisi che andava avanti da quasi un annetto. Benchè non sia privo di difetti che mi hanno fatta sorridere o alzare gli occhi al cielo, inserisco di prepotenza Snowdrop nella lista dei drama di cui mi sono innamorata. È lungi dall'essere perfetto, e ci sono alcune cose che non mi sono piaciute o che avrei gestito in maniera diversa, ma ci sono altre cose in questo drama che mi hanno conquistata completamente.

A partire dall’ambientazione spazio-temporale. Siamo negli anni ‘80, e se mi dai qualsiasi cosa degli anni ‘80 io sono già innamorata. E mi è piaciuta anche la scenografia: non mi sarei mai aspettata che in questo povero dormitorio femminile sarebbe successo DI TUTTO E DI PIÙ. È stato teatro di vicende a dir poco rocambolesche, trattative spericolate e colpi di scena di tutto rispetto.

Snowdrop è una serie estremamente godibile, che intrattiene molto bene e lascia più volte col fiato sospeso. È un drama serio, ma tutta la narrazione è attraversata da questa vena tragicomica che ho gradito assai.

È anche a mio parere molto ben equilibrata sia per i generi che per i personaggi. Snowdrop mischia i generi romantico, drammatico e politico in un ottimo mix, e sebbene ci siano un lead e una lead innamorati non prendono mai troppo spazio, nè loro come personaggi in sé nè la loro storia d’amore. Tutti i personaggi hanno avuto lo spazio per le loro storyline ed eventuali evoluzioni, e questo mi è piaciuto un sacco.

Un altro bel punto di forza sono stati proprio i personaggi: diversi, sfaccettati, umani, combattuti, ben caratterizzati.

Ho adorato il lead, la giovane spia Soo Ho, interpretato da un bellissimo, meraviglioso e splendido Jung Hae In. Attore che ho avuto modo di vedere già l’anno scorso in Prison Playbook e nella versione coreana de I Tre Moschettieri, ma soltanto qui ho avuto modo di apprezzarlo veramente e di innamorarmene perdutamente. ma mio marito resta sempre Xiao Zhan

Soo Ho è un personaggio sfortunato e tragico col destino già scritto. Ma non si piange addosso. È un giovane combattente e combattuto che si ritrova a reggere sulle spalle un peso ed una pressione enormi, è un ragazzo a cui vengono negate normalità e spensieratezza, è un lottatore con la faccia da cucciolo a cui vorresti dare la felicità tutte le volte che lo vedi.

Jung Hae In è stato più che convincente nei panni della spia nordcoreana, ma con quella faccia da cucciolo la vera sfida per lui sarebbe interpretare un villain. Mi piacerebbe vederlo!

Mi è piaciuta un po’ meno la lead, Young Ro. Nulla da dire sulla recitazione, secondo me la giovane Kim Ji Soo ha fatto quello che ha potuto e anche di più, e il personaggio era partito bene, ma va a mio parere troppo a scadere nella remissività nella seconda parte della serie.

Approvata comunque la storia d'amore: dolce, tragica e pervasa da un'angst presa in prestito da Romeo e Giulietta.

Nota davvero di merito per i personaggi secondari: quel mito di donna della dottoressa Kang, la caricatura di Nam Tae Il, la misteriosa direttrice Pi, l’antipatica e umana centralinista, l’agente Kang Moo e la sua presa di consapevolezza.

Che dire poi delle mogli dei politici, i loro teatrini, le loro frecciate e gli incontri con l’indovino. Pura comicità.

Mi è piaciuto il personaggio di Han Na, che ho inizialmente soprannominato la "poliziotta pazza" e che non mi irritava solo perché la prendevo sul comico. Ho poi imparato ad amarla davvero per il suo coraggio, la sua determinazione, la voglia di fare la cosa giusta, la sua rabbia, e il suo amore così acceso e sincero per Lee Kang Moo. Impulsiva e mezza pazza sì, ma anche appassionata, fragile e intrepida. Bellissimi poi i suoi mille travestimenti. Brava!

A parte la lead che è stata secondo me un po’ sprecata, i personaggi femminili di questo drama mi sono piaciuti molto!

Non ho poi parole per l’improbabilissima bromance nata tra le sparatorie di questa serie. All’inizio non la contemplavo nemmeno, poi l’ho sperata, l’ho applaudita e alla fine mi ha anche un po’ commossa. Una parte di me pensa che sia la vera storia d’amore segreta di questa serie. E poi, dopo quella scena bonus voglio lo spin-off!

Bella la musica. La soundtrack di Snowdrop è come il titolo di questo drama: dolce, poetica, triste, malinconica. Fragile come se potesse spezzarsi da un momento all'altro. Fragile ma colma di tragedia. Le note musicali di Snowdrop sono delle tristi e memorabili compagne durante il corso del drama, e tu non puoi fare altro che lasciarti accompagnare lungo quello che non è altro una sorta di Via Crucis. cit di @alessiavincenzi

Citando i difetti posso dire che sono presenti delle palesi forzature di trama, e ci sono cose che non si capisce come facciano ad accadere: è tutto molto assurdo. Ma se prendo Snowdrop come un prodotto di intrattenimento che deve regalare una bella visione allo spettatore, allora ci passo sopra a queste cose e dico che è un bel drama.

Il finale: non mi ha soddisfatta al 100% e me lo aspettavo anche, ma mi è piaciuto molto: è una delle cose che mi sono rimaste più impresse.

Assolutamente consigliato.

A me il personaggio della centralinista è piaciuto molto. Antipatica come la merda, ma trovo che sia un personaggio scritto bene: l’ho trovata molto umana nei suoi difetti, nella sua invidia, la sua rabbia, il suo senso di inferiorità, il suo provare a salvarsi in tutti i modi, anche i più disperati. Sono cose molto umane che ci stanno, quello che non ci sta è come la signorina si salvi in corner con un voltafaccia (l’ennesimo!) dell’ultimo minuto. Diciamo che non mi è piaciuto proprio tantissimo vederla tutta fiera nel finale a dirigere il dormitorio con la direttrice Pi (a cui cinque minuti prima aveva giurato rancore eterno... ehm, bipolarismo?), senza che sia stata punita in alcun modo per tutte le sue meschinità. Perché NO, la storia tragica della sorella non può valere come punizione.

Non ho mai pensato che la povera cuoca fosse una spia. Povera donna! Non era una spia, era solo tanto traumatizzata, talmente tanto da scambiare per suo figlio il Compagno Yoo. E lui, tanto duro ed orgoglioso, riesce a farsi intenerire e a chiamarla “mamma”. Troppo tenero!

Ho invece sospettato del vecchio guardiano dal momento in cui il figlio dice una frase del tipo “tu non sai chi è quell’uomo”. Da quel momento non mi sono più fidata del vecchietto tanto gentile e con la gamba malata. Oscar alla recitazione per quest’uomo!

Troppo triste la morte dei due compagni del lead, uccisi al porto a sangue freddo e in due secondi. Che amarezza!

Io ho respirato nell’aria la morte del lead fin dall’inizio della serie. Non è che avessi dei motivi validi su cui basarmi, era un sospetto e una sensazione dati dal tipo di personaggio e la vita in cui era incastrato. Poi ho visto la scena in cui Soo Ho inizia una registrazione sulla cassetta ma non ce la fanno sentire, e ho preso quel momento come la sua condanna a morte: mi sono detta che quella sarebbe stata la cassetta che avrebbe fatto ascoltare alla lead dopo che lui sarebbe morto. Ed è stato proprio così! Ma questo non mi ha impedito di piangere disperatamente durante la sequenza straziante della sua morte.

La scena del ballo mi è piaciuta un sacco! Invece del classico valzer sentimentale, hanno virato su una canzone più scatenata ma senza far perdere il romanticismo ai due lead, che hanno ballato tra chimica e sorrisi nei vari luoghi in cui avevano passato del tempo assieme. Bella!

This is a long haul one. Fifty episodes long. Is it worth it? Well maybe sorta, it depends on if you’re a big family drama fan I would say yes. It’s a bit draggy and is very melodramatic at times. It was made in 2012 so some of the scenes feel a tiny bit dated too (can’t believe we’re in 2022 already ugh) I honestly mostly watched for Park Hae Jin who’s storyline (Lee Sang Woo) felt less melodramatic and more on the romcom side. 🤷‍♀️ This one is a mixed bag for me since I usually love family dramas.

2020 K-Dramas Ratings

These K-dramas were dramas I watched this year so far. Not all were released this year. Rating them from least to most favorite. I struggled so much to not rank these and not have multiple ties as well. (*crying emoji*)

8. Where Your Eyes Linger (Series)

This BL (boy love) drama focuses on two best friends, Tae Joo and Kang Gook, an heir to a family run business conglomerate and his bodyguard. Under the strict and constant eye of Tae Joo’s father, they start to realize jealousy and constant tension is the result of feelings the two have subconsciously developed for each other. The drama was so short. I wished there was more story development and build up for the two male leads characters. But they didn’t fail to deliver that tension of their fiery romance on screen for the short drama. Drama has also been recently made into a movie as well.

7. Melting Me Softly

This romantic comedy shows that the feelings love can bring can raise our body temperatures to detrimental levels. At least for Go Mi Ran and Ma Dong Chan that is. In 1999 the two participate in a frozen human cryongenic experiment that was supposed to last twenty-four hours but intead lasts for twenty years. The two then have to continue where they left off and adapt to lives in a completely new age while also trying to remain healthy with abnormal body temperatures. Falling in love of course, doesn’t help. The plot to this drama I felt like could easily have been messed up, but the delivery was the best it could’ve been. Lots of funny moments with just as many cute scenes. Also for my fellow Ji Chang Wook fangirls, the steamy kissing scene definitely won’t disappoint. (*wink*. With the main lead at least. *double wink*).

6. Sweet Munchies

If you couldn’t taste the bittersweet flavor of a third-wheel looking at the gif above then lucky for you, you’ve never had to be one. A Jin a PD director, Jin Sung a talented chef, and Tae Wan a famous fashion designer all fall into an awkward love triangle while working together on a show called “Sweet Munchies”. A Jin seeks a gay chef after finally getting an oppurtunity to direct her own show. In order to help her and due to financial issues Jin Sung lies about his sexuality to be a part of the show. He doesn’t realize though how his lie affects lots of people of around him, and lots of drama and tension ensues. Tae Wan hands down is my favorite character in this show due to his story and performance in the drama. Maybe even one of my favorite kdrama characters in general.

5. One Spring Night

A librarian and a pharmacist develop feelings for each other among circumstances where there are tons of factors against them. Simutaneously Jeong In tries to end her four year relationship and deal with her father. While Ji Ho fights the constant battle of doubt after a previous partner leaves him and their son. Makes you really think about the ultimate purpose of relationships and why people pursue them. Also how feelings can stem unpredictably, even when they seemingly shouldn’t.

4. 100 Days My Prince

A historical romance drama with a little bit of everything. Action packed fight scenes, romance, comedy, and Do Kyungsoo (I mean I’m not the only one who feels this way). The two leads Lee Yul and Hong Shim (what she’s commonly known as) create romance under forceful circumstances ordered by their prince not knowing they have met prior in their youth. Lee Yul also has amnesia and tries to re-discover himself only to find out, he is actally a royal prince.

3. Touch Your Heart

What happens when you have a perfectionist lawyer and a washed up actress work together in a law firm? At first you get lots of disagreements and arguments. But then you eventually see love blossom. Yoon Seo works as Jung Ruk’s secretary for three months in order for her to make her acting comeback after her career is tarrnished due to a drug scandal. We see office romance in a pure, innocent light that’ll touch your heart.

2. I’ll Visit You When the Weather is Nice

Life in Seoul isn’t great anymore. Hae Won, a cellist, comes back to her hometown for a change of pace. Working alongside Eun Seop her former classmate at his bookstore, we see into different aspects of their lives. They take us on journey of self-acceptance, rage, grief and love in this small town. But Hae Won doesn’t plan to be staying there for long. In this drama we have leads but we see perpectives from lots of characters that we can relate to and that provokes us to re-evaluate problems we may be holding on to.

1. Extra-Ordinary You

Life in Dan Oh’s eyes is perfect. Until she becomes aware that she’s an extra character in a comic book. Determined to change her fate and control her life despite what the writer has made for her, she realizes she can’t do it alone. Another extra even more insignificant than her called “Number 13″ helps her and is the only one who can change the story. But once she names him Ha Ru changes in the story don’t come with benefits, but can the two win the fight to control their own lives? One of the most refreshing kdramas out there with a unique plot and lead actors Kim Hye Yoon and Rowoon nailing their first lead roles.
