Warnings/Content: mentions of s/h.
Tumblr media
• How each member of Tokio Hotel would comfort you after finding out about your Bad coping skills 😓
Tumblr media
Tom
• At first he would get mad for not really knowing what to do.
• maybe some trust issues at first.
• but eventually he would be really understanding and try to help.
• Idk why but i think he would be really chill about it.
• lots of physical affection and silliness to try and distract you.
• Would be really defensive over you if someone were to point out or make fun of your scars (or any type of mark you would get from something)
• He would attempt at braiding your hair to keep you distracted because you kept pulling at it. but he ends up putting it into a knot and he calls Bill up (cause bills a female🥰) and Toms like "HELP OMG" so Bill unknots that shit 😙 Basically its just so funny that your not stressed anymore LOL.
Tumblr media
Gustav
• I don't think that he would pick up on it super easily so he would be a bit confused when he first finds out.
• Hes very protective of you already, but he would become even more.
• He would make you watch silly movies together to try and cheer you up.
• Would let you play with his hair (he usually swats your hand away 😒)
• Gustav DEFINITELY likes Madagascar. yall watch Madagascar and he doesnt stop qouting the zebra 💔
Tumblr media
Bill
• He would likely pick up on your behavior by himself, so he would end up talking to you to make sure you're alright.
• If he caught you in an act I think he would try to talk you through/out of it.
• Listens well and pays close attention to what you say. He would take it serously and try his best to make sure you trust him
• Would let you cry in his arms fr :(
• Would help you put on bandaids and kiss them😔 (I know That sounds really cringe but you know that you can picture it happening)
• He would be extra touchy and loving to try and comfort you when he knew you needed it to try and keep you from hurting yourself more in the future <3
• Gives you an emo makeover so you can look the part😍
• Writes a song about it :3
Tumblr media
Georg
• I feel like if Georg ever saw you pull your hair he would think your on crack but then realize your sad and feel bad. 😓
•Hold your hands
• Speaks really soft and quiet when talking to you
• He’s very reassuring and always reminds you about how much he loves you. (he just gives those vibes yk)
• Checks up on you a lot, sometimes he makes time to do so, and when he can’t he texts you a lot.
Tumblr media
y’all I am so sorry if the silly ones are out of pocket we couldn’t help ourselves😭 But srsly if any of you are ever struggling with these sorts of things I understand and am always here to talk 😘

idk, but i think it'd be pretty fun to write!! even if you don't write this, i just wanted to get this idea out there lol.
- 🦡 anon
this is the first time I’ve ever heard Radar Detector by Darwin Deez and it’s so cute! The slightly bolded lines are lyrics from the song :)
Pairing: Cc!Wilbur x Gn!Reader
Radar Detector
Tumblr media
You and I buy star maps and drive my car around Los Angeles
“No no, I think that star is this.” You point aggressively at the map, jabbing your finger at the star you’re talking about. Next to you, in the drivers seat, Wilbur squints down then looks up.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes!” You pause. “Well, no“
“Exactly.”
Reaching over the center console, you playfully shove your best friend. Ever since you’ve met Wilbur, this has become your tradition. On clear nights, driving out to find constellations on the shittiest star maps that money can buy. He claims it’s more fun if the maps suck, you claim he likes torturing you.
“Look, if that star is that one, then where is this other star?” He asks, motioning along the map. You stare up at the sky, searching for the mystery star.
“…hidden.” You decide, refusing to be wrong.
Wilbur laughs, making you grin. “It’s not hidden, it’s just not there! Because it isn’t the right star!”
“It is too!” Neither of you are quite good at finding constellations, but that doesn’t really matter. Because nothing beat the feeling of just being with him, hanging around your best friend.
“At this rate we’re never going to find Cassiopeia.” He scolds playfully. “Get to work!”
“I am trying!”
“Try harder!”
He grabs a crumpled napkin, balling it up. It was from the McDonalds the two of you had bought, drinks with fresh condensation sitting in cup holders. Wilbur throws it at you, making you bat it away before it hits you in the face.
“Why don’t you try harder? Why is it always me?” You question, stuffing the napkin under your cup.
“I think I found it, actually.”
I drive a thousand miles an hour
Laughing to yourself, opening your door and leaning against the doorframe. Wilbur stands there, hands in his pocket, grinning widely at you.
“I asked you to come over five minutes ago, Wil.” You say, looking up at him.
“Yeah.” He nods nonchalantly.
He lives over five minutes from you. Way over five minutes.
“Please tell me you didn’t speed.”
“Then I won’t.”
With the certainly of someone you’ve known like they’re the other part of you, he walks past you into your living room. With an amused smile, you shut your door behind him and follow behind him.
“What did I say about speeding?”
“That it makes me cool.”
“Wha— no!”
“Yeah.”
From the cheeky look her throws over his shoulder at you, you know he’s only trying to mess with you.
“I told you not to speed because you’ll get hurt.” You deadpan.
“I know, but you asked me to come over. Who cares how fast I go, as long as I get here?”
You scoff, but give in to his argument. Like always.
But you are always looking out for me
“Careful.” Wilbur calls out, moving his hand to the top edge of the cabinet you just ducked your head into. You pull your head back, heading his hand, smiling victoriously with a pot.
“Got it!” You declare. He takes the pot from you, carefully placing it on the stone. “I could’ve done that.” Is your protest as he fills it with exactly two cups of water.
“Bullshit. We both know you’d splash yourself and burn yourself. Which you’d be complaining about for days.” Determinedly, he crosses his arms when he turns to face you.
After a pause, you nod. It was true, you’d probably burn the shit out of yourself. “Fine. Only because you’re right.”
“Darling, I’m always right.”
With an eye roll you decide to prep the part that wouldn’t mean getting burnt. Meanwhile, Wilbur stands over the pot like a man watching paint dry.
“Having fun?” You call out.
“Loads.”
You and I go shopping and find exactly what we're looking for
Picking your way through random thrift store belts, you grab an all-black one. It’s perfect for the outfit you’ve been trying to put together, practically made for you.
Beyond the rack, Wilbur holds up a jumper. You appraise the blue fabric, trying to find any flaws that Wilbur might’ve overlooked. The two of you came with very clear goals in mind. Yours? Find a black belt. His? Jumpers. Preferably one to go with the pants he recently bought.
Nodding your opinion, you head over to him with your black belt in hand. “Looks like all of your others.” You tease.
“But this one matches my shoes.” Is his argument. You know he’d get it anyways, matching shoes or not.
“Uh-huh.” You hum, passing by him to buy the belt.
“Buying that one?” He asks you, stepping up next to you. His hand settles on your lower back, guiding you through the aisles.
“It’s perfect.” You announce. “Successful trip, really.”
“Well worth the drive.” He agrees, looking down at you. With his head angled just a bit, his eyes are only on you, despite navigating you through aisles. “And I’m paying.”
“Hell no. I can pay for my own—“
“Two dollar belt?” Wilbur raises his eyebrows. “I’m buying it.”
You and I go shopping and fall asleep inside the mattress store.
“I still can’t believe you made Tommy sleep on the floor.”
Wilbur holds open the door to the mattress store, arm above you as you head in first.
“I gave him an air mattress! The kid is not as deprived as he says, I swear.”
The whole point of this trip was to buy an extra mattress so Wilbur could house Tommy whenever. And yes, you had teased him relentlessly about how brotherly the act was.
“For the record, I don’t know how to mattress shop.” You laugh, eyes roaming over the various white beds set up. “So bringing me was useless.”
“It’s never useless to have you around.” Wilbur immediately responds. “And I’ll teach you how. First, you have to walk up to a mattress like you know what you’re doing.”
You follow as Wilbur strides up to one of the mattresses, standing over it.
“Now what?” You ask, humoring him.
“Now we try it.”
He flops backwards, spreading out over the mattress. Arms and legs comically spaced out to take up the entire space, eyes falling shut.
For a second you just stand there, looking at him with a fond smile. Despite being in a public place, he looks completely relaxed.
After a moment he opens one eye to look at you. “You joining me?”
With a careful look around to check for workers—there are none—you give in and join him on the mattress. It’s not the biggest mattress, considering Wilbur’s only looking to buy a spare, but with a few adjustments the two of you manage to make it work.
His arm loops around your shoulders, pulling you close enough for your head to rest on him. Nobody comes to stop you so you relax into the position comfortably.
“Now what?” You ask, a lift to your voice that indicates you’re teasing.
“Now we close our eyes and try it out.”
You sigh, but let your eyes flutter shut obligingly.
“Hey! What are you— no sleeping on the mattresses!”
At the unfamiliar voice, you jerk up. Completely disoriented all you do is stare at the mattress store worker. Vaguely, you’re aware of Wilbur’s arm wrapping around your waist.
“Get out!” The worker shouts, throwing his hands up in the air.
“Huh?” Wilbur murmurs. “Oh, shit.” His hand wraps around yours, tugging you off the mattress. Before you can stumble, he’s already catching you while half-dragging you out of the store. “Sorry!” He yells over his shoulder.
“Did we—“
“Fall asleep.”
We cruise the neighborhood But it's not supposed to feel this good
Leaning your head against the window, you watch the trees speeding past the outside of the car.
Wilbur, as always, is driving silently through the night. A long trip meant moments like these, where there’s nothing but peace between the two of you. Radio humming out a random song from his playlist to fill the silence.
He convinced you to go to one of his Lovejoy shows, promising he’d drive you back home “no matter the length.” So, you went. Of course you did; you’d always be there for him.
Now you’re here, half asleep, hand in his over the center console. His thumb rubs lazy circles on the back of your head, steady and reassuring.
You flick your eyes over just to watch him, steal just a look. The sight of his silhouette, hair messy from performing, makes you smile before looking out the window again.
Neither of you talk, but you know anyways.
You are a radar detector
“Careful, Wil.” You nudge him, warning lacing your words.
“Always am, love.”
He leans into you, momentarily forgetting the knife he was using to chop peppers. Then closer, until his lips brush against yours—
“You’re burning the chicken.”
“SHIT!”

Lussuria; Shinichiro Sano.
Tumblr media
cw: nsfw minors dni, porn with plot, fwb type, slow ish burn, this is so corny like not necessarily in a bad way just yk it’s corny LOL, unprotected sex, cream pie, mirror sex, slight mention of exhibition / hooking up in a car, intimate sex😞, drinking & mentions of drugs, very well there may be errors
wc: 6.4k
Shinichiro has never had a girlfriend. You weren’t really trying to change that, but shit happens.
Tumblr media
Shinichiro Sano has never had a girlfriend. You haven’t asked, other than the first initial shock response when you found out that that had never been able to bag anyone. You realize in a short time, though, that he definitely has.
Shinichiro Sano has never had a girlfriend, but he sure knows a lot about sex. For someone who plays the virgin, he’s already got a favorite position; and for someone who is ‘illiterate in the language of women’, you suspect he knows where the clit is. You realize in a short time that he definitely does.
You don’t know how it started, what confirmed the want between you but he wants you and he has you— any way he chooses.
You noticed when you first met that he has worker’s hands, a critical condition you teased him about every time you fawned over him discreetly as he worked on a bike. Despite the hefty gloves he wore when he worked, his skin cracks just a little bit and you often catch bruises forming under his nails.
“Here,” He laughs when you give it to him, grabbing the travel sized bottle of unscented lotion from your hands with a skeptical brow.
“Should I be offended?” He’s pocketing the white of his gloves, using his sleeve to wipe over his forehead, back of his forearm collecting the small build up of sweat.
“Probably. Your knuckles look like sandpaper.” You’ve built up this comfortability with him, worked up over the awkward so and so of new friendships, especially between two attractive people— and you are absolutely two attractive people. It’s casual between you two. Sometimes you show up at his shop and ask him if he wants to buy you lunch, sometimes he texts you a song he heard that was just so bad it makes his stomach hurt, sometimes you don’t talk at all. He’s easy to be around. You don’t see him more than twice a week, and he doesn’t think about you more than twice a day. It’s good.
“Let me guess,” his hands, worn and thick, move his tools back to their designated spot. “you forgot your wallet? You’re so hungry and you think you’ll positively die without a plate of okonomiyaki?” Shinichiro is ready to move past you, and you wonder if he’ll stop for a little greeting.
“Yeah, somethin’ like that.” He never breaks that barrier of intimacy with you. His movements are easy, they flow well, it’s like he doesn’t have to think before he does anything when he passes you.
“One day you’re gonna have to pay me back, y’know.” You’re glad you met Shinichiro. He’s fun, you think, and he’s simple, and he’s got nice, tired hands you get to spend a copious amount of your time looking at.
“Now you know you’re pushing it with that bullshit.” You counter, reaching over and shoving at him, holding your keys up before he can say anything. “And I’m not getting on one of your godforsaken bikes, I’ll drive.” It’s simultaneously selfish, your disdain for bikes doubling as a second to get the two of you another shelter, but you wait to think about that.
Lunch is painless. He already knew where you were going before you said it, so he had his order planned out (as well as guessing your own). You spoke to him about work and he told you all about his brother. You don’t realize when the food is gone from your plate; you don’t comprehend he’s picked up the check until he excuses himself to the restroom to wash his hands.
You’re coming to realize more and more he’s like that. He’s charismatic, absolutely, charming and something you think would make your stomach bubble and heart ache if you let yourself reflect on it for too long. He holds the door open for you when you leave, and shoves you forward a little by the small of your back when he goes after you.
You’re pathetically eager to get back to your car. There’s nothing all too special about spending time with him. It’s a good pastime, but not the real reason you show up to see him.
“I think I left something in the back seat.” It takes everything in you not to break into a shit eating smile, nodding at him patronizingly.
“Is that so?” You can’t see his hands anymore, they’re stuck somewhere in his pockets, but you visualize them, think about them when he bobs his head with a pressed smile.
“Mhm, mhm.”
“Well we better find that then,” And it’s such a lame routine it almost makes your face heat up. You open your car door, lean over and you feign searching for something he didn’t even describe, you actually think you put on a damn good performance, before he’s ruining it by shoving you into the seat, stumbling in the best he can after you.
“Oh shit, I fell.” It’s the most monotone way he could’ve said it and you burst out laughing as he shuts the door behind him. His hands grip at your hips, slender torso moving to lean over yours, eyes gleaming just a little as they look down at you. “Well, now that we’re here.”
You really like the dynamic you have with him. His lips latch onto your exposed shoulder, scraping at the skin as he immediately moves to grab at one of your breasts; massaging the tissue in his hand over your shirt. If it was anything more than this, you think you’d be in deep shit. Shinichiro seems like the type to sneak up on you like that, so you’re taking your momentary precautions, and it boosts your ego when it seems like he is, too.
Shinichiro told you from the start he has two rules when it comes to this. None of that piss fetish shit he’d heard about, and no actual sex. You blatantly agreed with the first one and didn’t question the second, even if you were apprehensive. But he’s attractive enough, and entertaining, and you figured you’d at least try it out. And you were sure as hell glad you did.
His free hand wastes no time slipping past the band of your underwear, middle finger dipping down to press against your clit intently. “You’ve been like this since you showed up to the shop, haven’t you?” There’s no world in which he’s not referencing the slick that sticks to his finger, the wet that coats his knuckles immediately. “Wouldn’t have even gotten food if it were up to you.”
It’s kind of sweet that he knew that and still went out of his way to buy you a meal. It’s a little intimate moment where you get to feel like you have a boyfriend without the stress of having a boyfriend.
He knows what he’s doing, you figured that out the first time you’d been together. And you figure it makes sense, working with his hands all day he’s bound to comprehend how to move them at least a little bit.
“I tried some of that lotion after I washed my hands, y’know.” Your breath is already shaky, but it’s challenging, handling him like more of a competition rather than a friend during your rendezvous like this.
“Oh really?” Your voice is just a little airy, just a little light, you could barely tell from your tone that his big-knuckled finger was circling you so slowly that it was actually making you angry. “Any less eczemic?”
He lifts his head from your body, moves it side to side a couple times as he chews at the slightly chapped skin on his lips.
“Hmm, I don’t know.” His tongue darts out, slobbering all over his damn mouth like a dog and it makes you wanna slap him, or suck it off. “You tell me, yeah?” And his fingers— his middle and ring, he’s not a child— sink into you without warning, base knuckle deep as they slowly scissor apart, reacquainting themselves with the velvet of your walls.
“Is this better for you, your highness?” He’s teasing you like you’ve been best pals for life, and like he’s not creating a sickening, sopping noise every time he curls his fingers up into you. You wouldn’t be surprised if the yes you’d thought in response left your lips involuntarily, but you didn’t think you were in a spot to worry about your dignity like that, not when anyone who walked by could see what he was doing to you without trying.
Tumblr media
Shinichiro is nothing if not persistent. He’s been asking you for weeks, begging and pleading and sending you dumb ass pictures about it. You get it, in a way— in some cheesy nonsensical way that you can’t think about for too long without questioning how ethical your dynamic really is. Motorcycle’s are his job, and really his life, if you think about it. Is it so bad if he wants to share that with you, in a totally platonic, not-romantic-only-sexual way?
So, you’re outside his shop— like you often are. You’ve refused tooth and nail to get on one of his bikes, but you’ll watch him work on them. You’ll listen to him talk about them; you’ll occasionally look up the make of his bike, learn up on the little shit about it, like how safe it would be to ride. He’s got a cigarette in hand, grease smudged all over his shirt.
You have a complicated relationship with his tobacco usage. Not that it’s really your place to have any thoughts about it— you argue with yourself that friends can care about other friends' health—, so you never delve too deep into the unhealthiness of it. That doesn’t save him from the lectures on his cigarette breath when he kisses you, or how bad his hands smell when he cups the apples of your cheeks.
You appreciate one thing about it, though. Moments like this, leaning back on the wood of the balcony, head turned up and neck exposed and horribly unattended as you look at the sky. He moves when the wind shifts directions, walking around you so the smoke doesn’t blow in your face.
“You ever miss it?” You ask without warning or explanation and just hope he’ll know where your head is at. He doesn’t.
“Hm?” The question leaves with the smoke and you think his skin looks really good in this light.
“Black Dragon. I mean, I’m sure you miss it but do you ever wish you were still… Y’know, runnin’ it.” You ponder if you shouldn’t have asked it almost immediately, but he covers your worry with a shake of his head.
“I’m really not a fighter,” He laughs his cigarette out, chuckling the smoke away from him. “But sometimes, yeah.” You think his eyes are really pretty, and now they’re on you and it makes you feel like you’re worth looking at.
“I think I just really miss riding with my friends, though.” You have an innuendo lined up but you let it fall short in your throat as you watch his bob, Adam's apple moving along the length of his neck. “Nothin’ beats that.” There’s a sincerity in his tone you don’t think you’ve ever seen matched. You forget how human he is, how fragile he could be in someone’s hands.
“Let’s go, then.” You assume Shinichiro loves hard. The kind of love that swallows you whole, keeps you up at night and helps you fall asleep at the same time, and you wonder if you’d want to experience it yourself.
“What?”
“I’m your friend, right? I mean it’s not the same, but you’re always dick riding me about that damn bike anyway, so let’s go.”
He’s shocked, you can tell he’s shocked, but he’s thrilled. His mouth is slightly ajar, and he puts out his cigarette instantly. You watch him consider saying something, open his mouth and close it a couple times before he gets the better of himself and he’s rushing you.
“Wait here!” It’s not like you have anywhere else you’d want to go. It doesn’t take him long, maybe two minutes, before he’s jogging back to you, colorful helmet in hand and chest adorned with a new shirt.
“Figured this would put your mind at ease.” He flips the helmet and sets it atop your head, snickering at the way it falls on your skull. “It’s Mikey’s, I assumed you got the same big ass head shape as a middle school boy.”
You don’t think about it any further until you’re on the motorcycle and it’s in motion. And you’re not enjoying it.
If he didn’t have to actually steer his hands would be on yours. Your fingers link together across his abdomen, helmeted head resting on his shoulder blade, eyes shut so tight you can feel your pulse in them.
“I hate this by the way!” Your voice is loud, yelling as if you’re not directly in his ear and he laughs, shaking you with the reverb of his chest. You don’t know if you mean it when he raises his normally still voice to tell you he’s grateful you’re finally doing this with him, and that he’s got you. He’s got you. Of course he’s got you, you’d be stupid to think anything otherwise.
You know Shinichiro loves hard because he’s got you on the back of his bike, hair unkempt in the wind. You know he loves hard at the way he ran into the back of his shop to change his shirt before you left so you wouldn’t have to press up against the one ruined by a day's work. Even if this is platonic— which it completely, clearly is, you can feel the care he harbors for you in everything. And again you’re back to the awe and shock at the fact that this guy has been single all his years on the planet, but you’re sure he’ll find a girl to change that. And you’re sure you’ll like her, too.
You’re on edge the whole ride, but you don’t fall over because of him. You chance looking at the lights of the city for just a second, breath heavy as you realize how beautiful shit looks like this. You hold onto him long after he parks until he pries your hands off him, telling you to hurry up and open your eyes. He looks a mess when you do, offering you sarcastic congratulations for surviving such a death ride and you shove at him, movements stopping when you look in front of you.
He took you to the dock. It makes your stomach twist. He’d told you about the significance of it before— how he took Izana here the first time they went out together, and the multitude of conversations he’d had here with his other brother. He’d told you once, drunk and light, about how he came here when he didn’t know what to do with himself, and how he found solace in it. It was a symbol of comfort to him, a place to bring his loved ones when the moment called for it. And here you are, shakily getting off his prized bike, standing just barely in front of the dock. You want to melt.
“I love coming here,” He’s gauging you, side eyeing you as if he’s ever been discreet. You hold your breath, he holds his, and then you create a rift in the comfort the tension was bringing.
“I know.” Shinichiro acts like it’s nothing. He carries on with his earlier conversation, talking your ear off and urging you down, dragging you by your wrist to step out in the open ocean with just a little pine and aluminum between you two and the water.
“So?” He’s looking at you expectantly, as if you know what he’s saying or you have any thought in your head other than what the fuck does it mean that he brought you to the dock? You hum, not trusting your voice without testing it out first. “The ride? Was it everything you ever dreamed?”
“If by everything I ever dreamed you mean horrible and loud, yeah it was.” It’s a little shakier than you’d like for a conversation with a buddy.
“Well make sure you don’t spare my feelings.” You bark out a laugh; he smiles afterwards. He’s close to you, it’s too much, and you remind yourself adamantly that friends are close to each other all the time.
“Hey,” He’s burning you and you want to look away but you can’t. “thanks for doin’ that. Know you didn’t want to.” You can’t say you’re welcome because he’s kissing you, but you don’t know if you would’ve been able to anyway.
His lips pull at yours and push them apart. He always takes you in completely with every little action and if it’s this good in a friendly way, you can’t imagine how he feels behind amorous intent.
You don’t know how long you spend like that, kissing on the dock like you’re little kids breaking curfew but you do it until the brisk of the air is biting at your fingers too much and he’s on the verge of being tired.
You grab the helmet off the handlebar, examining it as you look back over the place you know means so much to the boy next to you. You don’t wear it on the way back. Instead, you let the wind meld itself with your hair and you leave your trust in Shinichiro.
Tumblr media
Shinichiro wants you to go to a party with him. You didn’t take him as the rampant party-goer, but of course you say yes. He asks you if he can take his motorcycle and you say no. But, you get pretty and you get nice and you make sure you’ll look good on his arm in case you end up there by chance.
He leaves his bike in your garage, and you triple check that it’s locked. You like driving him around, mostly because you can threaten to crash the car if he says something too incomprehensibly stupid. But tonight he seems to be on his most tolerable behavior, sitting with his elbow stuck on your middle console, making sure to make you his view.
“So whose party is this?” You didn’t let yourself ask before you were on the way, scared he’d say something affiliated with his past gang and you would come up with an excuse in cowardice. But against your better judgment, when he tells you it was one of his old founding members, and he was excited to see what the hell he’d been up to, your anxiety mostly dissipated.
“You know how many people?” Your fingers fidget with the wheel as you turn your blinker on, turning when your phone tells you to, trusting your map's directions more than Shinichiro’s memory.
“Nah. I can’t imagine it’ll be a lot, though.” He was wrong. He was very wrong, he sees that now, bodies stacked to the wall. It’s loud, music and conversations and a little bit of sex swelling in the air as he offers you a boyish grin.
“My bad.” He doesn’t walk ahead of you, doesn’t step into the atmosphere until you’re ready to yourself and it’s comforting.
“It always is.”
It’s going smoother than you thought it would, but you didn’t really think it’d go bad. Shinichiro always finds a way to include you, introducing you when someone starts talking to him, slinging his arm around your shoulder when someone looks at you a little too intently, grabbing you a beer himself to make sure no one else touches anything you drink. He’s attentive, he’s arguably your best friend, and he knows what does and doesn’t make you feel safe.
It’s a while until you have a second to yourselves, but he makes sure to find the time. This guy's kitchen is excessive, but it’s hard to appreciate how pretty it is when it’s trashed like this. Shinichiro has both hands full, one gripping a half drunk beer and the other fiddling with your fingertips.
“Having fun?” He sounds like he really hopes you are, like he has to impress you over something.
“Yeah,” You take a sip of your drink, warmth stuck under your sternum. “You’re like a little celebrity here, Shin.” You almost feel bad that he’s stuck at your hip, but you push the tipsy insecurity down— he invited you here, he’d be a dick to ignore you.
His chuckle is deep, you feel it in your gut. “Little? I would say at least B-list.” He let’s go of your fingers to rub at the bones in your arm. “You’re not too bad yourself, definitely some hot eligible singles here tonight who can’t take their eyes off you.” It feels like a tipsy jab at jealousy, and your lips twitch up.
“Oh yeah, and the twenty girls calling you ‘Chiro’ all night definitely don’t want you to sneak into the bathroom and fuck ‘em.” He kisses the back of your hand.
“That’s too bad for them,” Your drink is empty now, his is, too. “I gotta ask, though,” He sets his bottle down, then takes your own and does the same. “you been thinkin’ about that, too?”
And he’s gotta be fucking dumb if he believes you haven’t.
“Well that depends,” You love the way he smells, you love the way he feels, you can’t get over the little way he’s pushed you into the counter, you’re too drunk to pretend you don’t need him. “y’think his bathroom is as dingy as the kitchen?”
His hands push into you, beer on his breath heavy on your tongue, and you know he really couldn’t care less if someone walked in and saw the two of you right now. In fact, you’re almost sure he’d pull off of you just long enough to ask if they think he’s as lucky as he does.
“Not here.” He grabs you, tugs you along and you stumble while you walk, he waves his buddies off, and he takes you to the fucking bathroom.
“‘M sure there’s a bedroom…” But he’s pushing you in, hands back on your body immediately once you’re even slightly behind a door, closed or not.
“Is it okay if—” He groans against your skin when your hand reaches down to palm at him over his jeans, and he urges the door shut with his foot. “The mirror.” He kisses the skin on your neck, right where he knows you like it. “I wanna see you in the mirror, I want you to watch.” Holy fuck. You would argue you’re both wasted, but that’s a sure stretch. You know you’re coherent enough to feel the way his cock stiffens in his pants, and how he rotates his hips forward into your hand.
If you were a good person you’d ask him about his rule. But if he wants to forget about it, you think there’s no harm if you do, too.
“Yeah, yes, that’s fine, please,” You really never have to tell him twice. He lightly hits at your thigh, gripping at your hips as he helps you sit up on the sink, positions you up and moves to stand between your legs.
“Comfortable?” You think you might love him. The second you confirm his question, he’s holding your face with both of his hands. He touches you as if you might break, like he has to hold you together himself and keep you safe and he’s looking at you the way he did on the dock again; the way he does when he thinks you’re asleep when you watch movies, the way he does when he smokes, the way he did when you were driving here. You think you might love him, and he’s looking at you as if he’s sure of it.
There’s so much to Shinichiro that you’ve kept tucked away in the back of your mind, so many little things about him you’ve made space for in your brain and you almost feel rude to have it so quickly go away with this. But, your brain turns to putty when he kisses you, hazing over your cognitive functions and pinpointing nothing but his lips, and his hands, and his cock.
“Hated watching my friends look at you like that.” His lips move against yours as he speaks, indents on his bottom one grazing over yours. “Made me wish we hadn’t come.” You can’t breathe. Because of course Shinichiro isn’t just your fucking friend, but less and less you know what he is. “Feels so stupid because you can do whatever you want.” He’s still so close, your throat feels so dry, you still taste him.
“I gotta learn how to throw a punch if we’re gonna keep up like this.” You press up into him, fully capture his mouth with yours, push the two of you together as much as you can. You drink him up, grip onto the mop of hair he’d pushed mostly flat for the night.
“If I cared to be with any of them I would be.” It’s so simple, it makes so much sense as it sits in the air between you two, because it’s harmonious in everything between you. Because if either of you wanted anything else, you definitely would’ve indulged in it by now. “I’m exactly where I want to be, Shinichiro.” You’re telling him as loud as you can ‘you’re what I want’ without saying it directly.
He seems to get the message. His hands drag over your skin, they lift at the sides of the outfit that you’re sure did its job with the reaction he’s giving you, and plant themselves on your skin, warm under his hands.
He’s touched all of you before. He’s seen the extent of your body, he memorized it the best he could the first time you showed it to him, and then some every time after. But he takes his time. He strips your top carelessly, but makes sure to place it on the counter so you wouldn’t have to put it on dirty. He makes you feel like you’re alone, like there aren’t quite likely 70 strangers in the house you’re in.
The music outside is loud, base moving against the door and setting on your exposed skin. It smells like marijuana, it feels like high school, it sounds too loud and you tune it out when he grins at you.
“Wanna call all the girls who made you jealous outside the door and let them listen?” You snort, fingers fumbling to lift at the bottom of his t-shirt.
“You’re a sicko.”
“Oh, yeah, didn’t you know? Worst of the worst,” And it’s like the funniest joke you’ve ever heard. And then the humor leaves again, and he won’t stop staring at you.
“It’s unreal how beautiful you are.” You want to shrink under his gaze; you’re actually embarrassed as if you haven’t been ‘complicated’ with him for months. “Wanted to fuck you for so long now.”
“Then why don’t you?” He’d do anything for you, so this is no different. He’s taking no time in pulling your panties down your knees from under your skirt, sliding out of his pants and boxers and all things keeping him from you.
Shinichiro feels pussy whipped and he’s not even inside you yet. He slides his cock between your folds, whispers against your neck to give him a second because he needs to touch all of you. He’s tactile, especially in learning, so he takes his time, letting the tip of his cock rub against your clit, trace the lips of your cunt, ghost over your hole that almost begs for him.
“Are you drunk?” You could cry. You might cry. You look at him, through the lust and through the party and you see him and you shake your head.
“No. You?”
“No.” And then, he pushes against you slightly, tests the waters he’s been guarding off himself since this whole thing started. Your pussy gasps for him, trying to suck in more than he’s giving you, and he can’t help but kiss you again.
It’s open mouthed and pathetic. He salivates against your tongue, whimpers into your mouth, bottoms out and let’s himself sit there for a second because not only has it been so long— it’s you.
“Hey,” It’s a stupid greeting when he’s balls deep inside you, but he punctuates it with a chaste kiss to your jaw. “can I tell you something?”
“Yeah.” Like you’d ever say no.
“I love you.” You clench around him. You can’t help but wonder what the fuck is wrong with you, but before you can respond, he snaps his hips. You wonder if he doesn’t want to hear what you have to say with how he’s rolling his hips into you. Because even if you want to, even if you’ve been waiting to tell him back, all you can form are babbles and he’s barely done anything.
You were right. Shinichiro does love hard, and he fucks it, too. One of your legs wraps around the small of his back, pulls him in closer as if he wasn’t trying to break any distance between you already. He doesn’t care about the noise your skin is making slapping against each other, he doesn’t care about the guttural groans that leave his lips, he doesn’t care about the guy who was knocking at the bathroom door briefly.
You think he only cares about you.
“You’re so perfect,” It’s gritted, comes out desperate like he’s been letting it sit on his tongue forever. “Fucking look at you.” His hand is gentle on your jaw in contrast to the way his cock bullies into your cunt, turning your head so you get an up close and personal view of yourself in the mirror.
You look fucked. And enamored. You moan out, body moving against the marble of the counter with his thrusts, eyes locking with your own.
“Shin,” You turn your head against his hand, force your view back on him as his head violates the gummy spot of your cervix in a way you genuinely think he shouldn’t be able to. “I,” It’s hard. You want to say it all at once, want to not have your voice break in a mewl or a cry, you want it to be solid. “I love you, too.”
It’s so much. You don’t know why it’s so much, but tears are forming in your eyes. “Needed you so bad,” It’s a miserable confession, but he seems to enjoy it with the way his hips stutter.
“I gotta— I gotta slow, I gotta take a break or I’m gonna—,” You shake your head, tears bubbling over your eyes, spilling out on your lower lashes, falling for him.
“No, no, no, no, please, want you to cum.” You feel juvenile, you feel like a virgin, you feel intimate. “Need your cum, Shinichiro, please.”
He’s looking at you like he doesn’t know what you mean, fingers reaching to toy with your clit as he waits for your next words on baited breath.
“Cum inside please, please! Fill me up, wanna be full, need to feel you.” He’ll do anything you fucking say. He continues his ministrations as he cums, whines your name into your skin, tells you you’re everything and more, and then you’re clenching around his cock, draining him of every drop of cum he has while you follow suit.
“Fuck!” And you’re sure everyone heard that. You’re glad everyone heard that, you want everyone who looked at you or him to know just what you were doing because this felt like something special.
He catches his breath before he pulls out, cock covered with a ring of your ambrosia and his own cum he’d fucked into you. Shinichiro wipes at the sweat on your head, following it with a soft, delayed kiss.
“Sure you’re not drunk?” You nod. So does he.
“Let me run you a shower, I’m sure he won’t care more about that than us having sex anyway.” Shinichiro washes your back that night. And once you leave the party, once you’re in your driveway, he kisses you so delicately you barely feel it.
Tumblr media
He hasn’t texted you in three days. He’s a fucking asshole and he hasn’t texted you in three days. You tried his shop once— you wouldn’t do anything more than that, you valued yourself to a higher extent, but when you got there the door was locked.
He hasn’t texted you in three days and the fucking door was locked. You feel dumb. You’re embarrassed, letting yourself get invested in something that never needed to be more than it was. You’re ashamed you thought he was talking rather than the alcohol. You’re confused because you really, genuinely thought Shinichiro was better than that.
But, you guess he’s not. Your nails are disgusting to look at, chewed in the force of an old habit you didn’t want to admit you’d indulged in. It’s upsetting, sure, but you’d move on from it. He was just a boy you’d fucked once in a stranger’s (to you, at least) bathroom. He was just a boy you were friends with, or you had been friends with, and you’re going to be fine because he’s just a boy and it’s just sex, but you can’t ignore how sick and goddamn stupid you feel.
What you two had was good before, and part of you blames yourself for somehow fucking it up. The rest of you, the more logical side of you, just thinks about how Shinichiro Sano has never had a girlfriend and there has always had to have been a reason for that. And maybe this was it.
After five days, you’re mad. You feel taken advantage of, especially when you see him in the window of his shop that you were coincidentally passing by. You know he sees you, too, but he doesn’t do anything. You come to terms with the fact that Shinichiro might not have been that sweet.
After a week, you text Shinichiro that you don’t see the point in keeping up any kind of communication. It’s pointless, seeing he hasn’t fucking reached out to you one time, but you do it anyway. You build yourself up to it, try to convince yourself you’re overreacting— and maybe you are. You’ve known him for a long time, he’s been a good friend, and you have the itch in your brain that maybe he’s just going through something. But, you press send. In less than a minute he says ‘Ok’.
You cry about him for six days after that. Then about four times a week, and then two, and then it’s just bitter.
You had a life before him, you’re sure you can form one after him. It’s been a month since the party; a month since you saw him, a month since you heard the way he laughs when someone says something that isn’t particularly funny, a month since you’d told him to shut up, a month since you felt that he loved you.
You’re getting food when you get a notification. You’re at the restaurant you always took him to, which is now harshly bittersweet, and your phone vibrates once, and then again, and then one more time.
Two images and an SMS from Shinichiro Sano.
The first photo is you. It’s from early, early on, right when you two started ‘seeing each other’ and you’d be a little off put that he took it if you weren’t so shocked. You’re laughing, head thrown back with a hand over your mouth, a copious amount of motorcycle oil seeping into your clothes. You remember that. You’d tried to sneak up on him while he was working, and he ended up getting so startled he spilt a good half the bottle. His first reaction had been about the price of the bottle, and then ‘Oh fuck! Your shirt!’. Clearly, he hadn’t been too worried if he found the time to take the picture, but it was nice.
The second photo was a screenshot. This was… Embarrassing for him. It was a google document, the words CONFESSION PLAN in red letters, big and bold. There were multiple occurrences there— different situations you and Shinichiro had been in with a big line through them, and then some extras unattended at the bottom. The last edited date on the document was a week before the party.
‘Please come to the dock. I’m sorry.’ You leave money on the table and an apology, walking to your car as fast as you can without degrading yourself with a jog.
He’s so fucking stupid. You should be a lot more mad at him than you are— or maybe you are mad and you want to tell him. Maybe you’re on your way there to yell at him face to face, make him cry and show him how it feels.
But really, you just miss him.
You get there too fast, break too many traffic violations for a man who couldn’t get his shit together for a full month just because his confession went a little haywire.
He’s not there when you are and you want to throw up. You swallow the lump in your throat, assure yourself you were just driving really fast. He’s probably caught in traffic or maybe he wrecked his bike on the way, but either way he wasn’t standing you up.
You don’t know if he deserves you waiting. You really feel dramatic. You look around, take in the area in the daytime, look at the way the ocean sparkles under the sun. You take in the way everything really is at his favorite place to see the people he loves.
And when you turn around, he’s there.
“Hey,” He says. And,
“Hey.” You say back.

Hey hey here for the matchup part of the event! Elliot, they/he. My zodiac is leo and my mbti is INTP. I really look for someone who can have an intelligent conversation with me & won’t judge me for all the weird shit I do. For the dislikes, it's the usual basis. Being faithful and trustworthy so no cheating yk that thing. Romantic matchup please!
~~~
You’ve been matched with: Atsumu Miya!
“Baby, where are you going?” “It’s 10AM, we need to get up, darling.” “Noooo, come back to bed.” Elliot chuckled as he felt Atsumu’s arms wrap around his waist, pulling him back under the blankets. It was hard not to fall back into him, knowing how comfortable it was with him. “I just want to stay in bed. All day. No moving,” he complained, throwing his leg and arm around them so they were caged for the time being. They laughed, freeing their arm so they could play with his hair for a moment or two. “You’re so whiny in the morning, ‘tsumu. Who knows how I put up with you.” He pouted, burying his face in their collarbone. “Don’t make fun of me, I'm half asleep.” As time passed in the morning, Atsumu started getting restless. Despite complaining about not wanting to get up, he was fidgeting more than usual, like he was forcing himself to stay still. “You ready to get up yet?” “No.” “You don't look it.” “Shhh.” “Why don’t I make breakfast?” “Ugh, fine...but I want kisses first.”
Okay honestly it’ll be better quality than that. I'm just bad at writing for myself lol <3
OPTIONAL: A prompt/au with that character (doesn’t have to be specific!) If you don’t have a specific au, I’ll just assume it’s the canon world. If you don’t have a prompt to give me, I’ll just come up with one.
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤:
A drabble catered towards you, written about you and your favorite character
𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞:
~~~
Hey hey can I get a drabble from your event! Elliot + they/he pronouns w/ a romantic matchup with Kuroo? Royalty au please and thank you! Age doesn't really matter
~~~
Elliot gasped as he walked into the marble-floored ballroom. Kuroo spun, running towards him with excitement. “Do you like it?” he asked excitedly. “Please say you like it. I made sure it was cleaned well so I could seem a little impressive when you got here.”
They looked at the marble floor, gold swirling around the milky white color. His eyes drifted up, staring at the stained-glass mural on the far wall, the sun shining through onto the floor. Colors danced everywhere--he finally looked up to meet Kuroo’s eyes.
He’d never been somewhere like this before. When Kuroo’s mother had married into the royal family, they’d gone a long time without seeing each other. Now that his sister was getting married, however, he was allowed to bring a guest. From what his mother had told them, the first name to come to his mind was theirs.
“This is...it’s all so fancy. I don’t know how you live here,” they mumbled, looking around the ballroom. “You're sure I won’t step on your toes?”
“Oh no, you will. I just don’t mind,” he laughed, taking his hand and leading him to the center of the floor. “You remember what I taught you before, right?”
“Mostly. And you’re leading?”
“Correct.”
Kuroo bowed, offering his hand. When Elliot handed his out, he kissed the back of it and pulled him into him. “This alright?”
He nodded, smiling up at him. “Fine, yeah. Lead the way.”
They spun and spun around the ballroom, maybe not to a beat, but Kuroo could keep one pretty well without music. They talked and laughed when they finally fell into rhythm, forgetting they were moving and being more involved with each other.
They must have been moving for several minutes when they finally slowed down, everything around them seeming to move twice as slow. They loved seeing Kuroo smiling--it was one of their favorite things in life. Seeing him smile...it meant the world to him. They felt bad that they weren’t around for more of his smiles, but at least they got to spend this time together.
“You’re staring at me,” Kuroo mumbled. Elliot suddenly realized just how close their faces were and pulled away. His face went red as he looked to the floor, running his hand through his hair.
“Sorry about that--”
He took their hand gently, using his other to tilt their chin up. “I didn’t want you to stop.”
I hope you guys enjoy this as much as i did coming up with these ideas--honestly, theyre my favorite things to do for people, so I figured this would be fun
Our Love Story | w. yk
Pairing : Lucas x Reader
Genre : Fluff, a bit of angst?
Word count : 3k+
Warning : none, too much fluff if you squint
⋆┈┈。゚❃ུ۪ ❀ུ۪ ❁ུ۪ ❃ུ۪ ❀ུ۪ ゚。┈┈⋆     ⋆┈┈。゚❃ུ۪ ❀ུ۪ ❁ུ۪ ❃ུ۪ ❀ུ۪ ゚。┈┈⋆
I never thought that I'd come to this point, I never thought that I'll ever change my mind about getting married, let alone be with a guy for a long time. I never believe in fate, or destiny, or stuff of some sort but the gods must have their own way to change my mind.
Meeting Lucas wasn't really expected, we met each other at a party because our common friend, Ten, introduced us to each other. Cliché, I thought. We hung out throughout the remainder of our college days, we enjoyed each other's company with or without our other friends. They often teased us that we'll eventually end up together, but we shrugged and laughed it off.
When we graduated, we separated ways as we all have started our own jobs, some even had to move places. It took a lot of adjustments, sleepless nights, crying, and breakdowns until I finally got the hang of it. I eventually left my first job after a few months, it wasn't working well for me, it felt like I was being held back from growing. I was lucky enough to find a job at a well-known company after a few months of searching, there, I found joy in my work. I felt more free, growth is always an option which of course, I keep on choosing. As a token of appreciation for my own hard work, I took a one week leave to have a vacation.
I was enjoying my time at the resort that I've decided to go to, it wasn't until my second day there that I happened to bump into Lucas who I soon found out was the general manager. We were happy to see each other, of course, since we lost contact when we separated ways in college as we both got caught up with work and personal life.
"You don't need to, Lucas." I declined his offer that he'll pay for all expenses I'll consume while staying, "I insist." "Lucas." He pouted when I sternly uttered his name, "Okay, I'll just give you a discount." "Okay." For the next days that I've spent there, Lucas often comes to check up on me, making sure that I was enjoying my time, even accompany me after his work hours. He doesn't change at all, physically he does, but he was the same bubbly, passionate, and caring guy that I met back in college. Running out of energy doesn't seem a part of his vocabulary, he's also still sweet as ever. On the last day, which was also his rest day, he offered me a ride to my apartment so I accepted.
For the next few months, we meet up together to hang out, even meeting up with our other friends when we have the chance. It's like it has became a constant thing for us to meet every weekend to relax, to go for a long drive and return to the city the next day. Or if we're feeling lazy, we're just gonna spend time at each other's apartments and wasting time watching movies or trying cooking different dishes. It felt like we were back to being those clueless college students, those young adults who were in the state of confusion between enjoying their youth or starting to prepare for the responsibilities that's waiting for us in the real world. It was one of those weekends where we're awake at 2AM, a random love song blasting through the speakers, loud enough for the both of us to hear without disturbing the neighbors. Lucas stood up laughing and pulled me along, his arms wrapping around my waist so I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Can I be honest with you?" He asked as we start swaying, I chuckled, "You're always honest with me, Yukhei." I answered, making him laugh lightly then licks his lips. "Well, there are things that I wasn't able to tell you…" I raised my eyebrows at him, thinking that he's not obligated to tell me everything. "The truth is…." He looked away for a moment as he cleared his throat, then, made eye contact with me after. His stare was intense, it felt like he's staring into my soul. "I'm in love with you." I felt my breath hitched, my heart beating faster than the times I have to present to the big boss of our company and the investors. "I know I shouldn't but…. I just can't help it, I thought it's just  a silly puppy love back in college but when I saw you again I just…. I just want to do everything to make you mine." A sigh escaped his lips, "but you don't have to love me back, I'm not asking you to. I just can't hold it back anymore."
"Lucas…." I don't know what to say, I was overwhelmed but I know I feel the same way, too, but my mind started to be filled with what ifs – what if it doesn't work out? What if we just end up hurting each other? What if he wants to get married when I don't want to? What if I end up breaking his heart? "It's okay, you don't have to say anything. I'm sorry for making things awkward–" "I love you too." I blurted out, fuck those what ifs, I thought, it's Lucas; every risk is worth it if it's him. "I told you–" I cut him off with a kiss, I closed my eyes when I felt him pull me closer to him as he deepened the kiss.
Just as expected, there's never a dull moment in our relationship as Lucas always had something up his sleeves. When we're not together, he often sends me messages to remind me to eat on time, to check whether I made it home safely, he even picks me up sometimes without telling me beforehand. He never made me feel like he's holding me back from growing, when I tell him that I need time for myself, he won't disturb me at all, just leaving a few text messages and just waits for me to text him again. He was patient, too understanding, it made me doubt myself – do I deserve him?
Two years into the relationship and it's like we're stronger than ever, a few petty fights now and then but it was immediately resolved, after all, he always finds a way to talk me out of it. We never really had a serious fight until the mention of marriage was brought up – he was ready to settle down, I wasn't yet. I was scared, the thought of marriage doesn't sit well with me, after witnessing how it ended up with the people around me, it made me doubt whether I could handle it if our marriage ends up that way.
We didn't talk to each other for weeks, giving each other space to think about it. Anxiety got into me, what if he leaves me? What if he decides to just find somebody else who wants to get married as much as he does? It's not that I don't want to, I'm just scared. But it's Lucas. It's him, the man who has so much love to give, the man who puts up with me even at the times that I was hard to understand, the man who was patient enough to deal with me when I snap at him when I'm frustrated, the man who always root for me when I decide to try something new, the one who cheers me up when I'm at my lowest, the one who chooses me over anything anytime. He'll change, the other part of me thought, but fuck it, it's Lucas, there's no reason to doubt him.
When I made up my mind, I let a few more days to pass to make sure that I'll not change my decision before sending him a text. It's Friday so Lucas came as soon as he's done with his shift, it was awkward while we're eating dinner, after all, we didn't talked for weeks. "Uh…. what is it that you want to talk about?" He asked when I took the space next to him on the couch, it felt like there was a lump in my throat. "Uh…" I cleared my throat and turned my body to face him and he does the same, looking at me intently as he waits for me to continue. "About the wedding…" it was his turn to clear his throat, he must be nervous, thinking that I might break up with him as he knows why I don't like the thought of being married. "What about it?" "Lucas…. let's do it, let's get married." His eyes widened at my words, clearly shocked. "W-What?" "I said let's get married?" I repeated, "What? Why? If you're pressured or anything, don't make rash decisions, you don't need to. It's okay with me if you don't want to get married…" He said, sadness was evident in his voice, making me sigh and move closer to him and put my hands on the sides of his face, my thumbs are caressing his cheeks. "I do want to get married, I know I'm scared but it's you, Lucas, there's no reason to be scared, right?" His eyes softened and a smile appeared on his lips, "Are you sure?" He asked, I smiled at him and nodded. Then, he takes out something from his pocket and it was a velvet ring box. Lucas takes my hand and puts it on my ring finger, then looks at me again and said, "I'll never make you regret your decision."
Time flies, the preparations were stressful but fun, our families seem like they're more excited than us. Our college friends showered us with an endless amount of teasing, saying that we should've believed their words. During the last week before our wedding, we were too busy to see each other, our families didn't even let us see each other the night before the wedding day, a belief of some sort.
And there was it, the wedding program at the church ended before our eyes after exchanging vows, and of course, the reception was a whole different story. Laughter and tears filled the program as our parents gave their speech, telling our embarrassing stories, giving us advice, telling us how scary marriage is but we can work it out. Even our closest friends gave their own speech, which made the reception much more enjoyable with our college stories. Just when I thought it was done, the host, our friend Johnny, suddenly called him.
"So Lucas, I heard you have a surprise for your bride?" Johnny asked, Lucas laughed and nodded, taking out a paper from the pocket of his suit. "Ah yes, I hope everyone is still awake for another round of speech." And everyone erupted into laughter, Johnny left him to give him his spotlight. I couldn't leave my eyes off of him, just what does he has in sleeves this time?
"So uh, love, hello." He started, "Oh wow, I never thought it would be this hard to give a speech in your own wedding." He joked, making me laugh, "There you go, don't be too nervous, it's not like I'm gonna expose you or something, or maybe I will?" He joked again, making me jokingly roll my eyes at him. "It's been what? 7 years? Yeah, 7 years since we first met each other at the party Ten held. Cliché, that's what you told me two years ago when we decided to date each other, the way we met. At first, it was just pure friendship for us, right? We hang out, study together, but do we, really?" Everyone laughs at his joke, "No I'm kidding, she's very studious, she doesn't like being disturbed back then, right?" He said and pretended to hand me the mic so I just nodded. "I've seen her more than a handful of times breaking down back then because of the deadlines, whenever I receive a text from her asking me if I want to go to get some ice cream, I just know she's stressed out. But I admire how she managed to finish every one of it few days before the deadline, and at the end, the lowest she got was like 96? As far as I could remember." My heart felt so warm, he always remembers the smallest details. "Our friends always tease us, saying that we should just date each other, it was a joke at first, but then I realized…. I was having a crush on her, I was able to realize it when we took a late night drive to the beach. Again, this is a cliché love story." He stopped for a moment then licked his lips, "while we're sitting on the sand and I turn my head to look at her while her eyes are closed, I felt peace, contentment."
"But I never made a move at her, we still remained buddies that got each other when we're down or not. I thought it's just silly, little puppy love, but when graduation day came, it felt bittersweet knowing that we might never see each other again." "Boo!" Our friends jokingly whined at him, "I did wait for her to message me again after graduating, but we're adults, we have our own stuff to deal with so eventually, I just shrugged it off and just let life be. If we're meant to be together, then fate will do something. So I guess you're all curious how we met again?" He asked, and they answered yes in unison, making him grin. "So, you all know that I'm working at a resort, and she happened to be there for a one week vacation, and we happened to bump to each other while she was looking for the bar." "She's such an alcoholic." I heard my dad said which made the people laugh again. "Since then, we started hanging out again during weekends just like the old days until one night, I couldn't take it anymore and just confessed."
"Our relationship was fun, a healthy one they said, but you know what tested us? Marriage." Lucas stopped and nodded, "Yes, marriage. It's supposed to be a fun topic for couples, right? Well, not for her, at least. You see, my lovely wife here is scared of marriage due to reasons I can't disclose." He chuckled, "I don't know what changed her mind, but I'm glad she did, but even if she didn't, I'll still stay with her nonetheless." He looked at me then smiled sweetly, "then and there, I proposed to her and promised that I won't make her regret her decision." At that moment, I started tearing up. "I know I may not be the perfect boyfriend, or husband, but for her, I'll do everything I can just so she wouldn't get hurt, let alone get bitten by a mosquito." He joked once again, "She's always been the confident and independent one, there are days that we don't talk to each other because she needed her space and I was like okay, I needed mine too, like we're not really all over each other. And that's what I love about her, she doesn't need to talk to me everyday just so she could say that I love her, she doesn't ask for anything at all so I'm just yeah, fuck it, I'm just gonna surprise her." He chuckles, "She's really stubborn, like if I said I'm gonna pay for our dinner, she'll say she's gonna pay for hers, since then, I started paying in secret before we eat just so she couldn't do anything about it."
"She's not the showy type, a total opposite of me, she barely posts anything about us, but I never once doubt that because that's just how she is – she likes keeping things private, we go on a date? Okay, one picture, we go for a vacation? Okay, a few of it and then that's just it." I laugh at his description because that's how I really am, "And most of all, she's fragile, I had to learn that the hard way. She's strong yet so fragile, but she can't show it, so I had to teach her that it's okay to be fragile sometimes, she has me, she can vent to me anytime of the day, she can cry in my arms when she's tired." I didn't notice that I was crying until he walks towards me and wipes my tears, "Wait. I'm not done yet." He joked, making me laugh a bit, "Nah, I'm kidding. I already told you everything that I want to, I just need to say this one." He steps back and looks at his parents, "Ma, Pa, I want to thank you for raising me to be a man I am today. For constantly guiding me, for reminding me to always be kind to everyone, that it's okay to give more than to receive." Then he faces my parents, "And Mom, Dad, thank you for giving birth to this lovely lady right here." He said and pats my head, "And for giving your blessings to us, for entrusting her to me. I won't promise that we'll have a perfect marriage, but we'll do our best to keep our love strong." Then he turns to me, reaching out for my hand as he looks at me with the most loving expression in his eyes. "And to my lovely wife, I love you, today, tomorrow, and for the days to come, I will love you. You're the best one the gods have blessed me with, so no matter what problems we'll face, through good times or bad times, in sickness and in health, I will be with you. I thank the gods for giving me the chance to be yours in this lifetime, and I hope for the next lifetime we'll have, you will find your way back into my arms again."
DaBaby’s Top 10 Best Features Of 2019
Sometimes, an artist comes around and fills a void that the music world didn’t even know it had. Over the past year or so, North Carolina’s DaBaby has went from a rapper that was swept up in the undertow of hip-hop to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the genre’s elite. Back in 2016, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk—then known as Baby Jesus—was middling in the game, mimicking other MC’s styles and struggling to capture that wave that’d catapult him to stardom. He’d reach the stature that he aspired to by letting his magnetic personality bubble to the surface. Thrust into stardom by his debut album Baby On Baby, the young C.E.O took from DMX’s playbook from circa 1998 by delivering his sophomore effort Kirk just six months later.
In a testament to how much his stock had grown in the interim period, Kirk achieved what his first Interscope-affiliated offering couldn’t as it entered at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
As to how he hurdled from number seven to the top spot, the answer is simple. From March onwards, DaBaby has been on a momentous feature run that’s seen him crop up in every conceivable pocket of the musical landscape. All doused in his innate charisma and boisterous flow, the 27-year-old has went from languishing on the fringes to commanding a hefty fee for his services.
“It’s six digits,” he told the LA Leakers. “God is great. It’s six of ’em…. I don’t give a fuck if they get offended or not because I use to pay to play. You just gotta respect the game, man.”
Content to make his presence felt on songs by either globe-trotting artists or young rappers on the come-up, these guest appearances have been pivotal in fashioning the enviable spot that DaBaby now holds and it’s something that he point blank refuses to relent on. Seeing as we’re reaching the dying embers of the year, it’s time to pinpoint his ten finest features of 2019 and rank them accordingly.
10. Lizzo – Truth Hurts (Remix)
While DaBaby normally possesses an uncanny ability to mould that signature flow to any musical direction, his attempt to get on “Truth Hurts” feels a bit clunky and mechanical, despite the fact that the record itself is his typical uptempo vibe. That said, it’d be disingenuous to write a list about his 2019 features and not mention his appearance alongside Lizzo based on cultural significance alone. Now that she’s transcended any conceivable genre boundaries or demographic through line, the fact that the fully fledged pop star/occasional flautist called on DaBaby for a remix attests to the mainstream appeal that he harbours.
9. Lil Nas X – Panini
If anyone could stake their claim to have eclipsed DaBaby’s massive climb to fame this year, it’d be Lil Nas X. The only difference is that where the jury is still out on where the Atlantan will land in the game after his 7 EP, his NC counterpart has exhibited no signs of fatigue. Over that exceedingly catchy melody and production from Dot Da Genius and Take A Day Trip, Baby Jesus illuminates the audience on his own grievance with his former flame and seamlessly taps into the overarching narrative of the track. Riding the beat with undeniable ease, DaBaby even takes time out to slyly allude to the thematic similarities between their breakout hits as he spits, “She watched that “Walker Texas Ranger”, say I remind her of Nas X, I’m talkin’ “Old Town Road,” all my hoes down low, they like girls and I like girls, three at a time, sometimes four.”
8. YK Osiris – Freaky Dancer
Conceived with the club in mind, YK Osiris and DaBaby may approach the music world from different angles but have undeniable chemistry on wax. Similarly prone to declaring themselves to be the next big thing in music, the clash of styles between these two 2019 XXL Freshman worked better than many would’ve anticipated on the engrossing “Freaky Dancer.” An ode to strippers and pole dancers in the traditional vein, DaBaby’s verse epitomizes one of his key strengths that’s served him well over the past year of features. Where other rappers feel the need to get verbose on another artist’s track and really stamp their imprint on it, Baby keeps things succinct and punchy in a way that prevents listener fatigue. Loaded with his usual brand of comical imagery and self-assured raunchiness, this is DaBaby by the numbers but that’s by no means a bad thing.
7. YG – Stop Snitchin’ Remix
Laser focused towards Tekashi 6ix9ine, YG’s “Stop Snitchin” was never crafted with the intention of mincing words. From its pejorative mantra of a chorus to Young Gangsta’s no-nonsense bars towards informants and cooperating parties, the 4REAL 4REAL single certainly served its purpose as a retort to the culture of cooperation, but there was a sense that it ultimately failed to set the heather alight in the way that YG may have envisioned. Then in June of this year, Baby Jesus came along and gave it a new lease of life on the remix. Jovial and authoritative all in one fell swoop, his verse saw him espouse his dominance over lesser men and contained no shortage of allusions to taking their love interests for good measure. Laden with the charismatic bars that he’s became so renowned for—”soon as I woke up, she give me head, that’s breakfast in bed, told on your n***a he went fed, they found out you scared”—the remix and its Cole Bennett-helmed video boasts more views on YouTube than the original incarnation and is a clear-cut case of why it’s advisable to have DaBaby hop on your project in any capacity.
6. Jamz – Baby Shower
After racking up production credits with artists such as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Kap G, Ski Mask The Slump God and Asian Da Brat, New York’s Jamz pulled off a real coup when he enlisted Lil Baby and DaBaby for his debut single “Baby Shower.” Formulated in a a similar format to Quality’s Control’s enlistment of the two, Lil Baby sets the scene before the Billion Dollar Baby Ent CEO emerges in fine fettle. The only difference is that the disparity between the two is a lot more glaring on this occasion.
Talented as he is, Lil Baby’s style isn’t as conducive to hitting a homerun on this sort of production as his peer and that’s definitely the case this time around. Flourishing in his pocket, the verse sees DaBaby acknowledging the momentum that he’s accrued over the year. From getting “off a flight with two pistols” to heading to the XXL Freshman shoot on his own schedule, the gradual shift towards a more considered and contemplative delivery proves that he doesn’t need to rely on the more bombastic aspects of his persona to succeed. Veering from jovial and energized to a more sinister tone, this blistering showing earns a spot by embodying the duality that had made him into such a continually interesting proposition in the first place.
5. Quality Control – Baby
As much it could’ve easily been a one-off novelty, the fusion of DaBaby and Lil Baby has proved itself to be conducive to solid output at every turn. From the “TODAY Remix” through to Kirk’s “TOES” and beyond, the pairing’s synergy is undeniable and hasn’t waned as the NC rapper began to make his ascent up to the same stature in the game as his ATLien namesake. Complete with one of the finest Scarface homages that hip-hop has produced this decade, both men excel on this QC-bankrolled number. Where his frequent collaborator handles the more melodic facets of the track, DaBaby comes through with a gripping verse that makes audacious claims of “Baby gettin’ jiggy, on stage with the Glizzy/Baby CEO, he shake the game like he Diddy.” Premature as that status may seem, it’s hard not to grant them some validity when DaBaby delivers them with this much self-belief.
4. Post Malone – Enemies
When DaBaby claimed the coveted top spot on the billboards with Kirk, his status as a superstar in-the-making was all but confirmed. But what makes the accomplishment all the more resounding is that he overthrew an album that he was featured on to do so. Following a three-week spell of dominance, the NC rapper’s sophomore project knocked Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding from its perch. Unlikely as their collaboration may seem, DaBaby’s appearance on “Enemies” elevated it from a relatively listless album filler to something tantamount to an event. Ramping up to high gear, he keeps within the parameters of the track’s theme and– amid comically threatening to buy a Prius just to belittle a friend turned foe– offers up a philosophical musing in his own offhand way, proclaiming
“Friends are like the autumn, every year they leavin’
I’ma rake ’em in a pile, throw ’em in a bag
Tie them bitches up and leave ’em.”
3. Gucci Mane – Richer Than Errybody
For the longest time, Guwop has acted as an arbiter of taste when it comes to the next wave of hard-edged MC’s. From Rich Homie Quan to Young Thug, Gucci’s eye for talent came in handy once more when he enlisted NBA Youngboy and DaBaby for an anthemic track from Woptober II. Helmed by Lex Luger, this criminally underrated track sees the three MC’s tapping into the darkest recesses of their personalities for an imposing banger. While Youngboy leaves with the spoils on this one, DaBaby proves that he’s impervious to slacking off with a verse that speaks to his readiness for war as and when it comes around. “If a lil’ n***a try me and send out a gun down, that n***a won’t live to see sun up,” he spits with a sincerity that’s at once frightening and enthralling.
2. Megan Da Stallion – Cash Shit
DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion pose together at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2019 –  Johnny Nunez/Getty Images
If there was a female parallel of DaBaby over the last year, it’s undoubtedly Megan Thee Stallion. Propelled from the genre’s outer circle and into the hearts and minds of the wider consumer, the two have became the toast of the commercial hip-hop world. As a result, it seemed only natural that the two would cross paths sooner rather than later. Thankfully, their first liaison did anything but disappoint. Squaring off on one of the highlights from Megan’s Fever mixtape, the two go toe to toe on the vulgarity stakes while its pared-back beat gives plenty of room for DaBaby to colour in the blanks in the manner we’re accustomed to. Told from two differing perspectives, Baby’s verse is the sound of him steering into his status as a lothario in a way that likely exacerbated B Simone’s well-documented thirst for the MC.
1. Dreamville – Under The Sun
Kept under wraps until its release, no one knew exactly what to expect from the star-studded Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Billowing with high-ranking artists, the highly-publicized, invitation only recording sessions had fans playing fantasy matchmaker and speculating on who’d steal the show. Yet amid all the speculation, one thing no one would’ve put forth was that DaBaby would be the main talking point on a track that featured J. Cole, Lute and a hook from king Kendrick himself. Flanked by two of Carolina’s finest and a majestic, soulful beat from Pluss, Christo & Nice Rec, Baby Jesus fends off a tenacious verse from Dreamville’s own Lute to come out on top. Where some have pilloried DaBaby for a lack of versatility, “Under The Sun” showed the wider applicability of his flow beyond Jetsonmade’s production or trap beats of a similar template. A passing of the torch moment from one North Carolinian great to the next, the decision to let the beat subside and allow DaBaby to drill each hard-hitting syllable into the listener’s face paid off in spades and clarified that he can hold his own in any circumstance. Even if he’s as prolific with the features in 2020, he’ll be hard pushed to deliver a mission statement of a verse that lands quite like this.
Told from two differing perspectives, Baby’s verse is the sound of him steering into his status as a lothario in a way that likely exacerbated B Simone’s well-documented thirst for the MC.
1. Dreamville – Under The Sun
Kept under wraps until its release, no one knew exactly what to expect from the star-studded Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Billowing with high-ranking artists, the highly-publicized, invitation only recording sessions had fans playing fantasy matchmaker and speculating on who’d steal the show. Yet amid all the speculation, one thing no one would’ve put forth was that DaBaby would be the main talking point on a track that featured J. Cole, Lute and a hook from king Kendrick himself. Flanked by two of Carolina’s finest and a majestic, soulful beat from Pluss, Christo & Nice Rec, Baby Jesus fends off a tenacious verse from Dreamville’s own Lute to come out on top. Where some have pilloried DaBaby for a lack of versatility, “Under The Sun” showed the wider applicability of his flow beyond Jetsonmade’s production or trap beats of a similar template. A passing of the torch moment from one North Carolinian great to the next, the decision to let the beat subside and allow DaBaby to drill each hard-hitting syllable into the listener’s face paid off in spades and clarified that he can hold his own in any circumstance. Even if he’s as prolific with the features in 2020, he’ll be hard pushed to deliver a mission statement of a verse that lands quite like this.
DaBaby’s Top 10 Best Features Of 2019
Sometimes, an artist comes around and fills a void that the music world didn’t even know it had. Over the past year or so, North Carolina’s DaBaby has went from a rapper that was swept up in the undertow of hip-hop to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the genre’s elite. Back in 2016, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk—then known as Baby Jesus—was middling in the game, mimicking other MC’s styles and struggling to capture that wave that’d catapult him to stardom. He’d reach the stature that he aspired to by letting his magnetic personality bubble to the surface. Thrust into stardom by his debut album Baby On Baby, the young C.E.O took from DMX’s playbook from circa 1998 by delivering his sophomore effort Kirk just six months later.
In a testament to how much his stock had grown in the interim period, Kirk achieved what his first Interscope-affiliated offering couldn’t as it entered at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
As to how he hurdled from number seven to the top spot, the answer is simple. From March onwards, DaBaby has been on a momentous feature run that’s seen him crop up in every conceivable pocket of the musical landscape. All doused in his innate charisma and boisterous flow, the 27-year-old has went from languishing on the fringes to commanding a hefty fee for his services.
“It’s six digits,” he told the LA Leakers. “God is great. It’s six of ’em…. I don’t give a fuck if they get offended or not because I use to pay to play. You just gotta respect the game, man.”
Content to make his presence felt on songs by either globe-trotting artists or young rappers on the come-up, these guest appearances have been pivotal in fashioning the enviable spot that DaBaby now holds and it’s something that he point blank refuses to relent on. Seeing as we’re reaching the dying embers of the year, it’s time to pinpoint his ten finest features of 2019 and rank them accordingly.
10. Lizzo – Truth Hurts (Remix)
While DaBaby normally possesses an uncanny ability to mould that signature flow to any musical direction, his attempt to get on “Truth Hurts” feels a bit clunky and mechanical, despite the fact that the record itself is his typical uptempo vibe. That said, it’d be disingenuous to write a list about his 2019 features and not mention his appearance alongside Lizzo based on cultural significance alone. Now that she’s transcended any conceivable genre boundaries or demographic through line, the fact that the fully fledged pop star/occasional flautist called on DaBaby for a remix attests to the mainstream appeal that he harbours.
9. Lil Nas X – Panini
If anyone could stake their claim to have eclipsed DaBaby’s massive climb to fame this year, it’d be Lil Nas X. The only difference is that where the jury is still out on where the Atlantan will land in the game after his 7 EP, his NC counterpart has exhibited no signs of fatigue. Over that exceedingly catchy melody and production from Dot Da Genius and Take A Day Trip, Baby Jesus illuminates the audience on his own grievance with his former flame and seamlessly taps into the overarching narrative of the track. Riding the beat with undeniable ease, DaBaby even takes time out to slyly allude to the thematic similarities between their breakout hits as he spits, “She watched that “Walker Texas Ranger”, say I remind her of Nas X, I’m talkin’ “Old Town Road,” all my hoes down low, they like girls and I like girls, three at a time, sometimes four.”
8. YK Osiris – Freaky Dancer
Conceived with the club in mind, YK Osiris and DaBaby may approach the music world from different angles but have undeniable chemistry on wax. Similarly prone to declaring themselves to be the next big thing in music, the clash of styles between these two 2019 XXL Freshman worked better than many would’ve anticipated on the engrossing “Freaky Dancer.” An ode to strippers and pole dancers in the traditional vein, DaBaby’s verse epitomizes one of his key strengths that’s served him well over the past year of features. Where other rappers feel the need to get verbose on another artist’s track and really stamp their imprint on it, Baby keeps things succinct and punchy in a way that prevents listener fatigue. Loaded with his usual brand of comical imagery and self-assured raunchiness, this is DaBaby by the numbers but that’s by no means a bad thing.
7. YG – Stop Snitchin’ Remix
Laser focused towards Tekashi 6ix9ine, YG’s “Stop Snitchin” was never crafted with the intention of mincing words. From its pejorative mantra of a chorus to Young Gangsta’s no-nonsense bars towards informants and cooperating parties, the 4REAL 4REAL single certainly served its purpose as a retort to the culture of cooperation, but there was a sense that it ultimately failed to set the heather alight in the way that YG may have envisioned. Then in June of this year, Baby Jesus came along and gave it a new lease of life on the remix. Jovial and authoritative all in one fell swoop, his verse saw him espouse his dominance over lesser men and contained no shortage of allusions to taking their love interests for good measure. Laden with the charismatic bars that he’s became so renowned for—”soon as I woke up, she give me head, that’s breakfast in bed, told on your n***a he went fed, they found out you scared”—the remix and its Cole Bennett-helmed video boasts more views on YouTube than the original incarnation and is a clear-cut case of why it’s advisable to have DaBaby hop on your project in any capacity.
6. Jamz – Baby Shower
After racking up production credits with artists such as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Kap G, Ski Mask The Slump God and Asian Da Brat, New York’s Jamz pulled off a real coup when he enlisted Lil Baby and DaBaby for his debut single “Baby Shower.” Formulated in a a similar format to Quality’s Control’s enlistment of the two, Lil Baby sets the scene before the Billion Dollar Baby Ent CEO emerges in fine fettle. The only difference is that the disparity between the two is a lot more glaring on this occasion.
Talented as he is, Lil Baby’s style isn’t as conducive to hitting a homerun on this sort of production as his peer and that’s definitely the case this time around. Flourishing in his pocket, the verse sees DaBaby acknowledging the momentum that he’s accrued over the year. From getting “off a flight with two pistols” to heading to the XXL Freshman shoot on his own schedule, the gradual shift towards a more considered and contemplative delivery proves that he doesn’t need to rely on the more bombastic aspects of his persona to succeed. Veering from jovial and energized to a more sinister tone, this blistering showing earns a spot by embodying the duality that had made him into such a continually interesting proposition in the first place.
5. Quality Control – Baby
 DaBaby and Lil Baby perform together at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2019 – Moses Robinson/Getty Images
As much it could’ve easily been a one-off novelty, the fusion of DaBaby and Lil Baby has proved itself to be conducive to solid output at every turn. From the “TODAY Remix” through to Kirk’s “TOES” and beyond, the pairing’s synergy is undeniable and hasn’t waned as the NC rapper began to make his ascent up to the same stature in the game as his ATLien namesake. Complete with one of the finest Scarface homages that hip-hop has produced this decade, both men excel on this QC-bankrolled number. Where his frequent collaborator handles the more melodic facets of the track, DaBaby comes through with a gripping verse that makes audacious claims of “Baby gettin’ jiggy, on stage with the Glizzy/Baby CEO, he shake the game like he Diddy.” Premature as that status may seem, it’s hard not to grant them some validity when DaBaby delivers them with this much self-belief.
4. Post Malone – Enemies
When DaBaby claimed the coveted top spot on the billboards with Kirk, his status as a superstar in-the-making was all but confirmed. But what makes the accomplishment all the more resounding is that he overthrew an album that he was featured on to do so. Following a three-week spell of dominance, the NC rapper’s sophomore project knocked Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding from its perch. Unlikely as their collaboration may seem, DaBaby’s appearance on “Enemies” elevated it from a relatively listless album filler to something tantamount to an event. Ramping up to high gear, he keeps within the parameters of the track’s theme and– amid comically threatening to buy a Prius just to belittle a friend turned foe– offers up a philosophical musing in his own offhand way, proclaiming
“Friends are like the autumn, every year they leavin’
I’ma rake ’em in a pile, throw ’em in a bag
Tie them bitches up and leave ’em.”
3. Gucci Mane – Richer Than Errybody
For the longest time, Guwop has acted as an arbiter of taste when it comes to the next wave of hard-edged MC’s. From Rich Homie Quan to Young Thug, Gucci’s eye for talent came in handy once more when he enlisted NBA Youngboy and DaBaby for an anthemic track from Woptober II. Helmed by Lex Luger, this criminally underrated track sees the three MC’s tapping into the darkest recesses of their personalities for an imposing banger. While Youngboy leaves with the spoils on this one, DaBaby proves that he’s impervious to slacking off with a verse that speaks to his readiness for war as and when it comes around. “If a lil’ n***a try me and send out a gun down, that n***a won’t live to see sun up,” he spits with a sincerity that’s at once frightening and enthralling.
2. Megan Da Stallion – Cash Shit
If there was a female parallel of DaBaby over the last year, it’s undoubtedly Megan Thee Stallion. Propelled from the genre’s outer circle and into the hearts and minds of the wider consumer, the two have became the toast of the commercial hip-hop world. As a result, it seemed only natural that the two would cross paths sooner rather than later. Thankfully, their first liaison did anything but disappoint. Squaring off on one of the highlights from Megan’s Fever mixtape, the two go toe to toe on the vulgarity stakes while its pared-back beat gives plenty of room for DaBaby to colour in the blanks in the manner we’re accustomed to. Told from two differing perspectives, Baby’s verse is the sound of him steering into his status as a lothario in a way that likely exacerbated B Simone’s well-documented thirst for the MC.
1. Dreamville – Under The Sun
Kept under wraps until its release, no one knew exactly what to expect from the star-studded Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Billowing with high-ranking artists, the highly-publicized, invitation only recording sessions had fans playing fantasy matchmaker and speculating on who’d steal the show. Yet amid all the speculation, one thing no one would’ve put forth was that DaBaby would be the main talking point on a track that featured J. Cole, Lute and a hook from king Kendrick himself. Flanked by two of Carolina’s finest and a majestic, soulful beat from Pluss, Christo & Nice Rec, Baby Jesus fends off a tenacious verse from Dreamville’s own Lute to come out on top. Where some have pilloried DaBaby for a lack of versatility, “Under The Sun” showed the wider applicability of his flow beyond Jetsonmade’s production or trap beats of a similar template. A passing of the torch moment from one North Carolinian great to the next, the decision to let the beat subside and allow DaBaby to drill each hard-hitting syllable into the listener’s face paid off in spades and clarified that he can hold his own in any circumstance. Even if he’s as prolific with the features in 2020, he’ll be hard pushed to deliver a mission statement of a verse that lands quite like this.
Jovial and authoritative all in one fell swoop, his verse saw him espouse his dominance over lesser men and contained no shortage of allusions to taking their love interests for good measure. Laden with the charismatic bars that he’s became so renowned for—"soon as I woke up, she give me head, that’s breakfast in bed, told on your n***a he went fed, they found out you scared”—the remix and its Cole Bennett-helmed video boasts more views on YouTube than the original incarnation and is a clear-cut case of why it’s advisable to have DaBaby hop on your project in any capacity.
6. Jamz - Baby Shower
After racking up production credits with artists such as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Kap G, Ski Mask The Slump God and Asian Da Brat, New York’s Jamz pulled off a real coup when he enlisted Lil Baby and DaBaby for his debut single “Baby Shower.” Formulated in a a similar format to Quality’s Control’s enlistment of the two, Lil Baby sets the scene before the Billion Dollar Baby Ent CEO emerges in fine fettle. The only difference is that the disparity between the two is a lot more glaring on this occasion.
Talented as he is, Lil Baby’s style isn’t as conducive to hitting a homerun on this sort of production as his peer and that’s definitely the case this time around. Flourishing in his pocket, the verse sees DaBaby acknowledging the momentum that he’s accrued over the year. From getting “off a flight with two pistols” to heading to the XXL Freshman shoot on his own schedule, the gradual shift towards a more considered and contemplative delivery proves that he doesn’t need to rely on the more bombastic aspects of his persona to succeed. Veering from jovial and energized to a more sinister tone, this blistering showing earns a spot by embodying the duality that had made him into such a continually interesting proposition in the first place.
5. Quality Control – Baby
As much it could’ve easily been a one-off novelty, the fusion of DaBaby and Lil Baby has proved itself to be conducive to solid output at every turn. From the “TODAY Remix” through to Kirk’s “TOES” and beyond, the pairing’s synergy is undeniable and hasn’t waned as the NC rapper began to make his ascent up to the same stature in the game as his ATLien namesake. Complete with one of the finest Scarface homages that hip-hop has produced this decade, both men excel on this QC-bankrolled number. Where his frequent collaborator handles the more melodic facets of the track, DaBaby comes through with a gripping verse that makes audacious claims of “Baby gettin’ jiggy, on stage with the Glizzy/Baby CEO, he shake the game like he Diddy.” Premature as that status may seem, it’s hard not to grant them some validity when DaBaby delivers them with this much self-belief.
4. Post Malone - Enemies
When DaBaby claimed the coveted top spot on the billboards with Kirk, his status as a superstar in-the-making was all but confirmed. But what makes the accomplishment all the more resounding is that he overthrew an album that he was featured on to do so. Following a three-week spell of dominance, the NC rapper’s sophomore project knocked Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding from its perch. Unlikely as their collaboration may seem, DaBaby’s appearance on “Enemies” elevated it from a relatively listless album filler to something tantamount to an event. Ramping up to high gear, he keeps within the parameters of the track’s theme and-- amid comically threatening to buy a Prius just to belittle a friend turned foe-- offers up a philosophical musing in his own offhand way, proclaiming
“Friends are like the autumn, every year they leavin'
I'ma rake 'em in a pile, throw 'em in a bag
Tie them bitches up and leave 'em.”
3. Gucci Mane - Richer Than Errybody
For the longest time, Guwop has acted as an arbiter of taste when it comes to the next wave of hard-edged MC’s. From Rich Homie Quan to Young Thug, Gucci’s eye for talent came in handy once more when he enlisted NBA Youngboy and DaBaby for an anthemic track from Woptober II. Helmed by Lex Luger, this criminally underrated track sees the three MC’s tapping into the darkest recesses of their personalities for an imposing banger. While Youngboy leaves with the spoils on this one, DaBaby proves that he’s impervious to slacking off with a verse that speaks to his readiness for war as and when it comes around. “If a lil' n***a try me and send out a gun down, that n***a won't live to see sun up,” he spits with a sincerity that’s at once frightening and enthralling.
2. Megan Da Stallion - Cash Shit
If there was a female parallel of DaBaby over the last year, it’s undoubtedly Megan Thee Stallion. Propelled from the genre’s outer circle and into the hearts and minds of the wider consumer, the two have became the toast of the commercial hip-hop world. As a result, it seemed only natural that the two would cross paths sooner rather than later. Thankfully, their first liaison did anything but disappoint. Squaring off on one of the highlights from Megan’s Fever mixtape, the two go toe to toe on the vulgarity stakes while its pared-back beat gives plenty of room for DaBaby to colour in the blanks in the manner we’re accustomed to. Told from two differing perspectives, Baby’s verse is the sound of him steering into his status as a lothario in a way that likely exacerbated B Simone’s well-documented thirst for the MC.
1. Dreamville - Under The Sun
Kept under wraps until its release, no one knew exactly what to expect from the star-studded Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Billowing with high-ranking artists, the highly-publicized, invitation only recording sessions had fans playing fantasy matchmaker and speculating on who’d steal the show. Yet amid all the speculation, one thing no one would’ve put forth was that DaBaby would be the main talking point on a track that featured J. Cole, Lute and a hook from king Kendrick himself. Flanked by two of Carolina’s finest and a majestic, soulful beat from Pluss, Christo & Nice Rec, Baby Jesus fends off a tenacious verse from Dreamville’s own Lute to come out on top. Where some have pilloried DaBaby for a lack of versatility, “Under The Sun” showed the wider applicability of his flow beyond Jetsonmade’s production or trap beats of a similar template. A passing of the torch moment from one North Carolinian great to the next, the decision to let the beat subside and allow DaBaby to drill each hard-hitting syllable into the listener’s face paid off in spades and clarified that he can hold his own in any circumstance. Even if he’s as prolific with the features in 2020, he’ll be hard pushed to deliver a mission statement of a verse that lands quite like this.
