Hey y’all here’s a snippet of a fic that I don’t have a plot or title for that’s really just a look into how Hades would interact with Kassandra while she’s going about her business in the castle
————
Kassandra was about to take another bite when she felt something brush against her leg, which caused her to let out a surprised “oh!” and drop her fork which made a loud clank once it hit her plate, alerting the gaze of her whole family to fall on her.
The youngest princess let out a faint giggle. “Uh… s-sorry, heh, had to sneeze.” She smiled sheepishly.
Once each of her family members resumed, her father and middle sister internally shrugging it off and her mother and eldest sister turning hesitantly with hints of suspicion in their eyes, Kassandra sneakily leaned over to look under the table.
She gasped, seeing an all too familiar grin. “Hades?”
The god of the dead had phased halfway through the floor, kind of looking like a funny pop-up toy. “Heyyyy sweetheart! Y’know I heard the service in this castle was top notch so I figured hey why not pop by and see for myself? Things were kinda dead down under, ha! You look great by the way~ Heh, well, I mean you always, look great but-“
“What are you doing here?” The princess whisper-yelled, glancing frequently side to side to make sure she hasn’t turned anymore heads.
Hades chuckled. “Babe, we just went over this.”
He saw the stern, twisted-lipped look she was giving him. Which usually meant “stop screwing around and give me a real answer”.
“Alright alright alright-“ the god made a gesture with his hands, still with that smug look on his face “I was jusssst… gettinnn’ kinda lonely and uh…” he trailed off, resting one cheek in his fist and tracing circles the floor of the dining room with the other hand in a faux-shy manner “well you know how dark and dismal it gets down there, heheh” he then proceeded to do a walking motion with his fingers, his eyes following them. “I-yeee wanted toooo see you again~ my little ray of sunshine~ It’s just not the same without you all up in there and” he made a circling motion with his hand “prettying up the place with your.. sweet voice and.. face~” he finished the sentence with the most dashing grin he could muster for her, resting his hand on the floor.
Kassandra softened, her shoulders relaxing as she let out a breath. A small smile now graced her lips. “Oh, Hades that’s sweet and I-I miss you too but-“
“Kassandra, dear, is everything alright?” The queens voice chimed from above the dinner table.
In an instant, the princess popped up from under the table and sat up straight. A wild blush coating her cheeks as she laughed awkwardly. “Oh! Um… yes, mother, I’m fine I just.. um. dropped.. my… fork.”
Her mother sharply raised an eyebrow.
A throaty, nervous giggle escaped Kassandra as she clutched her hands in her lap, praying to Zeus that her family wouldn’t notice anything off.
Her dad, through a mouthful of bread, chuckled and pointed to her plate. “Your fork is right there, munchkin!”
The queen gave him a distasteful look at his less than ideal table manners.
Kassandra looked down, pretending to be shocked as she picked up the silverware. “Oh! Ha, right, there it isss haha! Silly me!” She dropped it onto the floor. “Oops! I’m just gonna get that.” She said through a cheesy smile, pointing to the floor before diving back down.
From above the table still, the middle princess, red-headed Selephia, turned to her mom and dad. “We really need to get her a better ‘grace-and-poise’ tutor”
Once Kassandra’s head was back under the table, Hades lit up.
“Hey you’re back!” Hades joked.
“Hon, I’m really happy to see you-“
“go on~”
“Heh, but I’m well.. I’m kind of busy!”
“Busy… eating”
“Busy having dinner with my family! Who I never really get to see that often.”
“Aw c’mon they’ve had ya for like a week!” The deity put on his best pleading eyes and pouty lip. “when is it gonna be my turn again huh?”
Kassandra stifled a laugh, leaning forward to give him a quick kiss. “We can see each other after dinner, okay?”
Hades opened his mouth to speak, but before he could say anything, the princess quickly sat back up at the table, to which he huffed and leaned back into the palm of his hand.
“Why bother going back, there’s chopped liver right here” he muttered, gesturing to himself as he said ‘chopped liver’.
