May I have the confidence and audacity of this knitting pattern that suggests I buy 11 different hanks of yarn at $28 each in order to knit ONE PAIR of socks

You know that post that's like, if you feel like your life is going too fast, do something hard? Well it's correct, but I don't think I needed to go quite as hard as deciding to crochet this blanket, which I will be lucky to finish by this time next year.

my current crochet project, i'm making a touque for my boyfriend for his birthday next week 😊 hopefully i can get it done by then lol, it's working up pretty quickly at least. the yarn i'm using is malabrigo worsted 100% wool and it's soo soft.. i think it'll make a really cozy and warm hat!!

part 2 of today’s notes, just yarn stuff
Oh god, they don’t even make Fun Fur yarn anymore! D:
This is what I get for using other people’s destash yarns. On the other hand, Hobby Lobby has another brand of “eyelash” yarn. Oh, the Michael’s website has another-nother brand; didn’t see it in the store, though. I spent a LOT of time there, too. Amazon has options, too, so I guess I’ll wait to order there.
Thankfully, that’ll keep me out of JoAnn’s and HL. Tomorrow’s shopping will be returning to Goodwill and then a music store.
Y’know, there were some really pretty, soft yarns that could’ve been substitutes, today. One was an alpaca blend, and the other was Caron Latte Cakes in “red macaron”. They were so soft and lovely that it kinda defeated the purpose of pairing the “fur” thing with Red Heart Super Saver. These were bulky enough on their own. ========
Also, my phone isn’t letting me transfer files (photos) via usb. I’m irked, because I’d love to share some pics right now. Gotta wait to get home, so I can grab my password notebook and log in on my phone. *sigh* Ah technology.

I went to the Gagetown Fibre Gathering yesterday to browse the local artisans selling yarn, finished objects made from different fibres, raw fleece and some practicing their crafts. These are three hanks I picked up, called Sassy Zebra Sock Yarn from a local independent dyer, @sweetskeinomine #GagetownFibreGathering #yarn #hanks #fibrearts #colourbursts

I know Hobby Lobby isn't the ideal yarn store but I had a gift card so I went in to shop around. Check this out! $125 worth of yarn for $30?! That's some good clearance 👍🏻

Good: my swatch looks excellent. Extremely pleased with my color choice and design and colorwork in the round with large, evenly sized yarn balls is far more pleasant than my previous experiences have been with flat knitting or a tiny, wildly splitty ball paired with a normal ball.
Bad: my swatch is a full inch+ too small (about 3 cm)
.
I have no experience knowing how to size up. That seems a pretty sizable difference? I guess I also tend towards knitting pretty tightly. But how many needles to size up? I suppose I could use the larger set I have and see if that’s too big, and then if it is, go to a craft store and get a goldilocks pair.
