You never really liked your university. There were a lot of problems with not just the students and the teaching staff but also with the general management of the place and just the thought of it made you so mad honestly. What made you even more pissed was that the school was your choice because you were so drawn to the campus's open concept; the cherry blossom trees in spring, the stone path to each building, and the happy students everywhere. The decision was solely on you because your parents had even suggested that you go to school in another city but you just HAD to go to this school. So really, you have nothing and no one to blame for your shitty experience but yourself.
Days like this one, when nothing seems to be going your way or even just going right generally, truly made you feel so angry at nothing and no one but at the same time at everything and everyone. Thursdays were never your favourite day but since university, it has taken a rather worse turn. Your last class of the day with the WORST professor in your major talked your ears off which made the class run longer than it should and God forbid someone remind him that class was supposed to end AGES ago. So now, you're stuck by the entrance of your building because it was raining and you didn't even think to bring your umbrella. Now you resented the open concept your university had because what even the fuck was anyone thinking.
Whoever romanticize spring rain needs to have their mouths stuffed with wet cherry blossom flowers. Because while it looks so so so pretty, it's still a pain in the ass to deal with.
"You can't help me?" you groaned into the phone. You had hoped your friend who lived in the dorm could come with an umbrella and help you get home but alas you were met with YET ANOTHER disappointing answer. "I'm sorry, we have a dorm meeting in 5 minutes because someone got caught sneaking her sibling in after hours and all of us are getting punished with her," she sighed, obvious that she was disappointed with her own situation. Not wanting to make her feel bad, you assured her that it was fine and even mustering up a goodbye to her before hanging up. After the call ended, however, you couldn't help but slump down the wall nearby and covered your face with your bag to let out a muffled frustrated scream, completely oblivious that someone was listening in and even watching what was going on with you.
Hyunwoo knew you. Well, he knew OF you as you shared a class with his friend, Sumin and while he had yet to have direct interaction with you, he was well aware of general things about you. How you have classes mostly in the same building except for one in the seminar hall that you shared with his other friends, Seeun and Junmin (though he doesn't think they'd realize), how you seemed to have quite some close friends but you seemed to still be well known around campus, and how you seemed to cringe when you're under a tree that you frequent and a breeze decided to interrupt you. But all that knowledge seemed useless because Hyunwoo didn't even know your name. He couldn't tell his friends that he was interested in you (for a lack of better word) because he know that Sumin is (embarrassing) not going to let his interest slide as platonic. So he kept (suffered alone) to himself and just watch you from afar, sometimes getting a chuckle or a grin at your antics. For a lack of better explanation, Hyunwoo considered himself intrigued by you and now that he was able to get a close-up look, he was, for a lack of better words, amused.
Determined to return home as soon as possible, so you can just wash the ick of the day and fall into a deep slumber where you can just fantasize about being a marshmallow (Or a rock, Tinnitus rules), you stood back up in a speed of light, surprising the person who was behind you. "I can do this, I can just run past this itty bitty rain and be home in no time," you mumbled to yourself, huffing and jumping slightly to prepare to take off. "Straight to the bus shelter, it's... Nothing, not that far," your head nodded along your words, starting to feel like you were being filled with positivity, "Yeah, yeah, it's no biggie whatsoever." Hyunwoo was grinning and chuckling to himself, amused at how you were trying to... survive? Does that make sense?
Not letting yourself hesitate much longer, you took off from your spot to face the seemingly worsening rain.
"Wait-,"
It didn't take long for you to slip and skid away several feet and land on a cherry blossom tree. To make your accident more unfortunate, the petals of the cherry blossom tree fell from the tree upon impact and scattered around you dramatically. Seeing this, Hyunwoo panicked and reached into his bag to fish out the umbrella his roommate, Junghoon, had placed for him, taking a moment to stare at the item in embarrassment because he could have gone to you and lent you the umbrella while he was (creepily) staring at you and your antics. Nevertheless, he shook his head and opened his umbrella to shield him before running over to you.
The closer he got, the more he could hear you sobbing whilst still in the same position as when you landed to a stop. Hyunwoo cringed and slowly leaned down so that his umbrella would also cover your face as it did with his. "Excuse me miss, are you okay?" he asked sympathetically, genuinely feeling bad that you had to go through such an embarrassing accident. Thankfully, you answered him, even if it was with an eery sarcastic laugh, "I'm... On top of the world, walking on Sunshine fantastic," you said as you closed your eyes, "And it's... Amazing that you saw me at my worst." Hyunwoo couldn't help but cringe at your words, wanting to be helpful but not quite knowing how to. "Uh... If this is your worst, I'm glad you're pulling it off," he smiled in awkward assurance, hoping that it makes your unfortunate accident perceivably better for you. Thankfully, you chuckled at him even if it was pathetic laughter (because if you hadn't, Hyunwoo might dig himself a 10-foot hole and just stay there until the embarrassment ebbs away.
He was just about to help you up and possibly asked if he could accompany you to wherever you needed to go but he heard his name being called (by a voice that sounded like an impatient Minjae) from the far distance. Afraid that he might get caught with a (cute) girl, Hyunwoo's eyes widened and his head snapped back to you who was beginning to it up. With a heavy heart, Hyunwoo handed you his umbrella and before you could ask him what he was doing, he gave you a charming smile that made your heart skip a beat.
"I hope you get back home safely."
That was all he said before he took his backpack over his head and dashed through the rain. "Wait," you called out, trying your best to stand up quickly, "I didn't get your name!" It was unfortunate that you didn't hear his friend called out for his name due to the heavy rain.
Unfortunately, the sound of the rain was louder than your voice and Hyunwoo was already quite far away. All you could do was stare at his retreating figure in sadness and conviction because how did he not fall and embarrass himself like you did and you hadn't gotten the chance to thank or talk to him. But you were at least safe from being (even more) wet on your journey home.
As you walked away, you couldn't help but look back at the tree where you landed. Usually, it would take you some time to recover from such embarrassment. Heck, you'd be angry at yourself, the tree, the pink petals, the sky, the weather, the grass, the pavement, the university, and maybe even the students that didn't fall like you did. So it surprised you to have walked away with a light heart and even gratitude. All thanks to that mysterious cutie who you didn't even get to look at properly before he ran off. You would've liked to appreciate his beauty first before you both parted. How had you never realized there was anyone as cute as he before? Why did you have to meet him in such an unfortunate circumstance?
You couldn't help but let out a final sigh before resuming your walk to the bus stop, hoping that you'd get to meet the stranger you met under the cherry blossom tree once again.

"So he just gave you an umbrella... and ran?" you nodded at the question that was asked by one of your friends, Liz.
"And you had never seen him on this campus before?" your other friend, Rei, added and again, you simply nodded at her question.
All three of your friends smacked their foreheads with their palms, absolutely dumbfounded by how you handled the situation. "God, (y/n), how is it that these kinds of things seem to only happen to you?" Your last friend, Haewon, asked in exasperation. You couldn't help but groan and slumped down on the table before you, accidentally bumping your forehead on the hard surface which made Liz cringe. "And there she goes again," she teased, snickering but pushing your head slightly to see the red mark and your scrunched-up face and gently pressing her cold can of cola on the spot, "Dum dum."
Rei rested her chin on her open palm and tilted her head, "So, what are you planning on doing?" she asked. For a moment, all you could do was hum, not knowing what to do because you really do have no plans whatsoever. It had been five days since you saw the cutie who helped you under the cherry blossom tree and you hasn't seen him since and you were sure that you'd recognize him immediately. How can you forget his worried eyes that turned into adorable crescents when he smiled? How can you forget his soft, pastel green cardigan and white shirt that was paired with black jeans and white Adidas that somehow made him look like a model? How can you forget his melodious voice when he talked? And God, how can you forget the fact that he made you feel better without even trying? He was it, he was what you needed to motivate you to go to school and it might be just some dumb crush but you really do want to see him again.
Unbeknownst to you, Haewon had slipped her hand into your bag and taken the umbrella the boy had lent to you and waved it over her head as she rose to her feet slightly. "Is there a cute boy who is missing his umbrella because he lent it to a clumsy fool last week?" she yelled at the whole cafeteria out of the blue which made you yelp and immediately pulled her down just as people snapped their heads towards your table. "Are you nuts!?" you hissed as you hit the side of her arm in a scolding manner. Yet, Haewon only blinked her eyes confusedly at you, "Wha- me? I'm doing your job effectively! Don't you wanna meet this boy and then marry him?" Truly, you wonder how Haewon's mouth has yet to get her in trouble. "Not marry!" you whined at her to which she just rolled her eyes, "Fine, you're against marriage, but you want a future with him, no?" All you could do was groan and run your fingers through your hair, "Rei was more helpful when she couldn't help me with an umbrella last week," you muttered. Liz scrunched her nose at you and she couldn't help but add, "I mean... Had Rei helped you last week, Mr cutie wouldn't have been able to help you," to which you replied with a deadpanned look on your face that made her raise both of her hands slightly, "I'm just stating a fact here, you're mad at Haewon unnie, not me," she grinned sheepishly.
It wasn't like you were mad at your friends or anything because you were mostly mad at yourself for not being able to find the cutie. Granted, you had only seen him once but on a campus with a limited number of students walking around everywhere, statistically speaking, you should've been able to bump into him again in no time. But no time feels like yes time and yes, time sure was being a bitch because it felt like forever. Every day, you try to be more aware of your surroundings, be more aware of the people in case you see the cutie and every day, without fail, you brought the umbrella he lent you in your bag along with a little note of gratitude. In it was the usual thank you for helping your dumb ass and for making your day slightly better and at the bottom right corner, you had written your number for the purpose of "wanting to pay you back for your kindness. So text me when you're available :)" it's cheesy and you blame Liz.
Suddenly, someone approached your table, a guy who looked so innocent and he had the most adorable smile on his face. "Hi, sorry, is the rest of the seat taken?" he asked, tilting his head a little. you were sure that had you known him, you would've absolutely squished his cheeks and given him the biggest hug ever at any given time. "Oh, no, please," Rei gestured for him to take a seat on the space at the end of the table. "Thank you!" he cheerfully said before turning slightly and waving his hands, "Guys, I found a table!" The four of you couldn't help but turn around and watch as six more guys walked through the sea of people towards the direction of the table you were occupying. "Guys, I think we need to leave," Rei said, cringing at the number of people around but also at the thought of them having a hard time finding seats. The rest of you nodded and immediately packed your stuff and took your trays. Seeing this, the guy felt bad, "Oh, you guys don't have to leave!" he pouted, feeling bad because he thought you all left because of him. But Liz waved a hand at him and smiled, "No, don't worry! We need to go to class anyways!" which seemed to reassure him as he simply nodded and bowed slightly, "Thank you so much," he smiled.
Once you and your friends cleared, the guy's four friends soon came to the table just as the four of you left the table, giving the guy you interacted with one last wave (just for fun) which he happily reciprocated. "Yujun, dude, how'd you get them to leave?" Sumin smirked, chuckling slightly while setting his tray down. The other people in the group; Yechan, Junmin, Hunter, Junghoon, and Jinsik followed suit, taking their respective spots. "Probably by telling them something about snail penises," Yechan snickered at his friend whose expression dropped into an unamused one, "How're your books, Yechan, are they balanced?" he retorted back. But of course, Yechan being Yechan, he wasn't affected by his friend's words, he simply sit on his chair and plastered on (an obviously faux) innocent smile, "Better than your genealogy paper I'll bet," thankfully Junmin was there to stop either one of them to start throwing food at each other, only letting Yujun squeak out something about Yechan's response not even making any sense.
It seemed like you really do have rotten luck because not even five minutes after you cleared up, Hyunwoo walked into the cafeteria with two of his friends on his sides. "All I'm saying is," Seeun shrugged his shoulder to readjust his bag so he won't let go of his tray, "The idea that reality is all fake and that the physical world is all caused by ideas is plausible! For instance, what if the things you see around you aren't actually what they seem? What if the things that you see are just how your brain wants to perceive them? Or let's say there's a chair in a room. Who's to say that chair still exists when you leave the room because there was no one to perceive it?" God, Hyunwoo love his friends but sometimes he really does question why they became friends in the first place. The additional three guys soon approached the table you had just occupied, and to poke fun at you and your luck even more, Hyunwoo had chosen to sit on the spot you sat on. "For fuck's sake, Seeun, you took ONE philosophy class last semester. Move on!" Minjae complained, choosing a seat at the far end, near Yechan where he didn't have to deal with Seeun. However, Seeun only scoffed at his older friend, "By that logic, you should forget all your introductory classes because you had only taken those classes once, hyung."
"Hey, Hyunwoo's here!" Jinsik greeted his seemingly quiet friend in an attempt to stop more fights to break and even resume the potential fight between Yechan and Yujun. "How are you today, hyung?" Hunter, who was next to Hyunwoo asked before popping a piece of fish cake from his bowl of tteokbokki into his mouth. "Oooh look at him, isn't it obvious?" Sumin snickered, making Hyunwoo freeze in his spot while his pupils shook nervously, fearing that Sumin might know something, "Hyunwoo is sad because his little mysterious miss scattered-petal-umbrella-borrower hasn't been seen around." Immediately, Hyunwoo's head snapped to Junghoon who felt his friend's glare and he halted his movement just as he was about to take a spoonful of soup. Hyunwoo's eyes narrowed and Junghoon, without dropping his spoon back into his bowl, made a statement for himself, "I didn't know it was a SECRET secret, I thought it was a general knowledge secret."
Confused, Junmin looked between his friends with curiosity, "What? What miss scattered-petal-umbrella-borrower?" he asked, clearly wanting to know what everyone (some, but it didn't include him so he felt left out) was talking about. "Say those five words quickly like a tongue-twister, I dare you," Minjae snickered and soon the table erupted into a tongue-twister challenge battle, allowing Hyunwoo to just sulk in his seat.
It wasn't like he wasn't trying to find you because he absolutely did. He mulled over why he hadn't seen you in a while and made a plan to be able to see you which was basically to just frequent the cherry blossom tree where you fell. To be fair, he had only implemented the plan the day before so his success rate as of now was about the same as seeing a monkey juggling in a baby suit. Not to mention his busy schedule as a Food Technology student was not really allowing him much freedom. Still, he tried. He tried by studying under the tree, right on the spot you landed on and made sure to pass the tree when he got to the campus and when he was about to leave. But so far he hadn't had his luck meeting you again. The effort Hyunwoo put to present himself also doubled because he wanted to look nice for you. His usual fluff of hair was styled better (courtesy of Sumin) and his clothes were nicer (courtesy of Minjae), heck, he even found a new sense of confidence (courtesy of Yechan who said that they're one Christmas away from buying him a loom and call him the loonie roomie with a loomy).
"Hey, hey, hey, let's go back to talking about Hyunwoo," Minjae chuckled after seeing Sumin choke on his own spit. Yujun glanced at the oldest, blinking twice in confusion before stating, "Well, to be fair, we all got sidetracked because of you, hyung," Minjae's left eye twitch at the guy who was innocently nibbling on a piece of chicken on his fork but he managed a (forced) wide grin, "Well, I'm refocusing back to Hyunwoo," he said simply. Hearing this, Hyunwoo sat up straight and shrugged slightly, "I don't think there's much to tell, you know? It's just... Someone that I wished to have more interactions with," though he wanted to appear casual or even nonchalant, the slight pout on the corners of his lips betrayed him.
"Okay, now I'm confused," Sumin said, raising an eyebrow at his friend, "I've introduced you to a lot of people on this campus and you didn't seem to be interested in anyone. Who changed your mind??" "God, Sumin hyung, isn't it possible that Hyunwoo hyung is interested in someone who has NOTHING to do with you?" Hunter scoffed. The rest of the table was nodding at Hunter's words, agreeing with him. But it wasn't until Yujun turned to Hyunwoo that he realized Hyunwoo's ears, despite his face remaining a neutral colour, were bright red and seemingly hot if one was to touch them. Yujun's eyes widened and he squeaked, finger immediately pointing to his older friend who realized and whose eyes widened to saucers, "OH MY GOD, HYUNWOO HYUNG LIKES SOMEONE HE KNEW FROM SUMIN HYUNG!" he exclaimed loudly.
To avoid bombarding, Hyunwoo immediately packed his stuff and took his tray, "I don't have time for this," was the last thing he said before he ran off, leaving his friends complaining and booing at him.
On his way out to his next class, after putting his tray to where it was supposed to go, Hyunwoo slumped on a nearby wall and hung his head. It was embarrassing that he couldn't control his reaction and because of that, people now know that he was INTERESTED (not yet crushing) on someone that Sumin also knows. "God, my life is a joke," he muttered to himself before crouching down to tie his shoelaces that had become loose.
To mock his existence, just as his focus was on his feet, you ran right past him back into the cafeteria. You looked around and spotted the table you sat on before. As you rushed back to the table, Yujun looked up and beamed when he recognized you. "Oh! It's miss nice table sharer!" he exclaimed, causing people on the table to snap their heads at you, curious at what Yujun was talking about. You were stunned to be greeted like that, as evident by your rounded, blinking eyes, but you smiled at him, "Hi? And it's (y/n) if you wanna thank me more for giving you my table," you joked. Sumin swallowed the food he was chewing and nudged you on the hip gently, "Hey (y/n), what's up?" While you both were not really that close (even with the class you shared), you both were fond of each other and you knew that Sumin has a playful and friendly persona which was why everyone was comfortable enough to joke and poke with him. You pouted at him, "I think I left my wallet here by accident. If it's not here, then it must've fallen out when I was walking around and I might as well say goodbye to it," you sighed. The guys on the table were nice enough to immediately look around and even down under the table to help you locate your missing item. All but one. Junghoon quietly lifted your slightly tattered wallet up with a blank look on his face, "I didn't realize this was yours," he simply said. Minjae exhaled sharply and reached to pluck the item from his friend's grasp, "You're not supposed to take things that aren't yours, Junghoon!" he then handed you the item with a sheepish (almost embarrassed) look on his face, "Sorry about him, he can be peculiar." Junghoon scoffed and crossed his arms at Minjae's words, obviously dissatisfied, "Hey, at least I noticed the item before Hyunwoo hyung placed his tray on it."
Simply relieved, you hugged your wallet to your chest happily. "God, thank you for keeping it safe!" then you pat Sumin's head like how you would a puppy and lean down slightly to match his eye level, "I'll see you tomorrow at class, okay?" to which Sumin replied with his fingers that are supposed to indicate him saying 'okay' as his mouth was busy chewing. With the reply, you (once again) take your leave with a wave of goodbye and an extra enthusiastic one to Yujun who enthusiastically double-waved at you.
Once you were out of earshot, Yujun spoke up, "She's nice! How'd you know her, Sumin hyung?" "I knew her from my mandatory English class, she helps me a lot with essays but that's about it," the whole table nodded in understanding at that. But then they snapped their heads all at the same time at the sound of Seeun snickering. "What if that's the girl Hyunwoo hyung has a crush on?" Jinsik rolled his eyes and punched him lightly on the shoulder, "Pay attention dude, do you think Sumin would just use the people he knew from class as a potential match for Hyunwoo?" Seeun raised an eyebrow at his older friend challengingly, knowing full well what his defence would be, "There are endless possibilities of worlds. If you can think of it then it can exist in theory therefore anything is possible. However, nothing can exist without it being perceived by someone." And for the first time ever (since the second week of his taking his philosophy class), his response was met with nods of approval and even understanding.
"Hence, my earlier statement that things might just simply exist because there is someone to perceive them. Like the chair," as soon as those nods come, they were immediately replaced with groans and protests. Jinsik, Yechan, and Junghoon even threw their juice boxes at him.

In the next three days, there were more close run-ins that happened between you and Hyunwoo that if you both realized would've caused your heads to explode.
The first occurrence was the day after the almost run-in at the cafeteria. You were paired with Sumin for a class discussion, even spending time making a report in class. It was a complete fluke (and by that, it was most likely orchestrated by destiny) that you were paired together because neither of you had ever gotten so close, not in the several months since you both took the class. Even by the end of the class you both walked out together to discuss more on the paper that you both were supposed to submit by that night. The two of you were so into your conversation that you didn't even realize that you had left your laptop in the classroom. "Shoot! I need to go back,": you turned around and cringed at the number of people walking slowly out of the class like a herd of sheep. Sumin chuckled and shook his head at you, "You're unbelievable, kind of like my friend Hyunwoo," he chuckled. You only rolled your eyes and nudged his body with yours lightly, "You're a jerk," your bottom lip dropped into a teasing joke, "Text me later about your part?" Sumin nodded in agreement with a smile, letting you know that he will do his part of the paper before you ran off. Sumin barely took two steps forward when the person he was talking about rounded the corner and patted him on the shoulder, "Hey man, you done?" he smiled widely. "Yup, you done checking the tree?" Sumin's words almost made Hyunwoo choke on his own spit, "How'd you know about that?" it was obvious that not even Hyunwoo could hide that fact. Sumin simply smirked and wrapped his friend in a friendly hug, "We got eight other close friends, man, how long do you think you would be able to hide that fact?"
The next occurrence happened the night Hyunwoo decided that he wanted to get some midnight snacks with Yechan and Minjae who were pulling an all-nighter at their dorms. It was an impromptu decision for all of them and Hyunwoo didn't even want to go in the first place but Yujun was giving him puppy eyes and Seeun annoyed him enough that he go to get them what they wanted (which, halfway out of his dorm, it had just occurred to him that both Yujun and Seeun could've gone out themselves). At the same time, you came out of your dorm clad in a hoodie, mask, and your comfiest pyjama pants because you were feeling pissed at yourself because you hadn't found the mystery cutie. No matter where you go, no matter what you do, it had been exactly seven days since that (un)fateful day and logically speaking (and if you were to put your trust in destiny's hands), the day you would've most likely to meet him again was today on similar circumstances (because it hadn't rained). So you waited and waited but the mystery cutie never even showed so you spent two hours after class for nothing only to come home to your door opened which means that one of your roommates was in your room and you were betting on the narcissistic kleptomaniac who has been shit-talking you behind your back. You were so ready for the new semester so you, Liz, Haewon, and Rei could move in together. Near tears, you got into the convenience store to gather everything you need to calm yourself down. The three guys were already in the convenience store, talking loudly with each other, laughing and joking around and even narrowly missing you; when you were in one isle, they were in the next, when you turned to stare at the rack, they passed you, even noticing your presence but not your identity. Out of the three however, Hyunwoo was the one who noticed the hard sigh you exhaled and the times you clenched your fists when you couldn't find something or saw that it wasn't in stock. Even when he was paying for the things he bought (which were mostly Yujun and Seeun's snacks), he couldn't help but turn his head to your crouching figure in front of the instant noodles, completely oblivious that you were the person he has been looking for this past week. When you paid for your item, the cashier put something you swore you didn't pick out earlier. "Excuse me, I don't think that's mine," you pointed out, making the cashier stop her movements. But she nodded her head in the direction of the door, "The guy before bought something for you," when the bag was in your hand and you were able to reach into the plastic bag and took out what she had put. During your walk out, you couldn't help but keep staring at the lollipop that had a smiling face on its wrapper. It was stupid maybe, but you were just so happy to have gotten it and just like that your day was made.
The last occurrence happened when Hyunwoo and you decided that maybe simply standing or watching near the tree was not enough, you have to be attached to the tree. So that Friday, after your morning class, you buckled down and settled on the grass, studying (or pretending to be) as you keep a lookout. "Okay, but can we at least get you lunch?" Liz asked, smiling sympathetically at you. You shook your head but Haewon rolled her eyes and linked her arm with Liz and Rei, "We'll just get her like a kimbap or something, she's definitely going to want to eat, she's just stubborn," she teased as she walked away. As they walked away, Hyunwoo parted ways from his friends and approached the tree, eyes filled with determination to finally meet you again and this time properly talk to you. Neither of you realized that you both were on opposite sides of the tree, blissfully unaware as you occupied yourselves with working on whatever you could work on. For thirty-five minutes the both of you could hear the other typing on their laptop or writing or opening up books but both of you thought those were the sounds that came from other students from the nearby tree. You didn't even hear the sounds anymore once your friend came back and sat down around you; Liz next to you and Rei and Haewon across you. As you chew on your kimbap, all four of you chatted, well, mostly the three of them because you were keeping your eyes on the people walking nearby, waiting for the mystery cutie to pass by not knowing that he was on the other side, smiling to himself at the sound of you four being so happy and carefree. He was rather intrigued because he noticed that there was a voice that got him feeling some sort of recognition and just as he was about to take a peek, he heard someone call his name from the building. "Dude, we have a rescheduled class 10 minutes ago, what are you doing?" his classmate called out, making Hyunwoo's eyes widen in realization and quickly pack his things. "Shit, this is bad," he muttered to himself as his hands tried to shove everything in as quickly as possible. But in his clumsiness, he accidentally let his water bottle roll away to the other side of the tree without him realizing it. Just as Hyunwoo strapped his backpack on, a voice halted his movements, "Here, I think you dropped this." He looked up to see a girl holding his water bottle and he immediately nodded and took it from her hands, "Thanks, uh..." "Liz," "Yeah, thank you, Liz," he smiled at her before rushing to his class. Noticing Liz talking, you tried to peek over and saw a guy in a rather clean-looking smart outfit running off into the building. "Who's that?" Rei asked, noticing what you saw as well, "Some guy, he dropped his water bottle and I helped," Liz shrugged. "He was cute," Haewon said before she nudged you with her foot, snickering slightly, "Do you think you wanna switch mystery cutie for him?" she teased. You took one last glance at the guy (or his back since that was all you could see) and shrugged, "My mystery cutie is probably like ten times more handsome," you stated obliviously as you munched on your kimbap, fully unaware that that was actually your mystery cutie.
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Saturdays were your favourite as you have no classes and you have no responsibilities. As a university student, you didn't have much going for you nor do you have many options for entertainment. So more often than not, you utilize the campus facilities however you can. One of your favourites is the shuttle bus to the heart of the city which was not that far. Little did you know, Hyunwoo felt exactly the same way about being a student but his way of utilizing the university facilities is slightly different considering his friends are lawless hooligans.
That day, you had just gotten back from the mall with your friends and you decided to leave early because you had this feeling that you had forgotten something. Funny enough, it wasn't an umbrella because you found yourself always carrying mystery cutie's umbrella with you. Initially, it was just in case you accidentally bumped into him somewhere you didn't even think you'd bumped into him or something. Honestly after not meeting him for a whole week, you got the impression that there's a chance that he might not even be a student at the university (wrong). He could be a visiting student (wrong). Or maybe a transfer or even an international student doing a semester program (wrong). Would it be ridiculous to assume that he's a TA or even a new professor or a potential new TA or a potential new professor? (yes because it is so dumb to think that). So you went home by yourself and on the way, you realized that because you were going to be dropped off at the campus, you could maybe go around a bit to look at the campus life activity board to see if you could spot his face in the pictures there.
Meanwhile, Hyunwoo and some of his friends (Jinsik, Sumin, Junmin, and Hunter) decided that they wanted to spend some time at the gym. As active boys, it was important for them to burn energy somehow so that they wouldn't get into any trouble. Same principle as raising children. Or puppies. They have to tire themselves just enough to be obedient and not cause any mess. And it was fun or maybe just interesting to see the university that would usually be busy with the hustle and the bustle of busy busy students and their lives and their need to keep up with their schedules and ambitions. On Saturdays, Hyunwoo was able to simply appreciate the university as it is. He wasn't really sure of a university with an open concept as he would more often than not think about the practicality and even the effectiveness of it for students (other than giving something green to stare at and providing fresh air to students who spent most of their days in stuffy rooms with other students who looked just about done with studying). But he came to like the place and its concept and he was able to appreciate it even more ever since he saw you. He liked being able to find you in odd places every now and then which has now become frustrating because now that he actually wanted to meet you, you're nowhere to be seen like a Fata Morgana. Maybe he has to reach a certain level of desperation first.
Unlike the days before when he had to go to class and there was a higher chance of meeting you, Hyunwoo decided against dressing up. He let his usual flop of hair down and wore a loose sleeveless work shirt and training pants with his favourite workout shoes. It was him getting back to simplicity despite the protests of Minjae who insisted he wore an athleisure outfit which was stupid because although Hyunwoo looked absolutely amazing and he felt confident in the form-fitting shirt and parachute fabric pants, he couldn't move for shit and he was uncomfortable. So he ran out as soon as he changed so that he didn't have to listen to Minjae nagging at him for not listening.
"Are you ready to admit now?" Hyunwoo's reps on the chest machine halted at the question thrown by Sumin. "Admit what?" he asked with an eyebrow raised. Sumin dropped the dumbell he was curling before standing up and leaning next to Hyunwoo's machine, forcing the guy to strain his neck slightly to look at him, "That your little miss scattered-petal-umbrella-borrower is probably a figment of your imagination," he teased, smirking at the guy whose face scrunched into a scowl. Hunter walked by and smack his older friend on the back with a towel, "Don't be mean, Sumin hyung, Hyunwoo hyung said it happened so it must have happened," Hunter was definitely trying to back his friend up but somehow, it seemed like he wasn't. Hyunwoo couldn't help but scoff at his two friends, "Why does it seem like you guys think I'm crazy?" "Well," Junmin walked over and sat on a bench close to them, "It's not that we think you're crazy, but it kinda does feel like you're avoiding us and using this... Mysterious girl that no one has seen as an excuse," he shrugged. Jinsik came by with kettlebells and started doing his reps as he joined the conversation. "We're just worried about you, man. You usually keep to yourself, yes, but this is a whole other level. I mean, if she's real in the first place, how come you haven't found her in the past week?" he asked. In frustration, Hyunwoo groaned and threw his head back onto the padding of his station's seat, "I can't believe I'm even saying this," he then looked to the side, straight into Sumin's eyes and pointed at him, "Mystery girl is in the same English class as you."
The revelation surprised everyone but not Sumin who simply raised an eyebrow at him. "Really? She's in my class?" he scoffed and Hyunwoo nodded, "Well, did you see her last time you came by to get me after that class?" Now, that question made the others shut their gasps and exclamations of a surprise to see how Hyunwoo would react. The guy froze and his eyes darted around in slight panic, knowing full well that he didn't and that answer might come off as how his friends had insinuated before. "Uh..." Hyunwoo looked around his friends as his brain try its best to string enough words to make a sentence that makes sense. "Well..." he started out, getting more nervous even though he was only facing his friends and their stupid questions. It didn't help that all of them looked genuinely intrigued and were patiently waiting for him to say something, anything as soon as he could. Unfortunately, the pressure got to him and he didn't think twice before he stood up, surprising his friends, especially with his announcement before he ran off and out of the gym, "I think I need to run laps outside."
With that, Jinsik smacked Sumin upside the head, making the guy groan and clutch the side where he got the impact. "What was that for!?" Sumin huffed, trying to rub away the pain. Jinsik smirked teasingly at him and leaned down, "Maybe that ought to realign your crooked brain so you could think straight next time you speak," then he ran away before Sumin could reach down, grab a dumbell and throw it at him.
Hyunwoo didn't like this. He didn't like feeling negative things especially if he was doubting himself and when he felt like he was getting pissed at his friends. He knew full well that none of them meant to, none of them wanted to piss him off or make him feel bad about himself, even Sumin despite the way his words were articulated. But it just made him feel bad about himself, it made him feel stupid as if his wanting to find this mystery girl is a pointless crusade when it's not that serious. It's not like Hyunwoo is going around everywhere asking girls if they are the girl he has been looking for. For one thing, he's not the prince charming from Cinderella. And his introversion would cause his social battery to deplete after 2 interactions hence causing him to flop down on the floor like a fish out of water. He so badly needs his social battery to survive his classes and actually get grades above passing which is all dependent on class interactions. It also wasn't like he didn't want his friends' help, it was just embarrassing to admit that he has a crush on someone that he had only seen from afar. Especially admitting it to Sumin who had been nothing but nice and proactive, introducing him to different people only for him to be interested in someone Sumin hadn't introduced him to yet. Again, he was well aware that it was stupid but he couldn't help but feel like that, especially in a circumstance like this one. The circumstance is his existence as an introverted, awkward klutz.
It didn't occur to him that he had been running around the campus for a solid 20 minutes. The soft droplets of water were what snapped him out of his trance in the first place. Almost at once, more droplets of water fell from the sky, drenching his body and forcing him to run for cover. Through the thick curtain of rain, Hyunwoo could barely see anything, everything seemed blurry and the sound rendered him in a confused state as he couldn't seem to decide where to run for cover. In the midst of confusion and mess, Hyunwoo managed to slip on the slippery, muddy ground and skidded forward until his body collided with a tree. On the ground, looking up, Hyunwoo finally realized that he was actually under the cherry blossom tree where you slipped yourself over a week ago. "Are you serious?" he exhaled sharply as his eyes closed, feeling like the universe was making a mockery out of him by causing a seemingly calculated accident to further mock him of his incapabilities to find you or even to show him how you must've felt when this happened to you. Now Hyunwoo knows perfectly well what it felt to see petals scattering around you as if they wanted to mark where you landed just to make you feel even more embarrassed.
Hyunwoo was just about ready to have the ground open up and swallow him whole so he could spend an eternity muddling in his own stupidity and incapabilities. But when he failed to feel the rain on him anymore, he opened his eyes to see you crouching on top of him with your bottom lip between your teeth and his umbrella covering both of you from the rain. "Are you reenacting my accident, stranger?" you teased.
Reflexes kicking in, Hyunwoo tried to sit up quickly but ended up knocking his head with yours. Quite hard actually as it sent the both of you reeling slightly back. "Oh, God! I'm so sorry!" he panicked, forgetting about his pain momentarily to tend to you, he went as far as ignoring his own pain momentarily and even forgetting that he was an awkward klutz, surprising you when he grabbed your face gently to look at the spot that was starting to turn red from the rather harsh impact. You were blushing at this point because he was closer than you thought he would be especially considering that this was your second meeting. But he didn't seem to notice it as he was so focused on you, completely oblivious that he also had a red spot from the impact, shown from between strands of hair. Seeing this, you couldn't help but giggle at him, "Okay, damn, forget you reenacting my accident, you're just clumsy." Just the sound of you giggling was enough to make his heart skip a beat and his body freeze. He wanted to believe that it was the building anticipation that took over him and distracted him from functioning as a human being.
The sound of the rain reminded you that Hyunwoo was still drenched and that you were also at risk of getting wet. As much as you liked him holding your face, you grabbed his wrist gently which caused his eyes to shift to yours from your forehead, "We should move inside the building, we don't wanna catch a cold now, do we?" you teased. Luckily, Hyunwoo seemed to realize his position fairly quickly and stood up with you. He even took the umbrella from your hand which prompted you to take his hand instead as you led him inside the building.
Despite both of your seemingly confident and calculate moves, you both were blushing like lovestruck fools (because you both were), avoiding each other's gaze as your hearts beat out of your chests. The both of you tried to convince yourselves that it wasn't the nerves it wasn't the absolute nerve-wracking realization that you both had FINALLY found each other on a day that neither of you expected. Nope, definitely not. It was... something else completely unrelated.
Once you both got inside the building, you immediately led Hyunwoo into an empty classroom and sat him down somewhere he wouldn't feel the cold draft. Hyunwoo was just glad to see you, he was following your instruction and let you lead him, situating him wherever and however you want like a little puppy. Once he was perfectly situated, you carefully folded his umbrella after taking it from his hand and placing your bag on the seat next to him. "Okay, I think I can find some towels from the clinic office, are you fine by yourself here?" you asked, cringing slightly now that you were able to see how pitiful he looked. But despite his unfortunate-looking appearance, he was smiling brightly and nodding enthusiastically, "Yeah, I'll be fine! Don't worry," he reassured. Hearing that, you nodded and immediately dash to get the things that you needed to help him.
However, just as you were about to step out, your feet halted and you took a step back into the classroom. You turned slowly and looked at him, seemingly hesitant to leave him alone. You didn't want to be dramatic, and you really do believe that the mystery cutie you had just finally found again after so long (over a week) wouldn't just disappear on you. But still, you had JUST found him. You didn't want to leave his side.
Hyunwoo seemed to notice your hesitance. The way your eyes turned just a little sad and the way your hand gripped the door clued him into your hesitance easily. He thought it was adorable how you were acting to him, to someone you barely know. "I won't go anywhere, I'll wait for you, right here." he smiled gently at you, effectively reassuring you, allowing you to leave the room with a lighter heart and a slight spring to your step which didn't go unnoticed by Hyunwoo who chuckled and shook his head at you.
Even once your steps disappeared out in the hallway, Hyunwoo couldn't help but stare at the door with a smile still etched on his face. It took some time for him to tear his eyes away and when he finally managed to, he took notice of his umbrella that was on the desk, in front of your bag that was placed next to him. There was something on it that caught his eye. Upon closer inspection, he noticed something on the handle that looked like some kind of sticker or plastic. He took the item in his hands and pulled the handle out to see that it was a plastic wrapper, plastered just a little bit above the handle with a sellotape and the more he looked at it, the more he noticed that it looked like the wrapper of the candy he bought for someone just a couple days ago. He thought that you must've added it there yourself for some reason and while technically it was his umbrella, he wasn't mad that you put a little decoration on it. "What a weird coincidence," he chuckled.
"What's a weird coincidence?" he didn't even realize that you had returned to the room until he heard your voice. He simply waved the umbrella in his hands, "Oh no, I'm just looking at this thing in my umbrella." You quirked an eyebrow as you placed one towel on another empty desk and approached him with another one, "You like that?" you grinned while handing him a towel before pulling out a chair to sit in front of him, "Some guy bought me a lollipop candy with that wrapper a couple of days ago because I guess I looked pitiful enough that he felt sorry for me," you chuckled. When you looked up, you saw Hyunwoo staring at you with his mouth slightly agape, he had even stopped drying his hair with the towel you just handed. You took his expression as his negative reaction to hearing you talk to him about some other guy while he was simply right there like as if you were trying to show off how wanted you were. With eyes widened to saucers, you raised your hands and shook them in a panicked manner, "No, I wasn't bragging! I was just- well, I didn't even know the person! Could be a guy, could be a woman with a boyish haircut, who knows?" You honestly didn't even know why you panicked in front of him, it's not like whatever he could say or think of you would matter. He's a stranger. So why does it matter to you if he perceives you positively?
Luckily before you blabber even more, Hyunwoo shook his head which was enough to shut your mouth. "No, it's not about that, it's just... You're that person?" now you're confused. Your eyebrows knitted together and you waited for Hyunwoo to say something as additional info because that sentence made no sense yet. "I... I went to the convenience store just outside the campus dormitory with two of my friends," realizing where he was going, your eyes widened and you cut him off, "One who's a civil engineering major and another who's majoring in veterinary science." Hyunwoo's heart once again skipped a beat but he couldn't help but continue what he wanted to say, "And we... I saw someone sighing in front of the ramen so I..." Again, you cut him off, "Told the cashier to give me the smiley lollipop candy."
For a moment there, you both just stared at each other, grinning like two idiots for no reason. From what you thought was an apparent misfortune as a very cute guy saw you in such an unfortunate situation, turned out to be the craziest entanglement of fate ever. It was as if you both were meant to have so much near misses so you both could meet at exactly the right moment, the right time, and the right place. Underneath the cherry blossom tree that you first fell in love with when you were so close to hating yourself for the decision that you thought was so stupid just so he could give you a new perspective on things.
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
It was unfortunate (yet highly predictable) that Hyunwoo caught the flu after meeting you. Of course, his friend blamed him for wandering around for two hours aimlessly before coming back to the dorm and changing out of his wet clothes. For obvious reasons, Hyunwoo didn't tell his friends that he had finally met you. Not yet at least. The both of you agreed that after a week of your friends poking fun at each of you, it's best that you both got to know each other first. So you both exchanged numbers and had been texting each other quite frequently ever since. Hyunwoo's flu forced him to be on bed rest for three days which means that your plans of hanging out after class fell through. But to be honest, he was rather grateful for the situation because you have been sending him food and care packages to the dorm without him even asking. To avoid his friends' detection, he would more often than not say that he ordered takeouts for himself or that his mom sent him a care package. The closest call was on the last day when you sent him homemade soup that he deemed was a takeout he ordered but when Junmin received the package, it had a cute kitty sticky note that said 'get well right meow!" with two hearts at the end. It was at that moment Hyunwoo realized that it was a good thing he was rather agile because he had never moved that quick to steal the package from his friend's hands.
So after his bed rest, he was back to full health and was way more ready to go to the campus than he had ever been. He didn't even let Sumin or Minjae style him that day because as per the information he found out on day two, you actually loved his hair as a floppy mop of hair and his rather soft boy aesthetic; pastel cardigans, light jeans, and converses. So even with Minjae and Sumin following after him with verbal protests (Sumin) and a series of boos (Minjae), Hyunwoo was able to coast clear out the door.
You were no better. While Hyunwoo didn't specify what look he liked best on you (because in all honesty, he likes how you look no matter the clothes or style you were wearing), you put an effort into your clothes that day which rather surprised your friends. They were gawking and asking questions because it was quite a drastic change. It wasn't like you changed into Elle Woods or Sharpay Evans out of the blue but it was obvious that you paid attention to what you were wearing that day.
Both your and Hyunwoo's friend groups were rather confused at your smiling faces and your constant attention to your phones. It wasn't unusual for you to be focused on your phone, but for you to giggle at it openly? They thought you had gone mad from looking for a mystery cutie. Little did they know, you were simply feeling your feelings for him, the mystery cutie you now know as Hyunwoo.
You were walking with your friends after your last class of the day, happy that not only you were finally able to meet up with Hyunwoo after waiting for quite a while but also because you both orchestrated a surprise for both of your friend groups.
"I'm really worried for you, you haven't stopped smiling all day!" Haewon said, trying to get you to stop walking so fast and to talk to her. But you shrugged her off gently, stopping at where you had promised to meet Hyunwoo, under the cherry blossom tree where you and he each got your taste of the universe's prank. "Haewon, guys, I swear I'm totally fine!" You pause to shrug your laptop back to a more secure position on your shoulder, "I'm not being weird, okay? I'm just... Happy, I guess? Giddy, maybe," you grinned and it didn't reassure them whatsoever. Before either one of them could say anything, you heard someone calling you from behind and when you turned around, you saw Sumin, Hyunwoo, and the people Hyunwoo had introduced to you (informally by showing pictures of them and telling you their names), Yujun, (the cutie you asked to sit with you that one time, Yechan, Minjae, and Jinsik. "Oh!" Sumin grinned, walking faster to you with his arm around Hyunwoo's shoulder, completely oblivious of Hyunwoo's knowing smile. "Hey, (y/n)! How have you been?" he asked, "Good, Sumin, I'm glad our paper hasn't killed you like you said it would," Yechan and Jinsik snickered at this while Yujun tilted his head to the side and his lips widened into a large grin, "Oh, you're the girl who helped me find a sat for lunch last week!" he exclaimed. At this revelation, Hyunwoo raised an eyebrow at you but you just casually (while trying your best to be lowkey) waved him off as a sign that you would tell him later. "By the way," Sumin stepped up, bringing Hyunwoo to focus much to your surprise, "(y/n) I'd like for you to meet my good friend-"
Your friends' and his' jaws dropped hard onto the ground when they saw you grinning widely and reaching a hand out to Hyunwoo's tuft of hair. "I see you decided to FINALLY let your mop down today," you teased which made Hyunwoo chuckle. "Yeah, I know you said you liked my hair like this and look," he stepped out of Sumin's hold (to which Sumin's hand just flopped uselessly next to his body) to spread his arms wide, showing off his look, "I'm wearing a cardigan too!" You have to admit that you couldn't help but bite your bottom lip at his adorable navy and light blue heart cardigan and Hyunwoo couldn't deny that seeing you look at him like that made his chest puff out with pride. Yujun and Yechan began clambering and reaching to clutch each other when they saw Hyunwoo reaching out to grab your laptop bag from your arm and offered his elbow to you. With a tilt of his head, Hyunwoo made a show to you (and his friends for good measure) when he said, "Shall we?" to which you gratefully accepted. Before you both took off, you turned around slightly and look at Hyunwoo's friends, "Told you his mystery girl was someone from Sumin's class." And Hyunwoo took a look at your friends with the most charming smile he could muster, "Aren't you glad the things that happened to (y/n) led her to this moment?"
As you both walked away, your friends and his began erupting into exclaims of disbelief and surprise but also relief. It was absolutely priceless and you would have definitely paid to see it in slow motion and to know exactly what they thought or said when it finally dawned upon them what had just happened. Overall, you both were just glad that things worked out in the end, everything worked out perfectly fine and oddly enough they all happened in one place.
Something told you that from that day forward, you both would love that stupid cherry blossom tree.

you swung your bag back and forth, patiently waiting for the rain to stop. You weren't in a rush, infact you loved rain, but you couldn't fall sick and that meant you couldn't run to your house in the pouring weather. Slowly you were getting impatient, it didn't look like it would stop raining any time soon but you were worried as you had to study for an exam tomorrow.
As you stepped your left foot outside, a hand clutched onto your sleeve pulled you back, you tripped back landing onto the guys hold. Looking up your face goes read. 'he's really handsome' you thought before brushing yourself off him. "Take my umbrella, your attendance is already pretty low so you don't want to catch a cold and miss tomorrows exam" he smiled as he forwarded the violet coloured umbrella towards you. You shook your head, rejecting his offer as your hands push it towards him. "You should go home first, your the top ranker in our class and I don't want your rank to come low tomorrow" you say with your head hung low, you weren't embarrassed rather you were shy.
you lift your head to a chuckle, "i didn't know you noticed me or my marks?" He spoke with a slight hint of shyness in his tone. You smiled and spoke nothing else.
Papungkorn Lertkiatdamrong, the thai exchange student that had every girl swoon over the sight of him, including you.
you were on your way to the gym area to meet your friends, that was until your eyes caught an unfamiliar face. You didn't notice you were smiling at him, your feet wandered to your friends, but your attention was on him. Suddenly everyone's attention was on you and you found yourself on the floor, running your head that had hit the wall. You glared at your friends giggling at you, you stood up, still glaring at your friends who were holding back giggles and teases. You look back at the new guy who was smiling warmly at you, holding out his thumb while mouthing 'you ok?' to which you nodded. his smile was cute you thought, the entire time your eyes were on him, secretly falling for him. From then on you always looked forward for the classes you had with him.
after a long persuasive session with your friends, you finally admitted you fell for the new cute guy.
you found yourself holding the metal rod of the umbrella, his hand over yours. "Then we'll go together" he smiled. Oh how lovely he looked, his cheeks were rosy, his eyes looked at you with such adornment, the corners of his lips lifted, he was prettier than anyone you've come across.
he waved, still waiting by the gate to your apartment until you disappeared from sight, only then would he leave. You closed the door, sliding down and hiding your face in your palms, kicking your feet even. confused at this new feeling, but you liked how happy it made you, how warm and fuzzy it felt.
you whip out your phone to text your best friend junghoon, forcing asking him to come early so that you could spill the tea.
unaware to you, hunter felt the same.
the next day at school, you waited at your classroom, your feet tapped onto the floor impatiently, glancing at the clock and your texts between you and your bestfriend. You finally look behind you and smiled at the tired boy standing at the door frame behind your desk. your hands flapped excitedly as you welcome him with a hug.
"What is it that you wanted to tell me?" Junghoon asks as he drops his bag beside a desk. You were about to speak when you heard the bell and soon the hallways and the classroom was filled with the sound of students shuffling through to find their respective classes and seats. you whisper to him that you'd tell him later. Before junghoon left to his class, you gave him a last hug. Unaware of the boy that stood watching you two, he slightly frowned as he pulled his chair out and sat with a groan.
As soon as your test was over you turned over to look at hunter, or atleast that's what his friends called him, but your heart dropped as he silently walked out. you quickly pack your things, mindlessly shoving everything into the bag and forcing it shut before running out. Stopping in your tracks as you see another girl talking to him. She was a grade lower to you, also a Thai exchange student. You frowned at how he smiled so wide at her, how she playfully hit his shoulder and how he would laugh along with her. His laugh always made you happy, but you feel the opposite today.
your feet retracted to your class, pulling back your chair and plopping down, almost hitting your forehead over the wooden desk if it weren't for junghoons hands holding your forehead away. "You don't look so good" he states as a matter of fact. He turns to the call of his group of friends, hunter being one among them, peeping at your sudden devastated state, as if you've broken up with your 10 year boyfriend. once the sound of the boys chatting grew faint, you plopped forward again, only this time you hit your head. You groaned, rubbing your slightly red forehead.
"Do you like hitting your head when I'm around" hunter jokes as he pulls the chair infront of your desk, smiling at you. "Why are you here?" You questioned as he dramatically gasps, "someone's not happy that I'm here" you sigh as the picture of him and the other girl smiling at each other and looking at each other all lovely dovey flashed into your mind. "Don't you have to talk to Hansa or something?" He looks at you with a questioned look, laughing minutes later when he realised you were jealous. Hunter stands up and ruffles your hair before forwarding a folded paper slip towards you before running away.
Your heart flutters at the series of numbers and a 'by your hunter ;)'
"Good lord weren't you sulking minutes ago? Now your giggling and kicking your feet???" Junghoon questions, a slight smirk on his face. Atleast he's saved from having to listen to his bestfriend rant about how miserable her life was because of a certain guy that had papungkorn as his name. "LOOK!" you SQUEALED- as you waved the chit over the cat like boys face, it took him a minute to register until his head perked up, smiling at you, "your hunter~~" he teases as you shove him aside, resting your feet onto the seat of the chair as you giggle into your palms, squealing as junghoon laughs at you. he smiles as you continue to ramble on how precious he was and how you loved him so much and shamelessly face planted for him. How his eyes were sparkling, how his energy always reminded you of those small golden retriever puppies, how his smile meant the whole world to you. He looks up at the taller guy standing right behind you guys, his gaze averting everywhere else except on you as he scratched the back of his head shyly. Junghoon smiled more as he looked at you chanting over and over again on how much you loved hunter in between your giggles while keeping your face still hidden under your palms. He slowly gets up, nodding at the brown haired boy before slowly leaving without you noticing.
You on the other hand noticed how there wasn't any response, your best friend was quiet but he was being waay too quiet right now. You peeked over your fingers only to be met with an empty desk. You gasp as you correct your position, mentally cursing at the poor boy, you stand up and take your bags, ready to leave the classroom and give kim junghoon an hours lecture on how this certain papungkorn guy was the loml and how he SHOULD hear you rant over how this boy meant so much to you. You turn around only to face hunter. Your face flushes red, hoping he didn't hear anything. Much to your avail.
"Hi" you awkwardly wave, before you knew it, you were engulfed in a hug. your hands wrapped around his torso, patting him. You didn't know what was going on but you felt warm, you felt safe in his hold. You never wanted to let go of his hold.
"I love you too." He whispers into your ear as his holda you tighter, as if he was afraid that you would slip out of his hands if he let you go. Rocking you side to side, you buried your face into his jacket. hunter found his jacket develop a wet patch especially in his shoulder area, he breaks the hug as he looks at your tear stained cheeks, his fingers caress your cheek, wiping away the tears, slowly panicking and questioning himself if he did anything wrong. "I swear I don't know why I'm crying either" you state as you continue to ramble again on how you loved him so much and for him to return feelings was not what you expected and you were just overwhelmed, before you could finish, a soft pair of lips were on yours. his hands still cupped your face, caressing your cheek lovingly as he smiles into the kiss. your ames unconsciously wrap around his neck as you smile into the kiss as well. you pull away first to catch air as he connects your forehead together.
"I love you so much y/n. You were always the girl I had my eyes on and it will always be you in every universe."

[8.07] dad!mingi × baby!sumin × baby!seeun (ft. uncles!ateez, dad!hongjoong and baby!minjae)
⇀ mingi really is that dad. an enabler dad.
⇁ i ended up writing this after mulling over it for a long ass while (not really but still, long enough) and at this point brat brigade's spam section is my baby!xikers dumping ground. but lookie @flowerboykun i wrote this idea !
⇁ disclaimer : the author is not forcing any ideas or form of relationship between irl characters. this fic is specifically for entertainment purposes
wc : 1.8 k
genre : fluff, dad!au, baby!au
When you first found out that you were pregnant, your first thought went straight to how much fun you'll have dressing your daughter up. Then you found out you were having a boy and Mingi immediately cried because now he can have his twin. Then the second time you got pregnant, you were still hoping to have a girl to dress in frilly clothes and shove the fact that now you have your own twin to Mingi's face. But that day, in the doctor's office, with Mingi and Sumin with his custom baby Gucci beret in his arms, you found out that you were having another boy. It wasn't like you don't want your children, it was just that you know having two boys means that Mingi's going to have so much fun coordinating both boys' outfits.
So now, when Sumin and Seeun reached 5 and 4 years old respectively, you weren't even surprised that Mingi had dedicated a whole Instagram page to document the daily outfits that he coordinated for them. As pissy as you were that you couldn't dress your daughter in pink tutus or sparkly tops, you have to admit that they looked absolutely precious in the outfit their dad had so passionately picked for them.
Sumin is almost always dressed in how Mingi would be dressed on stage, a muted version of his flashy fashion while Seeun is more often than not dressed as a sporty-casual Mingi. They have their own unique styles, of course, but Mingi would always make sure that whenever they go out, people will IMMEDIATELY recognize them as siblings. And now, he had (somehow) managed to rope you into coordinating outfits as a family which you (and Seonghwa as the eldest representative) had limited to special events only because people (Wooyoung) began teasing you both by using the pictures you posted on Instagram and photoshopping them on advertisements (the worst one was for a hemorrhoid cream) which annoyed you (you taking his old as fuck Bathing Ape jacket and threatening to rip it to shreds and use them to wipe your children's snots). Nevertheless, both brothers love being dressed up by their dads so much and you were absolutely grateful for the fact that they never fought over who gets to wear what when, it had always been civil between them and they even do this bit of commenting on each other's outfits just before they go out. It's safe to say that at ages 5 and 4, they can differentiate between Houndstooth and Glen Check, and which is Louis Vuitton and which is Gucci. Yeah, your babies are SPOILED by their dad.
Their taste develops at such a young age that nowadays, they have begun to accessorise themselves. Sumin has been quite into sunglasses lately, even at night, he'd try to wear his dad's sunglasses on top of his head that just ended up falling over his face so Mingi bought him his first Gentle Monster that he adored to pieces. Seeun, on the other hand, has been into hats as of late, particularly bucket hats. It started when you put one on him as he was going to the mall to have fun with his uncle Yunho and cousin Jinsik, and he came home buzzing with excitement and refusing to take his hat off, so he asked you and Mingi to take him to get more hats the next day (he took mostly buckets, of course).
Knowing how important impressions are to your boys, you were rather reluctant to leave them for their first day of pre-K and kindergarten because you were called to the newly established branch of your company in Gyeongsangnam-do. While Seeun cried freely into your chest, Sumin tried to pack himself into your luggage. Thankfully, you were able to compromise with the boys by letting them wear whatever they want for their first day in a new environment and that they would be able to send you pictures and videos as much as they wanted. You thought that there would be no harm done and Mingi would make sure that both boys can freely express themselves within the guidelines. With teary eyes and quivering lips, both boys spent a whole 15 minutes hugging you until you have to go.
So the next day, Mingi arrived with his boys in front of the school and as soon as they got out of the car, Seeun and Sumin rushed to the steps and posed, beyond excited. "Come on, dad! Take a picture!" Sumin called out as he adjusted Seeun's hat so the front flap doesn't cover his eyes. "Coming!" Mingi grinned widely and immediately crouched down a little bit farther away from the two boys with his phone aimed at them, "Now, give mommy a big, big smile and a big pose!"
Clad in blue and white, both boys were grinning widely, very much happy with the outfit that they were adorning. Keeping with the twinning theme, Sumin had a white long-sleeved shirt paired with knee-length light blue shorts, colourful crew socks that he picked out himself, and original white Adidas with black stripes. To top the look off, he had his sunglasses on top of his head as a fashion statement. Meanwhile, Seeun was wearing a white t-shirt with a light blue puffer vest, matching knee-length shorts and matching bucket hat, crew socks, and original black vans. To top it all off, both boys were wearing different black bags; Sumin with his messenger bag and Seeun with his backpack. Parents walking past them genuinely thought that the boys were celebrity children which was technically true since their dad is an idol but they themselves also seemed like tv personalities with how confident they were in front of the camera and they were dressed too fashionably for a day in school.
When Sumin and Seeun had their fill of posing and taking pictures, Mingi shot you a quick text with a picture of your boys before jogging to his boys who grabbed his hands upon contact. "Okay, it's a big big day for Seeunnie here, so please listen to your teacher for everything. That goes to you too, Sumin, Okay?" Mingi eyed the two boys who were staring up at him intently, "I can't have mommy getting a call saying that you stuck a crayon up your nose again like your first day in Pre-K," Mingi squinted his eyes at the eldest boy who whined and stomped his feet in embarrassment at the mention of his accident while his younger brother snorted at him. Some parents were rushing to get their kids in but the Song boys were enjoying their leisure walk as the family head told them how to conduct themselves. Seeun was looking up at his dad, listening carefully while Sumin was kicking pebbles along the path whilst maintaining hand-holding with Mingi.
Just as the boys were about to reach the entrance of the school, a teacher came approaching with a smile on her face. "Why hello there!" she greeted as she crouched down in front of the boys which made Sumin's smile drop and Seeun stepped back and hid behind one of Mingi's legs, "I see that you two are ready for school, huh? Look at your clothes!" The compliments she was giving made Sumin puff up his chest proudly as Seeun took half a step forward to look at the teacher curiously. "I love your outfits so much, however, we don't allow accessories like hats and sunglasses in our classes," the teacher's eyes peered up to Mingi as if seeking his help to remove the items from his kids and hopefully take him home with him.
Hearing that they couldn't wear their accessories, Sumin and Seeun whipped their heads to Mingi with the saddest face ever. Mingi, however, didn't even need the push from his sons to step up for them. "Why not?" he asked without sparing a second. The teacher seemed taken aback, not expecting that a parent would question the rules that have been established for a long time in the school. "Because... It's an accessory sir, it's not part of the outfit guidelines for the students," if she thought that would just drop it, she was sorely mistaken. Mingi looked around at the other kids that were starting to arrive and noticed some little girls with accessories on them which he pointed at with his chin, "I don't think I read anything about bead bracelets, necklaces, and earrings," he shrugged. To anyone who didn't know him, it might seem like Mingi was being annoying or unreasonable but in reality, Mingi was simply being inquisitive. The teacher seemed stunned because he did have a point but at the same time, no one has ever raised an issue or even just a question about female students wearing accessories before. "Uh... I mean..." Truly, she was stumped but she had to answer because she was supposed to have an answer, "W-well, the accessories the boys wear could be dangerous as things like your son's sunglasses could poke other children in the eyes and no one is allowed to wear hats in class." Hearing their accessories being mentioned, both children grabbed the items mentioned as if to not let anyone take them away. "Yeah, but... Why? I don't see any problem if my boys are not gonna distract any children with their accessories or disturb the class. If anything, those glass ball thingies in those girls' hair ties could potentially blind other children if they snapped or the necklaces they wore could break, fall into a student's drinking cup and choke on it."
Just as the teacher was about to answer, two people came and stopped where they stood still. She didn't know whether it was a good or a bad thing, though. "What are you guys doing here?" Hongjoong asked with an eyebrow raised, Minjae on his side on his iPad with his headphones on. Both Sumin and Seeun immediately beamed and rushed to hug their uncle Joongie tightly, greeting him with muffled voices. "The teacher said Sumin can't wear his sunglasses and Seeun can't wear his bucket hat," Mingi sighed, shrugging his shoulders in confusion. Hongjoong furrowed his eyebrows and planted his hands on his hips, "What do you mean they can't wear their sunglasses and bucket hat?" The teacher was about to answer when Mingi answered for her instead, "Well she said those items could hurt other children?" To which Hongjoong replied with a scoff and his arms crossed over his chest, "And those tiny catapults in the girls' hair couldn't?" In agreement, Mingi clapped his hands together, "Thank you!"
It seemed like both fathers were so into their conversations that they didn't realize the kids were looking at each other. Minjae pulled his headphone down and tucked his iPad into his bag securely before taking both of Sumin and Seeun's hands into his. He stepped up to the dumbfounded teacher (who looked like she was about to cry) and spoke, "We'll be getting to class first, miss, we'll be late," he smiled widely before bowing and walking away with Sumin and Seeun in tow, not even giving a chance for the teacher to tell him that he was not supposed to bring electronics into class and that Sumin and Seeun were still not supposed to wear their accessories.
This issue could be resolved, right?

After school hours, as parents tend to work longer hours or be busy until a little later, the school provides daycare until as late as 7 pm. Ten close-knitted children found themselves herded into a big classroom by their teachers because their parents were not going to be able to pick them up until later that day. As children of celebrities, this is not a rare occurrence nor is it a daily occurrence for them as schedules tend to change depending on their parents' availabilities. They had no problem with this, however, as they know what cool jobs their parents do for a living and they love spending time together. So even for Yechan who was merely 3 years old, they all were able to adapt to being in daycare rather quickly.
Right off the bat, after they all placed their belongings like school bags and the teachers helped the babies (Yechan and a struggling Yujun and Hunter) store their items in the cubbies, the children were assisted to have their lunch as per the program. The ten children really liked having their lunch at school as they got to eat together and spent their time with other school staff like the lunch ladies and even the groundskeeper when they spend time outside after lunch. Once back indoors after an hour of playing, the children grouped themselves with some others in a manner of activities that they shared their interests in. Sumin, Hunter, and Hyunwoo spent time colouring and drawing in one corner, Junmin, Seeun, Jinsik, and Yujun were doing physical activities like dancing and playing games, while Minjae, Junghoon, and baby Yechan are playing legos (Minjae and Junghoon are, Yechan was just holding onto one piece and staring at the two older boys in awe).
The teachers had yet to have any problems with the boys, as they were in fact the least of their teachers' problems. Compared to glue eaters, serial wet willy givers, booger wipers, and swing pushers, the boys' noise and occasional messiness when they're playing are not even a little bit of a problem. At most, the teachers would simply have to separate one child from another and even then, the same children would find themselves crawling back to each other, playing as if nothing had happened not ten minutes later. So days like this, days where the children sit around and play whatever it is that they wanna play together with their friends are not rare but still not underappreciated.
One of the more senior teachers, Sunmi, was tasked to handle the daycare that day which she usually does so happily, but this was the first time she had to handle the group. Nevertheless, she got into the classroom with a big smile and enthusiasm. "Hi, everyone!" she greeted after closing the door of the classroom. Hearing the familiar voice, Yechan snapped his head towards Sunmi and immediately dropped the Lego piece he was holding before bracing himself and making a run for to woman by the door, surprising Junghoon who had a hand forward, waiting for Yechan to hand him a piece of lego block. The little giggly baby was thankfully caught by Sunmi who propped him on her hip as soon as he was in her arms, used to him acting like that from the times she had taken care of his baby class. Yechan was followed by Yujun and Hunter who looked up at her with big eyes, "Are you gonna play with us, miss?" Yujun asked with a tilt of his head to which Sunmi answered with an enthusiastic nod of her head, "yes! I'm here to play and accompany you all until your parents get here! Now, who wants to tell me what they've been doing?"
Soon enough, Sunmi went around the room asking the boys what they have been doing until she got there (with Yechan stuck on her side be it in her arms, hugging her leg, or just tailing behind quietly). Other than Yechan whom she already had the pleasure of interacting with beforehand, Sunmi was able to know what each boy was like and who they were close with. Of course, the most questionable one in her opinion was Junghoon because he barely reacted to her and when asked, he said that he was making a ship that can help him survive another great flood. It was a simple flat surface. But she was grateful to see that Hyunwoo seemed to understand him well (maybe even enabled him). She also saw how Junmin was able to care for his younger friends while doing his own thing like telling Seeun to be careful as he almost kicked his brother Sumin in the face (and disproved how Sumin said "I can just kick him back"). The diversity of how the children played together was fun to see, no one was stuck on their phones and to Sunmi it was refreshing to see.
When she finished her rounds in the classroom, Sunmi noticed Minjae's work was slowly taking shape and she immediately realized what Minjae was trying to make. "Oh, lookie! Are you trying to make a castle, here, Minjae?" she asked as she crouched down, prompting Yechan to move around her and sat next to Minjae with eyes glimmering with interest. Minjae, not looking up from his creation, nodded quickly and confidently, "Yes, this is the princess's balcony," he pointed to the spot where he just finished. It was genuinely amazing to see such a young child be able to make an actual creation. Without thinking much, Sunmi pat Minjae's head and smiled gently, "I hope I can see the end result," as she wanted to show genuine interest and appreciation for what he was doing.
Time flew while she was on duty, spending time getting to know and interacting with the children. Soon enough, it was snack time for the children and Sunmi immediately took notice, not wanting the children to go hungry as they tend to use a lot of their energy. Sunmi clapped her hands to get the attention of the children. "Come on children, it's time for your snack!" she called out as she headed to the door to get the snack crates that would usually be placed by the door for the teachers to take. Knowing that the school usually gives out two crates, one for the snack and another for the milk, Jinsik, Sumin, and Hyunwoo jumped from their seats and rush to Sunmi's side to help her. Meanwhile, Junmin called his friends and got them ready in a line with the help of Yechan who just parrotted what Junmin said from the front of the line (as he was the tiniest and the most likely to create havoc in the back with Seeun or Junghoon). "Okay, Yechannie, can you help me give the milk away to your hyungs?" Sunmi asked the little boy as she helped Hyunwoo and Jinsik pull the heavier milk crate all the way to where the line started while Sumin pushed the lighter sandwich crate until it hit the milk crate.
Yechan was already holding onto his carton of milk when Sunmi spoke to him, asking him to help give out the milk to his friends and he immediately looked between his milk carton, the milk crate, and his friends. "Uh... Uh..." he hesitated for a bit, looking confused which didn't go unnoticed by Sunmi who crouched in front of him, "What is it, Yechannie? Are the cartons too heavy for you?" She asked, genuinely concerned about him. Yechan simply shook his head and placed his milk carton aside, "No, Yechannie can," he stated determinedly before taking three cartons in his arms and began walking to his friends and telling them to take one from his arms and doing it all over again until all of them got their milk. Sunmi was happy to see that everyone was getting along and even helping her out. It wasn't until Yechan finished handing out the milk cartons and the boys finished getting their sandwiches that she noticed there was one of each left. "Who hasn't gotten their snacks?" she asked, stopping the boys as they were about to sit down in the middle together to share their food.
Sunmi suddenly felt a tug on her shirt and saw that Hunter was the one seeking her attention. "Miss, Minjae hyung is still playing," he said as he pointed to the eldest, still busy with his legos which had had some features added since the last time Sunmi went to check on him. While it was impressive, to say the least, Sunmi also knew that the boys needed to have their snacks on schedule so they would be used to having a regulated eating schedule. It seemed like the boy was completely oblivious to what everyone was doing, however, simply minding his own business with absolutely no care in the world. Even when the children are bustling around, running near him with their food and drink, Minjae didn't even bat an eye which made Sunmi worry.
"Minjae-ah," Sunmi called out to him which luckily he noticed and shifted his big eyes from his work to Sunmi, "Do you think you can join us here for a minute?" she asked as sweetly as she can, not wanting to upset the boy. Luckily for her, Minjae simply blinked and looked between her, his work, and his friends before he noticed that it was indeed snack time. So he nodded and paused his construction to approach Sunmi with small yet quick steps. "'m sorry miss, I was making the castle's courtyard," he said with lips pursing slightly and eyes glancing at her from his bangs. Of course, Sunmi couldn't fault him, he was just so excited about creating something and she did say she wanted to see the end result so maybe hearing that, he became more eager to finish to show her that he was able to deliver. Sunmi simply smiled and shook her head at him, scooting closer to where he was standing to pat him on the head, "Don't worry about it, okay? I'm just glad you're enjoying yourself and you're joining us for snacks." Minjae visibly beamed upon hearing that, a wide grin plagued the boy's face before he nodded and skipped along to where his other friends were.
Seeing the children getting along and being able to follow instructions well made Sunmi's chest swell with pride. Looking at them in their big circle, Sunmi realized that they were so close to each other and they love and cared for each other. Maybe that was what made her duty so easy to handle.
That was until a cry broke the happy bubble and Sunmi heard one of the children yell for her attention. "Miss Sunmi, Jinsik hyung poked his nose with the straw!" Yujun called out before taking a munch of his sandwich as the other children watched Jinsik hold his nose while crying. "Seeun pushed my milk!" Jinsik yelled, still crying. "No, I didn't!" Seeun defended with quivering lips and within no time, he too began crying from the accusation which caused his brother Sumin to whip his head and rushed over to tower over Jinsik and ask if he made his brother cry. This was met with Jinsik, who was still in pain, pushing Sumin away which made him stumble and bumped into Hyunwoo, causing him to accidentally splash some of his milk onto Junghoon who froze (or seem like he froze). Chaos ensued and the once-calm room turned into a state of dystopia.
Perhaps Sunmi spoke too soon.

⇀ bus crush gone wrong
⇁ TIS THE JUNGHOON IDEA I SUDDENLY GOT @flowerboykun YOU DID THIS !!!! YOU ENABLED ME !!! TAKE RESPONSIBILITIES !!!!
wc : 2.3 k
genre : fluff, high school au
buy me coffee ??
For reasons your friends don't know, you've always liked taking the bus. Some would say those buses are too packed, too many creeps around, and too suffocating no matter the time or day, but not you. Maybe it's because your school and hakwon are rather close so you didn't have to ride the bus long, maybe it's because your bus is usually isn't as packed as the others. Or maybe it's the cutie from your hakwon who you share your bus with.
It might be creepy-adjacent for you to be gawking at him every now and then but how could you not? You've seen him around with some of his friends, some from the grade above and some in the same grade as he. You've seen them running around to and in the hakwon before the class starts or after as they rush out to the bunsik stand at the corner or to an arcade. Not much is known about him as you both don't share the same class other than the fact that his name is Kim Junghoon and he was from a school near yours and they dismiss their students around the same time as yours so you get to wait at the bus stop with him, ride the bus with him, and go to the same hakwon as him.
So it wasn't even surprising to see Junghoon at the bus stop before you did. He was sitting on the bench casually with his headphones on. You were curious about the kinds of music he likes but you had no way to know or even to ask if you could know because let's be honest, the man looks unapproachable. So you settled with just looking at him from afar.
Once the bus arrived, Junghoon and the other few people at the bus stop got into the bus first before you did which was a wrong move on your part. When you got in, you realized that the bus was more packed than before, so instead of going to your usual seat, you were stuck standing. Luckily enough, you were able to stand next to Junghoon who barely noticed your presence anyways so you settled with standing right next to his seat with your body facing the front of the bus. During the ride, he was busy playing on his phone as he would usually do but from where you were, you were able to take several accidental peeks at what he was doing on it like playing this cat games and texting his friend group or his mom which was absolutely surprising and adorable because he wasn't even texting her with just one or two words but a full-blown two paragraph detailing what he did, what he ate and what he planned on eating after hakwon.
When the bus arrived at its next stop, more people got in and only three people got off. Now you were starting to understand why your friends hate the bus. People were shoulder to shoulder with each other but there was still space to breathe. Unfortunately, as the bus started driving, one dumbass decided that he didn't want to be in the middle back side of the bus and he started moving forward which caused other people and you to shift around awkwardly. It wasn't until the bus slowed down at a red light that you lost your balance and before you could stop yourself, you fell on Junghoon's lap.
For a moment, your body froze in the same position and with eyes wide staring across you in absolute shock. Slowly, with fear running up your spine, you turned to look at Junghoon who was simply looking at you with a blank expression, seemingly unfazed by the surprising turn of events. You thought you could skate by, apologize and just move far away from him as you curse yourself for thinking that standing next to him was a good thing. God, you wanted the ground to open up and swallow you whole.
However, Junghoon opened his mouth before you could do anything.
"Can you move?"
Chills ran up your spine from hearing his voice but also from the dreaded realization that he had just said something that the whole bus heard loud and clear. The way the words were phrased made it seem like he was annoyed by what happened even though it was by accident. Embarrassment punched you in the gut and suddenly it felt like everyone was staring and snickering at you and you know you shouldn't feel as bad because it was definitely an accident, you didn't want it to happen but it did and there was nothing you can do to undo the unfortunate accident.
The bus suddenly came to a full stop at another bus stop which was only two stops away from your usual stop to your hakwon. But you didn't care about going to hakwon anymore. You simply muttered a soft 'sorry' to Junghoon and dashed off without looking back. Had you looked back, however, you would realize that Junghoon was taken aback by your reaction to him asking you to move. You ran past the bus stop, not really knowing where to go but you stopped once you rounded a corner to crouch down and let the horror sink in. You had absolutely no idea how you were able to have possibly one of the best but at the same time one of the worst days ever, the notion was beyond you but it did happen and it sucks. Without thinking twice, you covered your face with your arms and let out the stress away with a muffled scream, completely oblivious that the bus you rode passed by behind you and that there was a pair of eyes watching you until the vehicle drove off.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
For the next couple of days, you decided to avoid Junghoon altogether. You didn't even went to hakwon the day you fell on him which promoted the hakwon to call your mom asking about your attendance which then got you scolded for skipping. Although, when you told her what happened, her anger slipped slightly and while she still scolded you for skipping, she completely understood the fear and within two hours, you both were able to have a more logical conversation about coping strategies that don't involve running away and skipping your responsibilities. One of them was taking the bus before or after him and since before was not an option, you were forced to take the bus after the one you usually take. But the unfortunate thing about that plan was arriving at your hakwon late and receiving a tardiness notice twice for both days you tried getting on the later bus. The shitty thing about your hakwon was that the third notice of the semester means that they would check you absent on your attendance record and that might ruin your chance of getting into the good CSAT prep class and you just couldn't risk that.
So you found yourself on the third day taking your usual bus with dread in your gut, making it seem like you wanted to puke. It was horrible and even more so because it seemed like you were being beyond paranoid for actively trying to avoid Junghoon. You hated the feeling. In fact, you absolutely detest it. So you decided to not even wait at the bus stop at the risk of having Junghoon see you and maybe it was just your fear but you did not want him to announce to the whole bus stop that you fell on him three days ago. Heck, you even wore a hoodie to cover your uniform in case he remembered. So you just kept to yourself a little further away without even checking if Junghoon was there until the bus arrived. Even then, you made sure to get in a little later than everyone else, a couple moments before the door closes even. Rushing to the back and passing Junghoon in his seat.
Or, someone who you thought was Junghoon.
Because just as the door closes, a figure slipped in and looked around before he made eye contact with you. Your eyes widened and almost immediately you wanted to jump out the window or move away to a more secure location on the bus (which let's be honest, doesn't exist because it's a bus and not a fallout bunker). Not wanting to be thought of as a jittery freak by other passengers, you planted your feet firmly and just let Junghoon approach you like some kind of animal. It was surprising, to say the least when he stopped right in front of you and suddenly changed the position of his backpack from his back to his front, covering his chest. Then he did something that made your heart skip a beat from fear, nerves, and uncertainty, he used both of his hands to hold onto the overhead handgrips, making you even more nervous than you already were for no reason.
The first five minutes were the worst, you think. You wanted to get your earphones and watch videos on your phone but you were overthinking everything so much that you were unable to do anything other than look down at your foot. You don't know what exactly was Junghoon doing or what he was thinking when he suddenly appeared in front of you like that. Though you don't know if you wanna find out because what if this was his revenge for making him uncomfortable several days prior? Whatever it is, you simply wanted to coast through this ride before possibly disappearing off the face of the earth leaving the legacy of the history of your embarrassment. Should be fun, right?
But of course, your body betrayed you when the SAME red light caused the bus to slow to a stop and as expected, you stumbled and fell onto Junghoon, or more likely his bag.
"So you're just clumsy, huh? Here I thought that was just your way of introducing yourself to me,"
The speed of your head snapping up to him was enough to give you a whiplash. You were surprised that he was smirking down at you playfully, teasingly even. Or was it just your imagination? Was he mocking you?
Once again, the bus stopped at the next stop which was the stop you got off and ran out to several days prior. But this time, even with Junghoon teasing you, you made no move to get off which, not that you realize nor know, Junghoon was glad for. As people boarded the vehicle, Junghoon shifted which made you press your back to the seat next to you out of surprise. From his initial position of simply being in front of you, he had now moved to your side slightly and he moved one of his hands to grip the overhead handgrips so that he was completely covering you from other people. It wasn't like the bus was packed or anything, so what was he covering you from?
"I... Noticed you weren't on the bus these past two days but you were at the hakwon," he started, which made you cringe at his realization of your existence around him. Had you looked up, you would've seen Junghoon cringing at how he phrased his words. Maybe he should listen more to Minjae when he said he needs to brush up on his vocabulary and communication skills because as the man said, Junghoon has the same communication and social skill as a raccoon. "I-I mean, I usually see you on the bus before hakwon but you weren't there but then I see you at the hakwon during breaks so I was... Confused," you looked up to him in curiosity to see that he was avoiding your general area in favour of looking to the side and you even noticed that there was a slight tint of red on his cheeks which made you double-take just to make sure. Never would you have guessed that he was capable of being so devastatingly adorable that it made you bite back a smile. "You... Take notice of me?" you asked, slowly becoming braver due to your curiosity about him. Junghoon glanced back at you only to see you looking at him with eyes that made his heart skip a beat and a lump form in his throat. He nodded slowly at your question, however, "Kind of," lies, he DEFINITELY notice how you always sit in the middle of the row and on the right side of the room in your hakwon classroom. He DEFINITELY noticed the fact that you don't usually snack on your way to hakwon but you would sometimes swing by the convenience store to get your favourite drink and no matter the weather or day, you would more often than not drink the same thing. He DEFINITELY noticed how you're just a naturally kind person, always considerate of others without even having to try. Yeah, he didn't 'kind of' notice you.
At the revelation that he might have (definitely) noticed you, you couldn't help but stand a little taller and took a half step closer to him. Your initial embarrassment and need to evade him were completely gone and your love of taking the bus was renewed.
Moreover, Junghoon leaned even closer to you and let you slightly rest your weight on his arm, he was trying to be as discreet as possible but you couldn't help but notice what he was doing. Knowing that the both of you were still slightly awkward slightly with each other, you decided to not point it out and just enjoy the closeness with him.
"D-do you think I can accompany you to the bus stop after hakwon?" he asked in a soft voice.
Yeah, bus stops are great. People who said otherwise don't know what they were talking about.

[12:24] dad!hongjoong × baby!minjae (ft. mom!reader)
⇀ having a big family, natural or chosen, could be a blessing or a curse. or both. this time ? hongjoong would rather not choose and just work. his son however, has another idea in mind
⇁ another installment of the baby xikers series finally written after an impromptu discussion about the children and their uncle wooyoung with @starlitmark LMAO LOOKIE I FINALLY WROTE THIS
wc : 1.2 k
genre : fluff ? slice of life ?? baby!xikers, dad!ateez
It had been weeks since the big incident and Hongjoong feared his son had started to catch on the situation the parents put Wooyoung in. Or something along the line.
Two and a half weeks ago, Wooyoung took the children to the Seodaemun Museum of Natural History for an educational day. Or so he claimed because not two hours since Wooyoung sent a selfie of him and the kids at the museum entrance to the friend group chat did all of them receive a call to come collect their children (in which Wooyoung's wife was told to collect all three of hers; Junghoon, Hunter, and of course, Wooyoung). Apparently, Wooyoung had told them that they couldn't play with any of the displays which the children took as a challenge rather than a warning. Seeun, Yujun, Minjae, and Sumin tried to get on the Acrocanthosaurus display while Hyunwoo and Hunter took off their shoes and dipped their toes in the Han River section of the Nature Hall to play with the fishies and Junmin, Jinsik, Junghoon, and Yechan somehow got inside the forest ecosystem display. It would have been an easy issue to handle and even let slide had Wooyoung not stood by and taken a video of everything whilst cackling rather than trying to get everyone to stop. After that, the parents rounded together and agreed that Wooyoung was to be put under an indefinite playdate hosting and attendance ban.
Unfortunately, the children were not told of this development as some were still grounded by their parents and some were known to love their Uncle Wooyoung so they'd probably get upset. It took them a while to even notice that suddenly they were not being taken to their Uncle Wooyoung's for playdates nor did their Uncle Wooyoung show up to chaperone.
The first to be told was Jinsik because his dad, Yunho, had given up trying to cover up the issue (literally 20 minutes after Jinsik started asking) and by the time the children were being picked up from playdate at Uncle Jongho's, they were all informed and began protesting in their own ways.
It was safe to say that for the past three days Hongjoong was stuck with Minjae who turned into melted cheese as a form of protest.
"Kim Minjae," Hongjoong called out sternly towards his son who sprawled himself on top of his work bag on his bed. Hongjoong had taken a short shower when he got home only to be met with Minjae groaning and moaning like a stranded starfish on top of his work stuff. Despite being called, Minjae didn't answer and just continued moaning like an injured cat. "Kim Minjae," Hongjoong huffed again, "Please get off my work bag, you'll crush my laptop," he walked closer to his son and stood over him with his arms on his hips. For a moment, Minjae stopped his moaning and looked over to Hongjoong, "Will you take me to Uncle Wooyoung?" Hongjoong raised an eyebrow at his son trying to bargain with him, "I'll take you to the doctor to get a shot instead, how's that?" And with that, Minjae dropped his head back and resumed moaning and groaning.
Minjae kept doing so, even following his dad around who managed to get his things from under Minjae by throwing him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes (and Minjae slid right off his dad's shoulder... like a sack of potatoes). When Hongjoong was setting up his laptop in his home office, Minjae laid on the rug, when Hongjoong took a break to eat the dinner you cooked, Minjae laid across his lap and grumbled despite you trying to get him to sit up and behave when people are eating, then Minjae laid in front of the bathroom like a speed bump which almost caused Hongjoong to trip and fall.
With a sigh, Hongjoong crouched down and stared at his little boy, "Kim Minjae, if you don't cut this out right now I'm going to take you to my room," he threatened. But Minjae blinked and tilted his head, "Can we go to Uncle Wooyoung's room instead?" He asked, trying to bargain yet again. Hongjoong felt the corner of his left eye twitched and firmly stated, "No," then, Hongjoong stood up and tried walking away. Unfortunately, Minjae immediately latched onto his dad's leg and let his body be dagged away. Not even when you ran over screaming, trying to unlatch his grip on Hongjoong's leg did he relent. In fact, Minjae screeched and dug his nails into Hongjoong's leg, leaving the man soundlessly screaming and almost falling on his face. It was quite a sight to behold. Kim Minjae, your usually calm and reserved son, let out a banshee-like screech that managed to surprise the heck out of you, causing you to jump back and stare wide-eyed and as if nothing had happened, Minjae returned to his moaning and groaning while still being attached to his dad's legs.
To say that both you and Hongjoong gave up on trying to get Minjae to stop was an understatement because Hongjoong was now stuck in his home office with his son on the rug behind him moaning and groaning, causing him to lose focus which means that the situation was that bad because Kim Hongjoong doesn't lose focus on his goals. Apparently neither does Kim Minjae. Every 20 minutes or so, Minjae stopped his moaning and groaning to ask Hongjoong if he could go to Uncle Wooyoung's in all sorts of ways. As much as Hongjoong felt annoyed with the incessant behaviour, he had to admit that his favourite was when Minjae offered to prank Wooyoung on his dad's behalf as a form of revenge for the museum chaos.
The moment Hongjoong realized that the moans and groans had stopped was when Minjae finally fell asleep. It was well over 10 pm which means it was past the boy's bedtime. Knowing his relationship with sleep, Hongjoong was not at all surprised that his circadian clock had automatically shut him up. After saving his progress, Hongjoong stretched his body out slightly before getting out of his chair and crouching down next to Minjae who was creating a puddle on the rug ironically enough Wooyoung bought for Hongjoong. The way that they don't even live together anymore but Wooyoung still effectively has his grip on Hongjoong's life.
Gently, Hongjoong moved Minjae's bangs out of his face but as gentle as he was, Minjae still managed to stir and he suddenly opened his eyes. "Daddy going?" he groggily asked, lifting his head up slightly, "It's past your bedtime sir, what do you think?" Hongjoong sarcastically answered, scoffing slightly and shaking his head before scooping the barely conscious boy into his arms without much issue. "Are we going to Uncle Wooyoung's?" Minjae still managed to ask despite the fact that he was already closing his eyes again and resting his cheek on Hongjoong's shoulder. The question sent Hongjoong in disbelief but he simply shook his head, "Not tonight buddy." Thankfully, Minjae nodded and even nuzzled his face deeper, "I'll try again tomorrow," he mumbled in finality before falling back asleep.
As much as Hongjoong wanted to complain and even tell his son no, he knew there was no point. The issue was reserved for the next day. All he could hope for was that Minjae would forget or get distracted.

[15:38] hongjoong × reader (fr. xikers minjae)
⇀ hongjoong loves the fact that his juniors are getting the recognition they deserve. just not like this.
⇁ it's fine. really. so fine. abso-tively fine. fucking fantastic even
"Ah, shit,"
Hongjoong scrambled up as he hastily saved the file of work he was doing for the past... four hours. He remembered you coming to take him for a walk or coffee around three hours ago, saying that he needed to see something other than the blue light emitted from his computer's screen. Of course, in a true Kim Hongjoong fashion, he said "yes" which was followed by "but let me finish this tiny part first" and of course, in a true (y/n) fashion, being impossibly in love with the man, you agreed and sat down on the couch behind him, waiting.
Now, three hours later, Hongjoong realized that you were no longer even in the room and that was when he decided to panic. Hands moving in the speed of light whilst still trying to be careful so he wouldn't knock anything off of his desk or worse, onto his computer. Whilst his file was saving into his computer (in a speed that was oddly longer than usual), Hongjoong tried calling you to know your whereabouts and to prepare the length of apology he might need to do in case you were pissed at him. But unfortunately for him, you weren't answering your phone nor seeing his texts which made him think the worst case scenario. You had gone home because he was being inconsiderate.
Praying that his files would complete its saving progress, Hongjoong took his keys, AirPods, and wallet off the desk and shoved them down his pocket and immediately exit his office to go find you.
Much to his surprise, however, he was met with the sight of you in the communal area of the production office with Joy, Maddox's dog, in your lap. You were cooing at the puppy as you rubbed her furry belly, tummy up on your lap, panting happily and even making eye contact with Hongjoong as if she was taunting him over the attention you were giving her.
"Lucky bitch," Hongjoong grumbled under his breath. Despite the remark, he wasn't really pissed whatsoever, not at anything and especially not at the dog, as he was honestly just glad to see that you hadn't left the building. Which means that there was a chance that you weren't mad whatsoever especially with Joy in your lap. Hongjoong was in the safe zone this time it seems. So knowing that your mood will be all happy and positive since you had the adorable canine in your lap, Hongjoong figured that he can be just as cute and butter you up, saying all the right things and within no time you'd be feeding him pasta.
However, just as Hongjoong was about to join you, he heard footsteps coming closer in a jogging pace, and soon a figure emerged, grinning brightly in his oversized hoodie with something in his hands. "Noona, I found her snacks!" Minjae grinned widely, plopping down on the floor in front of you as he opened the packaging of the dog biscuit happily. Maybe it was Hongjoong's jealousy creeping, but he could almost see puppy ears and tail on Minjae, wagging happily next to you as if basking in your attention. But it was probably nothing and he was just overanalyzing because he had been feeling bad for working when he was supposed to be doing something with you. What made the vein in Hongjoong's forehead almost pop, however, was when you cooed and patted Minjae on top of his head like he was a puppy himself. "Good job, Minjae! You're such a good boy!" And you even complimented him like a puppy, what even is that!?
"Noona," Minjae whined, face blushing as his arms half-heartedly tried to brush your hands away from him, "Don't pet me like a dog!" He pouted, averting his eyes shyly to focus on Joy who he had began feeding. "Aw boo, how can I not, Minjae? You're the most adorable leader I've ever known,"
And that was it.
"Hey!" Hongjoong plopped right next to you, his left arm draping over your shoulder with a huge (creepy) grin on his face (that seemed vaguely threatening towards Minjae). "What are you guys doing?" He asked, purposefully planting a big smooch to your cheek (and regretting it as seen from his VERY red face) and then looking straight at Minjae, "Hey, aren't you supposed to be in lessons?" Hongjoong hoped that Minjae would take the hint and scooch away. Far far away and for a long long time. "Oh, I was. But the vocal coach wanted to spend more time with Junmin and Jinsik so I was let out early and I met noona with Joy and I just couldn't help myself!" He grinned. "Of course you couldn't help yourself," Hongjoong muttered under his breath lowly which Minjae didn't caught but you sure did though you pretended like you didn't.
So you decided to have your own little fun.
"Yeah, Minjae was taking care of his members and also me for some reason. Heck, he even helped take care of Joy! Isn't he such a good leader?" You smiled in faux innocence at Hongjoong, clearly wanting to emphasize how good of a leader you think Minjae is. The words made Hongjoong's eye twitch in annoyance and jealousy, not liking that his spot of "favourite leader" in your heart was seemingly threatened by a boy whom he helped mentored. "Yeah... Minjae's an awesome dude, isn't he?" By that point, Hongjoong's smile was strained so hard it seemed like his cheek bones were cramping.
Oblivious to what you two were doing, Minjae looked up with his big innocent eyes and spoke up for himself, "Well, I took a lot of Hongjoong hyung's advice and he took great care of me, so obviously I wanted to return the favour to (y/n) noona!" Though his words were sincere and seemed to praise Hongjoong, the coo and head pats you gave the younger guy only caused Hongjoong's nose to flare as he huffed out a breath.
Luckily, someone (that sounded like Hunter) called for Minjae from the end of the hall and Minjae immediately excused himself. While Hongjoong appreciated the speed, he almost pulled you onto his lap when Minjae gave you a side hug before running off. In Hongjoong's eyes, it felt like Minjae was running off in pure happiness with giddy steps that he got from you and call it the possessive boyfriend and captain in him, but he didn't like that at all. Not one bit.
When Minjae was out of sight, you turned to look at Hongjoong with a grin that was far too smug to his liking. In contrast, Hongjoong was frowning hard that the bottom sides of his lips and the spot between his eyebrows creased in clear annoyance. The both of you stared at each other like that for a while, clearly communicating, saying things without using actual words just by looking at each other. Most of your public communication happened that way as to save yourselves from using words or even having to think about what words to use. It effectively eliminates prolonged argument and you both believed that it was because you just loved each other so much. And you truly do. How else would you both been able to do this?
Finally, giving up, Hongjoong let out a huff before he broke the silence. "Well, you could've said something! And you know, not hang with Minjae? Because I'm the best leader you know, period. I don't care about anything else, I'm the only leader in your heart, okay? You should not be looking at other leaders, heck, you shouldn't even be thinking about other leaders! Because do they have to deal with Wooyoung?? Do they have to deal with Yeosang??? Do they have to deal with literally all five members of 99z along with Seonghwa and Jongho? Because I did and I damn know I did a fantastic job with them! An-" before he could ramble more you had pressed your lips onto his with a giggle, effectively shutting him up as Joy jumped up onto Hongjoong's chest with her tail wagging happily. When you pulled away, Hongjoong's frown has melted and he looked slightly shocked which to you was absolutely adorable. "I'm just hanging with Minjae, Joongie and I said Minjae was the most adorable leader ever, you're my captain, okay? You are my ONLY captain and you're the handsomest, most adorable, and best of the best captain and I love you, okay?" You then stood up with a hand outstretched to him as you hold Joy in your other hand, nodding towards the front door, "Come on, we're taking you out to get you some coffee and Joy some fresh air."
Now happy, Hongjoong gladly took your hand in his, all jealousy melting away as he was finally able to have your attention to himself. Sure, he loves his juniors, but hell will freeze over before he share you with anyone else.
"You can't blame me for liking Minjae though, he's as cute as a button and as determined as a puppy. He reminds me of you slightly."
And there his eye goes, twitching again.

[10.34] dad!yunho × baby!jinsik × mom!reader
⇀ how can they be so alike ?
⇁ SO @flowerboykun AND I MADE THIS WHOLE XIKERS AS ATEEZ'S BABY THING AND- BRAINROT !!! I NEED TO GET THIS MADNESS OUT !!!! get ready for more of this in the future though
⇁ disclaimer : the author is not forcing any ideas or form of relationship between irl characters. this fic is specifically for entertainment purposes
You have heard stories about how Yunho was the spitting image of his father. Especially in terms of his personality and humor.
So when Jinsik came into the world, you were not surprised that he immediately became Yunho's best friend, a title Mingi let the kid have because he has "genetic privileges". But how can he not? The boy was the spitting image of his dad; his smile, the mischievous glint in his eyes, and the way he acted, they were definitely twins in the past life or something. The connection they just seem to have was amazing, inexplicable even. Sometimes you envy it because they were just like two peas in a pod.
However, this would more often than not mean that they would both act ridiculously in public and when this happens, your envy decrease significantly. You understood them acting goofily when Jinsik was merely 2 or 3 years old, the boy can be a great source of entertainment just from how he laughed; Yunho is awesome with making the kid laugh. Heck, you loved seeing them being so damn adorable together, just having fun while bonding. Just... Not when they were acting like the entire world was their playground. Especially now that Jinsik is 5 years old because he was getting braver and more forward with his jokes and pranks. It's cute, don't misunderstand, but how were you supposed to proudly claim that Jinsik is your son and Yunho is your husband when they walk around public spaces with a plastic container on their heads and called themselves astronauts and proudly claim the frozen food aisle a "new planet filled with breaded subjects waiting to be fried"?
"Honey, look at this!" Yunho laughed, calling out for you from the other side of the rack.
Your little family were out shopping for Minjae's birthday and knowing Hongjoong, you'd have to be very careful when picking his son's clothes. The last time someone made a mistake (Wooyoung with a duckie costume), someone (Wooyoung) got smacked with something (raw bacon).
From the way Yunho laughed, you JUST know that Jinsik did something and you know you HAD to look and react appropriately to boost your son's confidence and not make him resent you in the future. "Good God, give me strength," you muttered to yourself with a groan before plastering a neutral face and going to the other side of the rack. "What is it?" you asked your husband who had his phone out and a cackle on his face. Looking at you with much happiness, he nudged in the direction of his- your son with his head enthusiastically, "Look at what Jinsik is doing!" he giggled.
When you looked at your son, your eyes almost bulged out when you saw he had his head through a stair railing, a big grin on his face as he waved enthusiastically at you. "Mommy, look!" he giggled, moving up and down the railing without a single care. "Wha- Jinsik, get out of there!" you exclaimed, rushing to save your son from being permanently stuck in the railing but Yunho grabbed your arm before you could even move close to your son. In your eyes, Jinsik was screaming for help and was panicking because of the fact you have mother's anxiety (and Yunho has father's nonchalance) despite the boy looking like he was on a Disneyland ride. "What are you doing?" Yunho asked, blinking curiously at you which made you scoff because it was as if the answer was not staring at him back in the eyes with his neck between the wall and the stair railing. "What do you mean what I'm doing? I'm saving our- MY son from having his head stuck there and having to live as the department store stair railing boy," the words came out of you in the speed of light as you wanted nothing more than to get your son out and back safely in your arms. Oh, how much you wish you were a kangaroo to keep your little hopper of a son safe on your person always. Especially knowing what his dad and his uncles are like. "Look at him, he's having the time of is life!" as if to make a point, Yunho snapped his head to Jinsik who was moving around happily on his own, "Buddy, show mommy your microwave bit!" he commanded. Jinsik beamed and nodded enthusiastically, "Mommy, look! I'm last night's pizza!"
Your eyes almost bulged out when Jinsik began turning around in his spot as he imitated the sound of a microwave whirring. Though it seemed like an innocent move and a careful one at that, in your eyes, it seemed like Jinsik was about to twist his neck and have his head pop off. "My God- Jinsik!" this time, Yunho couldn't even stop you as you rush to your baby and immediately tried to get him out of the railing. Despite Yunho's laughter and Jinsik's complaints, you decided to just not listen to the father and son duo in order to save yourself some sanity from being overly worried.
Yunho's laughter slowed down however when he noticed that you were taking some time to get the boy out. "Honey?" he called out, taking small steps towards you and Jinsik, "Is something wrong?" It was then that you turned to look at him with your face pale and Jinsik with his jaw slack, "Yunnie, I think Jinsik's stuck."
All hell broke loose with Jinsik crying and you trying to calm him down and Yunho not knowing how to prioritize between putting down his phone, getting help, stopping recording, getting people to come to help them, and dropping the bags he was holding. There were approximately 3 store employees and 2 security guards working together to free your son from his (self) imprisonment as a small crowd gathered nearby. Even though the employees were working together as quickly as they can, the poor boy just kept crying, snot and tears mixing together down his cheeks. "M-m-mommy I'm s-sorry for no-ot listening to you," he hiccupped as he grips on your shirt tightly with his trembling hands, "Mommy, get me out, please," he whimpered sadly with bottom lip trembling like a leaf in a hurricane. "It's okay buddy, these people are helping you!" Yunho crouched down in front of him, pointing at the workers who were trying to unscrew the railing to let Jinsik out. Though his dad was trying to help, Jinsik couldn't help but pout at him, "You should be here with me," he sniffled, annoyed that though it was both of their ideas to have Jinsik put his head through the railing, he was the only one suffering.
It didn't take long for the workers to get the railing off and once he was free, Jinsik leapt into your arms and buried his face on your shoulders. Jinsik is always affectionate, but it still felt nice whenever he showed affection JUST for you.
Both you and Yunho thanked the workers before hauling ass (from embarrassment). Jinsik clung onto you the whole way out of the store and refused to get down. He was still calming himself down by doing this little habit that he has been doing since he was a baby which is stroking your nape gently.
"Honey, you want me to carry him?" Yunho offered as he reached forward to take Jinsik out of your hands but before he could even touch the boy, Jinsik had slapped his hands away and stuck his tongue out. "I wanna be with mommy," Jinsik said in a mocking tone before wrapping his arms tightly around your neck and hiding his face on your shoulder. His statement made Yunho huff jokingly and pretended to walk faster in front of you two, "Well then, I'll just go have ice cream by myself!" it was obvious that Yunho was trying to bait Jinsik with a treat but unfortunately, Jinsik only waved him off, "'Kay daddy, have fun! Mommy and I will get cupcakes!"
Jinsik might be a carbon copy of his dad, but you were glad that when it comes to his favourite parent, you might be it.

From the moment Yechan was able to walk, both you and Jongho know that you got a particularly hyper baby in your hands.
No matter how much you and Jongho whine and panic over Yechan running away at any chance he got, the both of you are actually very glad your son is a happy baby. Sure, the motto in your house has changed to "oh god, where's Yechan?" and you both had to come up with strategies frequently in case Yechan found a way to break free once again, but you just love him so much to actually complain or hate his little quirk. This was why you came up with a weekly trip to the park so that you can bargain with the little bugger to calm down the rest of the week and let loose on that one day in the park. Well, you voiced your concern to your husband's friends and Yeosang jokingly suggest letting the 'pup' have all the fun he wants in the great outdoors. Little did he know, you'd take the suggestion seriously. Of course, Jongho complained about how his hyung had just insinuated that his son needed to be taken for a walk like a dog, but even you can't deny the boy has some puppy qualities to him.
Unlike his 'cousins', the moment Yechan was strong enough to stand, he immediately tried to run off. This was expected as the baby had once crawled around the house so quickly like a crab running from predator. That day, you and Jongho spent the whole day losing, finding, and caging your son who seemed to be able to slip away no problem. Jongho even boasted that one day his son can be a pro athlete to which Mingi joked that it can also mean that Yechan can potentially be a successful thief. Everyone agreed to Jongho almost immediately, after Jongho pinched a large and very dark bruise to Mingi's back.
Yechan, being the smart kid that he is, was fully aware of the days he was going to be out at the park with his cousins based on how the previous night and morning went. Usually, he'd be tucked into his bed in the middle of his cartoon and in the morning, you'd make him pancakes and let him use as much syrup as he wants and his dad would always have to help him not drown the pancake in a lake of syrup (much to his disappointment). Then, after wiping his mouth clean, you'd carry him to his room and let him pick out what he wants to wear from the selection you've put out. After he was done putting his clothes on, his dad would bring him out and sat him down on the couch to watch his cartoon as you and Jongho got ready yourselves.
Usually, that was it. The moment you said 'let's go, boys', Yechan would get off the couch and have you or his dad put his sneakers on his feet. But today was different, he saw you wearing a dress which you usually won't wear especially when you all were going to the park. And Yechan couldn't help but panic when he saw you putting on high heels with him and his dad just standing there, watching.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Jongho asked, sighing as he helped you slip your feet in your shoes without crouching down by holding your hands. You nodded at him as you straighten up, "Yes, and because it's a gift, we are going to try it, okay? See if Yechannie likes it," you turned to look at Yechan who was looking at you with much confusion. "Mommy, let's go?" he asked, tilting his head and raising his arms as if he was asking you to carry him. You cooed and opened your arms to which he immediately ran and hug your legs. Gently, you pat Yechan on his head as you explained the situation, "Mommy needs to go meet some of mommy's friends so you go meet your hyungs with daddy, okay?"
The pout on the baby's face almost foiled your plans of not joining them at the park. But thankfully, Jongho stepped in by grabbing the baby up into his strong arm and pulling you into a quick kiss, "Okay, I see where this is going and you are meeting up with your friends, you're not cancelling," he then gently pushed you to the front door and even opened it to let you out, "Yechan and I will be fine so you just have fun, okay?" This time, it was your turn to pout at your husband. "Fine, but please let me know if anything happens, okay? Especially if any one of them makes fun of Yechan," you huffed. Jongho raised an eyebrow confusedly, "Baby, I don't think Yechan's cousins are going to make fun of him, they're great kids," he defended. You rolled your eyes and sighed at your husband's blatant confusion, "I'm talking about your friends, honey. Particularly the one that sounds like a tea kettle," to which Jongho nodded in understanding. "Don't worry, I can handle him just fine, now you go before you're late." Before you could turn to walk away, Yechan squealed and almost threw himself out of his dad's arms. "Mommy, kiss!" he pouted, arms spread widely and eyebrows furrowed in utter displeasure. You couldn't help but giggle at your baby's adorable clinginess that he definitely got from his dad (much to his denial) and took a step back to properly blow a raspberry to your son's cheeks which made him giggle in delight before leaving.
Soon after you left, Yechan was put back on the couch as Jongho cleaned up some things before going into Yechan's room to retrieve something. When Jongho came back in front of Yechan, he looked back and forth between the item in his hands and his son a couple of times, clearly hesitating to do something. Yechan could only stare up at his dad in confusion, not understanding why his dad seemed so concerned. "Daddy?" Jongho snapped out of his trance at the sound of his baby calling for him, "Let's go?" he grinned widely, excitedly awaiting their departure to the park. Jongho smiled at the innocent boy and nodded, signalling that he could get off the couch and that they both were going out.
Just as Yechan was about to walk to the shoe rack, Jongho stopped him and crouched in front of him. "Buddy, you need to wear this before we go," Jongho said as he began attaching the item in his hand to Yechan's body. Yechan looked down, unsure of what the thing is but didn't feel disturbed. Out of curiosity, Yechan tugged on the straps and felt around to feel where the contraption was but before he could even understand what it is, Jongho had scooped him up and placed him on the porch to put both his and Yechan's shoes on. Once Jongho deemed that everyone was ready, he took Yechan in his arms and locked the door before walking off to the elevator to the car, ready for a day of having fun with his son and his friends along with their kids.
The ride to the park wasn't long, they all had managed to find the perfect park not too far from where they were all living separately and the kids love the place to bits.
As per usual, Jongho got off the car first before he rounded the car to his son's side to get him out of his seat. With the clasps of the seat off, Yechan was just about ready to jump off and run to find his friends when Jongho pulled him so that his head was leaning onto his dad's strong shoulder, exposing his back. "Okay buddy, I only need to attach this to you and then we're good to go," Jongho said. Yechan heard something clicked but he didn't know what it was because he couldn't see what was going on. Nevertheless, the thought was wiped away when Jongho carried him in one arm as the other arm carry his diaper bag before closing the car door and locking the car.
Even from simply looking at the leaves Yechan was already excited. The thought of playing tag with his cousin Hunter and Sumin ran through his head, he also wanted to know what toy his cousin Junmin brought that day or what clashing colours is his cousin Minjae wearing. The closer they got to the rendezvous point, the jumpier Yechan got. This is what you would call the equivalent of a race car warming up before taking off and whenever Yechan does it, it never failed to make Jongho chuckle because it was just too precious.
"Yechan!" Yujun screamed when he finally saw his cousin Yechan in Jongho's arms approaching them. Hearing Yujun call Yechan out, the rest of the boys ran away from their parents and out of their games to greet Yechan even though he was still quite further away from the rest of them. Yechan was more than happy to be welcomed though, he started wiggling around, trying to get out of his dad's grasp to run off and meet his cousins halfway. Any one of Jongho's friends would say that it's hard to get out of his grasp but as Yechan is his little baby, Jongho tends to be more gentle and less restrictive on him which was why Yechan was able to jump off and run free towards the nearest boy, Seeun.
One thing Yechan didn't account for was the contraption Jongho put on him not too long ago.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?" Wooyoung's boisterous voice rang as he fell into Yeosang who was trying to figure out what it was they were seeing. Seonghwa smacked Wooyoung on the backside of his head with his eyes widened in shock, "Can you not say the f word in front of my kid?" he scolded. Wooyoung could only kept laughing though, pointing at Jongho and Yechan, "How can I when the fuck i meant is Jongho with his kid on a leash!"
With that, the rest of the adults on the table; Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, and San snapped their heads to gawk at Yechan who was being pulled to the playground by his cousins as Jongho tailed behind with something in his hand that was attached to Yechan's body.
The closer Jongho got to his friends, the hotter his face felt. It was a huge relief that Yechan didn't seem to understand why his uncles found it so funny that he was tethered to his dad like so. Because Jongho was damn embarrassed for the both of them.
"Don't say anything," Jongho grumbled as he placed Yechan's diaper bag on the picnic table. Wooyoung was trying so hard to hold his laughter in, to the point that he looked like he was trying so hard to not shit his pants. Yunho and Yeosang were in a similar situation but not as severe, both of them sporting dumb grins on their faces as they watched the youngest dad trying his hard to not scream out of embarrassment. San on the other hand was still trying to figure out what it was he was seeing. "Is Yechan on time out or something? Is he being punished?" he asked, looking up at Jongho, not quite sure what he was actually seeing. Maybe Jongho forgot to unlatch the straps of Yechan's car seat and he's just THAT strong that he managed to rip the straps off?
With a groan, Jongho braced himself with the fakest smile he could muster. "No, it's called a safety child tether, it's supposed to-" Wooyoung cut him off before he could say what it's supposed to do, "It's a damn leash, Jongho, I bought Hunter's puppy's the same model but in a different colour," he laughed. At Wooyoung's words, Yunho burst out laughing while Yeosang turned to Yujun as a way to hold his tongue for the sake of the toddler. Thankfully, before Jongho could send Hunter home to his mom with a message that his dad is now floating in the next galaxy, San shoved a sandwich into Wooyoung's mouth to successfully shut him up. "Dude, Yechan's not a dog," he scolded his friend, receiving nothing but a scoff from him but thankfully no backtalk. Just as Jongho felt glad that at least one of his friends is defending him, San turned to look at him and stated with a deadpan look, "But yeah man, that's a leash." "It's not!" Jongho cried, plopping himself on a vacant spot, simultaneously pulling Yechan off of Junghoon and closer to him, "It's a child safety tether and (y/n)'s friend bought it when she heard that we got a runner in the family." Out of curiosity, Seonghwa took a seat closest to Jongho after handing Junmin his juice box, "Wait, which friend?" he asked, to which Jongho simply answered, "The middle-aged lady with like 6 succulents on her desk and always wear that red coat." All of his friends almost simultaneously smacked their foreheads in disbelief and it took Yeosang saying something to make Jongho understand, "You mean the lady with 6 dogs and counting?" It was then that Jongho looked down on Yechan and remembered what you told him after you brought home the so-called present, something about your friend using the same thing on her misbehaving child. "But she does have kids!" Jongho tried to defend himself. "Those dogs are her kids, Jongho, we all saw her Instagram page!" Yunho said, shaking his head.
Defeated, Jongho could only stare at his son who was staring up at him innocently. He felt bad and almost like he was responsible for putting him in such a position. Almost.
"And look who we have here!" Jongho heard Mingi call out.
He turned slightly and saw Mingi and Hongjoong walking towards them whilst carrying a cooler together. Wanting to greet them, Yechan let out a squeal and was about to take off on his own but he ended up flopping onto his stomach with an 'oof' instead because the tether held him back.
Sumin squeaked and ran to Yechan's side, followed by Hyunwoo who left his sister Soohyun with Junghoon to check if the toddler was okay. Jongho was about to jump in and hold the boy in case he cried, but Yechan only looked up and grinned goofily at everyone around him. Even as Sumin and Hyunwoo help him up, Yechan only giggled until Mingi crouched down in front of him.
"Why hello there... Puppy?" He joked, almost making Wooyoung choke on his water. "Hyung..." Jongho warned but Mingi just waved him off, "Look at you all happy!" Mingi pointed out which made Yechan giggle louder and stomp on his feet side by side, "Your tail's a-wagging!" Mingi exclaimed, causing Wooyoung to burst into another fit of laughter, surprising Hunter who wanted to ask him for his water bottle. San and Yunho had to drag him away before he burst his stomach. "Hyung, I swear," Jongho warned, pouting at how his friend was making his son seem more like a puppy. "Oh, lighten up, Jongho," Hongjoong chuckled, "You know your son is a good boy. A very, very good boy and we just want to appreciate that," he smirked. Realizing that Hongjoong had jumped in, Jongho could only groan and bury his face in his palm. "I swear, you guys are KILLING me," he grumbled into his own hands. Yechan took notice of his dad's posture and pouted, momentarily leaving his uncle Mingi to tap on his thigh, "Daddy, okay?" worry was obvious in his voice, not liking that his dad seemed distraught. "Maybe your dad just needs a drink, Yechannie. Here, fetch!" Mingi reached into the cooler and was about to pass Yechan a bottle of cold water. Thankfully, Jongho heard the command first and his head shot up to glare at the two people before him, "No, don't! Yechan, stay!"
The adults froze when Jongho slipped a command at his own son. They all needed a moment to process what had just happened but once complete realization was made, not even Seonghwa could hold in his laughter, he had to turn his body so as to not laugh even more while Hongjoong doubled over, holding his stomach. Yeosang was clutching his chest as he continuously slap Jongho's shoulder in amusement, laughing at both Jongho's situation and the fact that Mingi was on all fours on the ground, heaving like a cat trying to pass a furball. On the other side, a little bit further away, Yunho was laughing at how San and Wooyoung were completely on the ground, clutching their foreheads in pain as they laughed. They had managed to bump their foreheads together clumsily but not even that could stop them from laughing their asses off.
"Guys, please, you're all ADULTS with CHILDREN!" Jongho scolded angrily but the shade of red on his face indicated that he was rather embarrassed.
Confused, Yechan tugged his dad's pants and tilted his head to the side, "Uncles okay?" behind him stood Sumin who could only stare at his dad on the ground with his eyebrows furrowed. Hyunwoo had run off when he heard his dad laughing whilst saying 'ow', concerned and curious. Of course, Jongho would be more than happy to explain to his child that his uncles are crazy or that they were possessed, but Yechan was just a child and it would be such a shame to waste a good excuse in this situation. With a sigh, Jongho smiled at the boy and pat his head before removing the tethe- fuck it, it's a fucking leash, he removed it from his son's body before sending him and Sumin off to play, a cover because he was about to kick some grown-up ass.
Safe to say, you came home later in the day with the child leash ripped apart and shoved into the trashcan followed by Jongho ranting about how the day went. Even you had to admit it was funny but with your husband's passion for his son's justice, you decided to keep quiet and tease both him and Yechan at another day. Most likely the very next.
