PRINCESS MAI, the rose of Liang—clever and charming and cunning and ruthless (because she'll do anything for her country, you see, even if it means marrying the man who murdered cousin and pretending to love him), with soft smiles and twinkling laughter that does not quite reach her eyes; knights have their chainmail and breastplates and steel gauntlets, and Mai Mei has her red lipstick and high heels. She has children, with him. She'll kill him herself, one day, and nobody will ever know.

PRINCESS ISABELLA, the ice queen of Evalusia—cold, and as ruthless as they come. She'll not be a pawn under her father's destructive regime, not anymore—her sister's gone because she never said anything, and now she is filled with ice and edges that cut like glass. She'll do anything for her country, even if it means dying in a war to seize the throne for herself. To hell with marriages and secret alliances and pretending; she'll kill her father in front of everyone, if that means saving her people.

you are lovely and loathsome in equal measure

 A gunshot rang out from somewhere outside of the Second Princess’s chambers, followed closely by a startled shout. Then, more gunshots.

Camila paused, shrugged, and continued applying her lipstick.

Camila snapped herself out of her reverie when the mercenary let out a shrill scream, coughing up a mouthful of blood as Aza buried her clawed hand into the other woman’s midsection. Camila wrinkled her nose, again. “Oh, stop it. You’re ruining a perfectly good set of tea doilies,” she admonished.

Second Princess Camila, prim and proper and as pretty as a poisonous flower with her sweet smiles and steel-edged ruthlessness . . . she laughed soft hyacinths into the air, the petals dripping crimson.

WRITEBOARDWALK FERRIS WHEEL DAY #6: FAMILY

writeboardwalk ferris wheel - day vi, family { lay them to rest }

c a m i l a – the second princess. lovely and loathsome, made of spun sugar and silken deception and clad in satin-soft gowns frothing with lace and ruffles. sharp like a steel-edged rose, the petals dripping liquid rubies.

k y v a n a – the third princess. gleaming with crystalline glamour and diamond-eyed cunning; frivolous and superficial, though more shrewd than anybody gives her credit for.

t s e l v y a – the fourth princess. bloody and cruel, her veins glittering golden and rot-dark with macabre decadence. a notorious flesh collector; cloying wisps of incense trail after her, to mask the smell of decaying corpses.

s a l é - s a l é – the fifth princess. kind, and as gentle as a summer breeze. her heart blooms amber like a bird of paradise; she must burn the petals to ash if she is to survive.

Honestly, Kyvana thought as she typed out a quick reply, this entire succession war business is absolute bull. I was going to use this trip as an opportunity to promote my new Crystal Beauty palette and do some Picstagram partnerships, but how am I supposed to make time for that and deal with my sisters trying to kill me?! She looked up when her aunt asked to see her dress, and twirled around, showing off the crystals and sequins splayed across the long train of her rich mauve gown. They shimmered prettily when they caught in the light.

Camila smiled, pleasantly enough. She leaned in close – close enough that her painted lips were mere inches away from Tselvya’s ear; close enough that even the cruel, cruel Fourth Princess stiffened slightly – and whispered, “I don’t need your help, Tselvya. If you want mine, you’ll have to make it worth my time.”

Then, she drew away and let out a soft laugh. It twinkled with a saccharine, sugar-spun sweetness that did not quite reach her eyes.

Salé-salé’s stomach churned. She stared into Camila’s dark eyes – into the cold, cunning cruelty behind the Second Princess’s dainty manners and delicate airs and honeyed words that dripped sweetness like spun sugar – and despite the pleasant warmth of the Water Gardens, despite the fish that danced and darted through clear cerulean waters and the cheerful birdsong and lush greenery and jewel-bright flowers glittering brilliantly under the artificial sunlight, Salé-salé felt nothing but an icy, suffocating dread.

writeboardwalk ferris wheel - day vii, wildcard { dulcifera }

i write a lot of tree-hugger girls { no surprise there since one of my majors is sustainability lol } so here’s the most recent one <3 <3

Dulcifera has seen the Earth that the Archangels envision, and she wants no part of it.

Just look at { 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐺𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑦 }, the so-called Abode of Angels: glory-bright and blindingly brilliant with buildings made of jewels and sweet songs and gleaming golden chariots and that horrible, horrible menagerie with animals that know nothing of running wild and free at its center. 

That isn’t { 𝐸𝑎𝑟𝑡ℎ }. To Dulcifera, humans were born to laugh and love and change and grow; to run barefoot and sing songs and make beautiful things and read poetry and get their hands dirty with a bit of sweat and soil. And the planet has changed and been made anew with the forces of the universe alone - the energy from the sun fueled the Great Oxygenation, an astroid ended the Age of Dinosaurs, the Last Ice Age created the Sixth Extinction; tectonic plates collided and rain fell and life flourished and rotted and mud and mountain burst out of it all. What do { 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑛 } or { 𝐻𝑒𝑙𝑙 } have anything to do with it?

the ice does not forgive

A B O U T ;  In the professional robot unicorn racing industry, Snow is the reigning ice queen. but she was once, surprising as it may seem, Ice World’s sweetheart. She was scouted when she was 17 and dubbed ‘Snow Princess’, and with her blonde curls and blue eyes, she had a smile so pretty and sweet that people said it could melt ice. Her first unicorn was the same - gentle, with an even disposition and as pretty as a picture. That all changed when an armed thief tried to rob Snow on her way back from practice with her unicorn. That first unicorn, the one who was pretty and sweet and gentle, saw Snow panicking and attacked the thief, killing him. In order to avoid legal sanctions, TWILIGHT was forced to deactivate the unicorn, and Snow Princess disappeared from the racing scene. She re-appeared with { Sparkle Charmer } three seasons later, but she was different. Cold. She dropped the ‘princess’ from her name, becoming just Snow, and would go on to become an industry veteran. She’s now over 30, but shows no signs of retiring….and she’s perfectly capable of competing with the newer, younger racers, thank you very much.
