I downloaded about 50 things... only got 2 of those items #like walking into the grocery store to buy one thing and then leaving with a whole shopping cart full #mostly got hair didn’t need any of it again just needed that table and some recolours of items plus a lamp and some plants but nooo #still didn’t really find a table recolour I liked just closest thing I just want worn wood recolours of things! 😭 #I’m building a bar/kind of dingy pub but I don’t want it to look like abandoned for 100yrs after a massacre just want some wear and tear #yes it’s 2am ignore me #yeah I’m gamer™️

I've been watching videos on those beautiful Russian jewelled eggs. Can't mention the name - trademarked. I wanted to create my own version in wood and metal embellishments, adding a tiny LED smaller than a grain of rice within the "sun" crystal bead. The wire leads are finer than a strand of hair so soldering is tricky. As you can see in the photos the battery pack is in the base and both the top and bottom plates can be opened. I wanted it to sit on the legs with the battery pack exposed so it can easily be turned on and off, so there is a notch for the cord to run in the base plate. It takes two CR2032 that are easy to find. I'm still not at the skill level for USB power source.

It's ticked all the boxes for my art: industrial, steampunk aesthetic, science, space, light up, lots of whimsy and unique. I stained the wooden egg to a darker tone. I avoided glue with most of the decoration pinned, riveted and screwed into place. Although it looks delicate - it can be handled. To undo the top part of the egg it should be turned open. I installed two knobs on the internal top plate and a finger grip on the base. Unfortunately I had to fix the planets and sun in place due to the lighting.

This is a prototype so it took many hours to build, not counting the hours working out all the problems with the electrics. But I'm happy with the finished product and will list it in my Etsy shop. The next one will be smaller with a vintage aluminium stamped earth and moon if it will fit.

Fellow builders who are interested most of the brass and copper embellishments from vintage jewellery findings from US sellers. The "star map" points are rivet heads. Although I am learning how to turn wood, I bought the wooden egg as a blank and it came with four other "nesting" eggs inside. Now I'm thinking about doing an egg for each planet.....

So last night I kicked my night lamp in my sleep, killing it instantly. Unable to fix it (it was fixed once already, and on the brink of death when killed), I went to the second-hand open market, it's an outside event that happens weekly in the town's biggest parking lot.

As soon as I saw a lamp in there, I bargained for it and bought it. I didn't care what kind of lamp it was, and when I got home, this is what I had:

I absolutely love it, it's made out of real wood and metal, incredibly heavy and resilient, cannot easily be broken or kicked to death. But, I've also noticed this thing is very old, to the point where it's kind of a hazard; let me explain.

When I plugged this into the power extender, I noticed my laptop would no longer get any electricity. The sticker on the lamp says '50W max' and I know this isn't a lot! But I'm starting to think this lamp might be made in the times where electricity was working differently, or maybe the extenders weren't used.

It is also, so incredibly hot, I believe I could boil water on top of it after it's been plugged in for a minute. I'm a bit worried that this might be a hazard to keep on my bed (my bed is a big couch, I keep my lamp on it!)

If anyone here smart about lamps, could you tell me what time period this could be from? It doesn't have any writings on it except for that sticker with 50W max on it. Also the bottom part is some kind of black foam glued to it, so I can't dissemble it, but it makes very soft landing when you put it down. The light bulb is also fixed and cannot be changed! I imagine it must have been working for a long time already.
