Death

The news had been devastating. She'd frightened the agents that had arrived at their home. Agatha felt like there was a hole in her chest... and in a way there was. She was supposed to grow old with her, start a family, not feel the only love she'd ever known die without her.

Maria is what made her good. Had always made her good.

The hole in her chest burned, her magic reacting violently as she teleported herself to some remote forest in Norway. It's where she'd run to the first time. Tears streaming from blacked out eyes as she felt herself break into shards, a dark hand clutching at her necklace as she slumped down with her back against a large tree.

Her body was racked with sobs that she didn't care to hide, drawing her knees up to her chest and letting herself grieve. Her magic coiled itself protectively around its mistress as she tossed her head back against the tree, her magic sending a shockwave that made the forest shake and sway from the force. She then stood, ripping the brooch that served as her magical tether off of its chain and destroyed it in her palm... not caring at how it sliced into her skin, she didn't feel it anyway... she didn't feel anything at all.

The void in her chest didn't mend, but it did fill. If this was the reward for being good... she wanted no part of it any longer. Fuck humanity, fuck them all. She stared at the sky for a long moment before disappearing.

She reappeared in Maria's office at Shield. Agatha was only there for one thing, her original metal badge. The witch found it on her desk with ease before taking herself back to their shared home.

For a long moment she just stood in the doorway of the room set up for two little girls that she would never feel again...

Clutching an old Shield badge in her bleeding hand.

They would all burn.

Maria had had a terrible day. A long and stressful and terrible kind of day. And she knew her wife had too.

She snuck up behind the fretting witch and put her arms around her waist and her chin on her shoulder.

“Let me take you to dinner?”

Agatha had given up on her work, having found herself in the kitchen to make tea the old fashioned way to give her magic a break. The witch was frustrated, tapping a black finger against the counter and staring out the kitchen window at nothing in particular... just obsessing over her most recent failure.

The familiar arms around her waist snapped her from her reverie and she turned her head slightly towards Maria's, a soft smile forming. "That sounds.... amazing." She answered with a sigh, tilting her head to rest against her wife's.
