Actually obsessed with the idea of Riven and Helia being roommates !! I've already shared this headcanon but I like the idea of both of them having issues sleeping but for different reasons. And it's that trope of they can never get to sleep but when they start to room together they can sleep and it's like :o

Also obsessed with the idea that Helia could join literally any team at the school and he immediately chooses the most problematic and annoying team there. Helia: yeah that one please :) Saladin: .....

literally i think about saladin's reaction to helia wanting to join That team every day... some prince and his bodyguard who prince and the paupered the whole school... some guy with trauma who almost helped the evil witches and then got thrown into witch jail... some nerd who's getting ignored by everyone..... all of them constantly arguing and ruining school events because they can't stop fighting.... and his grandson who ran off to art school and hates guys like that befriends them and wants to join their team.... and then the angry guy unintentionally sabotages a mission leading to a universe no magic panic and basically gets him (purposely) expelled... and helia's just okay with that. like WHAT went through saladin's head i need to know

AHH I just meant that while rivelia is a popular specialist/specialist ship (maybe the most popular one actually?), it's often liked from a very... fanon perspective. People really enjoy the Angry Red Character and Calm Pacifist Blue Character trope (i do too!) but in canon rivelia just isn't really like that? At least, not to the extent that people usually think of them in fanon.

People often focus on that dynamic of angry/calm for rivelia when there's a lot there that can be really interesting! Like Riven's dislike and distrust of Helia at first actually being residual feelings of dislike of Sky (and assuming that Helia would be another Sky). Or how Helia never disliked Riven, even when he was being a little bitch to him! Or how Riven understands Helia's more negative feelings in ways that even Flora sometimes doesn't. Or Helia being able to express annoyance with Riven without Riven considering it a personal attack or challenge like he still does with some of the others. Or Riven still getting really worried when Helia does dangerous shit on missions (in a way that he really doesn't get with the other guys). Or Helia always being a quiet comfort for Riven and being there when he wants to vent.

There's just... a lot that goes into their friendship that people often miss because they end up focusing a lot more on the angry/calm or fighter/pacifist dynamics. And like,,, there's nothing inherently wrong with that don't get me wrong, but I wish there was more rivelia content that was based on their canon relationship! I think riven/nabu (rivbu? naven... ??) also gets that fanon treatment of angry/calm when again, so much more goes into their friendship! But for rivelia specifically, they just have a lot of potential as a pairing (platonically and romantically) but so much of it gets missed out on :(

AND YES OF COURSE!!! i thought i had posted about them before A Lot but all the posts are actually in the drafts OOPS

but to summarize, skylia have a really interesting to me!! i've mentioned it a few times in passing on helia and often rivelia posts but they have a really good understanding of each other that makes them very protective of each other. we see this a lot with helia just checking in on sky and making sure he's okay (something that we usually only ever see brandon and bloom do) and even more so with sky defending helia. i think something that's SO interesting about their dynamic is how sky defends helia specifically from the other characters instead of villains.

on missions, we don't see this behavior, but in their personal life, we do. and i think this really highlights how often sky feels Personally Attacked and how much he takes to heart. it doesn't happen as much after helia is Officially in the group and there's no longer friction between him and the other specialists, but this makes why it was happening a little more obvious. a lot of the initial hesitance toward helia was the others thinking he was going to be like sky,,, and like... sky may not be Consciously aware of this but i think he is on some level and that's why he would always end up defending helia. it was more of a projection on his part!

but he genuinely liked helia from the beginning and was able to see past that hesitance from the others because they were being judged for similar things (nepo baby, not working as hard, getting undermined, etc). BUT i think this is a big reason why helia is a little more forgiving of sky and a little more understanding when he's acting up. it's interesting to me because helia really isn't the kind of person that puts up with a ton of bullshit. he can understand bad moods and he can give people second chances, but if someone is consistently fucking up, he's pretty quick to end the relationship/not pay attention to them. so it was always fascinating to me to see him not only constantly give sky second chances but also seem very willing to just let sky off the hook (something he doesn't do often with the guys).

i feel like there are a lot of components to this aspect of their relationship, and the other specialists factor in A Lot with this too, but i really feel as though they have this weird sort of... I Understand Him Because I've Been Through The Same Treatment So I Feel Bad For Him But He Won't Stop Acting Up. and they're both like that aljdghljadg helia gets stressed whenever sky prioritizes his parent's wishes over his own needs and constantly checks in to make sure sky is okay. sky gets stressed whenever helia ditches people or feels hurt by their friends. and because they're able to understand each other's emotions that they're not showing to other people, it ends up making them somewhat protective and Very Very forgiving of each other. like when i say that sky lets helia do whatever the fuck he wants i mean it!!

BUT!! i also have some thoughts about it too!

personally, i feel like helia keeps his hair pretty simple so to speak. i don't think he's that into elaborate hairstyles for a normal day. so his usual hairstyles are really just ponytails, a braid, straight out, you get the picture

when it comes to more formal events, i think he does still prefer simple hairstyles with added accessories for the fancy instead of a fancy hairstyle. i added a couple of hairstyles with hair accessories that have the vibe i think he'd go for!!

i mean mostly i really think he prefers that simple + elegant vibe for hairstyles!

ough i love musa/helia dynamics so much actually they're so funny to me

first impressions... i feel like musa was,, initially interested in him being an artist, especially a more traditional one! but considering how much musa holds grudges, i think him walking away from the monster definitely made her Not like him until Someone (probably flora) started talking about him positively or inviting him so she could meet him properly.

as for helia,, it might sound mean but i honestly don't think he had any real impression of her until after he starts to hang around them more. he was very much focused on flora and eventually the specialists and i honestly don't think he had any like,, assumptions or thoughts about any of the other winx (except maybe bloom?). BUT after he actually Meets them i think his first impression of her would be,, strong and emotional. i don't think he'd be annoyed or anything, but he does notice when people are more open about their emotions (ex riven or timmy) so overall he'd think of her as a very Open and Emotional person. which,, isn't exactly wrong but isn't exactly right either yknow?

they're so interesting to me actually like both of them being Emo Artists tm and musa constantly singing his praises plus the added rivelia and sonicpetal dynamics,,they're just so funny to me akjhgdjdalkg

ooo interesting!! my two little art babies im love them

musa absolutely drags helia to her ear shatteringly loud rock concerts and he hates it so much. riven helps her drag him too so he can't escape.

on the flip side, she also takes him to all the indie ballad/folk pop artists she loves so it evens out adljhgal

sometimes when musa can't reach riven, she'll just call helia. she usually calls with the intention of asking if riven is okay, but they always get side tracked and somehow start talking about how bad some of the other specialists smell

speaking of gossip, these two are awful. they're so nice most of the time no one really expects it but LORD. they have shit on everyone. they talk about everyone. no one is spared!!!

rivelia being besties means helia gets a vip ticket to all rivusa drama. it's exhausting and he would really like to get off the ride. but also sometimes it's funny like what do you mean she had a crush on a middle aged white guy. when everything is all said and done with them and a respectful amount of time has passed, helia does send shit like "so jason huh 👀". musa hates it so much

one time helia made the album art for one of her releases. it was super obvious and he didn't get paid

they're kind of like siblings honestly helia will pull her hair while he's walking by and whenever she's at their place, she will open his door, stand there silently looking at him, and then leave and not close it again. absolute menaces to each other

but they're also extremely supportive of each other!! like? helia wants to ditch everyone and go live on an island alone for the rest of his life? musa: slay king. musa dumps riven for the fifth time this week and also gets into two physical fights with strangers? helia: you go bestie (but also please call riven he's mad again bestie)

on a serious note, i think they would bond a lot over family members not respecting their dreams and decisions. it implied that saladin was very encouraging of helia pursuing art, but it's vaguely implied that not everyone who's close to him was. i think it'd be really nice if they were able to talk through that and comfort/encourage each other!

when they argue it can get pretty ugly :( but not because of them! they tend to argue once and then silently brood until someone breaks first but when they do that the specialists tend to side with helia and that obviously just makes riven feel worse, especially when helia's the one in the wrong.

one of their arguments started with helia saying he didn't want riven trying to protect him during missions anymore and riven edgelord supreme immediately assumes that helia is undermining him again and they keep going back and forth until helia finally just yells that it's because he loves riven and doesn't want him to get hurt. cue harsh silence and ~prolonged eye contact~

on a cuter note, they love going to cafes and restaurants! meal dates are literally their favorite kind of date and they almost always eat together anyway so why not?

Any HCs about Riven and Helia?

In what arena? Like,, just general friendship headcanons? Because,, yes of course I do 🥺

They spar together! I have no evidence for this I just think it'd be cute 🥺 I really love the idea of Riven being able to spar with one of the specialists without feeling like he isn't good enough or that it isn't worth it. Helia would be enough of a challenge that he'd definitely have to think through it, but they don't have the same tension as Riven and Sky so it's not as emotionally grueling.

I like to think that they eat together a lot! The specialists don't usually eat together during meal times (mostly because their schedules are so drastically different) and the only time they do is during missions which can be really stressful. Helia comes from a culture where it's expected to eat with people though and Riven doesn't mind the company so they often eat meals together. When Timmy has the time, he joins them!

Food! Personally, I headcanon that both of them tend to forget to eat (for different reasons) but are usually good at reminding each other. This is actually one of the main reasons why they started to eat together often.

Helia Body Always Cold and Riven Body Always Hot makes for good cuddles but shush don't tell anyone.

Riven thinks dressing up for Halloween is stupid and Helia thinks it's really fun. Obviously, this means every year the specialists need to play a little game called "do we trick Riven into a costume or convince him to do it?" with Helia and Timmy often leading the charge. They did steal his clothes while he was showering and only left a costume in its place. Of course they did.

Breaking and Entering (and Escaping) Power Duo. There's not a single building out there they can't break into. There's also not a single thing out there that could keep them locked up. Sometimes when one or both of them get kidnapped by the Villan of the Week, the specialists straight up just don't rescue them because they'll turn up eventually. Just give them like an hour or two.

Helia has a lot of cats and for some reason, they've decided Riven is just the best guy to cuddle and meow at. He doesn't understand why they like him though because he mostly just ignores them. Riven is one of the only other people they like though and Helia gives him the stink eye when he isn't nice enough. So... cuddles it is.

The two of them spend the longest time getting ready and more than 90% of that time is just on their hair. Helia needs to get every strand in place and Riven takes forever molding his into its cone shape. They stress the others out so much.

Obviously, they didn't get along when they first met. Riven hated Helia and assumed he was just another spoiled brat and Helia didn't appreciate Riven's assumptions or attitude. Their arguing and passive aggressive treatment of each other was annoying enough, but they were even worse when they became friends! Riven started gossiping to Helia and telling him every little embarrassing thing the others did and hooked him into his pranks against them. And Helia was just happy they were getting along so of course he gossipped and pranked with him.

Riven & Helia Headcanons +*

Riven and Helia do art related activities together during the weekends. Helia introduced more art forms besides music (collages, paintings, etc.) to Riven. At first Riven sucked at them, but after being reassured by Helia, he’s better at them. It also helped him express his feelings more!

Remember the scene where Helia called out Riven’s treatment to Musa? (S3 EP19) Imagine they both do that to each other. It’d be nice for each of them to find out their flaws from one another, and work it out with each other. (Or work on it by themselves.)

They both enjoy taking walks/jogs with each other. It just takes longer incase Helia wants to sketch something he sees on the way (only on walks).

Sleeping in bed together at first, Riven needed a lot of space. He eventually cuddled up to Helia, then allowed Helia to cuddled up with him. Now both hug each other while sleeping, but can change incase one or both of them need space. (Riven likes being little spoon.)

Another point: Helia helps with pointing out Riven’s toxic masculinity. 

Riven tries to do things “traditionally” romantic for Helia (Writing a love poem, etc.), but either Helia (genuinely) laughs at it or just says,”You tried your best.” 

Helia takes care of his skin because of his skin routine. Riven makes fun of it at first, but then gets slowly interested. Now they both have skin care routines! 

Helia likes looking at Riven’s face and expressions, probably sketches them. Riven likes looking at Helia, especially when he’s smiling or laying down (Because he looks great with his hair down and out.) Really makes him blush and question himself. Ya know?

“Why did you grow out your hair?” “Because I can?”

“You’re pretty gay.” “Says the one wearing a crop top.”

Additionally: “Look at these cute pens.” “Helia that’s gay.” “...Riven we’ve been dating-”

What are the three hallmarks of being a helia stan? 😂

Good question!! There are multiple hallmarks, yet the first three are without a doubt the most common among Helia stans. However, there is a pre-stan hallmark that you must be aware of in order to fully understand the list.

Pre-Helia stan hallmark: For whatever reason, you like Helia a normal amount but wish to know more about him. This leads to a spiral of watching the seasons, including the later ones, and reading the comics in order to sniff out all of his scenes. You've likely read his wiki bio multiple times.

1. Now, that you understand Helia as a character, you realize that the fandom has a very different perspective of him. You'll notice all the times people say he never gets jealous or when pacifism is used to undermine his skills as a specialist. You start to wonder why the fandom sees him in specific ways that directly go against what canon has to offer. This curiosity feeds into the next hallmark-

2. You realize Helia is not a pacifist. For some, this realization may come sooner. Regardless, it's always in the top three Oh Shit moments of being a Helia stan. After constantly going over all of his moments in canon and fanon, you'll come to notice the difference between canon!Helia and fanon!Helia, which will inevitably lead you to realize that he isn't actually a pacifist, and likely never was. At some point after this, you'll notice that Helia's supposed pacifism is one of the biggest reasons people misunderstand his personality and actions in canon.

3. Now that you've gotten a very good understanding of canon!Helia (and fanon!Helia), you'll come across the idea that he was never as boring as fandom said, just underdeveloped (as are all the specialists). You'll realize that canon laid down all the ingredients for Helia to be a very interesting character but unfortunately, did nothing with it. You'll start to seriously consider his possible backstories, what his family is like, where he grew up, etc. You'll notice that a lot of other Helia stans have very similar ideas and you'll feel happy knowing you were "on the right track", so to speak (though obviously, there are no right/wrong tracks in fandom). Overall, you'll be content in the very small bubble that makes up Helia stans 😌

There are other, smaller hallmarks along the way, such as wondering why the fandom never remembers that Helia canonically has magic and doesn't do anything with that fact in rewrites or wondering why people are convinced that Florelia are perfect as a couple and have no faults (when they definitely aren't and very much do). Being a Helia stan is very similar to liking any other character in Winx. It's a series of realizing that fanon is way off, getting frustrated with people misunderstanding them, and being happy with the small groups of people who like the same character just as much as you do.

Smaller hallmarks include but are not limited to: thinking about witch!Helia, realizing there's a good chance he's not from Lynphea or at least didn't grow up there his entire life, realizing he's actually not that good at being the therapist/mom friend and is closer to the wine aunt end of the spectrum, not liking Helia/Timmy as best friends because they never get scenes together then realizing they actually aren't that bad and thinking of ways to make them closer, thinking about that one Helia/Bloom scene from S3 all the time (you know the one), thinking about Helia/Riven as a couple then going ew no then going ah but what if then going hmm no then going but actually yes, realizing he's a lot more laid back then he seems, then realizing he's a lot more serious then he seems, thinking about spy!helia all the time and wondering why other people don't think about spy!helia all the time, giving him a lot of cats in your fanfics/aus/rewrites/etc, getting a little salty when rewriters throw him out of the main specialist group, actually getting really salty when rewriters throw him out of the main specialist group, giving him a friend group separate from the specialists and winx because you're still a little salty that rewriters keep throwing him out of the main group, seriously why do so many people throw him out of the main group 😔

Necromancer Helia got me thinking about him Astral Projecting but yesss I love your headcanon!!

ooh interesting!! tbh i like the idea of necromancer for him because it's a... unique form of creation so to speak and compliments flora's powers really nicely. i also love the idea of him challenging the idea that necromancy is inherently evil or wrong!

astral projection can be so cool!! honestly though i feel like that kind of power would work really well for riven? maybe even timmy... idk i just love the idea of one or more of the specialists being a little witchy 😌
