This one is "Hook, line... "
and this is "Sinker".
Inspired by @queenamayasimp 's post on instagram. Amaya canonically has a freckle on her neck (or "neckle" as someone far more clever than me commented on ig). When she let's down her hair, there's a deeeefinite magnetism that attracts Magnifico to give kisses on her freckles. They remind him of constellations, and he'd also draw little zig zag figures on them with his fingers as they lie cuddling in bed together. Wholesome and in love <333

Are there any other wizarding families that are underexplored in canon and pique your interest in a similar way to the Blacks?
This is a unique function of what food my brain worms like to eat, but no one's doing it like the Blacks. The drama? The intrigue? The Gothic horror? The prodigal sons and lost daughters and killers and sinners and martyrs and saints? The wizard Catholicism of it all? The story of the House of Black is the best book never written.

thinking about george becoming an agent much later than others, because his family didn't need money that desperately. thinking about him joining fittes against his parents' wishes, because he's been hyperfixated on the Problem as long as anyone can remember. thinking about how relieved his family must have been when he came home, fired. thinking about how hard it must have been to let him leave again, for a uncertain future in an uncertain place.

i totally get why LfW isn’t covering the novels (aside from that early bit of Study in Scarlet) but it does kill me a little that we didn’t do Hound at some point because like. man.
'Well, I am glad from my heart that you are here, for indeed the responsibility and the mystery were both becoming too much for my nerves. But how in the name of wonder did you come here, and what have you been doing? I thought that you were in Baker Street working out that case of blackmailing.'
'That was what I wished you to think.'
'Then you use me, and yet do not trust me!' I cried, with some bitterness. 'I think that I have deserved better at your hands, Holmes.'
'My dear fellow, you have been invaluable to me in this as in many other cases, and I beg that you will forgive me if I have seemed to play a trick upon you. In truth, it was partly for your own sake that I did it, and it was my appreciation of the danger which you ran which led me to come down and examine the matter for myself. […] As it is, I have been able to get about as I could not possibly have done had I been living at the Hall, and I remain an unknown factor in the business, ready to throw in all my weight at a critical moment.'
'But why keep me in the dark?'
'For you to know could not have helped us, and might possibly have led to my discovery. You would have wished to tell me something, or in your kindness you would have brought me out some comfort or other, and so an unnecessary risk would be run. […]
I was still rather raw over the deception which had been practised upon me, but the warmth of Holmes's praise drove my anger from my mind. I felt also in my heart that he was right in what he said, and that it was really best for our purpose that I should not have known that he was upon the moor.
'That's better,' said he, seeing the shadow rise from my face.
like. man. passages to have been published within a year or two of “Empty House,” huh

okay genuine question was i supposed to find out that joker’s shirt ISN’T actually sleeveless because i randomly stumbled across some old official replica of his outfit that was made in 2017 (seriously why only now am i finding this thing???) or do people just not know it exists?
joker canonically has sleeves, or at least he does if the replica is to be believed (and its making was supervised by shigenori soejima, who is the character designer of most modern persona games for anyone who doesn’t recognize the name). i don’t know how to cope. i genuinely thought he didn’t have sleeves outside of the overcoat. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a piece of art where joker doesn’t have his big coat on that features him with sleeves. i can’t cope guys i’m gonna fall apart this is breaking me. all i wanted to do was find a reference for something and then i stumbled across the fact that joker has sleeves.

Spelling was not standardized in Shakespeare's England
yes this is my point. william "sex jokes" "historical RPF" shakespeare is broadly upheld as the pinnacle of english literature, and zero percent of his works conform to any standardized spelling/grammar system
"shakespeare couldn't spell his own name" is shorthand for "the snobbery of ~english literature & canon~ is both self-contradictory and arbitrary in the extreme." & to me this means that anyone can create whatever they want and be just as good as any shakespearean sonnet. bc the only real qualifier for "good writing" is that somebody cared about the story they were telling, and the only real qualifier for "good reading material" is that someone, somewhere, wants to read it
no gods no kings no earl of oxford only a bunch of plays written in a drama club's groupchat and the people who keep investing them with meaning. there is no magic formula or golden standard. the only thing that gives any art any value is the people who choose to value it

God Hisashi!Giran must be so stressed, first his son gets diagnosed as quirkless, which sucks (but he can work with that and teach him te be a villain), then his son spontaneously develops a quirk powerful enough to break his bones (which means either Izuku or AFO went behind his back to make a deal), and then when he confronts his son about it apparently he got his quirk from All might? Which is apparently a thing? Oh and now his entire family is a target for AFO, thats fun.
Giran is angrily muttering the whole time he's packing about how for fifteen years his son was so sweet and no trouble at all, only for all that parenting stress to strike as one very dangerous blow right now and in a way where Giran literally cannot cut his losses and run. he'd almost be proud of izuku for it if it weren't terrifying. Inko, who has been stressing about their son and his troubles for the last fifteen years, tells him it's karma.
He definitely leaves something for the heroes to find blaming the family's disappearance on AfO though, since it'd be better for him if All Might and AfO just killed each other and left no one to know to keep looking for them.

why is s3 dair so good??? honestly, what is it about them (both as individual characters and relationship-wise) that makes it so... good, for lack of a better word?
it's the Narrative Foils, babe!
no, but really, this plot had EVERYTHING: there's first the setup that they're both at nyu even though they didn't want to be - it's where the ended up after their respective Yale dreams fell through.
then, there's the role reversal of Blair, who's always used to being on top, sure she was caught up in power struggles at Constance but there people still cared who she was, and now, nobody does. she's just another freshman. and Dan, who was used to a certain invisible kind of existence, is noticed on his very first day for being a Writer - and a good one! and he makes friends who actually like him as a person! it's him with the social capital now, and the first thing he spends it on is to help out Blair. (insane. they are insane. they should kiss.)
🪑 aside, this is also the first time in the show ever that Dan is unattached narratively to Serena. I mean, they're friends and on the verge of being family, but they'd been given real romantic closure in s2, so they start off the college arc truly as just friends, which means for the first time in the show, Dan's romantic arc prospects are openended, which in my unexpert opinion, pours a little extra sauce on his loaded interactions with Blair.
also he and Blair's roommate fuck and Blair sees him shirtless in his post woodchuck todd glow up and idk how a girl doesn't have strong feelings about that ya feel me?
AND (I think Nads has touched on this before?) Constance/St. Jude's was pretty...partitioned, I guess you could say, so with the exception of The Essay Contest, I don't think Blair and Dan were put in the position for any competition, but at a fully coed school? And with their similar interests they were bound to end up in classes together, and I swear it is such a CRIME that we didn't get any classroom hijinks with these ding-dongs. competing for top grades and rankings, fighting over a TA position, checking out all the material in the library on a topic to sabotage the other's research, it could have fed us Damien Darko vibes a season and a half earlier and I am BITTER.
I think ultimately it's how the beginning of college presented a twist on their previously perceived social standings (and understandings of each other), and that the sheer potential of starting over in a new place opened up windows of story that didn't/couldn't exist in the high school ecosystem. was it ultimately underexplored and underutilized? absolutely, but at least we have that s3 dair FWB fic on ao3...

@nieithryn (responding to this post [x]) Only other point I might add is that Anakin says mentor not Master, so dependjng how you interpret it, it could also be that Siri was a major mentor involved with a padawan whose master was unavailable for the ceremony. Different authors vary on how firmly they dub a padawans master, but that could also be an option. If Siri were an instructor who was available and trusted by a padawan, and their master was unavailable, she might be asked to attend in that capacity.
this is also a really good point, thanks Liz! I will say that from what I know of Olana’s backstory that was written out (I haven’t read it: it was written for starwars.com as a ‘what’s the story?’ for background characters at the time of her appearance as a background character in ROTS, I’ve only seen her wookiepedia page) her Master was killed during the first few months of the Clone Wars (not at Geonosis, but not long after) and per that version, Olana was considered close enough to completing her training that she was Knighted instead of given another Master. but since Brotherhood puts her Knighting at the same time as Anakin’s immediately following Geonosis, that’s sort of why I figured that it could just push her Master’s death to shortly before the Clone Wars instead of shortly into the Clone Wars. so that factored into how I factored it in. I do really like this point and it does make me feel better about the whole thing, tbh.
