Riverdale was a town where nothing ever happened. At least that’s what Archie thought throughout most of his life. Short of his mum and his dad splitting up, there were no major events of note in his life as he grew up in the suburban town, and even the divorce had been amicable. Although he had heard rumors of things happening across Sweetwater River, tales of witchcraft and horror, he couldn’t bring himself to believe that such things would ever even touch the quaint and peaceful town he lived in.

Half of him was glad for it, that he would be able to live his life the way it should be. Go to school, spend time with his friends, graduate and go off to college. But sometimes, as Betty told tales of her and Jughead’s romance blossoming in such a perfect way, he couldn’t help but feel stagnant. Like he was missing out on experiences that could shape him because the town was perfect.

Until she came along.

Veronica Lodge and her family shook the town of Riverdale like nothing ever had before. Her father, the multimillionaire businessman and rumoured mafia boss, was all smiles and handshakes as he visited the small businesses in the town, including his fathers. Her mother, a beautiful latina woman who could have been mistaken as nothing but eye andy because of the way she presented herself, proved herself to be as intelligent and cunning has her husband as their schemes began to develop and reveal themselves. But she... she was incredible.

“8 o'clock, Monday night and I'm waitin' to finally talk to a girl a little cooler than me... And when she walks, All the wind blows and the angels sing. But she doesn't notice me!”

A force to be reckoned with, Veronica Lodge walked through the school with an air about her which made every man want her. Stark raven locks and sharp eyes made even the popular kids desire her presence, and he wasn’t even surprised when she walked passed him as he stepped forward to attempt a welcome at the pep rally he had been forced into by Jughead and Betty.

“'Cause she’s watchin' wrestling, creamin’ over tough guys...”

In the weeks to come, he watched as she keenly observed the wrestling, how Reggie slipped his arm around her in a way he so desperately wanted to, and although Archie had always known he was a hopeless romantic, even he had to admit that this was ridiculous.

“It's like a bad movie, she is lookin' through me, if you were me then you'd be screamin' "Someone shoot me!" As I fail miserably, tryin' to get the girl all the bad guys want.”
