The slate in the bts stobin picture says that the DP is Caleb Heymann, the same guy who shot season 4. So we can expect something similar to that season visually, at least in terms of how it was shot.

He’s also the same guy who shot the Fear Street trilogy. I’m unfamiliar with his other work though.

Now that I’ve finished my canon-divergent Mr. Robot fic, I miss writing them. I’m toying with writing a no-hacking AU where Elliot is court-ordered to attend a grief counseling group for Angela and Tyrell is in the group for Joanna. They clash in their group participation styles and dislike each other. (Read: Tyrell cries a lot and Elliot is so over that … partly because it Forces Him To Feel Things.)

Elliot can’t work at Allsafe anymore now that Angela is dead; there are too many memories of her there. So he applies for and receives a job at E Corp. And, to his horror, Tyrell is his boss. They decide not to tell anyone about the coincidence, and attempt to confine their dislike for one another to grief counseling and to act like adults at work. For a while, it doesn’t go that well.

Then one day Tyrell finally has the breakthrough he’s been hoping for in grief counseling. He tells the group about how he feels responsible for Joanna’s death. And Elliot mocks the fuck out of him for the public display of emotion. He curses and uses the word “idiot” several times. But the actual content of his response to Tyrell? Is to tell Tyrell he isn’t responsible for her death and he shouldn’t blame himself. It’s like he’s trying to be cruel and ends up saying exactly the right thing anyway.

Which gives Tyrell a lot to think about. While Elliot continues to dislike Tyrell, Tyrell starts to watch Elliot more closely and see what’s underneath his anger and compulsive shyness. He gets way too interested in Elliot. He even starts being nice.

This makes Elliot angrier, obviously, since being angry and closed off is literally the only way he’s coping with Angela’s death.

You get it. Tyrell eventually breaks into Elliot’s heart with a crowbar because that’s how it works. They probably have angry sex at work on a desk at some point after an argument about cybersecurity that is secretly about their feelings (Tyrell is only pretending to be angry bc that’s the vibe; Tyrell is already fuckin gone for this boy).

Krista, who runs the grief counseling group, is well aware of what’s going on and doesn’t know what to do with it, the poor woman.

Sad Headcanon Time!

Sonic doesn't like being around Gemerl.

It's nothing Gemerl did, really. Sonic's remarkably good at forgiving people that tried to kill him. Their eight or so fights over the course of the First Shattered World Crisis aren't really anything to hold grudges over.

But that's his kid. Except not. He found that robot on a beach and raised them himself. And then they died in his arms, asking him whether they should be glad that they were born. Whether their life was something to regret.

On some level, he knows that Gemerl doesn't have anything in them that's Emerl. Emerl's body crumbled to ash in his hands, and Eggman built copies of the design before. Gemerl is obviously just a refined version of the E-121 designs. But they're still painted in Eggman's colour scheme, they still have Eggman's mockery of Emerl's name. He visits Cream and sees this shadow of what he once loved, more robotic than Emerl ever was. It doesn't bother Cream. Why does it bother him so much?

(He still has the Emerald that was all that remained of Emerl. If he convinced Tails to install it in Gemerl's chassis, would it bring Emerl back? Is that even a good idea?)

So he stays away whenever he can.

Sage asks him to look after her 'father' when she goes. The angry, vicious, vindictive part of him, the part that only ever came out he was Darkspine Sonic, wants to spit back that Eggman offered only further torment when he killed Sonic's kid, why does he deserve anything besides scorn? He stomps it down. It won't help anyone if he lets it out.

(Sage comes back, of course. Like she never left, Eggman pushes a few buttons and he gets her back. Of course he gets the get-out clause. Gaias forbid Eggman experience consequences.)

#This isn't the most coherent thing #For one it's based on the modern IDW version of Gemerl rather than Archie or the pre-IDW fanon I normally lean on with them #But also Sonic caring this much about his dead robot kid is kinda incompatible with Flynn-era Sonic material #With its endlessly forgiving Sonic and wholesome dad Eggman #But overall I view Sonic as someone who buries all of his anger and grief and pain under a smiley facade and bad jokes #He never lets it surface #And when it *does* it's not pretty #At all #Like this Sonic would not be smugly lecturing anyone about how his morality is better #He'd defend Mr. Tinker because of his amnesia and *only* that #And even then he'd be tempted. #Sonic #Sonic the Hedgehog #Gemerl #Gemerl the Gizoid #Emerl #Emerl the Gizoid
